A24 has officially signed on to John Patton Ford’s “Huntington” (working title) for U.S. distribution. Also joining are new cast members Ed Harris and Margaret Qualley, who will star alongside the previously announced Glen Powell.
“Huntington” is a revenge thriller that follows Becket Redfellow (Powell), the “heir to a multi-billion-dollar fortune who will stop at nothing to get what he deserves… Or what he thinks he deserves.”
Ford will direct “Huntington” (or whatever it is titled by then). He already wrote the original screenplay, which was inspired by the film’s financier Studiocanal’s “Kind Hearts and Coronets,” the classic 1949 crime film starring Alec Guinness, who famously played eight different roles in the film.

The second season of Goosebumps at Disney+ has cast David Schwimmer in a lead role.
The Emmy-nominated Friends star will head the cast of the show, based on R.L. Stine’s hugely popular series of books. Disney+ renewed Goosebumps for a second season in February, opting to turn the show into an anthology rather than continuing the story from season one.
Following Schwimmer’s casting, Disney+ announced that Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty, Love Victor), Sam McCarthy (Dead to Me), Jayden Bartels (Side Hustle), Elijah Cooper (That Girl Lay Lay), Galilea La Salvia (Party Down) and Francesca Noel have also joined the series.
The season two logline reads, “Teenage siblings discover a threat stirring, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”

Ralph Macchio, who starred in the original “The Karate Kid” from 1984, and martial arts legend Jackie Chan, who appeared in the 2010 reboot “The Karate Kid,” are both returning to the franchise for Sony’s upcoming sequel film.
The two actors will each reprise their original characters but are joining together in the same movie for the first time. On November 21, Chan and Macchio shared in a video they’d be returning to the film, but they also revealed the studio is launching a global casting search to find the next Karate Kid. They’re encouraging you to wax on and wax off and submit your best video online for a chance to star in the movie.
Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but the studio is aiming to release the still-untitled project on December 13, 2024.

“There are no small roles,” said famed acting teacher Konstantin Stanislavski. Did he foresee the future of William Jackson Harper, whose addition to the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been confirmed by Disney sources?
What that role is for Harper is being kept under wraps for now. Harper is best known for starring as Chidi Anagonye in NBC’s multi-dimensional The Good Place, which should give him a proper background in shifting between universes. The Good Place role earned him an Emmy nomination for supporting comedy actor.
Harper joins Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas in the cast. All are reprising their roles from 2015’s Ant-Man and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp.
The third film is expected to follow the Ant-Man team as they tangle with Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), the time-traveling overlord who resides in the microscopic universe of the Quantum Realm.

Less than a year ago, Paramount Global found a new reason to cheer about the midnight hour.
In December, the company did something few of its competitors could do: It struck a deal with Google to have three different late-night hosts weave a promotional message about the search-engine giant into their programs. On the night of December 15, Stephen Colbert, James Corden and Trevor Noah all nodded to Google during CBS’ “Late Show” and “Late Late Show” and Comedy Central’s “Daily Show.” The ad deal represented a vote of confidence in a sturdy portfolio of late-night programs that spanned broadcast and cable.
Now, a good chunk of the talent in that collection is gearing up to move.

Trevor Noah is nearing his last laugh on “The Daily Show.”
The comedian, who came out of near anonymity to take over the program from Jon Stewart in 2015, plans to exit the flagship Comedy Central series after a seven-year tenure that saw him transform it for a new generation of viewers who are more at home on social media than they are cable outlets and broadcast networks.
Noah revealed his plans to an audience at Thursday evening’s taping of the program in New York, saying that “I’ve loved hosting this show. It’s been one of my greatest challenges. The series is based on the Tom Wolfe novel of the same name. Variety exclusively reported the show had received a straight-to-series order at the streamer in November 2021. It hails from David E. Kelley with Regina King onboard to direct and executive produce.
In the show, Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker (Daniels) faces sudden bankruptcy. Political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.
Harper plays Wes Jordan, the incumbent mayor of Atlanta. Up for reelection, Wes will do whatever it takes to ensure victory over his opponent, who is quickly gaining in the polls.

Richards’ character is a tough weapons expert charged with arming Gabriel’s crew. Michael Teh, Joshua Burdett, Lee Kholafai, Korrina Rico, Silvio Samic and Greg Canestrari round out the international principal cast.

He joins previously announced stars Asante Blackk, Tiffany Haddish, Kylie Rogers, Clifton Collins Jr., Michael Gandolfini, Josh Hamilton and Brooklynn MacKinzie in the film from MGM, Plan B Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures.
Based on National Book Award winner M.T. Anderson’s novel of the same name, “Landscape With Invisible Hand” is a heightened comedy set in a deeply stratified, alien future and marks Finley’s third film after “Thoroughbreds” and “Bad Education.” The project — produced by Plan B’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner and Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle — is currently in production.
Harper most recently starred in and executive produced the second season of HBO Max’s rom-com anthology series “Love Life,” for which he received an NAACP Image Award nomination and one of his two Critics Choice Award nods.

Hulu has greenlit the series adaptation of the novel “Washington Black,” with Sterling K. Brown now attached to star as well as executive produce.
Variety exclusively reported that the project had received a script commitment with penalty attached at Hulu in September 2019.
Based on the Esi Edugyan novel of the same name, the nine-episode series follows the 19th-century adventures of George Washington “Wash” Black – an 11-year-old boy on a Barbados sugar plantation who must flee after a shocking death threatens to upend his life. Brown will play the gregarious, larger-than-life Medwin Harris, who traveled the world after a traumatic childhood as a Black refugee in Nova Scotia as the de facto Mayor of Black Halifax prioritizes the community over everything except Washington Black, his young protégé. Meeting Wash sends him down a challenging path of self-discovery.

“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah is no stranger to unpacking big political and cultural stories with his nightly monologue and news satire program. It’s no easy task finding the funny in the dumpster fire of news. So it makes sense that Noah’s next projects won’t suffer from a lack of ambition.

Ava DuVernay’s teen superhero pilot “Naomi” has added six more to its cast, including “7th Heaven” and “Hart of Dixie” alum Barry Watson making his return to the network.
Watson will play Greg, Naomi’s adoptive father and a veteran military officer who is serious about his responsibilities at the town’s military base. He is happily married and sees Naomi as the perfect daughter.
Earlier this month, the pilot cast Kaci Walfall as the titular hero, an “effortlessly cool and confident high school student” who discovers she has the ability to travel across the multiverse.
Also joining the cast are Mary-Charles Jones as Naomi’s “fiercely loyal” best friend Annabelle, Aidan Gemme as Annabelle’s “sweet, shy and a bit nerdy” boyfriend, Mouzam Makkar as Naomi’s mother Jennifer, Daniel Puig as Naomi’s ex-boyfriend and Will Meyers as a friend who has a crush on Naomi.

Updated with HFPA response and Time’s Up statement: In a letter addressed to HFPA COO Greg Goecker and Board Chair Meher Tatna, a collective of Hollywood publicists today warned the group it had better make meaningful changes, or risk them telling their star clients to stay away from the Golden Globes.
The HFPA’s board issued a lengthy statement in response, which says in part that the board has “unanimously approved a plan to increase membership to a minimum of 100 members this year, with a requirement that at least 13 percent of the membership be Black journalists.” Read the full statement below.
Time’s Up also issued a statement tonight commending the publicists’ move. Read that below also.
The HFPA, never the most credible of organizations, is usually the subject of an expose every few years. This year was a doozy, with the LA Times uncovering that the group didn’t have a single Black member,...

Last Wednesday an email chain started to circulate around Hollywood’s press agencies, who represent many of the entertainment industry’s top stars. Over the decades, some veteran publicists were getting sick and tired of the demands of The Hollywood Foreign Press, that coterie of about 90 foreign correspondents who originally banded together to get access to movie stars and eventually came to believe they were friends with them.
The HFPA launched the Golden Globes in 1944, and this past season came under fire after the latest in a series of muckraking newspaper stories over the years exposing their susceptibility to exotic junkets and excessive swag, cozy relationships with publicists, and their myopia about diversity within their membership ranks. After refusing to hire a diversity consultant, the HFPA went ahead and recently put some advisors on their payroll, announcing at the Golden Globes, which were an anemic affair this year, that they would make changes.

“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah is developing and may star in a remake of “The President’s Analyst,” the 1967 political satire that starred James Coburn as the Oval Office’s resident psychiatrist. Paramount Pictures will back the film.
Noah will have a critical helping hand when it comes to navigating White House life. Pat Cunnane, who was President Barack Obama’s senior writer and deputy director of messaging, wrote the screenplay for the film. The original became a cult classic thanks to its trippy elements that veered on camp (there’s an animated explanation of microelectronics that has to be seen to be believed). It followed a psychoanalyst who is given a top-secret assignment to help an increasingly paranoid and overly stressed U.S. president. It’s unclear what Cunnane has planned and Paramount isn’t releasing a logline other than to say the story will be told “through the...

Comedian and “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah is teaming up with Paramount to develop a remake of 1967’s “The President’s Analyst” as a potential star vehicle for Noah, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
Pat Cunnane, who served as President Barack Obama’s Senior Writer and Deputy Director of Messaging at the White House, wrote the script, described as a re-examination of the 1967 satire through the lens of the contemporary political landscape.
James Coburn starred in the original film as psychiatrist Sidney Schaefer, who is recruited by the U.S. government to serve as the president’s own top-secret psychoanalyst. On call at all hours and privy to the leader’s most private thoughts, Schaefer develops paranoia, which turns out to be warranted, since numerous international agencies really are out to get him for his access to highly classified information.

Exclusive: Avan Jogia has signed on to the Ruben Fleischer-helmed Zombieland 2, joining original stars Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Abigail Breslin as well as franchise newbie Zoey Deutch in the sequel from Sony Pictures.
Jogia will play Berkeley, the epitome of the bad boy musician that you would hate for your daughter to fall in love with.
The plot: Through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, the Zombie slayers must face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.
Gavin Polone is the producer. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese penned the script and will serve as exec producers. The film will bow October 2019.
This isn’t Jogia’s only apocalyptic project.
