Four more women have spoken out with allegations of sexual assault or harassment against Ain’t It Cool News founder Harry Knowles. After IndieWire posted a story last week in which an Austin-area woman came forward with stories of sexual assault in the early-aughts, other women took to social media to share similar allegations. IndieWire spoke with three of the accusers. Here are their stories.
IndieWire has reached out to Knowles for comment, and will update accordingly.

While other 11-year-olds in Biloxi, Mississippi might have spent their 1980s summer vacations playing endless hours of Space Invaders at the local arcade or tricking dimwits into painting picket fences, Chris Strompolos and Eric Zala, the subjects of the new documentary Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made (opening June 17th), were busy lighting each other on fire.
The two boys first saw Raiders of the Lost Ark in the summer of 1981, and like any right-minded latchkey kids in search of adventure (and father figures), they instantly fell in love.

The Tall Man has haunted horror fans for over 35 years, but now his nightmare-inducing dwarves and deadly bladed spheres are going to thrill and chill like never before in high-definition, as it's been revealed that J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions is working with Don Coscarelli on a 4K restoration of Phantasm.
Word of Phantasm's 4K restoration from the original camera negative comes from Ain't It Cool News' Quint, who reported the exciting news from Butt-Numb-a-Thon 17, Harry Knowles' annual film festival that took place this weekend at Austin's Alamo Drafthouse.
Abrams, Bad Robot, and Coscarelli have been keeping the restoration under wraps, but the silence has now been broken, along with the reveal of two crystal clear stills from the 4K makeover (shown below).

When I think of "Independence Day," I don't feel any particular nostalgia for the film. I didn't care for it when it came out, and I think it's aged horribly. However, I do have a fondness for the moment it represents, as that was the beginning of my time online. You may or may not be aware of my checkered past as a spy with a nom de plume, but if you're unaware, I started my career writing about movies as "Moriarty" over at Ain't It Cool News. In the days before that site was launched, I discovered newsgroups, and the idea that I could spend my time yelling at nerds all over the planet about whether or not Rick Deckard was a replicant seemed earth-shattering to me. One of the arguments I distinctly remember from those early days was between me and someone else who seemed to have access to screenplays.

These days, the movies that never happened are almost as popular as the movies that did. In some cases, maybe more so. Disney's adaptation of John Carter bombed so badly that many likely now wish Paramount's take on the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel had happened -- presuming it wouldn't have been any worse. Just as in the case of Alejandro Jodorowsky's Dune and Tim Burton's Superman Lives and others on the way, the story of Kerry Conran's abandoned version of John Carter for Paramount could probably do well as a crowdfunded documentary. But why wait for that to see a bunch of concept art, test footage and other goodies from Conran's pre-production on John Carter? Ain't It Cool News head honcho Harry Knowles, who was attached to Paramount's...

The first and most important thing that happened as a result of the staging of "Sticks and Stones" at the Met Theater as part of the Act One Festival was that Scott Swan and I got our first agent. Barbara Baruch worked for Ambrosio/Mortimer, a smaller boutique agency at the time, and from the moment we met her, she seemed like what I imagined an agent to be. She was nurturing, she was a cheerleader, she was a ballbuster, and she was always, always, always in our corner. Our time with her was unfortunately too short, and by the time the agency imploded in accusations of embezzlement, we were already repped by Gersh out of New York. Barbara was first, though, and she was the first one to start pushing people to come see our show and to read our work. The strangest thing about those early days is...

Over 30 years ago, a trio of 11-year-olds in Mississippi began making a shot-for-shot remake of their favorite film, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," a project that continued for seven years and resulted in an all-kid cult classic. Chris Strompolos, Eric Zala and Jayson Lamb chose a Spielberg film with impossible-to-replicate special effects and complex set pieces. For years, the boys requested only costumes and film props for birthday presents, and spent summers reenacting dangerous Indie stunts with their friends and family. Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News called the "Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation" a better remake than Gus Van Sant's "Psycho," because it was "made with love." Horror director Eli Roth and actor John Rhys-Davies, who starred in the original "Raiders," also praised the film, and Spielberg himself invited the boys to meet him. But the "Raiders" remake never got finished—one scene was...

Hmm, is the Force strong with this Star Wars speculation? Now that we have the main cast in place for the latest film in the popular sci-fi franchise, the big question has become, what will director J.J. Abrams be calling the upcoming installment? Well, Harry Knowles at Ain't It Cool News apparently has it on good authority that the working title is Star Wars: Episode VII - The Ancient Fear. The title evidently "refers to Max Von Sydow's villain who makes Pazuzu look like a p---y!" (Pazuzu, of course, being the demon that Von Sydow's priest dealt with in The Exorcist.) Time will tell if the so-called working title ends up being the film's permanent one. We'll know for...

Star Wars: Episode VII is going to be a movie that will invite a tidal wave of speculation probably to the day of its release, not least because director Jj Abrams will be weaving his mystery box ways on it. Since it's announcement, rumours were thrown every which way about who would be joining the cast. Now that we know the cast, it is time to move the speculation to something, and the title seems like as good a place as any. Harry Knowles, from Ain't It Cool News, has got the ball rolling, posting a story that several sources claim that the working title is..................................The Ancient Fear. The article went on to state that The Ancient Fear referred to Max Von Sydow's character, who I always got the feeling would be a villain. It could be just because he played Ming the Merciless, but it is something I can't shake off.

Head geek Harry Knowles over at AICN has been sitting on a scoop for a while awaiting confirmation. The scoop is the working title for J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII," which may be "The Ancient Fear."
How solid is the confirmation? Well, as any good reporter, Harry isn't giving up his source, but does tell us he (or she) goes by the name "Col Mustard"
So, what exactly does "The Ancient Fear" refer to? Again, per Col Mustard:
"It refers to Max Von Sydow's villain who makes Pazuzu look like a pussy!"
Wow, that is a bold statement.
Based on this bit of info, who do you speculate Max Von Sydow is playing?
"Star Wars: Episode VII - The Ancient Fear" hits theatres December 18, 2015. Abrams is directing from a script he cowrote with Laurence Kasdan.

The SXSW Film Festival announced the jurors for its Film and Design Competition today, and the list includes quite a variety of filmmakers, actors, and writers. The Narrative Feature Jury will be helmed by Vanity Fair's digital director Michael Hogan, Buzzfeed's Kate Aurthur, and actor Oliver Platt, who will be appearing in the Jon Favreau film "Chef" scheduled to premiere at this year's SXSW. La Weekly's chief film critic Amy Nicholson, Fandango corespondent and Today Show veteran Dave Karger as well as the former Senior Editor at Film.com David Ehrlich make up the Documentary Feature Jury. Other standouts from the 10 other categories include Harry Knowles, the founder of Ain't It Cool News and Austin local; Tim League, the founder and CEO of Alamo Drafthouse; Peter Debruge, the Chief International Film Critic for Variety; and Emily Hagins, a 21-year-old filmmaker whose most recent film, "Grow Up, Tony Phillips", premiered at last year's SXSW festival.

At this point, any unofficially casting announcements concerning "Star Wars: Episode VII" should be considered just that: unofficial. But Ain't It Cool News claims that it already knows one actor who's been signed on to star in the eagerly-anticipated flick.
The site's Harry Knowles reports that he has "heard from two different sources" that Irish actor Jack Reynor "has landed a role in Episode VII." Knowles admits that he doesn't know what part Reynor will play, and cautions that Reynor's potential casting is still a rumor.
Reynor is a relatively unknown actor who had a small part in the Vince Vaughn movie "Delivery Man" last year, and also earned rave reviews for his role in 2012 drama "What Richard Did." But he's set to become a bigger star thanks to a lead role alongside Mark Wahlberg in the fourth "Transformers" flick, "Age of Extinction," due out in June. Could a part...

It's been a while since we have had a good ol' Star Wars: Episode VII casting rumour, so here's one with a decidedly Irish flavour. Irish actor Jack Reynor, who will be next seen in Transformers: Age of Extinction, seems to be trading one mega franchise for another, with rumours he is wanted for an unspecified role in Jj Abrams return to a galaxy far, far away. Reynor first came to the worlds notice with What Richard Did in 2012, so from Lenny Abramson, to Michael Bay and possibly Jj Abrams in two short years? That is not bad at all. Reynor is not the first Irish actor to be linked to the project, with Saorise Ronan revealing last year she attended auditions for a role that she sadly didn't get. This latest rumour comes courtesy of Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News, who has Sylvester Stallone and Guillermo Del Toro...

Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News claims that, not one, but two sources have confirmed to Jack Reynor will be apart of J.J. Abrams Star Wars VII. I'm hearing that Jack Reynor, a young Irish actor that will be in this new Bay Transformers trilogy - but that I've now heard from two different sources has landed a role in Episode VII. No idea of what role. - Harry Knowles Reynor is an American-born/Irish-raised actor, whose stardom is quickly rising. Michael Bay recognized his talent while viewing the 2012 indie-film What Richard Did and cast him in Transformers: Age of Extinction. You also might have seen him in Vince Vaughn's shot-for-shot Starbuck remake, which was titled Delivery Man.

"Pitch Black" was considered a problem by USA Films. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people have forgotten that USA Films even existed, but for a brief period of time, they were a major up-and-comer, an indie with eyes on the mainstream, and they probably reached the pinnacle of their visibility and acclaim when they made "Traffic." They couldn't sustain their momentum, though, and eventually, they had to close their doors. My most noteworthy interaction with them came when I was still at Ain't It Cool News. Harry Knowles was in La one week, and USA Films told us that...

Lex Luthor is Superman's Joker. He represents the opposite of everything Superman is, from motivations (greed vs. altruism) to methods of accomplishing goals (brilliance vs. strength). It's no surprise that every Superman movie released so far has featured Luthor as the main villain. The primary villain in Man of Steel has been shown to be General Zod, so it initially looked like Luthor would sit this one out, but according to Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News, that isn't the case.

Update: Universal Pictures announced late Thursday afternoon that Colin Trevorrow would direct “Jurassic Park 4,” ending months of speculation about who would helm the third sequel to 1993's blockbuster “Jurassic Park.” Trevorrow is a relative Hollywood newcomer, having directed only one other film previously, 2012's “Safety Not Guaranteed,” for which he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature. That film featured a science fiction-esque time travel plot, which bodes well for how Trevorrow might handle the genetically-engineered dinosaurs at the heart of the “Jurassic Park” franchise. Below, you can check out what else we currently know about the upcoming sequel, including the now debunked rumors that Steven Spielberg would direct. Earlier: Ever since Steven Spielberg announced plans for “Jurassic Park 4” at Comic-Con in 2011, the lack of concrete details about the film led some to speculate that the project was extinct. With characters such as Black Widow sidelined in favour of their male counterparts, Rachael wonders, where are our superheroine movies?
It's a good decade to be a fan of the superhero genre. I mean, just take a look at the line up of superhero movies coming out over the next few years. We've got Iron Man 3 this May, Man Of Steel, Captain America 2, Thor 2, Ant Man, Guardians Of The Galaxy, a possible Batman reboot, new rumors of Man Of Steel sequel and a Justice League movie just released, and Avengers 2 in 2015. That's a pretty full plate.
However, something's missing. Of the 11 titles listed above, not a single one of them has even a whisper of a female superhero as the main protagonist. As it stands, there is no indication that any unannounced tenth superhero movie will focus on a superheroine either.

Laugh it up, fuzzball: According to Anthony Breznican at EW.com, the first "Star Wars" spin-off films will center, respectively, on Han Solo and Boba Fett. Per Breznican, the Solo film will be an origin story set between "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" and "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope," the first "Star Wars" film to feature Solo as pilot of the Millennium Falcon.
Boba Fett, the bounty hunter introduced chronologically in "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (but first spied in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back"), would have his own film as well, which would take place between "Empire" and "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi."
Breznican's big story comes one day after Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the existence of "Star Wars" standalone films. "There has been speculation about some standalone films that have been in development,...

Are you sick of "Star Wars" news yet? I hope not, because Entertainment Weekly just confirmed some big stuff. In addition to the J.J. Abrams-directed "Episode VII," EW reports that Disney is planning spin-off films for two of the franchise's most beloved characters, Han Solo and Boba Fett. According to EW, the Han Solo movie would focus on the smuggler's origin story and "would take place in the time period between 'Revenge of the Sith' and the first 'Star Wars.'" As for the Boba Fett film, that "would take place either between 'A New Hope' and 'The Empire Strikes Back,' or between 'Empire' and 'Jedi,' where the bounty hunter was last seen plunging unceremoniously into a sarlacc pit." These timelines would even allow Disney to bring back both Darth Vader and Jabba the Hut. However, EW also notes that the projects are in an early development phase,...

Ever since Disney bought "Star Wars" and announced they would be putting out stand alone spinoffs in addition to continuing the main storyline, folks have been speculating just what those new films will be about. Either we just slipped into a wormhole, taking us back to 1998 or Harry Knowles over at Ain't It Cool News just published a "Star Wars"-related rumor.
According to the blogger, Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm are assembling their slate of upcoming movies set in the "Star Wars" universe, and a big part of the plan is standalone movies that center on pre-established characters, the first of which will be Yoda.
That's right. That CGI abomination from the prequels could be getting his own movie, but you should label this strictly as "rumor" for now. Knowles has not been known for his accuracy when it comes to this kind of scoop, especially in the last few years. But the man is well-known for a reason, so keep it in the back of your mind.
But why Yoda when there are so many other characters in the "Star Wars" universe worth exploring further?...

The crowds have amassed in San Diego for the largest annual gathering of comic and film fans known as Comic-Con. I envy our pals who make the trek where once-in-a-lifetime magic happens, including musical performances from The Guild cast members or the appearance of the filmmakers and the entire cast of Firefly and Serenity -- more precisely, Ut graduate Felicia Day (The Guild, Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog), Joss Whedon, and Nathan Fillion. Reports have already come out of San Diego of Whedon and Day dancing with fans.
Fellow fans can experience Comic-Con 2012 through the coverage from Spill.com and Film School Rejects. I'm loving the weekly videos from Ain't It Cool News Harry Knowles's basement, and this week Harry shares his Comic-Com film panel preview.

Before watching the first trailer for Scott Derrickson's new horror movie Sinister, I was feeling a little bit cynical about it. The title seemed pretty similar to James Wan's Insidious and the poster looked like every other horror movie poster we've seen over past couple of years. The plot synopsis also sounded generic and familiar, and on top of that, I was not a big fan of Scott Derrickson's remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Still, after putting all that aside, I have to admit that this trailer has some genuinely creepy imagery in it. Ethan Hawke plays a true crime writer who moves his family into a house where several murders happened nine months earlier. He finds some old home videos of the family who lived there before and notices a recurring symbol and face in the videos that slowly begin to take over his life.

Joss Whedon has been turned into an action figure. The Avengers director will be one of four collectible figurines packaged along with collector's edition DVDs of Morgan Spurlock's documentary Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope. The other three figurines will be Spurlock himself, former Marvel head Stan Lee and Ain't It Cool News founder Harry Knowles, Entertainment Weekly reports. (more)...

The movie Get the Gringo premiered in Austin at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar last Wednesday night, followed by a special Q&A with producer and star Mel Gibson (seen above on the red carpet), young actor Kevin Hernandez, director Adrian Grunberg and producer Stacy Perskie. What made this Q&A moderated by Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News so special was that it was streamed live to audiences in nine other cities that viewed a simultaneous screening of the film along with Austin. Audience members were able to submit questions directly to Knowles via the internet.
In Get the Gringo, Gibson portrays Driver, a career criminal who is nabbed by corrupt Mexican police and then hidden away in a tough prison where he must learn to survive through his own street smarts along with the help of a 9-year-old boy and a not so reputable U.S. Consulate representative.

The world premiere of "The Avengers" took place last week, but since the film isn't going to open nationwide until May 4, the folks at Marvel kindly asked the attending media to wait until then to post their reviews.
Guess how well that worked.
The first official reviews are in from Hollywood's leading industry sources and it seems that the critics agree: "The Avengers" is totally awesome. Two weeks never seemed longer.
"Director Joss Whedon pulls off a stunning feat in bringing balance to this superhuman circus, engineered to charm the geek core and non-fans alike," The Hollywood Reporter says. "'The Avengers' is humongous, the film Marvel and its legions of fans have been waiting for. It's hard to imagine that anyone with an appetite for the trademark's patented brand of fantasy, effects, mayhem and strangely dressed he-men will be disappointed; not only does this eye-popping 3-D display of visual effects...

Mel Gibson sat down for a panel discussion about his latest film, Get the Gringo, and ran smack into some nerves of steel. Ain't It Cool News' Harry Knowles asked the controversial actor whether he had any trouble getting along with his Jewish director, Adrian Grunberg—a dicey question regardless and especially dicey considering the recorded Gibson rant released just today. So, did he? "Noooo," Gibson said comically, stretching the o sound. (He made the same low, guttural sound when asked if he learned Spanish for the film, too.) "I hate his guts," joked Grunberg, who cowrote the film with Gibson. "No, I've known him six or seven...

"This was Damon Lindelof’s 2nd Draft," wrote Ain't It Cool News proprietor Harry Knowles on Friday, before diving into a script review of "Prometheus." The coming film from director Ridley Scott hits theaters on June 8, but Knowles apparently got his hands on Lindelof's screenplay.
Except for the fact that he probably didn't.
"Hate to break it to you, @headgeek666 [Knowles' Twitter handle], but there's no 'Planet Zeus' in my draft," Lindelof wrote on Twitter. "Or in @jonspaihts' work. I think you've been duped!" Jon Spaihts is another credited writer on "Prometheus," which exists in the same universe as Scott's "Alien," but isn't a direct prequel.
Knowles disagreed with Lindelof's assertion, writing that the script he received -- before the trailers for "Prometheus" debuted -- featured scenes that "match so perfectly" with the marketing materials.
Reached for comment by HuffPost Entertainment senior writer Mike Ryan, Lindelof maintained that Knowles' script was phony.

Remember that whole complicated father-son dynamic from the original "Star Wars" movies? Well, a new children's book prefers Luke and Darth to just eat ice cream instead. Also, here's a picture from the "Riddick" set, but Vin Diesel appears to be missing.

Here's a newly-discovered short film from Jim Henson called Robot, which he shot in 1963 after being commissioned to create something for a Bell System business seminar on Data Communications. [via Slashfilm] To promote their line of Avengers movie tie-in gear, Target has unleashed this funny video featuring a bunch of little kids as The Avengers, proving that superheroes come in all sizes. Finally, Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News fame has launched a new online short for Nerdist called Ain't It Cool. As best described by our own John Gholson, it's a "little bit like Good Eats for geeks or Pee-wee's Playhouse for long-time AICN fans!"

I wanted to give a big Thanks! to Nerdist News for the mention of my comic Supernovas today. Nerdist made a big splash at WonderCon when co-founder Chris Hardwick (formerly of MTV and G4) made the announcement of the new shows that would be premiering this week on their YouTube Channel, including shows by Harry Knowles of Ain't It Cool News and Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex at the L.A. Times. Wednesdays are Comic Book Day at Nerdist and today they launched the debut episode of their Comic Book Club show, featuring guests Judah Friedlander and Joe Kelly. Subscribe to their daily newsletter here. Many thanks to editors/contributors Dan Casey and Luke Y. Thompson.
I recently cut together a trailer for Supernovas. We're starting to get some genuine Hollywood interest in the property, possibly as a television series, so I figured I'd give them something...

While it started as a small get-together for fans of brightly illustrated panels and thoughtful word bubbles, Comic Con has exponentially increased in the last decade, becoming the premiere destination for everything genre -- and in some cases, genre-adjacent.
How the annual convention transformed into the biggest pop culture event of the year is just one of the fascinating journeys Morgan Spurlock's new documentary, Comic-Con: Episode IV – A Fan's Hope, takes audiences on. The feature also follows five fans as they each trek to San Diego in hopes of completing a major life goal. For some it's marriage, for others it's professional -- but no matter their objective, everyone's journey is fueled by passion.
And it quickly became clear during my chat with Morgan that he shares this passion of geek culture -- from horror movies to comic books, he is "one of us." Although with that population also growing exponentially, the real question...

I should say right up front that I'm not convinced that this next story is 100% legit, but since everyone seems to be taking it at face value, it's probably worth addressing so that we can try and get to the bottom of it. Back in January it was being reported that The Expendables 2 would actually be aiming for a PG-13 rating as opposed to the hard "R" that the original film received. The main reason for this was said to be Chuck Norris, who in recent years has refused to star in anything that isn't appropriate for kids. As ridiculous as it sounds, Stallone himself confirmed the rumour, but reassured everyone that the movie would still be a "Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing." Now, this week, a rumour that has popped up on a fan site that suddenly refutes the entire PG-13 thing. It's a nice thought, but...

Apparently Lionsgate held a special press screening of The Hunger Games (3/23) in Los Angeles for select movie bloggers and today lifted the embargo to the point those that were in attendance were allowed to tweet their reactions. I know someone that will be at the premiere tonight so I'll soon be getting an opinion from someone that knows my specific tastes, but for now we have this Tweet round-up: "I have visited The Hunger Games. And they were awesome. I think I loved the movie, as good as the book. Just a few days ago we posted this bit of news, wherein it seemed that Chuck Norris' provision for being in The Expendables 2 was that the film would bear a PG-13 rating when it exploded into theaters on August 17th. Columbia decided five years was long enough and was hoping fans would forget how bad the first Ghost Rider comic book adaptation was, which featured Nicolas Cage as stunt cyclist Johnny Blaze, a man who sells his soul to the devil and is in turn cursed as Beelzebub's bounty hunter. The 2007 feature pulled in almost $116 million domestically and over $228 million worldwide so why not give it a shot? For Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance they brought in Crank duo Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, brought back Cage and added Ciaran Hinds, Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth to the cast and set a February 17, 2012 release date where the fiery skull would wield his chain of flame in 3D. Oh boy! Get ready! The first trailer featured the titular character peeing fire and fans were on board. What could go wrong? Well, apparently actually showing the full film appears to have been a problem.

If by some incredibly off chance you don't know who Harry Knowles is, he's the man who started Ain't It Cool News, a website which has arguably spawned more film geekery than anything else in the age of the Internet (it's the grandfather of the geekier side of film blogging), and he's become a film geek icon in his own right because of it. For the past thirteen years, Harry has celebrated his birthday by holding Butt-Numb-a-Thon, a 24-hour film festival held at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX. Harry is the only person who programs the fest, which is a mixture of new release and vintage films, and selects his secret line-up in such a way as to condense as much pure celebration of film as possible into such a short time period. This year, which was my first time...
