If it were up to us, "Project Runway" would never be "out," it would just play on a loop 24/7/365.
Sadly, Season 14 will say auf wiedersehen on Thursday, November 5th, so now seems like a good time to take stock and rank the previous 13 seasons, with the expectation that the 2015 season will probably fall somewhere in the middle of the pack once it's done. (Tim Gunn "hated" Season 14, but there have been worse.) Every season of PR is a precious, unique little rhinestone, but, like the judges, we have our favorites -- and now it's Our turn to be biased.
So here's our very subjective but still definitive worst-to-best ranking, which may only be challenged by a glare from Nina Garcia, an eye roll from Michael Kors, a "make it work" from Tim Gunn, or an "out" from Heidi Klum.
13. Season 11 (aka 'Teams')Maybe it seemed like a good, or at least dramatic,...

Jack Mackenroth made headlines back in 2007 when he publicly announced his HIV-status on "Project Runway." Six years later, Jack is making headlines again, this time for his efforts to end HIV stigma and encouraging testing.Jack and celebrity photographer Thomas Evans came up with a dynamic visual campaign called HIV= or HIV Equal. Jack described the premise of HIV= to toofab's Lawrence Yee."We're photographing people from all walks of life standing tall with the HIV= logo on their body somewhere," Jack explained. "It's not so much about a person's HIV status, it's about knowing your status. Instead of positive or negative we're all equal."To that end, everyone who is photographed also undergoes confidential testing. But the logo isn't the only part of the campaign, which is backed by World Health Clinicians."You notice in the photos, there's a whole play on words with the word 'status,' Jack explained.

The past week’s been tough with Congress shutting down and Miley doing anything but shutting down. Time for some gay perspective. Here are 15 tweets (including one of my own that I nefariously inserted) by out gay Twitter users we love.
1. Braden Graeber knows why you’re here.
A lot of people exist because their parents didn’t have snapchat.

2. Guy Branum knows who you hurt.

3. I know you bought Bangerz.
If you complain that Miley Cyrus can’t sing, you don’t get to own Bob Dylan albums. — Louis Virtel (@louisvirtel) October 14, 2013
4. Billy Eichner hopes you had fun celebrating on Monday, because it was all a sham.
Columbus gets the credit but in many ways Sandra Bullock found America.

5. Chris Schleicher captions your isolation.

Top Chef is currently cooking in rainy Seattle, but I'd like to offer some sunnier vistas: the ten hottest contestants in Top Chef history. We'll have to save our Tom Colicchio/Rocco Dispirito lust for another post.
In the meantime, take a look at these ten hotties, glare ominously into their eyes like an intrigued Padma Lakshmi, and fight with me in the comments about who should be ranked higher/lower/not at all.
10. Chris Crary (season nine)
You're working with some kind of charm when you can place ninth and still garner the Fan Favorite award, and as you can see, Chris Crary of Top Chef: Texas was working with some fine pectoral charms. Too bad my vision of that season is tainted by weird, vaguely mean-seeming guest judge Pee Wee Herman.
9. Hung Hunyh (season three)
God, I love cockiness. Unabashed, ego-poppin' cockiness. Hung Huynh was a hotshot...

ABC Family's The Fosters has cast the biological son of the lesbian couple with David Lambert, and the troubled teen they take in will be played by Maia Mitchell.

Now that we're headlong into an enjoyable season of Project Runway, it's time to play my favorite game: Ranking Years of Hotties. Heidi Klum's sartorial showdown may be a much different show now than when it premiered in 2004 (!), but the series' consistently hot male contestants remain a hallmark. Compare your listings with mine, gents.
10. Wesley Nault
His stay on season five was short-lived (only two episodes), but the unassumingly chic Wesley Nault left a favorable impression using two key items: 1) his underrated tablecloth/cups ensemble from the season-opening Gristedes challenge, and 2) his passion for wearing little shorts. Look at them. They are the littlest. And he is leggier than Juliet Prowse, thank God. After the show, he enjoyed a personal and professional partnership with fellow season five vet Daniel Feld.

I always roll my eyes when people claim Twitter is a meritocracy. Sure, tweeters with consistently funny tweets tend to win followers faster, but more often than not, Twitter follower counts are about connections, not content. Today I'm pointing you to 15 of the hilarious, interesting, and sometimes mystifying celebrity accounts that I find myself thinking about most. (I hope to more of these Twitter roll calls in the future -- you shouldn't only be following Ashton Kutcher and his cronies!) We'll start with the nuttiest dame in Oscar history; she has under 3,100 followers!

Nationwide praise for Ellen DeGeneres has grown exponentially as the talk show host has endured criticism over her new appointment as spokesperson for JCPenney.
On Saturday, that support culminated with a "pink dollar" flashmob at a JCPenny franchise in New York City. Revelers wore pink outfits as they strolled the aisles of the store as part of an overall effort to back the Texas-based chain's decision to stand behind DeGeneres even as One Million Moms, a division of the American Family Association, threatened a boycott because the comedian is a lesbian.
Greg Rothman, who organized the event on Facebook, told HuffPost Gay Voices he felt particularly inspired when Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly, who is known for having conservative views on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (Lgbt) lifestyles, spoke up in DeGeneres' defense. "I thought, 'Well, the tide of public opinion must be changing,'" Rothman said.

The Project Runway All Stars season premieres this Thursday (January 5th). I'm working on a theory that my favorite designer Mondo Guerra has won. Let me know what you think. Reasons are as follows:
1.) He is literally the best ever. This fact is super indisputable.
2.) Please see his answer to my first interview question below. Going back to normal life was more difficult this time???? Is it because his life has changed drastically???? Am I just putting a ton of question marks at the end of my sentences to imply something???????
3.) He seems like he has something to celebrate, because he's hosting weekly viewing parties every week at Beauty Bar in Denver starting this Thursday (which features a special guest, his Project Runway buddy Michael Costello). Each party has special games and prizes geared around the episode, and February 16th will be a super special benefit for Colorado AIDS...

Watch out! Mondo Guerra is back for the new All-Star season of Project Runway!
“What the heck am I doing here?” is what fashion designer Mondo Guerra said to himself when he wound up back on the Project Runway set for the upcoming All-Star season, which kicks off on Lifetime on January 5th. He's returning to the reality competition along with previous contestants like Season 1’s Austin Scarlett, Season 8’s Michael Costello and Season 4’s Rami Kashou, Guerra admitted that it was a bit of culture shock returning for the tenth season of the show. He took the runner-up spot on the eighth season - in one of the more controversial upsets in the reality show’s history. Is the openly gay Guerra, who revealed his HIV-positive status during that same season, ready to make sure he captures the top spot this time around?

And Nick Adams is in the front inexplicably.
Welcome to Celebrity Twitterwatch, where we get a peek into the fabulous and how they live their lives, 140 characters at a time. This week brings us a wide selection, but it all starts at Christmas, as we find out what the holiday traditions are when Santa has to check Us Weekly to find out if they've been naughty or nice.
Before the holiday can begin, you have to decorate, and even if you know fabulous designers, you may still opt for the Hgtv method. Thankfully, like just about all Diy explanations, even Christmas decorations can sound naughty, especially as Broadway's Nick Adams takes them out of context.

Bravo's Boy Meets Boy was ahead of its time. The 2003 dating reality show, which had confirmed bachelor James Getzlaff choose between a bevy of available men (some of whom were secretly straight), was one of the first shows specifically geared towards the personal and romantic lives of gay men.

And Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, the flagship that led Bravo into a new age of gayness and popularity, not only helped make gay judges and “experts” a staple of competitive reality TV,...

Well, it was weird enough when the White House said that President Obama was going to be on Mythbusters. Now he’s booked himself on The Daily Show on October 27th, just before the “Rally to Restore Sanity.” How is this going to help Democrats in the election? I’m staring at Republican ads nonstop talking about liberals inviting a comedian (Stephen Colbert) to Congress then going home without passing tax reform. This is just feeding the fire.

'Project Runway''s all-star challenge is sew on. A source for AfterElton says that Lifetime will bring back past 'Runway' designers for a special all-stars edition, set to air a week or two before season 6's Aug. 20 launch. Among the designers who will allegedly participate include Chris March, Jeffrey Sebelia, Michael Knight, Daniel Vosovic, Santino Rice, Kenley Collins, Sweet P, Korto Momolu and possibly others. Meanwhile, Christian Siriano, Rami Kashou, Jack Mackenroth, Kit Pistol and Laura Bennett have all turned it down. ...Read more

Since we're still more than a month away from the return of Project Runway, I thought now might be a good time to share a little PR scoop that recently came my way. I haven't confirmed this elsewhere, but I have good reason to trust my source knows of what they speak.
By now, every PR fan knows that show returns on August 20th, but I'm told that a week or two before the show debuts on Lifetime, the network plans to pump up excitement for the return with a special All-Star Challenge featuring past designers.
My source says those confirmed to participate so far include Chris March, Jeffrey Sebelia, Michael Knight, Daniel Vosovic, Santino Rice, Kenley Collins, Sweet P, and Korto Momolu. Others might also participate.

Memo to Lifetime: Whatever you're paying Tim Gunn for Project Runway, double it. No, triple it. Trust me, he's worth it.
At least that's what I keep thinking after watching the first episode of The Fashion Show, Bravo's knock-off of Project Runway, their flagship show which the network lost to Lifetime after a long legal battle.
I get why Bravo wanted to replace their hugely popular franchise; I just don't get why they didn't execute it more smartly or reinvent it somehow. In the premiere episode, everything plays out pretty much exactly as you'd expect with the usual challenges, the collection of variously eccentric designers, the runway competition, and the judges parked in their chairs as they pass judgment on the clothes.
There are a few differences, not that they really add much.
Borrowing from Top Chef, each episode opens with a "quickfire" challenge before proceeding onto the main event.

It's The Best.Gay.Week.Ever! But In Designer Clothes!
Oh, the irony of having me write a fashion-themed Bgwe! Why so ironic? How about because it's 5 Pm and I'm currently wearing Target slippers, Target lounge pants and a ratty sweathshirt. Did I mention these are my good clothes?
Not fair! I actually shower every single day! Mostly...
Why the sudden interest in fashion? Well, there was Fashion Week having taken place last week in New York and the Oscars in L.A. on Sunday, but I was really inspired by last week's episode of Ugly Betty which ended with Betty finally "getting" that fashion isn't just about expensive clothes but is actually "art" and about taking what's on the inside emotionally, spiritually, etc. and putting it on the outside.
I guess she's feeling wing-y on the inside?
I found that an interesting way to look at fashion and thusly...

Spoiler alert! When you see the first episode of the new season of Project Runway, you may know who the winner is. This is the word out of New York's Fashion Week today, where the three finalists of season six strutted their wares on the catwalk. "I think we'll know pretty early on who [the likely winner] is," season five's champ, Leann Marshall, told us at the show. Based on our totally unscientific poll of the other P.R. alums in attendance (including Suede, Jack Mackenroth and Kevin Christiana) today's third designer is the clear winner, and his or her designs should be immediately recognizable to viewers when the sixth season premieres. (You can sneak a peek at the designs...

A designer who was forced to quit U.S. reality TV hit Project Runway to attend to his Hiv-positive health problems has received a huge career boost - actress Heather Tom has asked him to create the gown she'll wear to the Daytime Emmy Awards.
Jack Mackenroth touched the hearts of Project Runway viewers when he had to tearfully step down as a contestant on the fourth season of the fashion show for medical reasons.
But what he did on the programme was enough to impress the Bold + The Beautiful's Tom, who asked Mackenroth to create a couture gown for her to wear to the 35th Emmys on 20 June.
Tom, who is nominated for a Best Actress prize, will then auction off the dress Mackenroth, who has been Hiv positive for 17 years, has designed for her to Benefit AIDS charities and to promote National Hiv Testing Day.
A spokesman for Tom says, "Heather wanted to do something special to celebrate her 12th nomination and met with Mackenroth to have him design a one-of-a-kind gown for her Emmy moment.
"The pair also decided to help their many friends with Hiv, and auction the dress off to benefit three Hiv/AIDS charities - amfAR, National Association of People with AIDS, and San Antonio AIDS Foundation."
Tom says, "We both wanted to make this more than just an evening gown - we wanted to make a statement."
People will be able to go to the ClothesOffOurBack.org website to bid for Mackenroth's gown immediately after the Emmys.

Fans will be disappointed to know that Jack Mackenroth, who previously dropped out of the fourth season of Project Runway due to a skin infection, won’t be returning to the reality competition anytime soon. His career after Project Runway definitely took off with his appearance on Law & Order Svu and minor role on the upcoming Sex and the City film, aside from other endeavors. More recently, however, reports circulated, speaking of him returning to Project Runway. He already went through the whole audition process in New York, but eventually realized that he wasn’t up for yet another emotional and stressful competition.
"To re-audition, I couldn't have brought the same [clothes]. I would've had to make new pieces, which is a huge investment in time and money," Mackenroth told the New York Post. "In the end, I decided I just couldn't give up another year of my life."
