WHAT A SEASON FINALE!
mikecostiera9 October 2020
Absolutely incredible season finale that ties up the first two seasons really well and sets up season 3 in such a shocking, satisfying, interesting and dramatic way. I wish season 3 was out next week lol

Didn't see it going down like this.

Warning: Spoilers
Holy cow! This episode answered a lot of questions, wrapped things up unexpectedly and then left me with even more questions. I can't tell if Homelander is less or more dangerous now. Stormfront suffers quite a grizzly fate but something tells me we aren't quite done with her. We learn who was behind the literally mind blowing events of last week and it was the last person I expected quite frankly. Just... so much happened, it's kind of hard to process, but I do know for certain that it doesn't matter how much uplifting music you put over the credits, this ain't no happy ending... but I suppose I will have to wait til season 3 to have my suspicions brutally confirmed no doubt. I'm gonna give "What I know" a decent 9/10

One of the Good Ones
tristan_199 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm amazed at this finale. Cast and crew managed to create a surprising ending I didn't expect, while keeping it entertaining all the way through. Girls really get it done and Maeve finally stepped up in the end. Stormfront's story was very exciting and thrilling. Maybe she'll come back for season 3 with a Vader suit ? Just kidding, but we'll see.

Butcher's development was extremely satisfying this season. Remember when he didn't give any credit to Hughie after exposing Vought in episode 3 ? Well, he gladly congratulated Starlight and him this time for leaking Stormfront's secret to the press. Also, Karl Urban is great at playing a conflicted character and the way Billy promised he'd get Ryan back to Becca, I knew he wouldn't go through with the deal he made with Edgar.

Becca's death was emotional as punch and I feel so bad for Ryan. This kid was already suffering and conflicted, this drama won't help at all. I hope he's fine. As I understood, it seems like he is the show's version of Edgar's contingency against Homelander, but kinda hope he gets away from all this madness. Also, we still haven't seen Teddy Stilwell grow up. Maybe he has powers too ?

Speaking of Homelander, the actor does such a great job at expressing the character's pain. The viewer kinda relates to him, in a strange way. And the Neuman reveal at the end was something to witness. What is Hughie getting himself into ? Damn.

MOST SATISFYING FINALE EVER!!!
shyuhaspivot9 October 2020
At first I was worried at how they would handle all the loose threads in only an hour.

BOY OH BOY THEY MANAGED TO PULL IT OFF IN SUCH A GREAT FASHION!!

Forget what you predicted you will be thrown ofcourse and what I love about the episode is that.... it actually made me feel bad about Homelander.. and also certain things..

This episode single handedly elevated the entire season and now I prefer 2nd season over the first any day. Dialogue has been gold and realistic as always.

I'm just speechless at the final reveal.

Diabolical!!!
noahiellina9 October 2020
This was an awesome finale, it pretty much wraps up all the storylines that have been in this season in such a satisfying way.

Homelander is incredible in this episode especially he really has been the star of this season, and the second half of this epsiode is simply perfect and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this show.

Amazing season!!!

A Perfect Ending
QJDWG9 October 2020
Season one left us with a lot of questions when the credits rolled on its season finale, but this ending... is perfect. I have no complaints, and although there are a few lingering questions to keep us excited for an already confirmed season three, I laughed, I cried, I cheered and I was surprised. This is perfect television, and I believe this was worth the five week wait.

Guys.. I think Nazi Bad
imxhill10 April 2022
Easily the best episode from season 2. I overall think season 2 was not as strong as Season 1, but I'd argue that S2 had better finale than S1. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I thought S1 had a weak finale.

Also, Giancarlo Esposito is just great.

Excellent episode with HUGE plot hole

Warning: Spoilers
I liked almost everything about this episode, but what bothers me the most is Maeve showing up at the end to save the day. First, why did she show up? Second, how did she know where to find them?

Amazing finale - Karl Urban was so good!
tarunfzr9 October 2020
Karl Urban was amazing in this one. The finale does a great job of tying everything up and setting up for more seasons. The climax was riveting.

A big, fun ride but a small consolation
TheVictoriousV9 October 2020
I somewhat understand the people who, with regards to entertainment, will say that "everything is really bad now". The statement itself is faulty, and has always been used by those who yearn for the good old days (whenever the "bad and new days" are). Franchises go sour. It's nothing new.

The reason it seems like "everything is bad" this time is that a lot of well-liked franchises worsen in strikingly similar ways: the social commentary becomes less subtle and more simple-minded, character arcs end up in unconvincing places (or take a few steps back), in-universe events begin to transpire in ways that disregard previously established ones (either for the sake of a message or plot contrivance), and the tonal shifts become less elegant. For some critics, Season 2 of Amazon's The Boys will find good company among Watchmen, Star Wars, and various Marvel products, but I'm not prepared to lump it in there just yet.

Season 2 was wonky, but the finale gave me much of what I enjoyed about the series from the start. When it goes dark, it does not hold back; when it gets violent, it sure gets violent; when it makes fun of the cynicism and politically correct pandering it is now partially guilty of, it is more in-touch with the celebrity-worshipping digital age than most. Lastly, I do find Hughie and Starlight (Jack Quaid and Erin Moriarty) somewhat adorable - even if their acting was better last year.

As true as that all may be, I see the criticisms. The lampooning of things like Neo-Nazism and alt-right incels was weirdly incoherent (sometimes the stand-in for the master race is superheroes; other times we get regular white supremacist talking points, or at least the buzzwords), the power levels among the superheroes seem to fluctuate wildly depending on what the plot demands, characters with interesting set-ups are granted weak pay-offs (or none), and Homelander (Anthony Starr), even if he's still my favorite character, is now at a point where he seems unreasonably anxious about being "outed", given how quickly he recovered in the public consciousness from the last "outing" (this is certainly not the only reason he's on-edge now but I shall not spoil too much). Maybe that's part of the satire? It's too subtle to fit into the rest of the season, methinks. Pick a level of petulance and aggressiveness and stick to it, Boys.

A lot of stuff in The Boys S2 went nowhere, and then right back to where it started. If the show must continue (as it clearly wants to), it won't surprise me if Season 2 becomes the one we skip on marathon night.

I don't care anymore
MisterKino16 October 2020
Aside from some hyper-violence and very on-the-nose political commentary, it's basically like every other generic show. Inconsistent character motivations, a nonexistent plot, and a lot of drama-for-drama's sake just don't cut it anymore. While I enjoyed season 1 for the most part, season 2 has left me wanting.

One of the best episodes I've seen
abdassy17 June 2022
Now I rarely post a review, but this episode was a masterpiece.

It has comedy, dark, drama, romance and action.

Too many things to talk about this episode but I've enjoyed every second of it...but there is something that everyone should talk about, its the acting in the series every actor does his character in every possible way.

Dark, Suspenseful, Emotional and Entertaining
BadgerStorm43459 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was the perfect season finale. In my opinion this was everything I want from this show. Seeing our best fight with Superheroes yet with Stormfront vs. Starlight, Kimiko and Maeve, as well as one of the saddest moments with the death of Becca Butcher. Homelander and Billy Butcher were the stars of this episode as always, due to an insane stand off in the woods that they had. Hughie and Starlight had an emotional climax as well. All this on top of Stormfront's brutal and yet deserved death, as well as all the scenes with Ryan and the twist of who the Senator really is, makes this, in my opinion, the best episode of the series so far.

WHERE'S SEASON 3?
franchielo9 October 2020
MY GOD! First I have to congratulate Kripke, cast and production. You guys made another wonderful season!

Keep the level of enthusiasm high, this will be one of the most rewarding episodes of a show you've ever seen.

I went to watch with a lot of expectations and once again I was completely surprised.

Can't wait for next season.

Hook, line and sinker

I couldn't help being a little disappointed after watching the season finale - But it's only because I'm soo fxxx hooked, that I can't wait another year or so for season 3. Best series since breaking bad. Equally violent, equally dark, equally lovable anti-(super)heroes.

Watch it!!
maxfilipkarlsson31 December 2020
I am very picky when it comes to series and have only finished like Band of Brothers, Rom and Game of Thrones and this serie had me hooked from episode 1. It does a great job with highlighting the dangers with heroes in society and what could go wrong if they're turned against us. The best thing is that it just keeps on getting better and better along the way.

The characters and the character development are really great and interresting and the actors are perfectly casted and doing an amazing job.

Watch it! It will blow your mind!

Wondering...
Affirmative_Dave11 October 2020
Congrats to The Boys for having the benefit of high ratings, despite serious consistency issues, and plot weaknesses.

In the finale (and season 2 globally) the more CGI scenes and brutal actions there is, the higher the rating becomes.

Nobody cares about the plot? A botched finale (like a lot of S2), where most of it is highly predictable?

Nobody cares about consistency? Throughput the season 2, and especially in the finale: in past episodes, some characters are incredibly strong, and yet, when that's convenient (for the writers) these supers become surprisingly vulnerable (with no explanation whatsoever).

Currently 9.6 ... like an episode of GoT, or BB... Seriously?

The actor who plays Homelander is great but...
RussHog10 October 2020
Everyone in the writers room should praise Anthony Starr for saving this season. While S2 had moments - overall it lost the plot. Butcher is a secondary character in his own show. Hughie is useless. Stormfront I guess can shoot people with lightening but conveniently the lightening strikes cause damage and sometimes they don't? People swing in to save the day when the plot needs them? Why make a satire about toxic superheroes and then fall into superhero cliches? Go back to the formula of the comic or cancel the show.

As you'd expect

A great final episode, as you'd expect. Plenty of satisfying action, plot developments, surprises, gore and a final twist setting up season three very nicely. Can't wait for it, personally.
