2024 is over, and while it was a relatively good year for Max and its subscribers because of all the marvellous content we got. In my opinion, it is nothing compared to what Max has in store for us for 2025, as some of the most highly-anticipated Max original shows will be premiering this year. So, let’s find out which of your favourite Max original shows or some incredible new shows are coming to Max in 2025.

The Pitt (January 9) Credit – Max

The Pitt is an upcoming medical drama series created by R. Scott Gemmill. The Max series is set in the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital, and it follows the medical staff during their 15-hour emergency room shift. The Pitt stars Noah Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, and Katherine Lanasa.

With a new year comes a fresh slate of HBO shows, from long-anticipated returning favorites like “The White Lotus” and “The Last of Us” to new series, from Noah Wyle’s next medical drama to Rachel Sennott’s comedy show.

At the beginning of 2025, HBO will debut “The Pitt,” which centers on a Pittsburgh hospital, while Mike White’s anthology series returns with a new group of tourists in Thailand and one familiar face with “The White Lotus” Season 3. The rest of the year is jam-packed with highly anticipated series, including “The Last of Us” Season 2, “It: Welcome to Derry,” “Game of Thrones” spinoff series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” “Peacemaker” Season 2 and “Hacks” Season 4, among many others.

One notable series that won’t make it to HBO in 2025 is “Euphoria” Season 3, which is now slated for a 2026 release after delays pushed production to begin in January 2025.

Although Jennifer Coolidge‘s Tanya McQuoid has checked out of The White Lotus, another familiar face is back for Season 3 of the HBO series.

Natasha Rothwell recently discussed her return with “main character energy” as spa manager Belinda Lindsey for the upcoming season, which premieres Feb. 16, after previously appearing in the Hawaii-based Season 1 of Mike White‘s Emmy and Golden Globe-winning anthology series.

“She’s still working at the White Lotus, and she’s in Thailand doing sort of an exchange program to learn more about the wellness programs that the Thailand White Lotus offers,” she explained to Entertainment Weekly. “She’s going to be a guest for the first time, even though she’s taking classes and it’s a work trip. HBO in November 2022 announced a third season for The White Lotus, which will bring a new installment of the Mike White-created anthology series to screens.

The first installment, which premiered July 2021 and was set in Hawaii, was nominated for 20 Emmy Awards and won a leading 10, including for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Season 2, set in Sicily, debuted October 30, 2022 and won five Emmys, including a repeat for Jennifer Coolidge.

The White Lotus could be checking in for a fourth season.

Casey Bloys, who is Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, said that when he was in Thailand for the season three shoot, creator Mike White pitched his concept for a fourth season.

Bloys added that if White wants to do a fourth season, HBO will do a fourth season.

This comes ahead of the launch of season three, which is expected to air in the first half of 2025.

Sex Education‘s Aimee Lou Wood’s BBC romantic comedy series Film Club has built out cast.

She is penning Film Club with Ralph Davis (House of the Dragon), who is also starring in the show, and added to the cast are Suranne Jones and Nabhaan Rizwan, whose Netflix drama Kaos was recently cancelled. Adam Long and Liv Hill are also starring.

Film Club has commenced filming in Manchester and will air next year on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three and later on ZDFneo in Germany. Gaumont UK is producing, with Fremantle handling international sales. Show was first announced back in February.

Plot follows Evie (Wood), who hasn’t left her home in six months after a ‘wobble’. She runs a film club in her garage as an escape with her best friend Noa (Rizwan) and whoever else turns up.

The BBC on Tuesday unveiled casting additions for its upcoming romantic comedy-drama series Film Club, including Suranne Jones (Doctor Foster, Gentleman Jack, Vigil) and Nabhaan Rizwan (Kaos, In Camera, 1917).

The screenwriting debut from actors Aimee Lou Wood (Daddy Issues, Sex Education, White Lotus season 3) and Ralph Davis (House of the Dragon season 2, Othello) is described as a “piercingly funny and utterly heart-warming” six-part series by Gaumont for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three. Fremantle is handling global sales.

“Film Club Week 198. Evie hasn’t left the house in six months after a ‘wobble’, and Film Club is her escape,” reads a synopsis. “A weekly chance to create a world of wonder, deck the garage out in whatever the movie calls for and spend a few uninterrupted hours with Noa – her best friend and one of the few mates who still shows up.

But tonight, things are different. Noa’s got big news.

“Kaos” star Nabhaan Rizwan has set his next project following the cancellation of the Greek mythology-inspired Netflix series.

He has joined the cast of upcoming BBC rom-com drama “Film Club” alongside “Doctor Foster” lead Suranne Jones. The show follows members of a film club as they find solace in their shared passion of cinema every week until one day some big news shakes things up.

“Sex Education” star Aimee Lou Wood was previously announced as the series lead Evie, who is recovering from a low period with the help of the club. Wood co-wrote the series alongside Ralph Davis (“House of the Dragon”), who will also appear in the show as Film Club newcomer Dominic. Exclusive: Tayme Thapthimthong, a series regular in the Thailand-set third season of HBO’s The White Lotus, has signed with Artist International Group for management.

Thapthimthong will be repped at Aig by Chris Prapha and Deanna Russo Clark, who work with the likes of Michelle Yeoh, Anil Kapoor and Jonathan Rhys Myers. He also just signed with Independent Talent Group in the UK, along with Platform Public Relations.

A London-born actor of Thai descent, Thapthimthong’s role in the highly anticipated third season of The White Lotus is being kept under wraps. The Emmy Award nominee recently recalled filming the Season 2 finale of Mike White‘s hit HBO series and accidentally kicking her co-star in the scene where Fahy’s Daphne discovered the dead body of Coolidge’s Tanya floating in the ocean.

“She did a lot of actually floating down in water,” she noted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “And when we were shooting it, I did actually kick her in the face at one point. I felt so bad.

“They wanted to get a shot under the water of my foot making contact with her body, but I couldn’t see where her body was,” explained Fahy. “So she was just like, floating, waiting for my foot to like enter her general space. And I hit her in the face by accident.
