After the BTS ‘leak’ of Deadpool 3, the director Shawn Levy admitted that he would want to minimize green screens and shoot this MCU film in real locations. Does it sound familiar? Because it seems that shooting mega-budget films in real locations is the new trend. Maybe it’s time to minimize the usage of green screens. Then movies will start to look like movies, and not like cartoons.

Osees have announced their latest albbum, a synth-pop-inspired project entitled Intercepted Message, out August 18th via In the Red. They have also shared the album’s title track as a lead single. Listen to it below.
In a “bio” for the new album, Osees frontman John Dwyer explained that it’s a “pop record for tired times.” The single — along with its news-inspired music video — supports this theme, drawing on the fatigued energy of politics and society, and channeling it into a blistering blend of punk and electro beeping and booping. In the video, Dwyer serves as the anchor for a dystopian broadcast, and as the world burns down behind his talking head, the weight of the message sinks in. Watch the video below.
From Dwyer’s perspective, Osees’ new music is intended to create a commonplace of sorts. “Social media toilet scrapers unite!” he wrote for the poetic bio.

The rumours were true. After weeks of not-quite-denials and protestations of ignorance from David Tennant and Catherine Tate, the BBC has officially confirmed their return to Doctor Who: “One of the most loved pairings in Doctor Who’s history have reunited and are filming scenes that are due to air in 2023 to coincide with the show’s 60th anniversary celebrations”.
“The Doctor and Donna parted ways when the Doctor had to wipe Donna’s memory, making her forget him, in order to save her life. He left her family with a warning: if ever she remembers, she will die. But with the two coming face to face once more, the big question is, just what brings the Doctor and Donna back together?
Note the wording above: “scenes”, “coincide with”, “celebrations” plural. Nowhere in the language does the press release explicitly confirm that Tennant and Tate will appear as guest...

After a six-year hiatus, Korean cinema is set to return to the Chinese big screen in wide release at last.
This Friday, Dec. 3, Chinese cinemas will run the 2020 comedy “Oh! My Gran (Oh! Moon-Hee),” official posters said Wednesday. Directed by Jeong Se-Gyo and written by Kim Soo-jin, the title stars Na Moon-hee as Moon-hee, the titular spirited grandma suffering from Alzheimer’s disease who, along with her dog, are the only witnesses of a hit-and-run accident that leaves her grandchild unconscious. The film tells the story of the sleuthing that ensues when she remembers a clue to the culprit.
When Seoul deployed the Thaad U.S. missile defense system in 2016, Beijing expressed its displeasure with a ban on Korean film and culture imports. A Korean film hasn’t had a proper theatrical outing in the mainland since 2015’s “The Assassination,” co-written and directed by Choi Dong-hoon.

The Busan festival has experienced its share of fandom in previous editions, with everything from frenetic crowds at guest visits in Haeundae, an overflowing Biff Square in Nampodong, through to star-struck teenagers camping in the entrance to the Grand Hotel. None of these are particularly appropriate in the age of Covid and social distancing.
With that in mind, the festival has built what it calls an ‘Actors House,’ a slightly more respectful and arms-length series of encounters between on-screen stars and their public. The series consists of six, more in-depth conversations with successful, younger talent.
They will be sharing stories that have never been heard before, including their acting philosophy and their most memorable scenes, organizers say. The sessions are moderated by Una Beck, the head of Una Labo Actorology.
Highest profile participants are actress Uhm Junghwa and actor Cho Jinwoong, who have established their filmographies across the silver screen and television.

NBC bid farewell to its Brooklyn Nine-Nine crew as the Andy Samberg-led comedy aired its final episode Thursday. The series finale rose in its final episode, earning a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.17 million viewers, per Nielsen fast affiliates.
The series finale, titled “The Last Day,” grew from the Season 8 premiere in August. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which also features Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio and more, saw the gang come together for one last heist and an emotional farewell to the titular precinct.
As full the finale was of optimistic goodbyes and callbacks to earlier episodes, Brooklyn Nine-Nine came in second overall to Big Brother on CBS, which ruled Thursday’s primetime in all fields. The latest episode of the reality series was the highest-rated and most-watched title of the evening.

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” turned in its badge Thursday, with an hourlong series finale for the Andy Samberg-led comedy that was up slightly from where its eighth and final season began, but still not impressive in terms of both its key demo rating and total viewers, according to early numbers. The former-Fox-turned-NBC sitcom put up a 0.5 and 2.2 million viewers for its 8 p.m.series finale, titled “The Last Day,” compared to the 0.4 and 1.8 million viewers the Season 8 premiere drew on August 12, which was immediately followed by a second episode that got 0.3 and 1.3 million viewers. The finale episode was also up from the most recently aired “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” Season 8 episodes, which drew a 0.4 and 1.9 million viewers for its 8 p.m. episode on Sept. 2 and a 0.2 and 1.4 million viewers for the 8:30 p.m. installment. “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” did not air last week, replaced by NBC’s Thursday kickoff for the NFL season.

This article contains spoilers for Brooklyn Nine-nine season 8 episodes 9 and 10.
There reaches a point where every sitcom needs to say goodbye. While many fans would be content to watch Brooklyn Nine-Nine play the hits forever — watch Jake uncover a triple cross yet again, cringe when Boyle drops another unintentional innuendo, laugh when Holt robotically delivers the newest slang term — at some point, cast and crew run out of creative steam and must move on. Brooklyn Nine-Nine attempted to stretch itself in Season 8, admirable for a series this far into its run itself, and especially given the context and intentions, but not every comedy is meant for a serious reinvention. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was gloriously silly with just the right amount of pulp and heart, a rare comedy almost fully formed from episode one. It was here for a good time, and despite Fox’s best efforts, stayed for a long time.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about the series finale of NBC’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine,“The Last Day”.
Eight seasons, spread across two networks –Fox and NBC–with a brief cancellation in between; Brooklyn Nine-Nine finally turned off the lights at the precinct with an hour-long series finale that brought back a slew of familiar faces from the series’ past.
However, in its home TV market of NYC, Brooklyn Nine-Nine didn’t quite get a proper sendoff with the final episode airing outside of primetime, at 7 Pm, to make room for the Giants game on the local NBC station.
After Season 8 which took on a more serious tone, tackling issues of police brutality, levity returned in the finale as Jake (Andy Samberg) surprises the squad with a final heist to commemorate Amy’s (Melissa Fumero) last day at the 99th precinct after her big promotion in the previous episode. This time,...

Producer Lynda Obst and Miky Lee (executive producer of “Parasite”) have joined forces to tap into the Korean music wave. They will produce “K-Pop: Lost in America,” a feature-length road movie to be released in 2023.
The Cj Enm production has tapped Jk Youn, director of two of the biggest Korean movies of all time, to helm the project. With disaster action movie “Haeundae” in 2009 and melodrama “Ode to My Father” in 2014, Youn was the first person to direct two films that each scored 10 million admissions, the mark of a mega blockbuster, at the Korean box office.
The narrative in “Lost in America” revolves around a K-pop boy group that mistakenly lands in Texas with only two days left until their global debut in the New York. With no money and little time, they must make their way to New York to perform on their dream stage.

Three icons from around the world, Indian popstar Armaan Malik, multi-faceted Korean American artist Eric Nam and platinum music producer Kshmr have come together for a collaboration of epic proportions in the form of ‘Echo’. While the audio is an eclectic concoction that’s one of a kind and the perfect blend of all three’s artistry, ‘Echo’ lyrically articulates the feeling of indecisiveness in a relationship that pushes partners off the edge. The accompanying music video captures the artists in their natural element powerfully bringing the emotions of the song to life.
Talking about how the track took shape, Armaan Malik said, “‘Echo’ was incepted when I met Kshmr in Los Angeles right before the onset of the global pandemic and the release of my first English single. He played some unreleased material including ‘Echo’, it just stuck, and I recorded my demo verse at his studio itself."

The film centres on a director working on an autobiographical feature about the death of his daughter. Following Adalbert’s Dream (2011) and The Last Day (2016), Romanian director Gabriel Achim is currently in late post-production with his third feature, Snowing Darkness. The exclusively Romanian project is being produced by Anca Puiu through Mandragora and co-produced by Iadasarecasa. The screenplay, written by Achim and Cosmin Manolache, follows Teo (Bogdan Dumitrache), a director who is immersed in rehearsals for his new feature centring on the personal turmoil he has suffered, caused by the death of his daughter. As the main story unfolds, strange and unsettling frame stories arise, which teeter between fiction and real life. The more the performance tries to disguise real life, the more it is disrupted by life’s unpredictable course, prompting a series of ambiguous, unbearable and absurd events. A low-budget production, Snowing Darkness is being made with circa.

The first thing you might notice in Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries Volume 2 trailer is the music. The familiar theme of the original, classic series, has been twisted into a cross between the themes to the film Halloween and The Exorcist. We can still make out the melody, but it is far more haunting in its new mix. The same can be said of the show.
The new iteration Unsolved Mysteries is haunting and serious, avoiding some of the cheesier aspects which endeared viewers to the original, which began airing in 1987. Unsolved Mysteries Volume 1 featured six episodes which began streaming in July. Unsolved Mysteries Volume 2’s second set of sixes premieres on Oct. 19. With only one more 6 to make it a devilish enumeration, it is a perfect way to celebrate Halloween.
“In six new episodes, Unsolved Mysteries profiles more unexplained disappearances, tragic events, and bizarre occurrences,” according to the official logline.

I don’t think it’s unfair to say that one of the hardest things to pull off in genre storytelling is an anthology film that remains consistently entertaining, where the quality of all the stories can all hit the same high notes, just in different ways. We’ve had our fair share of great ones over the years, as well as some that just don’t quite hit their mark, and for me, while I appreciate the ingenuity and passion on display here, The Pandemic Anthology falls somewhere squarely in the middle. There are some shorts that have stuck with me over the last few days, but there were several segments that just did absolutely nothing for me, making this newest anthology fall squarely in the “it’s fine” territory.

There is no doubt that director Jk Youn is a man who has the potential to make massively successful film. Six years ago, he made “Ode to My Father”, a film which after all these years still remains the fourth highest-grossing domestic film at the Korean box-office. His film prior to that was just as successful, with 2009’s “Haeundae” still well within the top 20 in the same list. After a long wait, he is finally back with his newest film “Hero” and it is an interesting project for various reasons.

When discussing the legacy of 2000s pop punk and emo, one would be remiss to forget the high-octane melodrama of New York band Taking Back Sunday. Republic raids an early Rko talkie for a fantastic special effects sequence, and you won’t believe how it’s repurposed — in a story about a TV personality (in 1939!) taking on a corrupt political mob. New York crumbles and is then washed away — sort of. It’s yet another resurfacing of a title that not long ago we couldn’t see to save our cinema-curious souls.

David O. Selznick’s marvelous romantic fantasy ode to Jennifer Jones was almost wholly unappreciated back in 1948. It’s one of those peculiar pictures that either melts one’s heart or doesn’t. Backed by a music score adapted from Debussy, just one breathy “Oh Eben . . . “ will turn average romantics into mush.
