Full credit where “It” is due: Currently standing at $266 million through its third weekend, “It” is a stunning success and boosted a domestic box office in serious crisis. A reasonable estimate, if somewhat conservative, is a domestic gross around $325 million.
All this, from a September horror film made for $35 million? That’s a stunning performance. And it’s by far the best-performing Stephen King adaptation. But it’s far from the top horror movie in history.
At $325 million, here’s where “It” will stand in adjusted totals:
Horror films The Exorcist (1973) – $983 million The Sixth Sense (1999) – $512 million House of Wax (1953) – $449 million Psycho (1960) – $379 million Signs (2002) – $345 million It (2017) – $325 million (projected)
“House of Wax” was by far the biggest 3D hit in that technique’s first wave. “The Exorcist” is the ninth biggest-grossing of the post-silent era and a social phenomenon in its time. M. Night Shyamalan’s films both had high-end casts and...

There are a Lot of misconceptions when it comes to teaching, especially the Do’s and Don’T’s of the profession. Movies are meant to instill drama, comedy, conflict, and so on and so forth. But when it comes to certain professions they kind of miss the mark a bit on certain things. The passion of the teacher is usually seen to be great and even overwhelmingly positive, but the means they use to get the attention of the kids and make things better usually seems like it would become a matter for the police to sort out. Yeah, that’s how bad

President Donald Trump on Monday marked the one-year anniversary of the deadly mass shooting at the gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, vowing in a tweet that America will “Never Forget” the 49 victims who lost their lives in the tragedy.
But for many of his critics, his sentiments came a year too late.
On the day of the shooting on June 12, 2016, before most of the victims were even identified, Trump, then a candidate, sent out a tweet congratulating himself on “being right on radical Islamic terrorism.”
“Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism,” he wrote at the time.

She could never be a saint, but she thought she could be a martyr if they killed her quick.—Flannery O’Connor The mist uncovers Japanese soldiers as well as the grim sight of severed heads by the side of the hot springs where Catholic priests are being tortured. A priest kneels down in horror, almost catatonic, unable to bring himself to believe in the evilness of these men, the men of the Inquisitor. Why are these priests, who came to this “swamp of Japan” to spread the Word of the Lord, suffering so immensely on the hands of these soldiers? To the modern, secular audience, the theme of Silence (2016) is of great irony: the all-powerful Catholic Church, the institution that spread terror across Europe for 700 years with her bonfires and witch hunts and enforcing an almost maddening outlook at faith and personal behavior, comes to an unconquerable land where...

Exclusive Q&A: It arrived too late to factor in guild and critics awards, but the Clint Eastwood-directed American Sniper has established such a connection with American movie audiences that its dark horse chances of upsetting the Oscar status quo cannot be ignored. It passed Saving Private Ryan to become the highest domestic grossing war movie ever; it even shot past the U.S. gross of Bradley Cooper’s previous biggest hit, The Hangover, and trails only The Passion Of The Christ for biggest-ever R-rated domestic grosser. This, for a hard R film about the wartime exploits and horrors faced by the most dangerous sniper in U.S. military history, and the price paid by Chris Kyle, wife Taya, and his fellow soldiers tasked with door to door searches in Sadr City when it was the most dangerous place in Iraq.

As we plow through more seasons of "Big Brother," "So You Think You Can Dance," and "The Bachelor" this summer, it's hard not to ask what the merits of winning a reality competition are. Do we applaud manipulative prowess? Sheer talent? Sheer watchability? Every show is different, but -- with the exception of the last couple seasons of "Sytycd" -- one thing is certain: There can only be one winner. And fans usually bathe that winner in a glorious light for eternity. Unless that winner is a drug-ring leader on "Big Brother" or a tax-evading weirdo on "Survivor," of course. Then exceptions are made. We got to thinking about our favorite reality shows and the winners who made them great. After narrowing down the options and reducing reality TV to its most phenomenal victories and players, we came up with this Top 11. Enjoy below, the 11 greatest reality show winners ever.

The term “religious experience” gets thrown around a little too much nowadays. We hear it used to describe food, art, sex — even sports.

No, no, no. Noooo! We haven’t even reached the live shows of So You Think You Can Dance‘s eleventh season and already I’m sobbing like the world’s biggest onion is getting diced in my living room?
Yep, my eyes got misty as Ricky Ubeda delivered such an emotionally devastating solo that Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy might as well have given him a “Go Directly to the Top 4″ card (without passing “Go” or collecting $200). I shook a fist at the heavens after the absolutely fabulous Johnny Waacks (along with ballroom stud Armen Way and crazy-beautiful Justine Lutz) got booted without explanation.

Some Muslims don't wan't to see Darren Aronofsky's new movie because Crowe plays Noah, a sacred figure in Islam. And it turns out that Christians aren't too keen on watching it either
Name: Noah.
Age: Minus two weeks.
Appearance: That depends. There are about seven different versions.
I'm confused. I thought there was only one Noah in the Bible? And didn't he live for 950 years? Sure, in a biblical kind of way.
But? But we're not talking about Noah the person, we're talking about Noah the movie.
There's a movie? Actually there are several. They all star Russell Crowe as Noah, and they were all directed by Darren Aronofsky.
Eh? Paramount Pictures has edited and re-edited Aronofsky's original to try to find a version that Christians will go crazy for, like they did for The Passion of the Christ.
Ok. And how's that going? Not well. Test audiences didn't...

On Monday, Jan. 13, NBC's obstacle-course competition series "American Ninja Warrior" presents a two-hour special, "USA vs. Japan," in which five top competitors from "Ninja" go up against five competitors from the Japanese show that inspired it, "Sasuke."
While Japanese competitors have finished the final course at the original Mt. Midoriyama, America's contenders have so far failed to take it all on the Las Vegas version of the giant course. Now, the Americans and the Japanese, rather than tackling the course on their own with only the clock ad direct competition, will now go head-to head.
Competing for America are Brian Arnold (who went out on stage three in Las Vegas), Paul Kasemir, James McGrath, Travis Rosen and Brent Steffenson. Up for Japan are Kazuma Asa, Hitoshi Kanno, Ryo Matachi, Shingo Yamamoto and two-time champion Yuji Urushihara.
Hosts are Matt Iseman, former NFL player Akbar Gbajai-Biamila and Jenn Brown.

A scene from Fragment..
When Fragment, an Australian thriller from first-time writer-director Andrew Miles is released on DVD in November, it will mark the end of a long and chequered journey for the filmmaker.
The plot follows Lloyd, a war photographer who is diagnosed with a brain tumour after fragments of depleted uranium penetrate his skull. He fears the tumour is killing him but discovers he's acquired the power to reanimate the dead by photographing them.
After witnessing a snuff movie, he brings the victim of the film, the beautiful and enigmatic Victoria, back to life, only to find out he's also brought back her dead killer. Wayne Bradley plays Lloyd, with Bree Robertson as Victoria and Ian S. McPhee, Miles. best friend, as the killer.
Miles started shooting the thriller in Sydney using $20,000 of his own money. The original DoP quit after the first weekend and his camera assistant...

So You Think You Can Dance season 10 contestant Tucker Knox revealed via Instagram that he was gay – and married. A simple post titled “I’m gonna start a “fall back Friday” mainly cuz I miss the hubs and that beach!” appeared, and now we have another gay Sytycd star. A second photo verified the marriage, and noted that they married five months ago in New York.
Cloudy With Chance of Meatballs is set to win the box office easily with $35 million. I loved the first one, and even watched part of it again Friday night on Cartoon Network. It’s punny and charming. I can’t wait to see the new one. Rush, Prisoners, Don Jon, and Baggage Claim are battling it out for second around the $10 million mark.

If you heard pained whines coming from the direction of West Hollywood on Sunday night, it actually wasn’t the vocals of “Work Bi**h” ringing through Mickey’s. It was me dealing with the fact that The Voice won Best Reality Competition over the superior So You Think You Can Dance, all due to the fact that voters are enamored of the show’s nice-guy approach to karaoke criticism. “It doesn’t matter what you look like!” The Voice assures its contestants, confusing self-congratulation and condescension for acceptance. “Just sing!” But after watching the fifth season premiere, I am more confident than ever that I dislike everything this show stands for — especially these five things.

In our fabulous conversation Nakul also indulged me and chatted even more about dance and his work on So You Think You Can Dance (Sytycd). Check out what he had to say about working on season 10 of the fabulous dance reality show and more in part 2 of our exclusive interview!
It was a great season this year for Bollywood on Sytycd…
You know, it was a little later than normal when they contacted me for this season. I never take anything for granted. That is just who I am. Anything that comes to me I embrace it I just feel a sense of gratitude, even if it is something that happens every year for me, I never, ever feel that it is going to happen no matter what.
