Exclusive: Emma Roberts (American Horror Story) is set to reteam with Stampede Ventures on Fourth Wall, a thriller that Alexis Ostrander (Servant) is directing from a script by Jerry Kontogiorgis, in her feature debut.
The project is Roberts’ second with the global media company on the heels of Space Cadet, a rom-com for Amazon MGM Studios, which will premiere globally on Prime Video this Fourth of July.
The film centers on a former child star (Roberts) from a popular ’90s television show who is kidnapped and wakes up in a complete recreation of the show’s set with the rest of the cast. As she’s forced to re-immerse herself in the iconic role she’s been trying to get away from her entire career, she must recreate the series’ most memorable moments to stay alive.

Simon West directed the film, while “The Last Son” scribe Greg Johnson penned the script.
The film follows aging contract killer Danny Dolinski (Waltz), who still believes he’s the best at what he does. The mismatched pair is asked to eliminate top members of a competing crime syndicate and, in the process, uncover their employer’s true motive: removing the old guard in a full takeover. However, The Company didn’t anticipate that Danny’s experience, coupled with Wihlbord’s brilliance, could enable them...

Workplace dramas are all the rage right now, thanks to films like “Blackberry” and shows likes “Severance,” “The Consultant,” “WeCrashed,” and “Industry.” But who paved the way for works like that? That’s right, Don Draper and “Mad Men,” a series that remains one of the highlights of 21st-century TV. So it’s comforting, in a way, to see Jon Hamm back in a cubicle for “Corner Office,” a new dark comedy hitting theaters and Digital/On Demand next month.

"They don't care about you! You're a number in a column on a spreadsheet...!" Lionsgate has revealed the official trailer for an indie film called Corner Office, a workplace comedy in the same vein as Office Space and "Severance" with a few tricks up its sleeves. There's been many of these corporate-work-sucks series recently, such as "The Consultant" and "Glamorous" and "WeCrashed" and "Industry", along with all the classics like "The Office". This premiered at last year's Tribeca Film Festival, and played at the Raindance & Fort Lauderdale Film Fests. In this office satire, Jon Hamm plays Orson, a straight-laced employee at a big, generic corporation who discovers a blissfully empty corner office to get away from his colleagues. But why does this seem to upset them so much? What is really going on? Starring Danny Pudi, Christopher Heyerdahl, Allison Riley, Shawn Macdonald, and Sarah Gadon. That is one magnificent mustache on Hamm,...

The intersection of late-stage capitalism and late-stage Peak TV has made prophets of people normally fixated on profits.
It would be borderline madness if, on a weekly basis, the Walt Disney Co., Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon and Apple were to send shareholders an email with the subject line: “The End Is Nigh.” But the television industry, which has normally explored issues of class with the same skittishness it reserves for religion, has started to treat the economic realities of our American experiment with far more pessimism than you would expect.
The irony is plain: These content producers/unlikely doomsday preachers are putting out a steady stream of shows about the corrosive impact of a system that treats workers as interchangeable cogs existing only to fatten the bottom line; at the same time, they’re raising subscription prices on loyal customers and killing off completed productions that employed hundreds for tax write-offs.

In this weekly data series powered by Parrot Analytics, we look at the top breakout shows of the past week. Breakout shows are the most in-demand series that have premiered in the past 100 days.
The CW’s “Gotham Knights” had a strong premiere as it entered the breakout shows ranking with 16.9 times the average series demand, a whopping 146% increase since its first episode aired on March 14, according to Parrot Analytics‘ data, which takes into account consumer research, streaming, downloads and social media, among other engagement.
Even though makers of the video game that carries the same name and is set in the timeline hastened to distance themselves from the show after an ill-received trailer release, television’s “Gotham Knights” appears to have overcome the controversy. It could even prove to be another example of why tapping into video game IP has become such an important strategy in Hollywood.

And “The Last of Us” is nearing the end of its world-conquering Season 1 run. This Sunday’s episode is one of the season’s best. But our top pick for an awards-contending show to stream this weekend is a sports docuseries that’s entering long-running institution territory, as far as streaming shows go.

The show has many different mystery and thriller undertones that kept us interested in what was to come next, but the ending of the finale may be hard to understand if you weren’t paying full attention to specific plot points earlier in the season. That’s where we come in! What was the point of Regus’ takeover of CompWare? And what are the fates of the two employees we followed all season, Craig and Elaine (Nat Wolff and Brittany O’Grady)? Let’s find out!

If you currently work from home and have anxiety about going to the office to work, “The Consultant,” a new series on Prime Video, will make you rethink your life choices. Based on the best-selling horror novel by Bentley Little, the eight-episode series stars Christoph Waltz as Regus Patoff, a business consultant with a sadistic method of restructuring businesses.
Created by Tony Basgallop (“Servant”) and executive produced and directed by Matt Shakman (“WandaVision”), the series is more of an interpretation of Little’s book rather than a direct adaptation. As a result, it leans more into sinister themes of the lengths people will go to for money in corporate America.
Waltz’s chilling performance highlights this series as he embodies Patoff, a mild-mannered boss who never raises his voice but can manipulate those around him to do unspeakable things.

Nat Wolff has been really famous a couple of times. The first was in 2007, when his show The Naked Brothers Band (based on his real-life musical group) became Nickelodeon’s most popular kids’ series — that was the kind of fame that got him bullied at his New York City middle school. Then, in 2015, he led Paper Towns, the big-screen adaptation of John Green’s blockbuster YA novel — that was the screaming-teen-girls-following-you-on-a-global-press-tour variety.
Now he’s preparing for the release of a series that features his first starring TV role — and a run alongside Parker Posey and Hari Nef in an off-Broadway adaptation of The Seagull/Woodstock, NY — and feeling further from those days than ever. “A couple of girls followed me home from rehearsals the other day, and it made me realize I barely think about being a child star,” says the 28-year-old over late-morning shrimp tacos in Times Square.

HBO's hit anthology series "The White Lotus" is not only known for its clever satire but its ensemble cast. The first season, which premiered in July 2021, centers around a group of guests staying at the fictional White Lotus resort in Hawaii. While Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, and Jennifer Coolidge make up the older cast, Sydney Sweeney and Brittany O'Grady represent Gen Z on the show by playing a pair of college-aged mean girls named Olivia and Paula.
You may recognize O'Grady from previous shows like "The Messengers," "Star," and "Little Voice." And if you miss seeing her on "The White Lotus," you're probably wondering, what is she up to now? Well, apart from landing one of the lead roles in the new dark comedy series "The Consultant," O'Grady is now married. The actor and her longtime love Ben Huyard tied the knot in September 2022. Luckily for us, O'Grady has shared...

His first series since Apple TV+’s Servant, Tony Basgallop’s Amazon show The Consultant confirms his place as a writer with no interest in choosing a lane.
Like Servant, The Consultant is a chamber piece of escalating creepiness — part horror, part satire — capable of occasionally getting under your skin and occasionally making you laugh, but never really committing to one tone or narrative hook for very long. And The Consultant is, like Servant, a format-defying half-hour dramedy that, ideally, could have been a feature or possibly even an episode of a suspense anthology; it’s perplexingly rushed at times and oppressively elongated at others.
The hook of The Consultant is sure to be Christoph Waltz, delivering a compulsively watchable performance that falls right into the Oscar winner’s comfort zone of seductive weirdness that is alternately reptilian and lupine. It’s to Waltz’s credit that the sort of...

Based on Bentley Little's book by the same name, The Consultant follows what happens when a consultant is hired to right the corporate ship of a well-respected tech startup.
Tony Basgallop, who is best known to readers as the creator and showrunner for the Apple TV+ series Servant, has worked magic to bring The Consultant to life.
Christoph Waltz stars as the titular character, a man who is what he seems, although seeing what he is takes everyone around him by surprise.
Those familiar with Little's work will recognize the uneasy feeling Regus Patoff brings to the workplace, which has a similar aura to Basgallop's work on Servant. You know something's not quite right, but you don't know what it is.

Christoph Waltz, whose glower and verbosity have won him two Academy Awards, surfaces now on Amazon Prime Video as a malign expert in business and in manipulation. After a tragedy involving the founder of the app gaming outfit CompWare (the name may give a sense of how carefully the script is written), Waltz’s Regus Patoff enters to right the ship. His claim on the company is unclear to its employees, but soon enough, he’s occupying close to all of their mental real estate, calling them at all hours and asking invasive personal questions that some force of charisma or of mind control makes them feel compelled to answer.

Review: Fans of horror fiction are familiar with author Bentley Little, but mainstream audiences are not. The prolific author has published over twenty-five novels. Only one of his short stories have been adapted on screen (“The Washingtonians” was an episode of the anthology series Masters of Horror). Now, his 2016 novel The Consultant has become a Prime Video series from the creative team of Tony Basgallop (AppleTV+ series Servant) and director Matt Shakman (WandaVision). With Christoph Waltz in the title role, The Consultant is equal parts Severance and The Devil’s Advocate. Prime Video has become one of the more underrated streamers when compared to Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, and its other competitors. While Amazon’s streamer boasts big titles like The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Boys, it does, however, lack the abundance of content that the other major players in the streaming game possess. Prime Video isn’t lacking in originality, though. When it does release a new series, you can expect it will typically be able to carve out a niche in its genre of choice.
Enter the much-anticipated Christoph Waltz vehicle, The Consultant. Based on the novel by acclaimed horror writer Bentley Little, this eight-episode first season created by Tony Basgallop (Servant) has largely been marketed as a black comedy by Amazon and various media outlets in the months before release. Few actors have become as synonymous with malicious businesspeople as Christoph Waltz. After his Oscar-winning turns in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained, Waltz has played dastardly villains of all sorts in everything from James Bond films to the recent small-screen remake of The Most Dangerous Game. In a slightly different role, Waltz portrays a different sort of bad guy in the new Prime Video series The Consultant. Based on the novel by Bentley Little, The Consultant is a series ideally suited for Waltz’s signature style while also blending elements from the other creative members of the team on this project.

Christoph Waltz is warm, inviting, and disarmingly kind — as if he knows it can take a moment for people to adjust to his real-life persona compared to the mostly horrifying men he’s embodied onscreen. In truth, since his portrayal of SS Colonel Hans Landa in 2009’s Inglourious Basterds, Waltz has captivated through peculiar means. Whether rooting for his character’s demise or investing in their glory, there is no passive way to take in the two-time Oscar winner’s work. And so, whether he is orchestrating the death of...

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the office, meet what may be TV’s true boss from hell in the darkly comic thriller, The Consultant. He’s steel-eyed Regus Patoff (played with gusto by two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz), who walks into financially strapped Los Angeles gaming company CompWare and, after a shocking death, suddenly calls all the shots. (Credit: Prime Video) Lining up the staff to sniff them each because he senses someone doesn’t smell right? Calling a worker into the office…at 3am? That’s not in any employee handbook we know of. Trying to uncover the potentially villainous ways Patoff came into power drives ambitious CompWare employees Elaine (Brittany O’Grady) and Craig (Nat Wolff). "Werewolf by Night" really stood out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was a single hour based on the comic book character of the same name and was (sort of) a first shot across the bow for the idea of a special rather than a series or a full-length feature film. It was followed by a presentation connected to the main MCU, "The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special."
Of course, Marvel has done something akin to this before in the form of 3- to 15-minute short films called One Shots that align with their features like "All Hail the King" and "Agent Carter" which went with "Iron Man 3" and "The Consultant" that was spawned by "Thor." "Werewolf by Night," however, was more in the style of holiday specials like the animated "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" from 1966 that used to air on television around Halloween.

After two attempts at a successful film franchise, the Fantastic Four are finally working from the grips of their home, Marvel Studios. Audiences were already given a taste with the fan casting being put into an in-universe scenario where John Krasinski plays Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. According to Collider, the film’s newly attached director, Matt Shakman, says the project is set to kick off “early next year” and will be making the movie a priority, despite the director having been attached to such things as Amazon’s The Consultant.
No formal announcements had been made concerning the casting, and Krasinski says it could go either way. When he first got the role in the cameo, it had been quickly established with a quick call from Kevin Feige. “WandaVision” director Matt Shakman opened up about his decision to exit the upcoming “Star Trek” sequel to instead direct Marvel’s “Fantastic Four” reboot, due Feb. 14, 2025. The prolific filmmaker, who counts credits on series like “The Great,” “Succession,” “Game of Thrones,” “The Boys” and Prime Video’s upcoming “The Consultant,” also confirmed that filming on the MCU’s “Fantastic Four” reboot would commence in early 2024.
“I had a great time working on ‘Star Trek’ for a little over a year, working closely with J.J. Abrams and everyone at Paramount, and I love that franchise, and I love that cast that J.J. put together, and it would have been an unbelievable pleasure to work with them on the fourth installment there,” Shakman told TheWrap during an interview about his work on “The Consultant”. “But movies have different journeys and momentums and and schedules are a little bit mercurial, and so...

Did Christoph Waltz freak you out in "Inglorious Basterds?" He has the creepy smile thing absolutely mastered, and we're about to see it again in the upcoming Prime Video series, "The Consultant." In the show, Waltz plays Regus Patoff, a consultant who comes into a huge mobile video game company called CompWare after the CEO shoots himself. He's not exactly a comforting presence, sniffing employees to decide if they stay at the company and trimming his nose hairs in the office. I apologize if you were eating when you read that.
The earlier trailer was upsetting enough, but this one is even more unnerving. The show was created by Tony Basgallop and is directed by Matt Shakman. Shakman's style is all over this trailer, which feels at points as though you're supposed to laugh when things are looking rather murder-y. It's like the camera has very good comic timing yet...
