Talk about a power couple!
Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez were once again out and about in New York City, but this time it was for a good cause. The former Mlb player and triple-threat star attended a dinner to help benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and addressed the audience -- which included Jennifer Hudson and Whoopi Goldberg.
Rodriguez looked dapper in a black suit and gray tie, while Lopez wore a cream-colored, curve-hugging dress complete with a plunging neckline and cut-outs on the shoulders. Upon speaking to those at the event, the 42-year-old athlete announced that he and Lopez, along with those at their table, had agreed to collectively donate $1 million to the cause.

Barry Manilow has sold more than 80 million records worldwide since “Mandy” hit the charts 40 years ago, making him one of the biggest selling-artists ever, and even though he hasn’t had a Top Forty hit in over thirty years, his music will live on forever, thanks to the love and support of his “Fanilows.” Barry’s discography includes 25 Top Forty Hits (including 11 top ten and 3 #1′s) and 13 of those songs hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, making him one of the greatest AC artists of all time.
His time with Bette Midler (as her piano player) at the Continental Baths in New York City in the early 70′s is legendary, but did you know he wrote or performed some of the most iconic commercial jingles?

According to a ‘Glee’ insider, Lea Michele felt threatened by Charice, which is one of the big reasons the pint-sized belter’s stint on the show was cut short! Can you believe it?
This news does not make me happy in the slightest! I’m was confused as to why Charice Pempengco‘s character, Sunshine Corazon, was quickly and quietly written off Glee with little to no fanfare — and now we might know why…
“Charice was signed for a minimum of five episodes and did a press junket with [fellow new star] Chord Overstreet. She had a big debut, but things changed and they didn’t put her back in. The word is, Lea is the big star, and producers want to keep her happy,” an insider told Page Six.

22 schemes from Fishguard to Derby to Bournemouth are given lottery cash bringing the total to 59
The BFI has announced it is to give out more than £370,000 in lottery money to 22 projects across the UK for audience development.
The money is from the not exactly snappily-titled Transition Fund for Audience Development, set up because of the still messy and confused national and regional funding situation. All that stems from the abolition of the UK Film Council.
In the BFI's words, the fund is to: "Support audience development projects facing budget cuts in funding as a result of the changes in the national and regional film funding landscape which have taken place before a new film strategy and funding priorities come into effect from April 2012."
Peter Buckingham, head of distribution and exhibition at the BFI, said this:

How do You feel about Charice Pempengco’s new music video for “Far As the Sky”?
Our girl Charice has released the music video for her song “Far as the Sky” — and it’s simple, classy and very open to interpretation! In the video, which was released July 6 through Warner Music Japan, the 19-year-old singer looks adorable in a fedora hat as she goes from singing the ballad in a small room, to various major cities around the world. What we love about “Far as the Sky” — which is going to be used as the theme song for a Japanese TV show called Bull Doctor — is how it feels like Charice is dedicating the song to her loyal fans. I’ll share my love to help you through the deepest night Far as the sky my love will blow away your pain no...

Fox Home Entertainment announced today that Rio will come out on Blu-Ray and DVD on August 2. Both the Blu-Ray and DVD will include tons of special features.
Captured as a young bird from the wild, Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) is a domesticated Spix Macaw living thousands of miles away from his homeland, Brazil. When his human owner Linda (Leslie Mann) discovers that he is the last male of his kind, they head south to Rio de Janeiro to meet the only other female.
But it’s far from love at first sight between the socially-awkward, flight-challenged Blu and the fiercely independent, high-flying female, Jewel (Anne Hathaway). Shortly after Blu’s arrival, the two rare birds are captured by greedy animal smugglers and find themselves lost in the Brazilian rainforest.
Rio will be available on 3-Disc Party Edition, featuring the Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Copy; as well as in a 2-Disc DVD Party Edition.

Busy Philipps and Ryan Phillippe were among the famous parents who brought their little ones along to Kidstock yesterday at La's Greystone Mansion. The event was held to benefit the One Voice Scholars program, and there was plenty to keep the celebrity babies busy. Ryan's son, Deacon, made his own soda thanks to SodaStream, while Busy and her daughter, Birdie, got to work at the arts and crafts table. Jason Bateman also brought along 4-year-old Francesca, while Modern Family's Julie Bowen and Soleil Moon Frye also brought their kids. Ryan wrapped up the weekend with Deacon while his mom, Reese Witherspoon, was off at the MTV Movie Awards. Reese took home the ceremony's Generation Award with an empowering speech that was aimed squarely at aspiring actresses who feel the need to share sex tapes or naked photos. She kept the celebrations coming afterward as well, joining pals Chelsea Handler...

Our favorite singer has been getting rave reviews from her castmates!
There is no doubt Charice has phenomenal voice, but she also has the respect of her peers on Glee!

Harry Shum, Jr. is impressed with how much talent there is in such a little performer. ”That girl, she is so quiet when she comes in and she is so shy,” he says. “We don’t know how she is and then she gets on that stage and literally blows us away! "Christine Conradt reveals the art of being a screenwriter"
by Michael Aaron Gallagher of StayFamous.Net
If you’ve ever found yourself lost in the on-screen magic of motion pictures, captivated by a dramatic action sequence, laughing out loud in a theater, or simply falling in love with a romantic line spoken by your favorite movie star, chances are you had to remind yourself that it’s all a fairytale, a world in which the actors merely play a part that has been written for them.
But where do those words come from and who imagines them?
Christine Conradt, screenwriter for the new film “Accused at Seventeen,” starring former Golden Globe nominee Cynthia Gibb, Nicole Gale Anderson (of the Disney Channel original series “Jonas”), and Reiley McClendon (“The Flyboys”), recently explained that the process of writing a screenplay for a film or television series is often a collaborative effort. I am lucky enough to have Director of One Voice Lisette Maire Flanary (Lehua Films) a writing mentor, so before writing this entry I met up with Lisette at Ihop in downtown La (my suggestion) to ask "Would it offend you if I described your documentary as Spellbound meets Native Hawaiian soul?". For several decades now, the Haitian band Boukman Eksperyans has been a force to be reckoned with—a high-energy, eleven-piece ensemble that mixes vodou rhythms with elements of rock, reggae, and African roots music. (The band’s name is a reference to both a vodou priest of the Haitian Revolution and guitar-idol Jimi Hendrix—“eksperyans” is Creole for “experience.”) Since 1990 at least, when their Carnival hit song “Ke’m Pa Sote” became a protest anthem against the post-Duvalier military regime, the band has also been a powerful voice for change in Haiti. The band’s founder and leader, Theodore “Lolo” Beabrun, is a musical soul-rebel in the tradition of Bob Marley and Fela; and in the aftermath of January’s devastating earthquake, his mission has become all the more urgent. This Friday, the band will perform in Kingston, New York, in a special “One Voice for Haiti” concert benefitting The Haitian People Support Project,...

Believe it or not, Barry Manilow did not write the songs the whole world sings. He didn't even write that one. 'I Write the Songs' was composed by Bruce Johnston, which Barry readily admits whenever the subject comes up -- it's even in his Las Vegas concert show. However, Barry Manilow does have a huge catalog of songs that he has made famous, whether as a writer or singer. Therefore, why wouldn't he want Fox's 'Glee' to use his music for an episode? If it's good enough for Madonna, why not Barry?
Well, Barry thinks it's a great idea and did something about it. Ryan Seacrest reports that Manilow called him the other day to address rumors that he'll be on 'Glee' -- rumors that were news to me. Barry told Ryan that he hasn't received a phone call from 'Glee' yet, but he's willing. "It would be great.

"She was like this mysterious, foreboding, ominous woman. And she was hidden almost all day long, and just when you were unmotivated, and feeling like crap and uninspired and thinking, 'What am I doing here?' the clouds would part and she would peek out, and the beauty would strike you, and then you'd be inspired again," Biel told MTV News on the red carpet for the premiere of "Summit." "And she was literally, like, this woman who would pull this veil over her face and disappear, and then she'd show a little bit of herself,...
