Jon Stewart has been watching the television coverage of the Donald Trump hush money trial, but that doesn’t mean he has to like it.
“It has been another big week of wall-to-wall, nonstop penis-to-penis coverage of Donald Trump’s trial,” Stewart said at the start of his Comedy Central The Daily Show monologue Thursday (he switched from his usual Monday night spot this week). “The ubiquitous coverage is numbing, fading into televised wallpaper with insight that only occasionally crackles through.”
Some examples of that insight? Cue the tapes:
CNN reports that Donald Trump greeted Stormy Daniels in that hotel room wearing “satin or silk pajamas.”
Said Stewart: “Which?! I need to know!”
Another report, stating Stormy and Donald had sex “in the missionary position.”
Said Stewart: “No wonder Trump has locked up the Evangelical voting bloc….Tell us more.”
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell: “Not wearing a condom…”
Stewart: “Don’t tell us more!

Matt Schlapp, the American Conservative Union (Acu) and Conservative Political Action Conference (Cpac) chairman, agreed to pay campaign staffer Carlton Huffman $480,000 to settle a sexual assault lawsuit.
Schlapp and his organization are long-time backers of former President Donald Trump.
In late 2022, Huffman, a staffer working for Herschel Walker‘s Senate campaign, anonymously accused Schlapp of making “sustained and unwanted and unsolicited” sexual contact with him.
The video was recorded on the night of the incident itself.
Walker’s campaign staffer stated that the incident happened on the night of October 19, 2022, when he “groped” his crotch in his car after buying him drinks.
Schlapp’s lawyer, Charlie Spies, said that the accusations were an “attack” and that Schlapp denied committing “any improper behavior.”
The Walker’s campaign confirmed that Huffman had shared the details of the incident with his supervisors.

The GOP strategist who accused Matt Schlapp of sexual assault last year reportedly received a hefty financial settlement to drop his lawsuit against the Cpac chairman — a day after Schlapp and his allies widely boasted on social media that the case had been dismissed.
On Wednesday, the Daily Beast reported that sources with knowledge of the payout said that the money for the settlement came from the Schlapp’s right wing organization American Conservative Union’s insurance policy. CNN published a story stating that the suit was dropped after Schlapp...

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed after a 948-foot-long container ship collided with it early Tuesday. Stunning video of the incident has circulated online, and search-and-rescue procedures are currently underway. “This is an unthinkable tragedy,” Baltimore’s Democratic mayor, Brandon Scott, said at a press conference. “We have to first and foremost pray for all of those who are impacted, those families, pray for our first responders and thank them.”

The Conservative Political Action Conference has become much more of a Maga event in recent years, with Donald Trump himself scheduled on Saturday to address the event of conservative activists, media figures and supporters.
But the event has been covered on the right and the left, save for perhaps this year.
Matt Schlapp, the chair of the conference, said that he was not going to credential those in the left.
“Cpac has a new rule. If you are a propagandist, you can buy a ticket like everyone else, but you are not in the media, and we are not going to credential you by saying you are in the media,” Schlapp said on Steve Bannon’s podcast.
He singled out MSNBC, saying it was “100% anti Trump, anti-America, anti-conservative, every moment of every day. They never have any kind of honest treatment of anything.”
“Let’s get real. Let’s not credential them anymore,...

Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union and Cpac, reportedly hired a Catholic priest to perform an exorcism at Cpac’s offices last year.
According to Daily Beast senior political report Roger Sollenberger, Schlapp’s idea was sparked by the resignation of staffers who were dissatisfied with their pay. In turn, the hired priest “sprinkled holy water around the Cpac premises and blessed all the staff, regardless of their faith.”
He also “placed a medallion above doors in the offices” in an effort to “ward off evil spirits. The medallions are reportedly still present in Cpac’s offices.
Following the report on the exorcism, Schlapp and his wife, Mercedes Schlapp, accused the outlet of colluding with the devil.
“The Daily Beast is Satan’s publication to persecute Christians and their families,” wrote Mercedes Schlapp on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Americans are dying of fentanyl, children are being sex trafficked,...

A foul presence was haunting the Cpac office — and it wasn’t the organization’s chairman, Matt Schlapp. Schlapp believed Satan himself had to be driven from the premises, according to a new report from The Daily Beast.
Per the Beast, Schlapp called in a Catholic priest to conduct an exorcism of Cpac’s Alexandria office after complaints about staff treatment and inadequate pay led to a mass resignation of staffers in 2022.
The priest reportedly doused the place — and any employees he encountered — with holy water, and placed medallions depicting Saint Benedict,...

National Harbor, MD. — To attend the Conservative Political Action Conference is to find oneself on the front lines of the war against woke.
During her speech on Friday, 2024 hopeful Nikki Haley deemed “wokeness” a “virus more dangerous than any pandemic.” Sen. Ana Navarro has no love for her husband’s successor as the chair of the Conservative Political Action Committee (Cpac). According to the hosts of “The View,” Matt Schlapp and his wife became “barnacles” on “Donald Trump’s ass” pretty quickly, and the event has suffered because of it.
Navarro’s comments came on Friday as she and her co-hosts were discussing this year’s Cpac lineup, noting that the twice-impeached former president is the biggest Republican name on the attendees list. Other major figures like Florida governor Ron DeSantis and former vice president Mike Pence won’t be there, with DeSantis specifically going to a different GOP event the same weekend.

Updated with video. Bill Maher welcomed Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp, fresh off presiding over the annual Cpac confab, “into the lion’s den” of Real Time.
Over the first few minutes of the segment, he peppered Schlapp with questions about how he has stayed loyal to Trump despite repeated tests of his faith, a number of which Maher ran by Schlapp. There was Trump’s failure to secure money for a border wall; unsuccessful diplomatic talks with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un; and decision to give his kids and son-in-law Jared Kushner security clearances over the objections of the CIA and FBI.
On the border wall, Schlapp countered, “Call it what you will — a fence, a barrier, a wall. It’s being built.” On Trump’s siding with Kim, who claimed he knew nothing about the treatment of Otto Warmbier, an Ohioan who died after being beaten while...

AP’s Jonathan Lemire and Reuters’ Jeff Mason, the reporters who had asked Trump if he believed his own intel officers or Putin about Russian election meddling, and asked Putin if he had kompromat on Trump, raced around the morning landscape taking questions from dumbfounded on-air talent. Ditto former CIA director Brennan who had described Trump’s performance as treasonous.
Even Trump’s fave morning show, Fox News’ Fox & Friends criticized him this morning, though in the gentlest possible way [Video below].
Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright stopped by MSNBC’s Morning Joe to discuss Trump as Putin’s “useful idiot,” warning Republicans of the peril of normalizing Trump’s Helsinki presser behavior. Borrowing a Mussolini gag, she described Trump’s Russia strategy to date:...

Republican MSNBC political analyst Michael Steele confronted the head of the American Conservative Union over controversial comments made at Cpac yesterday suggesting Steele had previously been chosen the Republican National Committee chairman because “he was a black guy.” “I've taken crap you have no idea about,” Steele said to Acu chairman Matt Schlapp on Steele’s SiriusXM radio show today. Joe Kennedy III delivered the Democrats’ response to President Donald Trump‘s first State of the Union address on Tuesday night, but some viewers of the impassioned speech were distracted by the Massachusetts representative’s shiny lips.
Social media users were intrigued to see the 37-year-old grandson of slain former Attorney General and U.S. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy with wet, glistening lips — with many declaring that drool appeared to be coming out of the corner of his mouth.
One Twitter user dubbed him “Droolin’ Joe Kennedy,” while others compared the viral moment to Marco Rubio’s infamous water bottle...

CNN’s Chris Cuomo had a lengthy tangle with Ana Navarro and Matt Schlapp on New Day Tuesday morning, with the conversation veering wildly off-course from the credibility of the president to the science behind abortion. Expect a very controversial Real Time With Bill Maher tonight. Mid show guest Chelsea Handler will be on display as will Ana Navarro. Navarro is a frequent guest on Maher’s roundtable. She’s a Nicaraguan-born American Republican strategist and commentator who many think is Gop but she is not. Navarro is vocal in her criticism of the current Potus and often goes head-to-head with other Republicans on networks like CNN, ABC News, Telemundo, and chat show The View. She only rarely appears on conservative news site Fox, and her CNN argument about Trump with Real Time top-of-the-show interview guest Matt Schlapp went

On an electric Real Time with Bill Maher last night, Maher hosted a boisterous and controversial group with conservative Matt Schlapp, left of center reporter Chris Hayes, writer Max Brooks, conspiracy reporter Louise Mensch and academic Timothy Snyder. In two particularly heated moments, one during the main show and one during the online Overtime segment, Maher literally shut down Mensch and Hayes on the topic of Islam. During the main panel discussion, Maher brought up Wednesday’s London terror attack in which a 52-year-old British-born islamist terrorist – who had been previously investigated by British Intel – killed four people outside of London’s...read more...

Tonight’s Real Time with Bill Maher has a great lineup and a real balance of conservative and intellectual guests — including Louise Mensch, Matt Schlapp and Chris Hayes. The episode will cover the pressing stories of the week, and will most likely discuss at length the recent terror attack at the British Parliament in London. Maher has booked some 800-lb gorillas of thought on the show. Up first is Matt Schlapp, a conservative political advocate and chairman of the American Conservative Union, who will face Maher as the top-of-the-show interview. Yale historian and author Timothy Snyder is the mid-show interview. He says that...read more...

Far-right editor Milo Yiannopoulos has frequently come under fire for his controversial, far-right views, but this time his resurfaced comments appearing to condone pedophilia have cost him a book deal, a speaking engagement and now, even his job at Breibart News.
Yiannopoulos resigned from Breitbart on Tuesday amid widespread backlash over his pedophilia comments. “Breitbart News has stood by me when others caved,” he said in a statement, adding, “I would be wrong to allow my poor choice of words to detract from my colleagues’ important reporting, so today I am resigning from Breitbart, effective immediately.”

“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski has deemed the decision to disinvite Milo Yiannopoulos from the upcoming Cpac conference as a “somewhat of a no-brainer” following the Breitbart editor’s recent comments about pedophilia. American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp explained that Cpac doesn’t mind having controversy on stage, but Yiannopoulos took it too far. “Over the weekend I was made aware of these comments and it just broke through very important boundaries and we felt like the Cpac stage was not an appropriate place for this any longer,” Schlapp said in a statement on Monday.
