A complicated situation for Parish is about to get a whole lot stickier.
At the end of Episode 3, Gray arrived back home to find his family under the watchful eye of Anton (The Handmaid’s Tale’s Bradley Whitford) and his goons. Whitford’s shadowy gang member has a lot of power in the city of New Orleans, and he takes major issue with Gray’s recent involvement with The Horse — including saving the man’s life from Anton’s hit.

“Gray, it’s been a long time.” That casual greeting – delivered with a menacing edge by Bradley Whitford in his first appearance as a new character, Anton, a powerful Louisiana businessman with strong criminal ties – gave us chills when it capped off the taut third episode of AMC’s six-part crime-thriller Parish. “Anton is probably the most dangerous of all the characters because he knows Gray [Giancarlo Esposito] better than anybody. Ask yourself, who are the people that can get under your skin the most? It’s the people who know you the best,” says Eduardo Javier Canto who executive produces and writes the series with Ryan Maldonado. TV Insider checked in with the duo to see how the charming and wily Anton will add to stoic Gray’s pile-up of miseries. The family man is grieving his son’s death and fighting the failure of his luxury car service business.

With multiple Godzilla movies and T.V. shows dropping this year, it might be tricky for fans to track them all. Here is a guide that can help! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
On November 3, 2023, Toho Studios released what many consider to be one of the best Godzilla films in recent times — “Godzilla Minus One.” Then, Legendary Pictures came out with their first live-action series featuring the not-so-gentle giant in “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” on November 17, 2023. They had also recently created an animated series based on King Kong called “Skull Island” on June 22, 2023.
With that being said — 2023 was Godzilla’s year, without a doubt! However, there’s a big difference between the Godzilla movies from Toho Studios and Legendary Pictures. Simply put, Toho owns Godzilla. However, Legendary Pictures secured the rights to the giant 500-ft lizard and other monsters in the Kaiju universe in 2014, ultimately coming up with a ‘Hollywood’ version known as the MonsterVerse.

Peak TV may have peaked, but there’s still enough overwhelming volume on the small screen that I was able to watch AMC’s Parish while pondering a very niche-y question: Was this the best American cable adaptation of a far more efficient British drama about a guilt-stricken father, played by a star of Breaking Bad, leaving a life of comfortable legitimacy to wallow in a New Orleans criminal underbelly overseen by a member of the cast of Steven Spielberg’s The Post?
For what it’s worth, I think I preferred Showtime’s Your Honor, but I don’t want to make it sound like this new six-part thriller is derivative of only one specific show when it’s actually derivative of an entire fourth or fifth wave of already derivative prestige dramas — in AMC terms, more Low Winter Sun than The Killing, much less Breaking Bad.

The downside to playing a character like Gus Fring, Breaking Bad’s soft-spoken purveyor of fried chicken and crystal meth, is that once audiences have gotten a taste of it, that’s all they want from you. Even when he’s wielding a Darksaber or managing a stable of celebrity superheroes, many of Giancarlo Esposito’s subsequent roles have asked him to stick pretty closely to Fring’s politely psychotic shtick. As such, his grittier, growlier turn as retired wheelman Gracián “Gray” Parish in AMC’s crime drama Parish makes for a nice change of pace.
Gray seems like your average family man. He runs a car company and lives in a nice suburban home with his wife, Ros (Paula Malcomson), and their daughter, Makayla (Arica Himmel). They enjoy a peaceful life for the most part, though a shadow lingers over their home: Gray’s son, Maddox (Caleb Baumann), was...

Zoe Lister-Jones was proud to attend Sunday’s Spirit Awards, and the reason is twofold. First, the multihyphenate talent turned up in Santa Monica to support a pair of nominations for Roku’s Slip, the original series she created, starred in and executive produced alongside a team that includes Dakota Johnson. Reason No. 2: She did so by walking into the event hand-in-hand with a new love in her life.
When the subject of her plus-one came up during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 41-year-old Lister-Jones responded with a big reveal: “I’m here, I’m queer, I have some fear but I’m working through it.” Lister-Jones is in a new relationship with a fellow filmmaker, Sammi Cohen, who most recently directed Netflix’s You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, the teen comedy starring Adam Sandler and family including wife Jackie and their daughters Sadie and Sunny.

When Steven Spielberg made The Post, the real-life story about how the Washington Post broke the story of the infamous Pentagon Papers, he recruited an all-star cast. While Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks were the top-liners, the ensemble also included Bob Oedenkirk, Sarah Paulson, Bradley Whitford, Alison Brie, Bruce Greenwood, and David Cross. Exclusive: Umbrelic Entertainment co-founders Thomas Zambeck and Brian Katz are bringing back a new Anchor Bay Entertainment with an eye on genre films, undiscovered treasures, cult classics, and remastered catalog releases.
“We had an opportunity to take the name of a beloved genre film brand, one we feel a personal connection to, for our new company,” says Zambeck. “This is a new venture, unaffiliated with any previous incarnations. We aim to honor the history and spirit of the past as we look for interesting films that break the mold, and will be discovered by new generations for years to come.”
In Lionsgate’s acquisition of Starz in December 2016, the studio absorbed the North American branches of Anchor Bay Entertainment. The Anchor Bay Entertainment trademark was up for acquisition so Zambeck and Katz took the opportunity to acquire it. The new Anchor Bay Entertainment doesn’t include the previous label’s library.

We’re learning more about the upcoming sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The final chapter of the Emmy-winning Hulu series originally was to begin production in 2023 for a fall 2024 premiere, but that schedule, of course, was delayed by the strikes. “I came back for my family,” Esposito’s Gray says in the trailer. “I would do anything for them.”
“I’m in need of a driver with a particular set of skills,” New Orleans-based Zimbabwean gangster The Horse (Zackary Momoh) tells Gray, to which Gray confidently responds, “Yeah, I can drive.”

Spoiler alert: Taylor Swift’s boyfriend is playing in the Super Bowl next month.
Ok, assuming today wasn’t the first time you got internet access, that’s probably not a spoiler. But you might be among those who are hand-wringing over exactly how the Queen of Pop could pull off getting to Las Vegas for the Big Game on February 11 when she has a concert in Tokyo the night before.
It’s simple math — just ask The West Wing.
During an episode of the Aaron Sorkin-created NBC drama’s Emmy-winning second season, a group of high-level West Wing staffers are trying to figure out when President Bartlet will return from Tokyo back to Washington, D.C. That would be Deputy White House Communications Director Sam Seaborn, Press Secretary C.J. Cregg, Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman and Communications Director Toby Ziegler.

So just how would music’s biggest star get to football biggest game by going Tokyo–>Las Vegas, whose Allegiant Stadium is hosting Super Bowl Lviii, in a matter of hours?

Here is a tweet that shows how The West Wing staffers plotted it out, with the final destination being three more time zones away:

Contrary to claims amplified by the candidate’s campaign, Martin Sheen says he in no way supports Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and will not be attending the politician’s upcoming fundraiser.
“I do not endorse Rfk Jr nor will I be attending his party,” Sheen said in an Instagram story post on Thursday. He followed the remark up with another post stating that President Joe Biden would be his pick for the upcoming presidential election.
“I will wholeheartedly support Joe Biden and the Democratic ticket for 2024,” Sheen wrote.

Chiming in to back Sheen up was his “West Wing” co-star Bradley Whitford, who said the claims were completely false.
“There’s a story going around saying Martin Sheen is supporting Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for president. The story is incorrect. Martin asked us to post this on his behalf,” Whitford wrote in her post.

Uipdated with statement from Rfk Jr gala organizers: The arguably greatest fictional TV Potus ever is not endorsing the White House bid of Robert Kennedy Jr., and Martin Sheen sure as hell isn’t showing up as a warm prop at any Rfk Jr fundraiser anytime soon.
About a week ago, invites went out for a self-described “gala” on January 22 to celebrate the independent candidate’s 70th birthday. Sheen, Mike Tyson and Dionne Warwick were reported to be attending the event as “well-wishers.” On Thursday, some of President Jed Bartlet’s old West Wing staff have gone public to declare their old boss has no intention of attending.
In fact, via Bradley Whitford and Mary McCormack, Sheen says he remains an avowed supporter of incumbent Joe Biden, not Rfk Jr.

British writer and showrunner Steven Moffat believes the UK needs its own version of The West Wing, and he’s prepared to write it.
Moffat, who co-created Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch and previously helmed a chapter of the re-born Doctor Who, told The Times newspaper he thinks a serious look at British politics is missing from the country’s drama, and his fear that this has affected how our real-life politicians behave.
Moffat said:
“We’ve got a problem — we think that being cynical is sophisticated, but that’s how adolescents think. Our cynicism about our politics has resulted in cynical politicians. If you tell a child they’re bad, they become bad. If you tell politicians they’re a bunch of egotistical maniacs, then where is the value in trying to be anything else?”

Sarah Paulson revealed on “The View” that Matthew Perry helped land her a supporting role on Aaron Sorkin’s short-lived TV series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.” Perry headlined the NBC show opposite Bradley Whitford and Amanda Peet, all of whom were cast already when Paulson was auditioning for the role of fictional actor Harriet Hayes. The Emmy winner said Perry took her under his wing and ensured she had an advantage in her final audition by personally running lines with her.

Prime Video series “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” has unveiled first look images.
The series is a reimagining of the 2005 film starring Brad Pit and Angelina Jolie as Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith, respectively. In this iteration, Donald Glover (“The Martian”) stars as John Smith, while Maya Erskine (“PEN15”) stars as Jane Smith.
This new version features John and Jane both landing jobs working for an international spy agency where they must pose as spouses Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith. As they navigate a new mission each week, they find themselves falling in love with one another, complicating — and compromising — their “strictly business” relationship. Notably, this version features an intentional sham marriage between two strangers, as compared to the 2005 original, in which Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith were married without being aware of each other’s identity as an assassin.

Alex Edelman‘s Broadway hit Just For Us is now playing in Los Angeles and he celebrated with a star-studded opening event over the weekend!
The 34-year-old rising star was joined by celeb pals at the opening night celebration on Saturday (November 11) at the Mark Taper Forum in downtown Los Angeles.
In attendance were Alden Ehrenreich, Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater, Natalie Morales, Nia Vardalos, Bradley Whitford and Amy Landecker, and former NCIS: Los Angeles co-stars Barrett Foa and Daniela Ruah, among others.
Just For Us is written and performed by Edelman. In the wake of a string of anti-Semitic rhetoric pointed in his direction online, standup comic Edelman decides to go straight to the source; specifically, Queens, where he covertly attends a meeting of White Nationalists and comes face-to-face with the people behind the keyboards.
The play is running through November 26.

Bradley Whitford paid tribute to his longtime friend and “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” co-star Matthew Perry, who was found dead Saturday at his Los Angeles home. He was 54.
“Matthew Perry made me laugh. Hard,” Whitford wrote in a Tuesday Instagram post alongside a video of the pair participating in an interview for the Aaron Sorkin-created comedy drama, which ran from 2006 to 2007. “You have not lived until you have witnessed one of his in-between-the-takes confidential riffs on the absurdity of show business and the idiocy of male confidence, wrapped up perfectly with the sudden realization that we were both grown men who wear makeup for a living.”
Whitford continued by applauding Perry’s “huge, open heart and a pyrotechnical, joyous brain” without substances, and noted that “most beautiful parts of Matt made him the most vulnerable to the monster that he would have to fight for the rest of his life.

It’s that time year again—when one might, upon their daily neighborhood perambulation, casually stumble upon a man dressed in a blood-splattered full-body jumpsuit and think to themself, this is perfectly fine and normal. But that’s the Halloween season for you, when the ghosts and goblins and AMC-obsessed Nicole Kidmans are out in full force for their yearly Halloween rituals.
Aside from meticulously inserting razor blades into the apples we all intend to hand out to local children, everyone’s favorite part of the Halloween season is—of course—the excuse to binge-watch our favorite horror movies, from the silly-scary (Hocus Pocus), to the fun-scary (Trick R Treat), to the scary-scary (The Evil Dead) or the really scary-scary (any news channel). In fact, horror movies have long been an integral part of the indie film ecosystem—turning minuscule budgets into huge box office numbers and launching the...

This post contains spoilers for The Fall of the House of Usher and other Mike Flanagan works.
Acid raining from the sky, bodies melting into globs of indiscernible flesh, a troubled boy sucking the last bits of breath into his decimated lungs.
These sights and so much more punctuate the climax to the second episode of The Fall of the House of Usher, easily the most ghastly death in a series full of unsettling ends. Any horror filmmaker would be happy to craft such an upsetting scene, but that’s not all that Usher creator Mike Flanagan can do.
Just moments before young Prospero Usher (Sauriyan Sapkota) gets liquified, he’s met by Verna (Carla Gugino), a woman who haunts every member of the Usher family. Apropos of the Edgar Allan Poe story that gives the episode its title “The Masque of the Red Death,” Verna arrives at the rave...

"I'm a dude in a room talking to a dude in a room." XYZ Films has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Share?, from filmmaker Ira Rosensweig.
