Gremlins may have stopped at only 2 movies and a recent animated TV show, but a lot of its imitators went on to make a killing in the sequel market. Sure, we had one offs like Munchies from Roger Corman and Goobers from the mind of Charles Band which should have rightfully stayed one and done but others wanted in on that franchise action. The Gate would have 2 entries as would Hobgoblins. Troll would get a few sequels, kinda, if you want to go down the rabbit hole of strange Italian sequels in name only that are just called that to capitalize on the profits of other movies and Ghoulies would somehow, miraculously, get 4 films although if I’m being honest, I actually enjoy watching that series. Critters also had 4 (initially) but has a much stronger legacy in terms of enjoyment and interesting background including the fact that even though it came out after Gremlins,...

Alex Proyas, of the 1994 classic The Crow (watch it Here), was never happy with the idea that Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders was going to be telling a new version of the story of The Crow with his recently released reboot – and Proyas never kept his feelings about the project to himself, taking every opportunity to mock and bash it on social media. The Crow reboot made its way out into the world last weekend and is proving to be both a critical failure and a box office bomb, which is just giving Proyas more opportunities to have fun at the movie’s expense on social media.
In the build-up to the reboot’s release, Proyas shared a screen shot of The Guardian’s review, which called the film “unfathomably awful.” Later, he commented, “Wow. The reviews are brutal.” And when the box office numbers came in,...

Brandon Lee’s The Crow soundtrack consisted of a bunch of iconic songs. It was executive produced by Jeff Most, the film’s producer, and Jolene Cherry, the film’s music supervisor. Most insisted that they wanted to create a soundtrack out of original songs and covers, that wasn’t available anywhere else. It was a challenging task at the time when films used established hit songs to make sure that the album would sell.

It was a difficult mission at the time but they managed to convince hard rock and heavy metal bands like Rage Against the Machine, Rollins Band, and Pantera, to create music for the film. The soundtrack had to undergo a few changes after Brandon Lee’s tragic accidental death. Jeff Most later regretted removing one song from the soundtrack during this time.

After Lee’s accidental on-set killing, speculation of a curse elevated this grungy revenge fantasy to cult status. Its violent, cartoonish energy still holds power
Just over 30 years ago, emerging action star Brandon Lee – son of Bruce Lee – was killed by a prop gun accident, fatally shot in the stomach on the set of this Gothamesque revenge fantasy thriller. It was a desperately sad event that generated more spurious talk of a family “curse” (Bruce died at age 32), rather than a conversation around movie location safety, which continues to be a problem to this day.
Now The Crow, which was released in 1994, a year after Brandon’s death, has been rereleased for its 30th anniversary. Brandon had largely finished filming and the movie was completed by finessing certain scenes in rewrites and using stunt doubles and digital superimposition of his face, which was camouflaged by the rainy, murky cityscapes and the eerie whiteface makeup.

The Krites -- the titular "Critters" from the eponymous film series -- are small, furry, extraterrestrial eating machines that are essentially dry-land piranhas. Krites only have impulses toward consumption and chaos. They have human intelligence, but are far more interested in eating than philosophy. The first "Critters" movie, directed by Stephen Herek (of "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "Mr. Holland's Opus" fame) is one of the world's only Easter-themed horror movies, centering on a small Iowa town that discovers Krite eggs and paints them for the Sunday festivities. Naturally, the eggs hatch and the hungry Krites begin wreaking mayhem. Only a pair of alien bounty hunters named Ug (Terrence Mann) and Lee can help in stopping the alien threat.
The Krites can roll up into balls like hedgehogs and trundle quickly from place to place. They can also fire poisonous quills from their backs. They're mean little mothers.

Yesterday, we saw the first images of what Bill Skarsgard of the It films is going to look like as goth rocker Eric Draven in director Rupert Sanders’ (Snow White and the Huntsman) remake of the 1994 classic The Crow (watch it Here). There weren’t a lot of positive reactions, with many fans comparing Skarsgard’s look – which Sanders said was a mixture of his own look in the ’90s, “when we were squat-raving in London,” with modern influences like Post Malone and Lil Peep – to Jared Leto’s poorly-received version of The Joker in Suicide Squad. One person who took to social media to blast the look of the new Eric Draven was Alex Proyas, who directed the ’94 version of The Crow.
Sharing one of the images, Proyas said, “Eric Draven’s having a bad hair day. Next reboot thanks.” In the comments, he continued to mock the look:...

We recently heard that Lionsgate has picked up the distribution rights to the reboot of the classic film The Crow (get it Here), which was released by Miramax back in 1994. Before Miramax acquired it, The Crow had originally been set up at Paramount. They decided to let go of it due to the controversy surrounding the on-set death of star Brandon Lee and the amount of violence in the film. So when Paramount acquired Miramax back in 2020, gaining the rights to The Crow in the process, it was like the film had gone full circle. It came back to Paramount. Recently, cinematographer Dariusz Wolski, mentioned a 4K restoration of The Crow would be on the Paramount Plus streaming service soon. While it hasn’t hit streaming yet, Blu-Ray.com announced that the 4K Blu-ray is set to come out on May 7th to mark the film’s 30th anniversary.

The episode of The Black Sheep covering The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Brandon Nally, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
When did the Texas Chainsaw movies get so muddled with so many timelines? It’s not a hard thing to do. People get lost in Texas and end up victims of Leatherface and his family. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be a story line or a variation on things from time to time, hell, that’s what made Freddy, Michael, and Jason so popular. You could have even done something like the legacy sequel for Halloween, at least the first one. Oh wait, you did, and it didn’t turn out well with characters that made terrible decisions and weren’t likeable in the first place? Oh yeah, I remember that one.

Storm King Comics 8-issue title "John Carpenter's Tales of Science-Fiction", now available, is a three-part graphic novel, with the first issue written by David J. Schow and illustrated by Andres Esparza:
"...in the story 'Envoy', since college, 'Steven Allard' and 'Benjamin Raines' have competed to be the first to make genuine alien contact. Corporate mega-science versus home-grown improvisation.
"Now they both apparently succeed at the same time — but one such contact is a transmission, and the other seems to be a ghost. What Steven calls 'the Envoy' offers enormous benefits to humankind on Earth.
"But Ben receives another, more sinister 'Creature' who warns against the Envoy's generosity. It's all a false handshake as a prelude to stripping Earth of every single consumable resource … but how do you say no to an instant cure for all diseases?

Mick Garris isn't just a prolific horror filmmaker who's created multiple horror classics and worked with the very best in the industry. “Hallowed be thy name, oh Lord, and shotgun do your stuff,” wrote Joe R. Lansdale in one of his more than 50 novels, 400 short stories, and countless comic books and screenplays. But while a prolific storyteller, Lansdale is no ordinary writer. He’s the kind of guy who when tasked with writing a sequel to The Drive-In, he subtitled it Not Just One of Them Sequels. He knew you couldn’t skin a rabbit and keep it as a pet. The Texas native also inspired a generation of suspense writers, and the immersive and obsessive documentary on the author, All Hail the Popcorn King, has been touring the country and will be released wider over the coming months.
By the same token, Hansi Oppenheimer is not just any documentary filmmaker. She put the grr in fangrrl. Her upcoming All Hail the Popcorn King promises to be a “five-star” documentary on the award-winning author and screenwriter.

Since starting out as a special makeup effects artist on George A. Last year, Nicotero became a showrunner as well, executive producing Creepshow, a six-episode horror anthology series for the Shudder streaming service inspired by the classic 1982 movie written by Stephen King and directed by Romero. The acclaimed horror anthology series Creepshow premiered on the AMC cable network Monday night (May 4) after first launching last year on the AMC-owned genre streaming service Shudder. Since debuting there, Creepshow has been a success, with a second season about to start filming before the coronavirus pandemic shut down production for now.
Based on the 1982 movie written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero, Creepshow’s six-episode first season features two stories per episode, many of them either written by or based on works from well-known and respected horror authors like Joe Hill and David J. Schow. In honor of King, however, the premiere story was “Gray Matter,” based on a story that appeared in King’s classic 1978 collection Night Shift.
But “Gray Matter” wasn’t the first King story selected for adaptation by Creepshow showrunner and executive producer Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead), who directed the segment as well.

If you don’t yet have a subscription to the excellent horror streaming service Shudder, then you probably have not had a chance to see Creepshow, the original anthology series based on the classic 1982 movie written by Stephen King and the late George A. Romero.
Well, while we nevertheless strongly recommend that you check out Shudder if you’re a horror fan, you’re still in luck if you don’t: the entire first season of Creepshow will run on basic cable’s AMC network (which owns Shudder) next month. The show will premiere on Monday, May 4 and will air two episodes back to back, starting at 9:00 p.m. Et.
Now, the first season is comprised of just six episodes, but each episode contains two standalone tales of terror for a total of one dozen haunting stories, many of them written and/or directed by some of the genre’s more notable names.

“You know it’s ok to be scared, right?”
Shudder has released another trailer for Greg Nicotero’s upcoming Creepshow series, which is based on the classic horror anthology film of Stephen King and George Romeo.
I’m super excited about this series revival, and the stories that are going to be told sound like some good old-fashioned creepy fun. You can tell that the creative team had a great time making this series and telling these stories.
This new trailer offers a lot of great new footage teasing the wonderfully terrorizing madness that awaits.
We have some information on all twelve of the stories that will be told during the first season and I’ve listed them again below in case you missed them or want to read through them again.

This Creepshow anthology series is going to offer some fun and horrific entertainment! I had the opportunity to watch the first episode of the series, which I really enjoyed, and I’m looking forward to watching the rest of them. You can tell that Greg Nicotero is having a blast making this series, which is a revival of the 1980s horror anthology films from George Romero and Stephen King.
As a big fan of those films, I enjoy how the series emulates those in its style, and you’ve gotta love the practical effects that were utilized to bring these 12 stories to life for our viewing entertainment.
We’ve got a new blood and gore filled trailer for the series for you to watch that teases the crazy terror-filled mayhem that awaits us! Enjoy!

Shudder's Creepshow reboot is bringing the '80s horror anthology back to life and the set has the bloodstains to prove it.
On the calendar behind Greg Nicotero’s desk, every day, from Jan. 7, 2019 through to today, March 28, is marked with a red “X.” The lines are big and emphatic, as though the writer put every last bit of his energy into striking them.
“It seems like yesterday was January 7th and now it's the end of March,” Nicotero says, sinking into a chair in front of the calendar. “There's been no time to even pick anything up.”
Production happens in a near constant state on the Creepshow set and the chaos on the cavernous Atlanta soundstage reflects it. Outside of Nicotero’s office, hallways are littered with rubber monsters and gory props. Two lifeless Nazi soldier dolls greet the production staff arriving on set, one bald and scarred,...

Even though he’s always put in memorable and enigmatic performances throughout his 20-year career, it was his breakout role in Hustle & Flow that, for this writer, solidified DJ Qualls as the real deal and an actor whose projects I will always seek out. Most recently, Qualls has been a part of some fantastic television and streaming series, including Supernatural, Z Nation, and The Man in the High Castle, and in September, he’s set to star in one of the episodes of the upcoming anthological Creepshow series, which premieres on Shudder on September 26th.
While at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, Daily Dead and several other journalists had an opportunity to briefly speak with Qualls about his involvement in Creepshow, and he talked about what we can expect from his story, “The Finger,” which was written by David J. The tragic history of The Crow helped usher in a quarter century of comic book movies.
On May 13, 1994 The Crow, based on the comic book by James O’Barr, was released. At the time, comics-based movies -- the superhero variety or otherwise -- were in a slump. After the initial excitement following the massive success of Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989, that series had taken a darker turn with 1992’s Batman Returns, and the corresponding dip in box office had Warner Bros. Pictures preparing a far more kid-friendly and garish Batman Forever for 1995.
The Superman franchise had died a more gruesome death than even Doomsday itself could bestow with 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, and as a result Krypton's last son lay dormant in re-development hell. As for iconic publishers like Marvel…let’s just say that the bargain-basement Captain America (1990) and the TV quickie...

It’s here, the second half of the science fiction TV series from the 1960s, restored and remastered. It’s really only half a season and the creative team has been swapped out, but several gems are every bit as good as episodes from year one. Plus acting disc producer David J.
