Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In her interview with Michelle, Q describes her preparation for the show as a gauntlet of creating outfits even before she knew the themes of the season. As part of Variety’s 100 Greatest Shows of All Time issue, we asked writers on our staff to name their favorite cult shows — series that may lack the clout, the following, or the prestige to quite notch an entry on our list, but ones for which our writers have a special fondness. Here are seven shows that are, to us, the greatest.
Alias
So the central mythology, about the mystical inventor Milo Rambaldi, came to little as the show went on. No big deal. On “Alias,” it was all about the ride. That’s meant very literally: Each week, the show crash-landed into an episode-ending cliffhanger. As played by a luminous, game, and utterly committed Jennifer Garner, superspy double agent Sydney Bristow changed her loyalties, her allies, and her wigs. The only constant in her life was chaos, into which a writing team led by J.J. Abrams thrust her week after week.

How does a McDonald’s manager with three young children end up becoming a cult leader who believes she has birthed the entire human race, been reincarnated as Jesus, Joan of Arc, and Marilyn Monroe and is spiritually connected to late actor Robin Williams?
Hannah Olson’s three-part HBO docuseries “Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God” attempts to answer that question.
The series, which is currently streaming on Max, begins with Colorado police discovering a mummified body lying on an enshrined queen-sized bed, wrapped in a sleeping bag decorated with Christmas lights. As the police officer’s bodycam gets closer to the bed, his flashlight reveals that the corpse’s face is not only severely gaunt, but also distinctly blue with glitter around the eye sockets. Sometimes a hat festooned with plastic straws, Christmas tree baubles and random trash is more than just a hat festooned with plastic straws, Christmas tree baubles and random trash: it’s a political statement – well, sort of. This vivid, effervescent and often moving documentary revolves around David Faulk and Michael Johnstone, two artists who found each other in the middle of the Aids pandemic, fell in love and ended up building not just a life together but a wider community around the drag persona Mrs Vera.
The latter is incarnated by Faulk, clad like a psychedelic Joan of Arc in an armour of upcycled polyester and tchotchkes, under a thick impasto of makeup – not unlike the inch-thick layers of paint he used to apply on canvases back in his days as a New York-based artist.

With Jane Birkin’s passing, France loses both an icon and one of its greatest enigmas. To focus on France is not to diminish the fact that Birkin’s death will be mourned around the world. Alongside Brigitte Bardot, Françoise Hardy and Catherine Deneuve, Birkin was one of the last surviving 1960s femmes who sparked global interest in French culture.
Except that Birkin wasn’t French. She was born in London and clung to her English accent all her life. Birkin was perfectly fluent, but cultivated a faux-naïf way of speaking her adopted language that reinforced her persona as the eternal child. For the French, it was all part of her singular charm, established decades earlier… and which she sometimes struggled to escape.
As partner and muse to Svengali-like songwriting genius Serge Gainsbourg, Birkin posed for the cover of his “Histoire de Melody Nelson” album, wearing only a red wig and open-waisted blue jeans,...

The male gaze is a powerful thing. For the majority of history, it has been the only gaze that mattered. As a result, much of women's history has been skewed through its perspective. Nowhere is this more prevalent than in the dichotomy of pariah and protagonist: Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, and countless others have had their actions and impacts scrutinized only to be branded one or the other.
The reggaetonera Villana Santiago Pacheco, known to fans as Villano Antillano or La Villana, is no stranger to this treatment. But as she rewrites the narrative with complex, often biting wordplay and an unapologetic attitude, the 28-year-old has become both the protagonist of her own story and reggaeton's latest movement, and a pariah to those minds who would seek to impose their traditional values and prejudice to marginalize her identity. But if you ask La Villana herself - one of reggaeton's first...

George R.R. Martin is no newcomer to transformation. After “Game of Thrones” revolutionized the fantasy landscape and paved the way for genre series to achieve mainstream acclaim, he and “House of the Dragon” showrunner Ryan Condal set their sights on another mighty challenge by crafting a female-centric spin-off.
“If you’re going to make a successful spin-off or sequel, it has to have a reason to exist,” Condal said. “There were great female characters in the original show, but really, other than Cersei, no [woman] really ascends to power the way that both Alicent and Rhaenyra do in their own ways.”
That would be Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), the dueling heroines of HBO’s prequel series that takes place almost 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.” Whereas that show featured...

“Clone High,” the animated MTV cult classic about a high school devoted to teenage clones of historical figures from creators Phil Lord and Chris Miller (the “Spider-Verse” franchise) and Bill Lawrence (“Ted Lasso”), returns with new episodes on Max 20 years after the cancellation of its sole season. The core group has thawed to confront a more complicated world of social media and new cultural norms, where “Riverdale” has replaced “Dawson’s Creek” as the coming-of-age template, complete with slightly more adult humor and even sillier situations — and fewer executive notes since the creators now wield greater power.
Back are Abe Lincoln (Will Forte), Cleopatra (Mitra Jouhari replacing Christa Miller), JFK (Chris Miller), and Joan of Arc (Nicole Sullivan). They are joined by new clone classmates Harriet Tubman (Ayo Edebiri), Frida Kahlo (Vicci Martinez), Confucius (Kelvin Yu), Topher Bus (Neil Casey as a canceled Christopher Columbus), and Sacagawea (Jana Schmieding). After two decades of being frozen in time, or canceled for lack of a better word, the amusing genetic copies of Abe Lincoln, Joan of Arc, JFK, and Cleopatra are ready to defrost and enter a new era of high school drama. The long-awaited revival of the early 2000s adult animated cult classic, Clone High is about to rise from its MTV ashes and mosey on over to Max (formerly known as HBO Max). The Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Bill Lawrence-created series centers around idiosyncratic teenage clone versions of prolific historical figures dealing with interpersonal drama with each other while facing the trials and tribulations of high school. And all under the watchful eye of secret government employees, out to prepare the teens to become ruthless world leaders.

What memories does the year 2003 stir up? The first Pirates of the Caribbean film? Ugg Boots? Freedom Fries? When the only Fast and Furious franchise sequel was 2 Fast and 2 Furious? It was a time when two fresh faced geeks, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller didn’t have The Lego Movie or Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse under their belt. In fact, they practically had no experience in Hollywood, let alone some of the most revered animated work of their era.
To cut their teeth in business, the soon-to-be dynamic duo partnered with producer Bill Lawrence (who was the force behind Spin City and Scrubs at the time and had Ted Lasso on his future docket) to create 13 episodes of a little known animated show that premiered on Teletoon in Canada and eventually MTV in the U.S. That show was Clone High,...

There’s a funny little irony to the very existence of Max’s Clone High. Originally created for MTV in the early aughts, the animated comedy centers around a bunch of teenagers who are genetic copies of notable historical figures, reborn for a new era. Now the series itself has been resurrected with much the same DNA (creators Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Bill Lawrence all return, as do most of the voice cast), but in a whole new environment. But just as characters like Abe Lincoln (Will Forte), Joan of Arc (Nicole Sullivan) and JFK (Miller) adjust to their new normal, so too does Clone High, serving up a new season that feels every bit as silly and sharp as the show did the first time around.
Clone High couldn’t have known it at the time, but its first-season finale offered the perfect setup for a revival. In the 2003 episode,...

"Clone High" was a clever, silly animated show about genetic clones of famous historical figures — like Abe Lincoln, George Washington, and Marie Curie — getting sent to high school for an experiment. It served as a parody of high school dramas of the early 2000s like "Dawson's Creek" and "The O.C." And yet, the show quickly built an entertaining high school story of its own that was just as compelling, with the high concept shenanigans also letting the interpersonal romances breathe and shine.
The show was unceremoniously canceled by MTV due to both low ratings and protests about the portrayal of Gandhi in the series. Since then, creators Bill Lawrence, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller have all gone on to do rather impressive things. Lawrence co-created "Ted Lasso," and Lord and Miller helped revolutionize American animation with "Into the Spider-Verse."

Though she is expecting to be “running around like a rabbit in the headlights” during this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Poppy Delevingne has a pretty peaceful vibe about her while discussing her French Riviera schedule.
The actress, model and entrepreneur is back in Cannes as an ambassador for luxury jeweler Chopard so her itinerary is jammed with red carpet appearances and events. But she’ll also be squeezing in some project-related meetings and likely some handshaking as Delevingne has a film hitting the Cannes Market courtesy of Rohit Karn Batra’s timely tale The Gun on Second Street. Ahead of hitting the Croisette, The Hollywood Reporter caught up with Delevingne to talk all things Cannes, travel must-haves and the newest plans for her prosecco brand Della Vite.
You said in a 2015 interview with W magazine ahead of your first trip to Cannes that you were only hoping not to fall up the Palais steps.

Throughout his career, director Emanuele Crialese has focused on telling stories about migration, both literal (his gorgeous Nuovomondo chronicles an Italian family’s journey to NYC during the turn of the century) and figurative. In L’immensità, he brings both dimensions into play by telling his most personal tale yet; an autobiography of sorts, set in 1970s Rome, in which the young Andrea (Luana Giuliani) begins to question their gender identity.
Andrea’s only aid is their mother Clara, played by Penélope Cruz, who herself is going through an existential crisis. A Spanish immigrant living in Italy, Clara lives with a husband (Vincenzo Amato) who demands the loyalty and compassion from his wife that he fails to provide. Cruz, who has built an impressive body of work in four languages, gives one of her finest performances yet as a woman trapped in an unhappy marriage, trying her best to take care...

On May 23, 2023, the streaming service Max will debut a reboot of "Clone High," the Canadian animated series created by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Bill Lawrence that initially ran in 2002 and 2003.
For those unfamiliar with the series, it had something of an odd premise. A shadowy governmental organization called the Secrey Board of Shadowy Figures has found a way to clone notable leaders from throughout human history. Hundreds of them were cloned about 16 years ago, and the teenage versions of the historical figures are now all attending the same all-American high school. The series lead was Abraham Lincoln (Will Forte), who would encounter the usual trials of adolescence. Abe would have an on-again-off-again relationship with Cleopatra (Christa Miller), and was best friends with Joan of Arc (Nicole Sullivan) and Gandhi (Michael McDonald). Abe's primary rival was the womanizing JFK (Chris Miller). Other attendees of Clone High included Martin Luther King, Jr.,...

Last year, it took 275,000 bright pink roses to adorn the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Met Gala, the biggest night in fashion and one of the biggest concentrations of star power anywhere.
It remains to be seen how the museum’s Great Hall will be decorated come the first Monday in May, but one thing is not in question: those entering it will look spectacular. The theme centers on the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, who made an indelible mark on luxury fashion in his long career at Chanel, Fendi and elsewhere. It is a theme not without controversy — Lagerfeld was known for contentious remarks about everything from #MeToo to curvy bodies.

Long before Phil Lord and Christopher Miller became household names with "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and Bill Lawrence took the sitcom world by storm with "Ted Lasso," the trio was responsible for a controversial animated comedy that lasted just one season. "Clone High" was a wild idea; a high-concept animated MTV sitcom about a high school full of clones of famous people that also served as a parody of teen shows at the time, it ultimately went off the air after its depiction of a clone of Gandhi inspired a hunger strike in India, according to Grantland.

Three days ahead of the 2023 Oscars, Donatella Versace showcased her Versace women’s and men’s fall-winter 2023 collections in a runway show atop the Pacific Design Center’s car park rooftop, with Instagram-worthy views of the Los Angeles skyline, on the evening of March 9.

Original "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" scribes Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson are almost extensions of their characters. They've written all three movies in the series, maintaining their close friendship for over forty years. From the script's first draft, the idea was less about a time-traveling history lesson and more about making a buddy movie with two lovable rockers. The SoCal duo, known as the Wyld Stallyns, didn't necessarily have to go on a grand adventure through time to be compelling. Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) wandering around the quiet suburban streets of San Dimas, California, jamming guitar and hanging out at the Circle K could've been a great mumblecore movie all on its own.
The same could be said for "Back to the Future." When Marty McFly plugs into that Gibson Ga-5T and sends himself flying through the air in a sonic blast, he already seems like your new best friend.

Stephen Herek's 1989 time travel comedy "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" was one of the stranger hits of its decade. The film followed two affable but none-too-bright teenager layabouts from San Dimas, California (site of the water park Raging Waters). Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) are flunking out of school, having spent most of their free time focusing on their rock band Wyld Stallyns. If they cannot pass an upcoming history exam, they will be split up and their band will be abandoned. This, it turns out, would be disastrous for the entire planet, as Bill and Ted's music is destined, in the distant future, to usher in a Roddenberian sci-fi utopia.

ABC celebrates the 30th anniversary of “Beauty and The Beast” with a hybrid broadcast special.
The two-hour special, premiering Thursday, includes live never-before-seen musical performances and features brand-new sets inspired by the classic story. Costume designer Marina Toybina was tasked with creating original outfits that pay homage to the 1992 animated feature and heritage while having a modern touch. “90 were made from scratch and we’re looking at close to 400 costumes,” Toybina says of her designs.
Award-winning singer and songwriter H.E.R. will play Belle, Josh Groban is playing The Beast, Joshua Henry will play Gaston and Rita Moreno is the narrator.
Toybina revealed the famous Belle gown was inspired by Joan of Arc. “I decided to develop an armor-like bodice that goes in line with ‘Joan of Arc,’ Toybina teased as she breaks down her designs.

Few expected that Shawn Levy would strike franchise gold in 2006 when the first "Night at the Museum" was released, but the film based on the 1993 children's book of the same name by Croatian illustrator Milan Trenc has since spawned two sequels, inspired a never-made theme park ride, and even got the Lego treatment in 2020. The original film centered on Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), a divorced father who finds a job at the American Museum of Natural History as a night guard. What appears to be an easy job of keeping an eye on a bunch of fossils and artifacts turns into the adventure of a lifetime after he discovers an ancient spell has caused the exhibits of the museum to come to life.
After the Fox-Disney merger, at-the-time CEO Bob Iger announced a new "Night at the Museum" animated feature, and now we're finally going to see the final product.

Yes, indeed. The Handmaid's Tale Season 5 Episode 9 had a lot of balls up in the air -- a rescue gone terribly wrong, truthful words between June and Joseph hitting like bullets, Joseph going with the grain, and an angry, out-of-control mob.
Oh yeah, and Serena's in the wind.
"Allegiance" tees up The Handmaid's Tale Season 5 finale with many moving targets.
Generally, we've been in the dark when it comes to the Americans. Mark is the sole ambassador for what's left of America, and he's left on his own, working on behalf of the refugees in Canada.
Saying he's got a lot on his plate would be an understatement.
Obviously, other American representatives are helping to coordinate whatever it is the Americans have been doing since the war started.
But when June and Luke were walking through the hangar, seeing the preparations for the rescue mission, I got a sense of foreboding.

Plot: A vampire slayer targets billionaire bloodsuckers who have lured a group of social media influencers to their remote compound.
Review: Just one month after the theatrical and VOD release of the thriller Dig, which was directed by K. Asher Levin and starred Thomas Jane, we’re getting the theatrical and VOD release of another Levin / Jane collaboration… and this one is quite different from their previous one. The new(er) movie is a horror comedy called Slayers, which finds Jane taking on the role of experienced vampire slayer Elliot Jones. The narration from Jones informs us that vampires have existed since the dawn of time – and humans have been secretly warring against them for thousands of centuries. While Jones has been in the slayer game for a couple decades at this point, he’s just one of the latest slayers in a long line of them, including some major historical figures.
