Just how twisted is the new “Sausage Party” sequel series? Even star Kristen Wiig is shocked by it.
The upcoming “Sausage Party: Foodtopia” series is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2024, with original voice actors Wiig, Seth Rogen, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, and Edward Norton all returning for more tasty fun. The cast is rounded out by franchise newcomers Will Forte, Sam Richardson, Natasha Rothwell, and Yassir Lester.
Creator Rogen recently revealed to Empire magazine that “Foodtopia” is even crazier than the 2016 adult animated film. “We had Kristen Wiig in picking up a few lines the other day, and I think we’ve all become desentised to it, because we’ll just be like, ‘Roll the scene!’, and then she was like, ‘Oh my God?! This is insane!,'” Rogen recalled.

Seth Rogen is teasing the Sausage Party sequel series and talking about an “unbelievably shocking” scene that even caught co-star Kristen Wiig off guard.
“There’s one specific scene that had a special screening for the Amazon PR people,” Rogen told Empire magazine about Sausage Party: Foodtopia. “‘You should all just start wrapping your heads around this now. You’ll probably have to talk about this a lot.'”
He continued, “We had Kristen Wiig in picking up a few lines the other day, and I think we’ve all become desensitized to it because we’ll just be like, ‘Roll the scene!’, and then she was like, ‘Oh my God?! This is insane!'”

Hold on to your buns, because "Sausage Party" is back! Prime Video has announced an order for a new animated series called "Sausage Party: Foodtopia," based on the feature of the same name featuring anthropomorphic foodstuffs in a grocery store with foul mouths, big dreams, and sex drives rivaling a teenager discovering internet tube sites for the first time. We called the film "raunchy, raw, and one of the most outrageous, funniest movies of the year," in our review back in 2016, and we definitely weren't alone. Not only was "Sausage Party" the first 3D computer-animated film to be rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America, but it became the highest-grossing R-rated animated film until it was surpassed by "Demon Slayer: Mugen Train" in 2020. The film was so extreme, it had to be heavily edited to avoid an Nc-17 rating, which only added to the film's mystique.

Released in 2016, the original “Sausage Party” film was set in a world where all food products are alive, to the obliviousness of humans. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s work on 2016’s hit “Sausage Party” resulted in one of Hollywood’s highest-grossing adult-targeted animated films. Now, the duo is teaming up to adapt the “Bubble” podcast into an age-appropriate animated movie with Sony Pictures Animation.
Variety reported that Sony Pictures Animation is developing the project, based on the 2018 podcast, with Point Grey and Matt Tolmach (“Jumanji: The Next Level”) producing.
Kyle Hunter, Ariel Shaffir, James Weaver, and David Manpearl are attached as executive producers, while podcast production company Maximum Fun and Jordan Morris, who created the “Bubble” podcast, are attached as co-executive producers. Morris will also write the script, according to Variety. Hunter, Shaffir, Tolmach, and Point Grey previously worked together on Hulu’s “Future Man” comedy series.
Sources close to production confirmed Variety’s report with IndieWire.

Sausage Party producers and Point Grey principals Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have reteamed with Sony and producer Matt Tolmach (who worked with them on Hulu’s Future Man series) to develop an adult animated film based on the 2018 podcast, Bubble, which was created by Jordan Morris.
Morris will adapt the screenplay. The 10-episode scripted comedy series hails from Maximum Fun. It centered around an unlikely group of monster killers, brought together by an Uber-like app called Huntr, that struggle to make ends meet and find love in a nightmarish version of the gig economy.

Future Man has traditionally followed gamer and pop culture nerd Josh on his romps through time accompanied by his soldier companions from the future, Tiger and Wolf, and season 3 is no exception. But if the latest trailer is any indication, this time it won’t be about preventing an apocalyptic future filled with Biotics as in season one or about attempts to scrape out a life in a future ruled by a megalomaniac as in season two. The name of the game in Future Man season 3 is survival and escape as all of time threatens to unravel.

If you haven’t been watching Future Man on Hulu, you’re missing out on a very cool series that I think a lot of you would enjoy. The video game-themed sci-fi series was created by Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir and is being produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
The story for the series centers around Josh Futturman (Josh Hutcherson), a janitor by day/gamer by night who is recruited by mysterious visitors to travel through time in order to prevent the extinction of humanity.
Well, unfortunately the series will be coming to an end after Season 3. While the story started off strong with Season 1, the second season was even better! So, I imagine that the series will close out on a high note as it plays out its final eight episodes.

This marks the second time in as many days that a Rogen-Goldberg show has set its final season. On Monday, it was announced that the AMC series “Preacher,” which Rogen and Goldberg developed for television along with Sam Catlin, would end after its upcoming fourth season.
The final season will consist of just eight episodes, while the first two were both 13. Hulu’s Future Man will be coming to an end after a third and final season, which will consist of eight episodes. A premiere date is to be determined.
The high-concept comedy, from the Sausage Party quartet of Kyle Hunter, Ariel Shaffir, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and Sony Pictures TV, stars Josh Hutcherson as Josh Futturman, a janitor by day/gamer by night who is recruited by mysterious visitors to travel through time in order to prevent the extinction of humanity.
Hutcherson and co-stars Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson will return to reprise their roles in the final season.
After a hot start backed by a significant marketing push, Future Man had a harder time standing out in a very crowded premium content universe with its second season. But the comedy has continued to do great creatively, with Season 2 earning 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, up from 82% for Season 1, earning a...

Is it us, or does Netflix seem to be making a concerted bid to straight-up own November? It's launching a pair of expensive-looking period-set miniseries, a long-anticipated Marvel spin-off, a sophomore run for one of the best TV cult comedies of the past 10 years and their big-league awards contender film of the year. (Consider this a warning shot for 2018, during which Netflix will spend a projected $8 billion on new original content.) Meanwhile, Hulu's getting in the Marvel business as well as sending Josh Hutcherson back in time, while Amazon unveils...

Barring any potential spinoff movies further down the pipeline, Lionsgate’s lucrative Hunger Games saga wrapped up late last year forcing the citizens of Panem – Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence included – to venture out beyond the Ya tentpole to advance their acting careers.
Buoyed by scene-stealing turns in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, the latter got off to an award-winning flyer, which looks set to continue with the release of Passengers later this year. Elsewhere on Sony’s slate – specifically, its TV slate – we now have word that Josh Hutcherson’s Future Man has landed a series order at Hulu.

Chicago – First things first. Don’t let the fact this is animated fool you, “Sausage Party” is most definitely, absolutely Not For Children. This is a hard R-rated Seth Rogen raunch fest that may induce nightmares into more sensitive viewers and contains images of animated debauchery that can not be unseen. But it is inventively profane, with more on its mind than just animated f-bombs.

So… we’ve seen what our playthings do while we’re away in the Toy Story trilogy. And just a few weeks ago we saw what our animal companions do when we’re off to work and school in The Secret Life Of Pets. Well, what’s left? Ya’ ever wonder what happens at the grocery store once the lights are out and the doors are locked? No, seems that Seth Rogen and his pals have been curious about everything on the shelves and in the bins. And, no big surprise, their imaginations have come up with something more than a touch adult. With their help, animation will burst through the confines of “all ages” entertainment, which has happened several times in the last five decades. Feature adult animation’s first big hit was the 1972 Ralph Bakshi adaptation of R Crumb’s underground comic Fritz The Cat. A sequel quickly...

Last night, at 9:30, on a Monday, South By Southwest attendees were treated to a gratuitous showing of food porn that no one was ready for (and no, I’m not talking about my Instagram page). As a special treat, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg showed a very raw, Very unfinished Sausage Party cut to hungry audiences, who ate it up.
The last thirty minutes alone will leave animated lovers feeling dirty, shocked and ashamed (in a good way?), as stoner humor mixes with existential insanity in ways that lampoon race and broach religious understanding. How do you make a movie about food wanting to fuck have a weighty, Pixar-heavy undertone (Dixar filmmaking, as the film jokes)? Just ask Rogen and Goldberg (and their co-writers, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir).

As somewhat of a man child, I have a soft spot for animation, especially when it’s at least a bit on the irreverent side. I also happen to really enjoy the humor of Seth Rogen, so when I knew he was developing something called Sausage Party, my interest was already piqued. Well, fast forward from its initial announcement a few years ago to last night I finally got a chance to see it, ahead of its release at the end of the week. Wow. Not only is it perhaps the dirtiest animated film that I’ve ever seen, it just might be one of the funniest as well. It’s unlike anything else out there, that’s for sure. The movie is a look at what our food does in the supermarket and how they actually learn the truth about their existence. Initially believing that humans are gods and when selected,...

Seth Rogen gorges on racial stereotypes in his anthropomorphised toon-food comedy, but it packages up a flavoursome atheist message, too
Talk about fresh. Seth Rogen’s naughty food cartoon Sausage Party is, like much of his best work, deceptive packaging. The script he and his usual collaborator Evan Goldberg have written (in conjunction with Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir) seems, at first, to trade solely on anthropomorphised food using profanity on supermarket shelves. This is mildly amusing at first but, like a bun out of its Cellophane, threatens to go stale. That’s when a jar of honey mustard gets returned.

Sausage Party is obviously the product of diseased minds, and I love it. One of the things I think works best about this profoundly R-rated comedy is that it represents a very real attempt to expand the definition of what an animated studio film can be, and any time that happens, I’m interested. There have been plenty of attempts that have failed over the years, but this one is fairly sly about it. A cursory glance at the film might leave you thinking it’s just another in the endless parade of kid’s films about the inner lives of toys or pets or bugs or cars. I suspect there will be numerous parents who make the mistake of taking their kids to the film because they don’t pay attention, and I look forward to hearing the furious accounts of what happens when they realize that the hot...

After Charlie Kaufman’s R-rated, stop-motion drama “Anomalisa” failed to make a box office dent last year despite critical kudos, we’ll see if Seth Rogen’s raunchy, CG-animated “Sausage Party” (opening August 12) has a better chance of commercial success.
“One of the biggest reasons I wanted to do this was for the industry itself, just to be able to knock down the door and prove that R-rated animation has an audience,” admitted director Conrad Vernon, who first met Rogen as a voice actor on DreamWorks’ “Monsters vs. Aliens. “It just depends on how you tell the story and we think animation’s not just for families and kids and that it’s a medium and not a genre.”
Vernon has been aching to do an R-rated animated comedy ever since he saw Ralph Bakshi’s “Heavy Metal” in the ’80s. He wound up working on Bakshi’s “Cool World...

Awards-watchers have been wondering where Mike Mills’ dramedy “20th Century Women,” starring perennial Oscar nominee Annette Bening (“American Beauty,” “The Kids Are All Right”), would land in the fall line-up.
Well, rising indie distributor A24, which is having a strong 2016, has picked up U.S. rights to the film from Annapurna’s Megan Ellison (“Her,” “Joy,” “Everybody Wants Some!!,” “Zero Dark Thirty”). A24 started out winning Oscars for three films (“Room,” “Ex Machina” and “Amy”), took smart horror flick “The Witch” wide to great success, and now with “The Lobster ” and “Swiss Army Man,” boasts the two highest per theater average limited openings of the year.
