You may like to think of yourself as a huge Marvel fan, but chances are your superhero obsession isn’t quite at the levels reached by seventeen-year-old Kieron Harvey, who reportedly watched Avengers: Infinity War a staggering 100 times within the first 44 days of the blockbuster being in cinemas.
The teenager from Staffordshire, England seems a little surprised himself at the level of dedication he’s shown, despite having a history of showing up to theaters a whole load of times to see Marvel characters on the big screen.
I really didn’t plan on seeing it this many times it just sort of happened, I go to the cinema an awful lot anyway, I saw Black Panther 30 times and so far have seen the new Deadpool 20 times.
However Avengers just felt so different to anything I’ve ever seen before, and I just love it so much so have been...

Based on the 1997 Dutch show of the same name, “Big Brother” premiered in the Us in 2000 and the franchise took over the world with editions of the show filmed around the globe. Who would have thought that a concept of “Big Brother” watching you from “1984” by George Orwell would become the basis of a reality TV show? Take a group of individuals, sequester them from society, and let the cameras roll. What’s the worst that could happen? Before I talk about psychology I must make a disclaimer. We’ve seen it a bunch of times before: A film acquired by Netflix performs well, and the streaming service commissions a series based vaguely on the concept. “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” led to David Gelb heading up “Chef’s Table.” “Wet Hot American Summer” begat “First Day of Camp.” And the 2015 documentary “Hot Girls Wanted” now brings us “Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On.”
Created by Ronna Gradus, Jill Bauer, and Rashida Jones, this documentary series is (despite the title) not all that explicit. It is, however, deeply embedded in the idea that human beings like to have sex, and thus exploring the ways in which technology and commerce have become embedded in that basic biological urge.

Big Brother does love a twist, so this Friday three former housemates will be returning to join the 'fake evictee' in a Secret Lair. And goodness, did that spark some conversations at DS Towers about who should return!
Of course, some of our picks have been on Ultimate Big Brother, but we're going to ignore that (we're not sure it's canon when Ulrika Jonsson can be dubbed an 'ultimate' housemate, to be honest). And while there are obviously plenty of amazing contestants from years gone by, we couldn't choose them all. But below are just some of our choices for Friday's big twist - let us know who you want to throw back in!
Nick 'Nasty Nick' Bateman (Big Brother 1)
Series one was something of an untainted golden era for Big Brother. The show was yet to be overrun with perma-tanned attention seekers and was a genuinely fascinating human experiment:...

Big Brother pulled out a great task last night - it was impossible not to snigger at the housemates screaming their heads off at everything from teddy bears to non-existent bumps in the night. And it was such a good one that it got us thinking about some of our other favourite challenges across Big Brother history.
We've left out Celebrity Big Brother, but below we picked just some of our favourite ever tasks. It turned out to be quite a tough ask to narrow it down, given how many there have been over the years. Read on to see what we picked, and let us know what you loved in the comments...
1. Boogie Nights (Big Brother 2)

We have a full set of housemates in Big Brother 2014 now - and they had their fair share of ridiculous audition videos (hello Helen, whose extended cut on Bit On The Side included the charming phrase: "I'm hotter than a steaming pile of s**t.") But all of this just got us reminiscing about some of our favourite VTs from over the years. We've picked out just ten of our most memorable below...
1. Bonnie Holt (Big Brother 7)
Without question, the best audition video of all time. Bonnie turned out to be shy and quieter than a mouse in the house - which she put down to not having her suitcase - but her audition video is so ridiculous and hilarious that it's almost a work of art. We don't know if we'll ever tire of watching it - from Bon's declaration that she is "sexy, and funny, and everything,...

My favourite books of 2013 are Drama High (Riverhead) by Michael Sokolove, Sea Creatures (Turnaround) by Susanna Daniel, and & Sons (Harper Collins) by David Gilbert. Drama High is incredibly smart, moving non-fiction about an American drama teacher who for four decades coaxed sophisticated and nuanced theatrical performances out of teenage students who weren't privileged or otherwise remarkable and in so doing, changed their conceptions of what they could do with their lives. Sea Creatures is a gripping, beautifully written novel about the mother of a selectively mute three-year-old boy; when she takes a job ferrying supplies to a hermit off the coast of Florida,...

The following is an introduction to a new edition of Anthony Burgess's "A Clockwork Orange" [W.W. Norton, $24.95] written by Andrew Biswell. The piece sheds light on the enduring legacy of the novel, and the various dystopian works that influenced Burgess's writing. Biswell also discusses Burgess's (often clever) responses to the novel's adaptation, and ideas for adaptations that never came to fruition:
In 1994, less than a year after Anthony Burgess had died at the age of seventy-six, BBC Scotland commissioned the novelist William Boyd to write a radio play in celebration of his life and work. This was broadcast during the Edinburgh Festival on 21 August 1994, along with a concert performance of Burgess’s music and a recording of his Glasgow Overture. The programme was called "An Airful of Burgess," with the actor John Sessions playing the parts of both Burgess and his fictional alter ego, the poet F. X. Enderby. On the same day,...

The second season premiere of "Outrageous Kid Parties" is on TLC tonight and I've always hated the whole concept of expensive overdone parties for kids under the age of ten. Most of them are mentally and physically exhausted after about two hours and god forbid you drop a huge chunk of cash on a day long petting zoo rental only to have the birthday boy or girl collapse into a tantrum half way through. But my feelings may also stem from the fact that I barely remember most of my childhood birthdays beyond getting cake so I'm really glad my parents got all the decorations from Oriental Trading Company and the cake from Baskin Robbins so I don't have to feel guilty about the fact that all the parties run together in my mind. The PGA Championship helped CBS win the Sunday night ratings battle. The golf tournament saw 9.3m viewers tuning in from 7pm. Coverage of the event ran slightly long, causing the network's schedule to be shifted back by an hour and five minutes. Consequently, 60 Minutes began at 8.05pm, drawing nearly 8m viewers, while Big Brother 13 pulled in 7.2m from about 9pm. Finally, Same Name attracted 4.8m from 10pm. ABC took second place, starting the night with iAM First: Science is Rock and Roll, which saw 2.2m viewers tuning in from 7pm. The Cma Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock took up the rest of the evening, drawing 6.3m from 8pm, before rising to (more)...

Fox's sketch comedy series In the Flow With Affion Crockett, originally slated to premiere in midseason, had a quiet launch last night with two back-to-back episodes at 9 Pm (1.3/3 among adults 18-49) and 9:30 Pm (1.0/3), ranking below the repeats of The Simpsons (1.4/4) and Family Guy (1.7/5) that preceded them. ABC's I.Am.First: Science Is Rock 'N Roll special was down 60% from what an America's Funniest Home Videos rerun averaged in the 7 Pm hour last week and probably dragged down the Cma Music Festival (1.6/5, 7 million viewers). The music special was down from last year's telecast, which aired on Sept. 1 (Wednesday). However, total audience-wise, the festival was up by 1 million viewers. Because of a PGA Championship overrun (1.7/6), CBS' lineup slid by more than an hour. 60 Minutes (2.0/6) kicked things off at 8:05 Pm, followed by Big Brother (2.5/6), which was down 14% from last week, and Same Name (1.5/4), which gave up some of the gains it posted last week,...

One of the joys of working on the internet is, of course, your complete and utter helplessness when your equipment decides that it wants to be a bastard. Oh, sure, your computer will tell you that you've got full wireless signal and the modem will have all the little lights on saying that the internet is connected and wireless is working but does that mean you can actually access any websites? No. No it does not. And as satisfying as it would be to throw all those little gadgets that smirk at you with their little Led indicator lights across the room, you know you can't because that will just make the whole situation worse, somehow. And when you finally figure out the right combination of cords and switching it off for 30 seconds and turning it back on to make everything work, it makes even less sense which just aggravates you more.

Tonight, Discovery seems to be airing a non-Shark Week themed show since "One Man Army" is airing at its usual time. I've checked the episode description and nowhere does it mention Anything about sharks so that's frustrating and confusing. They've managed to make episodes of "Mythbusters" and "Dirty Jobs" that were Shark Week themed so I don't know why they can't just do that for all shows that air during Shark Week. And since the same company owns TLC and Discovery channel maybe they could send a few sharks over to "Toddlers and Tiaras" to get these parents to have a little perspective. "What's that? Your little girl doesn't like it when you bleach her hair because it burns? That's a shame. We've got someone to help you deal with those feelings. Actually, several someones. Or somethings. We’ve been waiting all day and at 9.55pm this evening, this year’s first full length Big Brother promo aired on Channel 5.
It was like a who’s who of famous Bb faces from years gone by and we had quite a lot of fun spotting and naming some of our favourite (and also most annoying) housemates.
We have compiled most of them in a list below, though we know there are some names missing, so feel free to leave a comment below if you can identify any more.
The video starts out with Makosi on the phone and leads into various cast members dancing and miming to an adaptation of David Guetta’s popular dance track – When Love Takes Over renamed When Bruv Takes Over and at the end, as all the Bb stars gathered in what looked like a massive field, Marcus Bentley exclaimed:

Over here in Rusty-land it's one of those Wednesday that seems to be taking forever but at the same time every so often I'll look up at the clock and be like "wait, it's what time now? Crap." I find this to be a particular problem with Wednesdays, perhaps because of the transition from first half of the week to second half of the week at least if you're going by the standard Monday to Friday week schedule. Although perhaps I should be more upbeat since according to today's xkcd Wednesday is frequently Ladies' night. Oh, right, there's also some television going on. I don't think I've mentioned that this is the last season of "Rescue Me" yet so I'm going to now, because it gives me something to talk about tonight that's actually sort of interesting. Now in it's seventh season, the show has been variously praised for its portrayal of Ptsd and alcoholism in Tommy Gavin (Denis Leary) and derided for romanticizing a man who is a consummate asshole. I'm more of the opinion that it's a combination of both. I mean, those two characterizations aren't really at odds with each other. Damaged people aren't always saints and assholes can have terrible things happen to them and genuine problems to deal with. Doesn't make them the most sympathetic of characters, but sometimes it can make for more interesting stories and interactions. Also, it's one of those rare shows that really got to plan out their ending, since the announcement that this...

The complaints about how I never watch TV have begun again so I'll address them. The truth is, I probably watch Way More TV than most of you because I'm currently unemployed, but that doesn't mean I watch a lot of different shows. I'm opposed to the reality genre mostly on principle and secretly because every time I've tried to watch one of those shows either my eyes glaze over and I lose three hours or they make me want to kill people. Not euphemistically either, like I start planning ways to get on a plane and fly to whatever location those individuals live at and kill them and that's just not mentally healthy. Also, it takes something special to get me hooked on a show and I can't ever really say what that is. Not quality, because I won't even begin to pretend that all the shows I watch...

It's an attitude thing, as I don't have a ton extra to do this week than I do any other week, but somehow that doesn't really seem to be the issue at hand. Anyway, we've got a few premieres and more finales on TV tonight, gearing up towards next week when the regular shows come back in force and all those series premieres that have been hyped for the last six weeks finally begin to show up to be judged according to their content rather than their sexy commercials (Looking at you, "Undercover"). So that's something to look forward to. Here's your Wednesday night TV:
8:00pm: "America's Got Talent" on NBC.

"America's Next Top Model" returns tonight to the joy and delight of all (okay, mainly to the joy and delight of figgy). I won't be watching, because I've seen a significant amount of the show thanks to my sister and it suffers from the same problem as all reality shows; while I am vaguely interested in the topics they cover (modeling, fashion, make up, etc.) I am not at all interested in the contestants. You know why Tyra makes it all about her? Because most of the girls on that show aren't half as interesting as they like to think they are. And we're supposed to be interesting when they stir shit up? Listen, you lock me in a house with at least a dozen other women between 18 and 24 with no regular TV, internet, or phone access and I'd probably get a little crazy and eat someone else's yogurt or whatever the hell too.

I'm trying to adjust to a new schedule and my body, which got to spend a whole summer sleeping until around 11am almost every day and then was free to take indulgent and unnecessary naps, is fighting back pretty hard. I keep waking up in the middle of the night totally ready to go, but three or four hours later when I actually have to be awake it's like I've been shot in the ass with a tranq dart. I'm hoping this all sorts itself out within a week because I'd really like to become a productive member of society one day and I get the impression that most of those people aren't hopping out of bed to start their day at the crack of noon. Here's your Wednesday night TV:
8:00pm: "Cma Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" on ABC. That theme is dumber than dumb.

I've been attempting to watch more television, or at least more shows, right now while I don't have too many other obligations so I can look at least partially informed about the shows I write about. I say "attempting" because half the time it goes something like this: Family Member - "What's that?"
Me - "Oh, it's this new show I'm watching so I can talk about it on my column."
Family Member - "...This is terrible" *changes channel*
And so on. However, while working on watching those terrible shows I tend to see more commercials than I'd really like to and have developed strong and irrational feelings of hatred towards some of them. I discussed the creepy car insurance guy previously, but one of my other least favorite series of ads is the one for Miller Lite where the guys who don't want Miller Lite possess feminine traits or attire.

One of the more pernicious affects that high school seems to have on culture at large is the idea that everyone has to be categorized. I'm not sure if this arose from popular media telling high schoolers that people fit into neat little easily cast boxes or if it arose from actual high school experiences but I tend to lean towards the latter; teenagers are nothing if not judgmental and insecure so the tendency to assign and dutifully live up to labels is almost all they're good for. This has carried over into reality television, which conveniently cuts the first few episodes of the season so we can get to see who's going to be playing The Bitch, The Jock, The Brain, The Geek, etc. So, of the shows on tonight (if you watch any of them) what category do you think the characters fall into and is it the...

The one thing Shark Week is missing, in my opinion, is a theme song. Some sort of rallying call for shark fans to use as a ring tone, to sing at karaoke night or some other expression of their shark devotion. I'm not a songwriter, but I've got a few existing songs that could be easily altered to fit the shark week motif because one of my favorite leisure time activities is altering the lyrics to popular songs to fit random situations in my life. (One of my favorites a while ago was changing N.E.R.D's ode to bathroom cocaine usage to "All the doggies standing in a line at the back door!" when I would get home. Yes, I am that cool.) A couple suggestions right off the top of my head: "Rude Boy" by Rihanna ("Do you chomp chomp chomp what I chomp chomp chomp?"), "California...

Sometimes when I've got TV on more for background noise than for entertainment purposes (hello "Criminal Minds" marathons!) I tend to notice certain commercials more frequently. One of the commercials, or series of commercials really, that I've been noticing more frequently these days is the State Farm commercials with the dark haired tall guy who wants to tell you all about how awesome State Farm is, except whenever all these commercials come on all I can think is "Why Are You So Creepy?!?" I can't quite pin point what I find so off putting about him, but it doesn't help that the first commercials I saw with him involved him looming around while stuff happened to other people and then twisting it in a way that related back to car insurance and made him sound like a car insurance obsessed stalker. The fact that he's constantly smiling doesn't make the whole thing any better.

So... unlike the Hulk, y'all apparently like me when I'm angry. I'd like to thank everyone for the overwhelmingly positive response to my little rant and offer my apologies to Canadians; I've been to your country many times and everyone I've met has been unfailingly lovely and the maple syrup really is that good. It did feel good to get some of those frustrations off my chest, but now everything is back to normal, where I just insult bad television. At least for the time being. Here's Wednesday night's TV:
8:00pm: "Big Brother" on CBS
"Minute to Win It" on NBC
"PBS Special: Tavis Smiley Reports: New Orleans: Been in the Storm Too Long" on PBS. Some of the PBS shows I want to start typing in the style of "Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters" just to highlight how unnecessary and ridiculous these title constructions are.

Tonight's column is pretty low stress for me; I know most people are still busy drooling over the Pajiba Ten so my readership will probably be very low as I'm not posting multiple pictures of hot celebrities. No, I only get whatever is on TV tonight to draw people in and that's, well, it's mostly crap as we've previously discussed. I can basically say whatever I want to. Banana. Pickle farts. Humdinger. Eyeballs. Here's what's on TV tonight if you can bear to leave your bunk to watch it:
8:00pm: "Big Brother" on CBS
"Minute to Win It" on NBC
"PBS Special: Breakfast Special" on PBS. That just makes me think of Denny's, which is only good either really early in the morning, really late at night, or those strange couple hours that are kind of both. No, that has nothing to do with PBS. Whatever.

John James and Ben were stuck to walls in the latest 'Big Brother' task. The pair were chosen by Mario - who had been selected to take on a key role in the Sticky Science Experiment - to be the subjects of the test, with David and Josie having to attach the Australian to one area with glue and Ife and Caoimhe given tape to secure the writer-and-broadcaster to another wall. Mario was then sent by Big Brother to a special observation room where he was given a packed lunch and told his part of the task was to predict the outcome by ..

1. Why did apply for Junior Apprentice?
I applied for Junior Apprentice because I thought that it would give me the opportunity to display my raw business talent, and demonstrate that academics have more to give to the world than just booksmarts.

The Four Lions star and Mc on stereotyping, being mixed-up, and why not making sense doesn't worry him
There's traditionally been a bit of antipathy towards actors making music ...
Has there? [Laughs] F**k! But I guess that's if you're doing one thing, and you suddenly cash those chips in to do the other. The fact is, I've been releasing records longer than I've been releasing films, or at least exactly as long. There's a track record there – this isn't a quick cash-in. I'm not like someone who's come out of the Big Brother house and decided to release a single.
The only people who have doubts about the sincerity of my music are people who come to it relatively late, off the back of having seen me in a film. Acting is about being other people and music is about being myself. Or at least trying to find out who that is.

While the number of gay/bisexual characters on scripted television has, at best, held steady over the past decade (and doesn’t exactly represent the diversity of gay men in the real world), it’s a different story when it comes to the depiction of gay men on reality television. Indeed, along with the explosion of reality programming has come a dramatic increase in the numbers and types of gay and bisexual men appearing on our television screens.
From the groundbreaking appearance of Pedro Zamora on The Real World: San Francisco to the current seasons of The Amazing Race, Survivor: Tocantins, and Make Me a Supermodel, there is a breadth of gay men that is quite frankly astounding.
In fact, there have now been so many gay and bisexual men on reality television that we decided to let AfterElton.com readers choose their favorites of all time. Here...
