New Zealand actor Antony Starr was born in 1975 and got into acting after his other preferred career path as a police officer didn’t pan out. His acting work started in commercials and minor roles in TV shows like Street Legal before landing a major gig that could help pay his bills. Fox has picked up Canadian legal drama “Diggstown” from Entertainment One.
Created by Floyd Kane, and starring Vinessa Antoine, the series from Canadian public broadcaster CBC follows Marcie Diggs (Antoine), a star corporate lawyer who reconsiders her priorities and moves to work in a legal-aid office after her aunt commits suicide following the pressures of a malicious prosecution. Among a new group of ragtag lawyers, Marcie is driven by one thing: to never again allow innocent lives to be destroyed by the justice system.
Fox has swooped for seasons 1 and 2 of the drama. The acquisition marks the latest Canadian pick-up by a U.S. broadcaster — a trend that has grown in popularity in the last year as the Covid-19 crisis has stunted production Stateside but has had less of an impact north of the border.

American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan won the 2016 Nobel Prize in literature on Thursday, a stunning announcement that for the first time bestowed the prestigious award on a musician.
The Swedish Academy cited Dylan for "having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."
Reporters and others gathered for the announcement at the academy's headquarters in Stockholm's Old Town reacted with a loud cheer as his name was read out.

Dylan, who turned 75 in May, had been mentioned in the Nobel speculation for years, but few experts expected the academy to extend the prestigious award to a genre such as popular music.
The academy's permanent secretary, Sara Danius, said that while Dylan performs his poetry in the form of songs, that's no different from the ancient Greeks, whose works were often performed to music.

Universal has announced Hit & Run for Blu-Ray in January. The film stars Dax Shepard, Kristen Bell, Bradley Cooper, Tom Arnold and Jason Bateman.
Dax Shepard certainly has his own brand of cool and his own idea of what comedy is. His latest directorial effort Hit & Run (co-directed with David Palmer) tries to play freely and wildly, but doesn’t quite pan out. It’s mostly harmless and sort of entertaining because of Tom Arnold’s freak-outs and Bradley Cooper‘s weird hair, but not once does the film’s core characters, played by Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell, give you anything to root for.
It’s messy, with some redeeming qualities. It was shot on the super cheap end though, so don’t expect much crying from Shepard and the bunch.

Harry’s Law is a fantastic example how you can kill a procedural by changing its status quo.
Procedural fans generally resist changes to the status quo. Sherlock Holmes lives at 221B Baker Street in London, Columbo drives a crappy 1959 Peugot convertible, Quincy lives on a boat. Messing with these sacred cows draws nothing but howls of outrage.
There are two exceptions.

Morning darjeelings! How many of you played that geography game in Friday's P. Love? How many of you were terrible at it? I was so terrible. This may or may not help you in future games. It's a map of What Countries Are Named For. Warning, I know for a fact Romania is in the wrong place. Give a heads up in the comments if anything else looks out of wack to you. (Reddit)
Speaking of out of wack, I don't know what is up with ol' Wolverine's body, but it always looks to me like he has extra, dare I say, muntant-y muscles. Like, double triceps or treble lats. You be the judge. All I know is that I prefer him clothed, preferably in a tuxedo whilst belting out showtunes. What?! (Celebitchy)
Okay, but after seeing this vintage photo of Rod Stewart in his bathing suit, I'll never complain about Jackman again.

Yesterday it was the royal hunks, today's "The Hobbit" dwarf pictorial (via Stuff.co.nz) features three more dwarves who represent a quite different background - the rougher and life loving working class trio of Bombur (Stephen Hunter), Bofur (James Nesbitt) and Bifur (William Kircher). Here's the description of their characters:
"Born and bred in the West, descendants of coal miners and iron workers, they have joined the Quest for the Lonely Mountain partly to seek their fortune and partly because they were told the beer was free."
Hunter is a familiar face on Australian and New Zealand television with a role in several episodes of the acclaimed "Love My Way" along with guest starring roles on "All Saints," "Spirited," "Mercy Peak" and "Street Legal".
Irish actor Nesbitt is an outright legend of British television with memorable leading role turns in "Jekyll," "Cold Feet," "Ballykissangel," "Playing the Field," "Murphy's Law,...

Fresh off his January 7 appearance on CSI: NY, beloved Jag alum David James Elliott has already booked a return visit, TVLine has learned.
Earlier this month, Dje guested on CBS’s hit Friday-night procedural as Russ Josephson, the FBI agent ex-husband of Sela Ward’s Detective Jo Danville. The first time around, the former marrieds compared notes on a cross-jurisdictional case, and we definitely saw sparks hinting at lingering feelings ‘tween the two.
For his encore, which is slated to air in April, Russ returns to support Jo through a difficult family situation — as well as aid Mac with an ongoing murder investigation.

In new that pleases me greatly (what? I’m a fan of this Canadian iteration of the series), Universal Studios Home Entertainment have announced the Us release of Airwolf – Season 4, the much-maligned final season of the TV show that was shot on video in Canada after the original stars left the series.
Airwolf – Season 4 stars Barry Van Dyke (Diagnosis: Murder) as the long-missing brother of Jan Michael Vincent’s character, Michele Scarabelli (TV’s Alien Nation), Geraint Wyn Davies (24, Forever Knight), Anthony Sherwood (Street Legal) and in a recurring role William B. Davis (The X-Files).
Airwolf – Season 4 is released on Region 1 DVD on February 1st 2011.

A dazzling debut by UK dramatist, Polly Stenham that recently took London’s
West End by storm, That Face is an explosive portrayal of an affluent family in freefall written in 2007 when Ms. Stenham was 19 years old.
The youngest playwright to ever be produced by The Royal Court Theatre, Ms. Stenham
leads the pack of new contemporary voices in British drama today. This world premiere stars Sonja Smits as Martha, best known for her multi-award-winning characters on “The Eleventh Hour”, “Traders” and “Street Legal”.
Nightwood Artistic Director and That Face director Kelly Thornton remarks, “I am thrilled to be tackling this complex and muscular drama. Stenham’s voice is raw and uncensored and for such a young writer her acute dissection of emotional neglect is arresting.”
Ms. Stenham delves into family dysfunction like a seasoned analyst with decades of experience. Her searing portrait of an upper class family exposes an...
