Director Nicolas Winding Refn’s newly announced crime series has been kept extremely under wraps — until recently. Refn has been sharing behind-the-scenes photos and videos on his personal Twitter account since before production officially started. He’s announced the high-profile talent making up most of the cast, hyping fans and critics for another wild crime drama to take the small screen. As the genre heightens in popularity for TV audiences, the “Drive” director’s pairing with Amazon derives eager speculation as to what this grisly new drama will look like.
The series has been greenlit with a 10-episode straight-to-series order residing at Amazon. “Too Old To Die Young” takes place in the criminal underbelly of Los Angeles, exploring various characters’ “existential journeys from being killers to becoming samurais in the city of angels.” With shooting having just begun, start getting acquainted with the details surrounding this star-studded series.

But before they take the stage one last time during next week's two-night finale, Et's breaking down all the best choreography moments from last night's show -- including what we think each pair needs to do to improve!
Watch: 'DWTS' Semifinals: Lindsay Arnold Overcomes Injury to Deliver Epic Performances with Jordan Fisher
Drew Scott & Emma Slater - Tango, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by The Proclaimers
Dance highlight: We have to admit, this routine was definitely entertaining thanks to the stage production and Emma and Drew fully dressing the part. Our favorite moments occurred at 0:28, 0:54 and 1:18.

'Die Nibelungen: Siegfried': Paul Richter as the dragon-slaying hero of medieval Germanic mythology. 'Die Nibelungen': Enthralling silent classic despite complex plot and countless characters Based on the medieval epic poem Nibelungenlied, itself inspired by the early medieval Germanic saga about the Burgundian royal family, Fritz Lang's two-part Die Nibelungen is one of those movies I can enjoy many times without ever really understanding who's who and what's what. After all, the semi-historical, fantasy/adventure epic is packed with intrigue, treachery, deceit, hatred, murder, and sex. And that's just the basic plotline. As seen in Kino's definitive two-disc edition, artistically and cinematically speaking Die Nibelungen contains some of the greatest visual compositions I've ever seen. Filmed mostly in long shots that frame the imaginative sets and high ceilings, each static shot is meticulously composed with such symmetry and balance that, even though Die Nibelungen takes the viewer through a mythical fantasia,...

We're still curious to see how Nicolas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon turns out (see the first look photos here), but there's already early details trickling out about his next film. Our friend Steve from Collider was recently talking with Nicolas Winding Refn during an interview for The Neon Demon and asked him about projects coming up. Refn revealed that he's looking at making a spy movie called The Avenging Silence next, and that it might be set in Tokyo, which we've heard before. It turns out this may be the same film he talked about in 2013, a sort-of sequel to 2009's Valhalla Rising taking that character to Tokyo. Refn would only reveal minor details in the interview, but he did say it might a spy movie and that it might involve Mads Mikkelsen's character "One Eye" first seen in Valhalla Rising. "I had this idea of Mads...

After Bronson, Valhalla Rising, Drive, and Only God Forgives, Nicolas Winding Refn is one of the most exciting directors working today. Refn burst onto the film scene in the late 1990s with the delightfully nasty Pusher trilogy, and has continued to produce some of the most thought-provoking and visually spectacular genre-benders of any modern auteur. From Tom Hardy’s career-defining titular Bronson to Mads Mikkelsen’s feral One Eye to Ryan Gosling’s icy cold Driver, Refn has time and again crafted nuanced portraits of deeply conflicted but undeniably charismatic antiheroes.
In My Life Directed By Nicolas Winding Refn, Refn’s own deep conflict is swinging in the breeze as we witness him wrestle with the particularly challenging production of Only God Forgives. Directed and shot by his wife Liv Corfixen over the duration of the production and subsequent Cannes debut, My Life Directed By Nicolas Winding Refn captures the...

After those video clips were released, you know how Season 2 of "Vikings" would begin. It's a battle between Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and Rollo (Clive Standen), each with their armies, that starts the episode.
Blood is spilled and lives are lost. One of those lives, sadly, is One Eye. He was viciously speared by Rollo, who didn't seem to show any remorse until after the fact. That's when Ragnar steps up to challenge his brother.
Though he had no trouble joining up with Jarl Borg, Rollo threw down his weapon in the face of Ragnar. He couldn't attack his own brother. King Horik and Borg were able to reach a compromise, with a plan to raid the west together, building a better life for both sides. Rollo was taken into custody.
Once back home, the townspeople expected Rollo to be killed for his betrayal, but he was spared. Ragnar wasn't so lucky,...

It's tough to tell what Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen is best known for in the film community. If you're a Bond enthusiast or mainstream movie junkie, he's Le Chiffre, the card player with a bleeding tell in "Casino Royale." If you're an art house devotee, he’s probably known by either One Eye or Tonny, depending on your preference between early Nicolas Winding Refn works, "Valhalla Rising" and "Pusher." More recently, he's made a name for himself on television as the new face of Hannibal Lecter on NBC's grisly crime drama, "Hannibal," and this Friday everyone in Los Angeles or New York can see his Cannes-winning performance in the powerful drama, "The Hunt." In his latest film, Mikkelssen plays Lucas, a kind-hearted kindergarten teacher hoping to reunite with his son despite a difficult ex-wife. That is before an unforeseen turn of events flips his world upside down, forcing him to...

Nicolas Winding Refn Prepping a Valhalla Rising Sequel; All-Female Horror Project Still in the Works
Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn is one of the most interesting filmmakers working today so when we heard about a sequel to his Valhalla Rising with our new favorite Hannibal back in the lead, as well as an all-female horror project, we brought back the scoop on both for you.
While doing press for the North American premiere of Only God Forgives, Refn told The Playlist he's planning to re-team with Valhalla Rising star Mads Mikkelsen (who's currently burning up the airwaves with his incredible performance as Dr. Lecter on NBC's "Hannibal"), saying they had “talked about revisiting the [One Eye] character from Valhalla Rising again to kind of complete… because there’s a similarity between Valhalla Rising, Drive, and Only God Forgives. But in a way I had this idea of Mads Mikklesen to go back to the origins of this character. But make the movie in Tokyo.”

Before Nicolas Winding Refn directed films such as Drive and Only God Forgives he made a few other great films that include Bronson and a Viking film called Valhalla Rising. The movie got mixed reviews, but I thought it was a great film, and the fact that Refn is thinking about making a sequel is surprising and extremely cool!
The first film was set on 1000 Ad and centered on a one-eyed mute imprisoned warrior played by Mads Mikkelsen. He ends up breaking out of prison, and with the help of a young slave boy they board a Viking ship and end up in an unknown land.

Nicolas Winding Refn has revealed that he is working on a Valhalla Rising sequel.
The film will be set in a future Tokyo, the director told The Playlist.
The original 2009 movie starred Mads Mikkelsen as One Eye, a mute warrior from 1000 Ad.
Refn said that he had spoken to Mikkelsen about returning to the role, though declined to explain the jump in eras.
"Tokyo is a world unto itself," he said.
Refn recently reteamed with Drive actor Ryan Gosling for Only God Forgives.
The film, which received a mixed reception at its Cannes premiere, recently won the Sydney Film Prize.
The director has also been linked to an adaptation of Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius's classic graphic novel The Incal.

Ryan Gosling and Vithaya Pansringarm in Only God ForgivesPhoto: Radius-twc Over at The Playlist they have been posting more and more pictures from Nicolas Winding Refn's Only God Forgives than I could keep up with. So I figured I'd let them get it out of their system and bring the pictures to you when it looked like they may finally be done. While I have to assume a few more will be coming down the line I think it's safe to say 34 pictures, two posters and the details they scored regarding Cliff Martinez's score is enough to go with for now so let's have a look. First off, looking through the production notes they keyed in on Refn's director's statement, the first sentence of which should have those anticipating this film even more excited for what it may have in store: The original concept for the film was...

One of my most anticipated films this year is Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn's action thriller Only God Forgives, which is sure to be an insanely good movie with a stylized look, and crazy ultraviolence.
Gosling plays Julian in the film, who "lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristen Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly."

From Dziga Vertov’s Camera-Eye to Buñuel’s sliced-up eyeball, along through Samuel Beckett’s cyclopic Buster Keaton, the lone eye returning its regard from the screen is an ocular sign of reflexivity, of cinema looking not only at us but at itself as well.
The two-eyed regard is the human gaze occurring inside of cinematic artifice, of one character looking at an object. One eye less and the regard becomes the camera’s gaze, reaching from within the film out into the viewer’s space. Whereas binocular vision asserts its perception of the world as truth, the monocular vision is the world elevated into photographic artifice. Close one eye, reduce perception by a dimension; open it again, and reveal the artifice of binocular vision too.
In Les Amants du Pont Neuf (English title: The Lovers on the Bridge), when Denis Lavant’s monomaniacal tramp Alex falls incorrigibly in love...
