Samantha Grant denied trying to cash-in on sister Meghan Markle's fairytale romance with her upcoming book. The sibling addressed the allegation while appearing on the British TV show The Wright Stuff on Channel 5. "I think the term 'cash-in' is a low blow," Grant told host Matthew Wright. "I think any of us who have experiences and feelings, positive, warm, insightful or otherwise and we are able to share them apparently—I wouldn't say that we're cashing in because there's certainly a large audience and market of people who are interested and curious. So why not share information that is socially and historically valuable? I feel like it's kind of a service to...

It feels like only yesterday that Gemma Collins was crying mascara stained tears while complaining of contracting malaria - but this year's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here is now just a mere month away.
Last year's series saw Carl Fogarty crowned King of the Jungle. But which stars will be enduring the Australian kangaroo anus-eating adventures on the ITV show this year? Here's the rumoured line-up so far:
Stephanie Davis
Who? Former Hollyoaks actress who was recently axed due to being "unfit to work because of alcohol consumption".
The rumour: The 22-year-old is reportedly "hot property" as a number of reality shows try to sign her up, according to The Mirror's unnamed insider. The star - who played Sinead O'Conner for five years in the Channel 4 soap - is no stranger to TV competitions, previously taking part in Over the Rainbow - a BBC One talent...

A caller on The Wright Stuff got quite the reaction when he brought up #piggate this morning (September 21).
Matthew Wright was hosting a phone-in when a caller named Dan decided to mention the extraordinary allegation that David Cameron put a "private part" in a dead pig's mouth when he was a student at Oxford University.

During a discussion about Jeremy Corbyn on the show, Dan was asked by Wright whether he thought Labour members would potentially leave the party to join the Liberal Democrats.
Dan answered: "Well I think you've also got this issue of the Prime Minister putting his cock in a dead pig's mouth."
However, Wright immediately got irate with the caller.

Holly birthday, Happyoaks! Sorry, let's try that again. Happy birthday, Hollyoaks! That's better.
It's often written off as the runt of the soap litter, but we're rather affectionate towards Hollyoaks. Surprisingly, it's not only survived but is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary this autumn. It now boasts 50 regulars and a faster pace than any other soap, but can you believe that Hollyoaks once focused on the adventures of only seven main characters?
Launching on Channel 4 in October 1995 with just one episode per week, Hollyoaks gradually earned a place in viewers' hearts as it followed the tangled lives and torrid loves of Kurt, Jambo, Louise, Maddie, Natasha, Dawn and Tony. So where are Chester's magnificent seven now?

Remember the first ever Love Island with its seemingly clueless single celebrities constantly bickering on a tumultuous and stormy (literally and metaphorically) Fijian island?
Even the show's co-hosts Kelly Brook and Patrick Kielty were baying for one another's blood when Kielty decided to declare during one live show that Brook had previously dated contestant Paul Danan.
Other memorable highlights included Abi Titmuss becoming more and more enraged as Fran Cosgrave repeatedly referred to her as Vanessa Feltz, swiftly followed by a tipsy and uncouth Rebecca Loos letting rip.
The series aired almost exactly a decade ago, so we found ourselves wondering - whatever happened to eventual winner Jayne Middlemiss? And the Love Island love god that was Lee Sharpe?
As the new non-celebrity series currently enjoys its ITV2 revival, we find out what the 12 star contestants have gone on to do since their 2005 stint below:

The Wright Stuff has been cleared by Ofcom after offensive language was broadcast.
The Channel 5 show, presented by Matthew Wright, came under fire following a caller's foul-mouthed outburst aired on August 19 this year.
The caller, who was identified as 'Jason', was put through to speak to Wright live on air. The pair were discussing how Jason had become close to his wife's best friend.
At one point, Jason explained: "And then I f**ked her in the p***y". Wright initially did not hear the comment, and so asked Jason to repeat the phrase, which he did.
Jason's call was terminated, and Wright said: "I've had this wonderful run of good luck with callers, going on for years, and you've just spoilt if for me. What an idiot, what a moron, go off to ITV with your friends."
In response to Ofcom's concerns, Channel 5 stated that The Wright Stuff follows...

Vincent Simone and Matthew Wright have been voted out of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
The pair become the third and fourth celebrities to leave the jungle this year, following the exits of Annabel Giles and Laila Morse.
Asked by Ant and Dec how it felt to be voted out, Simone said: "It feels good. I had my time, my experience and I'm happy. I was going to be happy either way. It's weird now that I've left them. "
Wright added: "It's great to go out with him (Simone). There's certain people in the camp you get very special to and this is one of them."
Meanwhile, the former Strictly star said that the experience was "better" than he had expected.
"I have to say when I joined the first day I had a little panic attack, but now after the last few days I can say I really loved it.

I'm a Celebrity stars Kian Egan and Alfonso Ribeiro have described Matthew Wright as "passive-aggressive" following a tense exchange over camp chores.

Matthew complained: "Lucy and Rebecca are the sort of mother hens clucking around during the day and Amy, she spends an awful lot of time lying on her back doing nothing.
"Lucy went down for some wood and called for Amy. Amy didn't respond because Amy was very, very busy topping up her tan, yet again."
Lucy added: "I'm going to hold my tongue.

Steamy jungle showers, Vincent Simone's indecently skimpy shorts and Matthew Wright in a small bikini - I'm a Celebrity has already thrown up a host of sexy and downright silly moments so far, and we're barely a week into the series.

1. Matthew Wright's itsy bitsy, teeny weeny... white bikini
Matthew Wright did a Myleene Klass and worked a teeny weeny, white bikini while enjoying a shower in the jungle.
The Wright Stuff host revealed his skimpy two piece to a bewildered Joey Essex, before announcing: "The papers always want to know who's going to do the Myleene white bikini moment and [are] maybe wondering if it's going to be Amy or Lucy. But I can let you into a little secret, Joey, that this year's white bikini moment is coming from a fella.

Joey, Joey, Joey, Joey. The rest might as well have not turned up so far. Series 13 of I'm a Celebrity has been completely dominated by the Only Way Is Essex star and his Essex-isms.
Taking part in a Bushtucker Trial with Matthew Wright on last night's show, Joey was joined in a giant tube by mealworms, millipedes, crabs and cockroaches. For the first time in the show's history, the most intelligent creatures involved in the task were the insects.
"What do millipedes do?" said Joey, the great philosopher. The poor creatures are probably asking the same question about 'a Joey Essex'.
After revealing earlier in the week that he had never mastered the concept of telling the time, today's shocking revelation from Jungle Joey was that he'd never learnt how to blow his nose.

The Wright Stuff presenter and journalist broke down while competing in the 'Turntable of Terror' task yesterday (November 16).
Meanwhile, Essex quizzed his red campmates on if the Bushtucker Trial would involve him eating things.

"Never heard of 'em!" "I'm a Celebrity... it should be done under the Trade Description Act." "I want to be a celebrity, get me in there, more like."
We hear these same jibes every year when the lineup of jungle celebs is announced by ITV. Considering this is a reality show which has a winners' roll including such illustrious names as Joe Pasquale, Christopher Biggins and Phil Tufnell, it's slightly baffling that some people expect something more than D-listers and Never-Heard-Of-Them glamour models.
This is the show that made Joe Swash. The Hollywood Walk of Fame, this is not.
The 2013 lineup doesn't look like breaking with tradition, including a woman most famous for having a tiff with Katie Price, Big Mo off that EastEnders and Joey Essex as this year's obligatory scripted reality airhead.
Battling for the prize of most famous are '80s snooker player Steve Davis and stool-bothering ex-boyband singer Kian Egan,...

Ciaran was joined on the panel by former Strictly star Arlene Phillips and TV presenter Olly Smith.

Count Arthur Strong's transition from radio to TV falls flat, but Jane Campion's first foray into television is intriguing

I used to enjoy, very much, listening to Count Arthur Strong. But that was when it was on the radio, and I was in the bath. Six-thirty of a pm, the purple glower of dusk, risotto glooping away gently on the stove, and life doesn't get much better than that. I fully appreciate that expectations can vary hugely according to, for instance, personal childcare needs, personal mental health, local proliferation of guns, wholly imagined threat of incipient alien attack, etc. But the programme used to make me smile. Now, instead, it's on my television, and that is, I think, a mistake, and not just because of the...

We hit the highway in pursuit of the best film clips involving motorised vehicles leaving the scene
This week's Clip joint is by Cj regular Woof73. Think you can do better? Email your idea for a future Clip joint to adam.boult@guardian.co.uk
Since this is a Clip joint about endings, it's probably safe to say: here there be spoilers.
Someone always leaves at the end of the film. They turn, deliver a devastating line or kiss, and they're on their way. Either that, or everyone else is dead. This is when most films roll the credits – but sometimes, you want more. After all, we invest a lot of time in our heroes. Whether it is single-handedly wiping out a gang of European terrorists or spontaneously bursting into song during a storm, they've been through a lot, and we've been right there with them. Hollyoaks star Dan O'Connor has admitted that his character Ally will lose his "good boy" reputation as his new storyline kicks off. Show bosses first teased that Ally has a dark past some time ago, and fans can expect this to become apparent on screen within the next few weeks. Speaking on Channel 5's The Wright Stuff this morning (June 6), O'Connor suggested that Ally will no longer seem similar to his Neighbours character Ned Parker, who he played between 2005 and 2008. Discussing how Ned and Ally's stories crossed over, the actor commented: "I think initially they did. Ally's quite a strait-laced... well, we assume that he's a strait-laced good boy. But that's all about to change!" O'Connor went on to joke about how Ned and Ally both sparked speculation over their sexuality in their first storylines. (more)...

Big Brother winner Aaron Allard-Morgan has claimed that four previous housemates have attempted suicide. The champion of Channel 5's first regular series last year also criticised the lack of aftercare that was available to housemates after the show finished, and said that he "fears" for this year's crop of hopefuls. "I genuinely fear for them, they don't realise what they're letting themselves in for," he told The Wright Stuff. "They give you very little preparation for what's likely to happen. From my year, with the 15 of us, I know that four of them have tried to commit suicide after the show just because of the ramifications and impact that it has on your life. Just yesterday, we got word from Deadline's Nancy Tartaglione that Sienna Miller and Toby Jones would be playing Tippi Hedren and Alfred Hitchcock in the BBC-hbo co-production, The Girl. Later that same day, the Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit broke the news that, after four years in development, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho "is in the process of being set up at Fox Searchlight. Anthony Hopkins, who is attached to play Hitchcock, and Sacha Gervasi (Anvil! The Story of Anvil), who is directing, are making the move and are being joined by Helen Mirren, who will play the filmmaker's wife, Alma Reville."

To mark the release of his new book, Monsters In The Movies, we sat with John Landis to talk about horror and sci-fi cinema, and much more…
Look back over John Landis’ career as a director, and you’ll find not only some of the most successful comedies of all time, including Animal House, The Blues Brothers and Trading Places, but also some classic horror work, such as An American Werewolf In London, Michael Jackson’s Thriller video, and the underrated Innocent Blood.
Landis is well qualified, then, to compile a loving and lavishly illustrated guide to the creatures of genre cinema. Called Monsters In The Movies, and serves as an exhaustive compendium of aliens, zombies, atomic mutants and vampires.
With Landis in the UK to promote his book’s release, we jumped at the chance to talk to him about movie monsters, film making, and what he’s up to next.

It’s Pink List time again, and it’s been more exciting than ever because The Independent On Sunday, the British newspaper that compiles the list of the country’s 101 most influential Lgbt people, have, for the first time, invited people to send in nominations. These votes will then be considered by the judging panel, which features the likes of Diva magazine editor Jane Czyzselska, Conservative MP Margot James, Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas and Tamsin Omond, founder of the environmental campaign group Climate Rush.
Last year, there were 31 of our kind on the list, which is still quite a few steps from equality, but this was nine more than in 2009. So, by our reckoning, there should be at least 40 women on this year’s list.
Because we love a vote and writing lists, we’ve combined the two and we’ve written a list of the ten women that we would vote for.

The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles is one of those movie theaters that film fans must visit at some point in their life. Maybe it's not the prettiest theater in the world, but the tickets are cheap, the popcorn is cheap, and it regularly has some of the best, if not the best, repertory screenings imaginable, mostly in double features. Now, for their 2011 season, they've decided to kick it off the Wright way. The Edgar Wright way. The New Bev will play host to over two weeks of films programmed by director Edgar Wright. They did it three years ago and now, the director of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (which will screen as one marathon) is back for The Wright Stuff II. Wright has chosen twenty films to play over 18 days beginning January 14 and most of the films are specially themed double features.

Toronto Underground Cinema photo by Jonathan Goldsbie
Anyone who has walked down Spadina Avenue near Queen Street has probably noticed that mysterious Golden Classics sign. I knew that there had once been a movie theatre at 186 Spadina Avenue, I just didn’t know if the space still existed. The 700+ seat cinema, first known as the Golden Harvest and later as the Golden Classics Cinema catered to the neighbourhood and mostly played Chinese films during its run. When Golden Classics closed in 1995 the theatre sat essentially abandoned for nearly fifteen years, until last year, when the space reopened as The Acacia Centre thanks to some new investors. The Acacia has been hosting special events and local film festivals over the past few months, but hasn’t been operating as a full blown movie theatre; which is where some former employees of The Bloor Cinema come in.
