A Great Penultimate Episode
BadgerStorm43452 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was an episode that at first seemed kind of slow, however the last 20 minutes were absolutely insane. With the death of the newly introduced Lamplighter, and Black Noir fighting Starlight with Queen Maeve's intervention, this episode really had some of the best moments of the show. Billy Butcher threatening Vogelbaum was one of his very best scenes. Lamplighter's personal hobbies were also hilarious in the beginning of the episode. Something I've deliberately not mentioned yet was the ending, as that was insane and I am at a loss for words after watching it. I can't wait for the season finale.

The best episode to date, everything is perfection, and it's a great set-up to the finale. Diabolical, mate.

Mind blowing (ik this will be an overused pun)

Warning: Spoilers
This is a great penultimate epsiode that is setting up a great finale, I love what they have done with the Homelander arc this season and the deep has become one of the funniest characters by how big a loser he is.

I think we're in for a kick ass finale to a great season, and that final scene really blew my mind, pun intended.

Sorry for the pun, but that final scene was... really something. A lot happens here, I'm beyond excited for the finale. I think the only complaint I have is that Lamplighter's suicide feels a little abrupt and I think he could've done a lot more given time. A light to decent 9/10

Warning: Spoilers
This episode "blew my mind" So well done. Karl Urban's performance absolutely stole the show. He was diabolical as ever. These show writer's plot twists, have plot twists. It amazing how they lead you one way and you absolutely know what the twist will be, yet they always slip another one in to keep you spinning in circles. My Hat's off to you fellas.

Entertaining

There were so many little surprises and a few shockers in this episode. This show never disappoints on cliff hangers and mystery. I'm a sucker for mystery because It keep me watching. I'm a little sad that this season is about to end and I can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the season finale.

Wow.

4 out of 5 stars.

As things escalate. With Homelander and Stormfront getting the people to support them while building an army of supes. Hughie and pyro guy try to rescue Starlight. Good episode. With a brutal fight scene. And a wtf moment during the court scene.

Excellent episode
sanjuparampil2 October 2020
The story line has been amazing so far. The political agendas, everything looks surreal. I really wish Hughie and Annie will get back together after all that has happened. The final scene was totally unexpected. Kudos to the direction team as everything went well accordingly, even I really liked the scene where they brought up butcher's family issue in the middle of their war with Vought.

BOOM!!!

Warning: Spoilers
Completely Astonishing. Homelander's family, Lamplighter's death, Black Noir's allergy and of course, head explosions left and right with blood and brain bits everywhere. One of the best episodes of the series.

Cherry Bomb
tristan_192 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This whole show is a ticking time bomb, holy hell. This episode managed to combine action, surprises, politics, family, drama, relationships and more so flawlessly. First of all, Noir hitting Annie and her mom was so raw and so well done, and then the Almond Joy twist was pretty nuts (lolz sorry).

Miss January and Ashley are humans after all, Homelander and Stormfront are pulling the strings like always and you feel Rebecca's pain in your own heart when Ryan is taken away from her. On the flip side, we meet Butcher's messed up dad.

Victoria Neuman takes a leap into the main story in this episode and we get some humor with Lamplighter and his little nsfw movies. Sad to see him go though, but at least it provided help for Starlight to escape.

You wanted to see more of Black Noir ? You've been served big time here and I hope Maeve has something planned for her own agenda.

Also, I thought maybe Stormfront forced Cindy into killing Susan Raynor, but I don't think so anymore, because Cindy wouldn't help Vought after escaping the hell they put her through and wouldn't kill all these people at the end of the episode being free and all, so the mystery continues...

What an ending by the way, wow I didn't expect that. Butcher got evil for a moment, in which was a terrific scene, talking the doc into helping The Boys... Kinda felt bad for the guy. And of course, Starlight's song at the end was surprisingly calm after a big blow up. It's the calm before the storm, but at the same time, everything is already in motion for what seems to be an incredible finale.

Finally, a thought for Eagle haha. Poor guy probably didn't do anything wrong and got f'ed over. Hope A-Train and Deep move into doing something for the greater good... Maybe meet Edgar and screw Vought from the inside in some way ? Let's see.

Will make you tremble till the credits roll
JoeVin252 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Most action packed episode in the season, I am really surprised they managed to out do last week's heist style episode. Every turn and twist has you trembling and worrying for your favorite character's and their next moves, the fact that Homelander has gone full StormFront's Muppet mode doesn't help either. But I do have to say that some of the aspects of the story could've been better handled, like Lamp Lighter Offing himself was such an expected turn. But turning Dr.Vougelbaum was such a brilliant move on the part of the writers, it let's you buy into the fact the boys actually stand a chance against the supes. Even if it is for a few seconds and deep down you know it ain't gonna go down just yet, it gets you pumped. Hughie stepping up to save Annie, while it may have messed with their plans it showed that he is still a useful character, I feel like he had been sidelined for most of the season so that was definitely refreshing.

Only complaint I had with this episode is that I wish we gotta better look at Billy's past, could've easily added more character development. But the teases regarding his younger brother Lenny makes me believe there something more to his story than what is being told. Just can't wait next week's episode to drop, don't mind the weekly schedule but they should've dropped both episode 7 and 8 together for a 2 hr long cinematic experience.

It was... okay
Gislef3 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Billy says the c word a lot. And he has father issues, because of course he does. Hughie does something competent. Frenchie and Milk play third-string. Same old, same old. We do get a fair amount of Homelander, Becca, and Ryan. And despite the literally explosive ending, nothing really happens. One step forward, one step back.

The best parts were the guest stars: Shawn Ashmore as Lamplighter completes his arc. And John Noble shows up briefly as Billy's father, in a part pretty diverse from his 'Fringe' and 'Sleepy Hollow' roles. (Was playing himself on 'DC Legends' a "role"?) I would have liked to see more of Lamplighter, so a shame about him burning out.

I'm pretty sick of Starr's Homelander by now. Yes, he's very impressive and threatening. And he has, wait for it... father issues. So I get the parallels between him and Billy both having issues with abusive father figures. But this episode just spelled out what was already implied. Bad, bad episode. Show, don't tell.

The production staff's political commentary is rather two-dimensional. "Ooh, Supe terrorists are coming across the border." Hmm, wonder what they're commenting on? Given that Hollywood is racist--they keep telling us that, typically followed by an apology--it seems like the fox doing satire within the hen house. It might help if they had a President or someone, other than relative newcomer Stormfront, giving a face to all the anti-Supe and anti-immigrant) propaganda. At what point does all the commentary become unimaginative, just because most of the shows--superhero and otherwise--are doing it? Methinks they doth protest too much.

I just wish the production staff would get off their duff and do something. We've had a lot of build up to the second season finale next week. And I'm sure something major would happen. But we've had to do a lot of wading through blood (in this episode, literally) to get there.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. What do you think?

Too many convenient things happening for our heroes
dickboyelmo13 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This one was probably my least favorite episode of the season. Here are the main things that bugged me about the episode:

1. Starlight getting the crap beaten out of by Black Noir and not using her powers to defend herself.

2. Lamplighter's handprint still conveniently being in Vought's system.

3. Starlight breaks out of confinement so easily because some idiots decided to lock her in a room that conveniently has a fire alarm.

4. Maeve appearing in the nick of time to save Starlight and somehow forcing a candy bar down Black Noir's throat.

5. The obvious pandering that I won't even begin to start ranting about.

Some things I did enjoy were the head popping scene in the courtroom and Butcher threatening Vogelbaum. Overall, this episode was a let down and very mediocre in my opinion.

One of the best?
matiasbockerman2 October 2020
This series is creating its own class in terms of shock value: unpredictability is shocking, weird and very twisted and sometimes hilarious . The directing, exhibition, staging costume, effects are like watching a high-budget movie. This series is going to be memorized a thing of the past, this series is talked about as it is today about breaking bad or sopranos; here comes the classic

Some plot holes I totally didn't like.
islamadel-683513 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
1st: Butcher threatening Vogelbaum. This part didn't look convincing at all. Like seriously? why would he let butcher in anyway, and how come butcher being chased is in a position to make threats. The guy could just ask Vought for protection or whatever. I failed to follow the logic here.

2nd: The kid just hating his mother and flying with homelander... just like that. He hated Homelander all this time and suddenly changed sides. This part needed a better plot than that.

3rd: Well, to be honest I'm jumping the gun here, but that end scene looked so bad for Vought. I think the end scene implicates Vought heavily. I'm afraid the series makers wanted to imply that Vought got away just by getting all the witnesses killed. I hope I'm wrong with this, but the look on Butcher looking disappointed at the end made me doubt it.

A strong penultimate episode
Leofwine_draca18 April 2022
A strong penultimate episode. Lots of plotting going on at this point and characters moving their sub-plots forward. Shaun Ashmore is a treat and the ending is unexpectedly great.
