The indie thriller “You Can’t Stay Here,” starring “Law & Order: Organized Crime” and “Scandal” alum Guillermo Díaz, wrapped production this month in New York.
“You Can’t Stay Here” is loosely inspired by real events in New York City in the 1990’s, and follows a photographer (Díaz), who witnesses the brutal murder of a gay man in Central Park. When the cops take little interest in the crime, a relationship develops between the photographer and the killer.
“I have been a fan of Guillermo since his first film and when he approached me about wanting to work on something together, I jumped at the chance and came up with the story for ‘You Can’t Stay Here,’ ” said director Todd Verow, who produces through his Bangor Films. “It is a film about queer cruising and finding love and real human connections in the most unlikely places. The city’s energy and his relationship with a younger man he meets there (Nissim) bring him back to life.

Earlier this month the wonderful James Kleinmann sat down with stars Sterling K. Brown, Jason Sudeikis, Rachel Bloom and Producer John Cohen to talk about their new movie, Angry Birds 2. That a sequel has been rushed into cinemas should come as no surprise, as the first movie took advantage of the many millions of people familiar with the mobile app series, and made almost $300million more than its budget. Now, in this new film we have old friends and new going about their business – and the film has something special in that its official synopsis offers us almost nothing at all. To wit: The flightless birds and scheming green pigs take their beef to the next level.
The iOS and Android mobile game caused a sensation with millions of birds flung and pigs crushed. This is the second movie based on Rovio’s multimedia franchise and features the voices of Jason Sudeikis,...

Encouraged by clips from the Oscar-nominated hit film, such as the Live Aid recreation ‘ay-oh’ sequence and with karaoke style backing tracks and lyrics, passengers channeled their inner Freddie Mercury. A highlight of the New York tour was seeing the iconic concert venue Madison Square Garden, where Queen first performed in 1977. You can see videos and more photos of James’ sing-along bus ride on the @HeyUGuysOfficial instagram page.
Following a sold out New York “tour”, the Rock Like Queen bus moves on to Austin on 30th January, Las Vegas on 5th February and finally to Los Angeles on 12th February, when the movie is released on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD in the UK and USA.

Lucas Till on the set of ‘MacGyver’.
Do you get a lot of older people telling you that they used to watch the original MacGyver?
Lucas Till: “You know it’s funny you say that. I’m not good at checking social media and seeing negative comments. Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood Director Matt Tyrnauer is back with a new feature-length documentary which takes us behind the velvet rope of the world’s most famous nightclub, New York’s Studio 54. Although the club was open in its original incarnation for only 33 months, looking back it encapsulates so much of what defined that late Seventies disco era before the arrival of HIV/AIDS. Largely thanks to the images of its celebrity patrons and anecdotes about the club’s strict door policy, it has remained an indelible icon of popular culture for four decades.
Ahead of Studio 54’s New York opening today, Friday 5th October at the IFC Center before a nationwide Us expansion, James Kleinmann spoke with Matt Tyrnauer about setting out to reveal the untold tale of the club’s history.

James Crump’s new film Antonio Lopez 1970: Sex Fashion & Disco is a fascinating portrait of fashion illustrator Lopez, his partner Juan Ramos, and their creative milieu in late 1960s and early ‘70s New York and Paris. Lopez is credited with discovering many of the women whom he surrounded himself with as muses and friends such as Grace Jones, Pat Cleveland, Jessica Lange, Jerry Hall and Warhol Superstars Donna Jordan and Jane Forth, regarded as unconventional beauties by the style arbiters of the time.
The film explores the blurred lines between Lopez’s personal and creative lives, his process of working and his relationships with prominent fashion and art figures such as Andy Warhol and Karl Lagerfeld. After spending the last fifteen years making big budget Hollywood movies like Red, Flight Plan, Insurgent and Allegiant, filmmaker Robert Schwentke returns to his native Germany for his new film The Captain.
Based on a fascinating and disturbing true story, the film follows German soldier Willi Herold (played by Max Hubacher) in the final weeks of World War II as he’s being chased and shot at, presumably having deserted the army. He comes across an abandoned Nazi captain’s uniform and soon makes use of the authority he commands while wearing it. Eventually finding himself visiting a prison camp for army deserters and claiming to be following orders from the Führer himself, Herold uses the power his uniform wields to horrifying effect. Herold went on to become known as the Executioner of Emsland.
Ahead of the film’s Us release on Friday 27th July, James Kleinmann spoke to Robert Schwentke.

During the interviews (conducted by the awesome James Kleinmann) they discuss the warning signs as well as the lighter side of the movie recalling the funniest moments on set (get ready if you’re not a fan of rats)! Dave Bautista talks about transitioning from wrestling to acting and how the community weren’t as welcoming as he’d hoped while Foster talks about why it’s been five years since she last appeared in front of the camera.

Adrift is the latest real life survival movie to break into cinemas. Director Baltasar Kormákur has cast Shailene Woodley as Tami Ashcraft and Sam Claflin, stars of the Divergent and Hunger Games series respectively, to bring this tale of heroism and self-sufficiency to the big screen.
James Kleinmann conducts the interview and asks the director about the shining qualities of Shailene Woodley (who carries almost all of the film on her shoulders) and how she had to strip down to the bare essentials to convey the hopelessness and strength of the character.
He also talks using CGI to build on the layers of the scenes he shot, and how essential it was to film as much reality as possible. The director talks about wanting to convey the scale of the film, from the intimate to the epic. He goes into his work with acclaimed cinematographer Robert Richardson to create ‘sweeping cinema’ rather than a documentary.

In this interview with James Kleinmann Tag director Jeff Tomsic talks about working with Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm & Ed Helms in this irreverent new comedy. He talks about how the Renner singing scene came about, how he was reluctant to work on the movie when he first got the script and how the film mirrors his own life with his friends who visited the set.
He also talks about how hard it was turning a relatively boring premise into an exciting film, the proof of which you can judge for yourself when Tag is released in UK cinemas on the 29th of June.
Here’s the interview,
Synopsis
A small group of former classmates organize an elaborate, annual game of tag that requires some to travel all over the country.

James Kleinmann: You’ve studied and worked a lot in America, how would you describe your relationship with the Us?
Susanna White: “I find myself coming back a lot. I’ve done so much American television. Obviously I shot this film in New Mexico. My next film is an American film too, it’s just turned out that way. I love the States.

Recently James Kleinmann sat down with the stars of the new movie Life of the Party, the latest comedy starring Ghostbusters’ own Melissa McCarthy in which a recently divorced, middle-aged mother returns to college to complete her degree.
Alongside Melissa McCarthy are Community’s Gillian Jacobs, Debby Ryan, Maya Rudolph, Adria Arjona, Julie Bowen, Stephen Root, Christina Aguilera as herself, Sarah Baker, Molly Gordon, Chris Parnell, Jacki Weaver, Jessie Ennis and Luke Benward.
Plot: When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime dedicated housewife Deanna turns regret into re-set by going back to college – landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who’s not entirely sold on the idea. Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna — now Dee Rock — embraces freedom, fun, and frat boys on her own terms, finding her true self in a senior year no one ever expected.
