In the same year, Keeravani, using the same identity, composed the music for celebrated filmmaker I.V. Sasi’s hit movie ‘Neelagiri’, also starring Mammooty. In the meantime, he continued with Telugu and Tamil films, venturing onto Kannada, where he did not change his name, as he did yet again, this time to M.M. Kreem, when he scored the music for ‘Criminal’, Mahesh Bhatt’s 1995 Telugu-Hindi bilingual thriller based on ‘The Fugitive’ and starring Nagarjuna, Ramya Krishna and Manisha Koirala.

Back in the days when technology was not as advanced as today, Veeru Devgan choreographed some of the most interesting action sequences for Bollywood, making his actors' and stuntmen's safety top priority.
The Hindi film fraternity remembered all this and more about the veteran, who died here on Monday at the age of 85.
Remembering Veeru as a responsible director, actress Madhuri Dixit Nene told Ians: "He was such a caring action director who used to encourage us, but at the same time was very cautious about our safety. The trailer of “Shivaay” opens to Ajay Devgn’s trademark piercing gaze, lingering there for a moment before lurching into three minutes of continuous movement as he hurtles, untethered, through Himalayan avalanches and between cartwheeling vehicles. His distinctive baritone cuts through the visuals as he narrates “shlokas” (verses) from Vedic Hindu scriptures describing the transformative capabilities of the deity Shiva, the destroyer of evil and the inspiration for the film’s lead character.
Despite some of these reference points, “’Shivaay’ is not a religious or mythological movie,” Devgn told press during a recent trip to New York, the first of four cities in a U.S-wide promotional tour for the October 28 release, which marks his second as a director. “However, it is firmly based in the idea of faith, and the main character draws heavily from Lord Shiva, both in terms of his spirituality and his superpowers.”

Jeet Gannguli best known for his melodious songs shocked all when he recently made Mahesh Bhatt cry. But it was not because of any problems or issues that he may have caused, instead it was the music director’s soulful title track of Mohit Suri’s upcoming Hamaari Adhuri Kahaani starring Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi that had the noted filmmaker in tears. Says a source, “The first time we had seen Bhatt saab cry after listening to a song was in Zakhm’s ‘Galli mein Aaj Chaand Nikla’. And recently when Jeet made him hear the new song for Mohit’s film which is inspired by Bhatt Saab’s life, he had tears in his eyes while he listened to Jeet sing and strum the guitar. He was deeply moved and knowing how keen his music sense is, we are sure the song will be something to look out for.

Giving out duds at Box-office is not harmful but what is really demeaning is being part of unworthy, embarrassing movies. Though we are not making any perception about the caliber and potential of an actor like Ajay Devgn, there are few flicks which the superstar would also want disown like us or he might always regret of. Outspoken writer/producer and director Mahesh Bhatt has always been brave and bold. With an enviable record of successful films and a clear formula for delivering hits, Bhatt has often been accused of promoting sex in his movies. However his rescent defence is clear and precise: “(Sex) is what sells,” the director declares, “Why blame me when it is what people want to see (and) they buy tickets to watch my films.”
Earlier Bhatt accused the industry and audiences over hypocrisy when it came to his films (Jism, Murder), in comparison to Yash Raj films (Neal ‘n’ Nikki, Salaam Namaste), which were equal in their sex related content. Bhatt has however equally been celebrated for his presentation of serious films and topics, with classics such as Arth (1982), Saaransh (1984), Naam (1986) and Zakhm (1998), however with the recent release and dismal box office performance of Akshaye Khanna’s corruption-themed Gali Gali Chor Hai,...
