Few shows remain relevant following the end of their run, but Suits staged a big comeback last year when the first eight seasons landed on Netflix.
The former USA Network legal drama broke countless streaming records and reignited interest in the franchise.
Recognizing an opening to restart the franchise, NBC put a spinoff — Suits: L.A. — into development.
Despite being billed as a shoo-in for a pickup for the 2024-2025 TV season, it was absent from the recent wave of NBC series orders and the network’s fall 2024 schedule.
Thankfully, the lack of pickup isn’t bad news because NBC has yet to watch the Suits L.A. pilot.
“We’re excited about this. It’s a pilot and we’ll be screening it in June … Assuming that it gets picked up it would be for midseason next year,” NBCUniversal boss Jeff Bader shared this week, according to The Wrap.

NBC is keeping its new Suits hanging a while longer.
The network on Friday announced its schedule for the 2024-25 TV season, and the offshoot Suits: L.A. — which has yet to receive a series order — was notably absent from the lineup. However, the pilot is still in contention, with a decision to be made at a later date after execs screen the episode in June. If picked up to series, Suits: L.A. could air midseason or roll over to the 2025-26 season, the network notes.

One major problem that plagued most Arrowverse shows was CW’s inability to end them at the right time. While most of them started on a high note, especially Grant Gustin’s The Flash, which was the biggest superhero show on TV upon its release, the writers couldn’t carry the momentum in the later seasons. But things could have been very different for the CW show that started it all, Arrow.
Had CW stuck to the original plans for the show, Arrow could’ve ended on a really high note, as instead of going on for 8 seasons, season 5 was originally intended to be the show’s end.

Stephen Amell’s performance within the Arrowverse is one that is regarded by many to be a fan favorite. He is much loved because of the same. However, post its success, there were certain controversies he found himself in the midst of. Overcoming it all, the actor still stands strong in the Hollywood industry. A legacy of the same was created upon Arrow’s end.

Ever since then, the actor hasn’t been seen in a significant superhero role. While fans want to see him once again as Oliver Queen in James Gunn’s DC Universe, that outcome is not one that can come to fruition any time soon. That is not to say that a possible entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is also out of the picture. In fact, it was Amell who proposed his interest in the same.

Stephen Amell led the cast of Arrow for nine seasons, becoming the face of The CW’s Arrowverse, which lasted for almost a decade. Amell is known for playing the role of Oliver Queen, playboy billionaire by day and vigilante by night. However, Amell’s own life trajectory is nothing like that of the character he embodied for eight seasons.
Stephen Amell starred as Oliver Queen / Green Arrow for eight seasons of Arrow.

As a result, Amell’s origin story is in stark contrast to that of the character that made him a household name. Here is what Stephen Amell has said about his initial struggles in Hollywood and how they contrast Oliver Queen’s story.

DC Comics has no dearth of power packed characters. Who wouldn’t be afraid of the might of Superman or even Darkseid for that matter. And the wit of Batman needs no introduction. But what if we told you that there is one character in the comic book universe who has got Bruce Wayne’s wit and talent for strategy, while he has also got Superman’s brawns. There is one, though – Deathstroke. The mighty assassin is one of DC Comics’ most dreaded. But the Arrowverse could not do the character justice.

After setting streaming records for months on end last year, Suits is heading to a new — or rather, old — frontier: broadcast syndication.
The former USA Network series will make its over-the-air debut in the fall on the Fox-owned MyNetwork TV programming service. All nine seasons (134 episodes in total) will be available via the service, which covers about 97 percent of TV homes in the United States.

Fans were deeply disheartened after Heels season 3 was canceled by Starz Network. However, Netflix acquiring both seasons 1 and 2 of Heels became a ray of hope for both the fans and the show’s creators.
The show chronicles the story of twin brothers who are pro-wrestlers. It stars big television personalities like Arrow‘s Stephen Amell, Vikings star Alexander Ludwig, singer Alison Luff, and In Plain Sight actor Mary McCormack among others.

Heels Season 1 hit our screens for the first time in 2021. It chronicled the story of the Spade brothers – Jack and Ace portrayed by Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, who are working to keep their father’s independent wrestling promotion afloat after his death. Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig‘s wrestling series Heels was canceled by Starz after two seasons, but there’s a chance the show might have extra life.
It was just announced that Netflix has acquired nonexclusive rights to the first two seasons of the show and will soon stream all 16 episodes that have already aired.
So, what does this mean for a season three?
Keep reading to find out more…
The Hollywood Reporter says that “while Netflix has not renewed the series, the streamer could wind up doing so should Heels perform well on the platform.”
So basically, if enough people watch Heels seasons one and two once they’re added to Netflix, the streamer might order a third season.
It might be tough to get a third season though with Stephen and Alexander both moving on to other shows. It definitely looks like Stephen is excited though. See his reaction below!

Heels fans might have to get ready to rumble once again ’cause the chances of Season 3 happening may have just increased quite a bit. The Starz wrestling drama centers on a pair of rival brothers (played by Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig) who go toe-to-toe over the future of their late father’s wrestling promotion business. Following Season 2’s run on the pay cable network, the series was canceled due to lackluster viewership. However, the fans it did have were dedicated and deeply disappointed that it ended on a cliffhanger, as the fate of Amell’s Jack Spade was left in question when he suffered an injury that left him without feeling in his legs. Showrunner and series star Mike O’Malley expressed hope that the series would return, however, telling Busted Open Radio (via Wrestling Inc.), “We want to save Heels, and we want it to go on someplace else.

Heels might be headed back to the ring.
The drama, which was unceremoniously canceled along with a couple more series as Starz cleaned house in September, has been licensed to Netflix by Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution. With the acquisition, Netflix will have non-exclusive rights to the two-season, 16-episode library of the wrestling drama starring Stephen Amell (Arrow) and Alexander Ludwig (Vikings).
Sources also note that while Netflix has not renewed the series, the streamer could wind up doing so should Heels perform well on the platform. Those same sources also caution that a third season, even in success, could still be a logistical challenge. Amell — a die-hard wrestling fan who often would perform his own stunts on Heels — signed on in February as the lead in NBC’s highly anticipated spinoff of Suits. The offshoot of the former USA Network original is one of but five pilots in the works at NBC.

There’s nobody quite like Harvey Specter. The character from Suits is undeniably one of the best ever created. Since the show ended, the fan base for this character has only grown stronger. As a result, the idea of a spin-off emerged called Suits L.A., and work on it is in full swing, although details are still tightly under wraps.
While it’s a spin-off, the show promises to offer audiences something new while maintaining the integrity of the original series. And Stephen Amell’s character, Ted Black, already proves that while loosely inspired by Harvey Specter, Black differs from Specter in one significant way.

Have you noticed that a lot of science-fiction movies haven't felt so fictional of late? Oh sure, the genre has always been about our real-world problems in the present day. Yet, as technology has caught up to our collective imaginations, a lot of would-be fantastical representations of the future have come to resemble our current hellscape but either slightly shinier and/or dingier and with A.I. that's capable of more than cranking out fake YouTube film trailer screencaps of men standing behind nude women. Even movies set thousands of years from now on distant planets tend to be about the all-too-topical concern of young white twinks embracing fascism (much to the dismay of their progressive girlfriends).
As dour and sometimes surreal as these movies are, they're also excellent vehicles for filmmakers to talk about the biggest issues of the day and, in doing so, perhaps make them feel just...

From Lance in The Other Two to Pug in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law to Manny in Abbott Elementary, and even Danny in Scream VI, Segarra’s recent roles may not all be the sharpest tools in the shed, but there’s no denying that they’re all kind and loyal at their core. When cousins Robbie and Stephen Amell teamed with filmmakers Jeff Chan and Chris Paré in 2016, on the short film Code 8, they had little concept for the journey that laid ahead of them, which would see them build their own successful sci-fi franchise from the ground up.
After self-financing the 10-minute film and watching it garner over 7 million views on YouTube, the team moved to crowdfund a Code 8 feature via Indiegogo, far surpassing their goal at a take exceeding $2.5Mm. When the film debuted on Netflix at peak Covid, in April 2020 — four months after hitting theaters and VOD — it achieved such strong viewership that Netflix moved to finance a sequel itself, one that would mark the service’s first original English-language Canadian feature. It debuted at #1 on its English-Language Films chart for the week of February 26 and brought the original film atop the charts once more, at #4.
