Intense

Warning: Spoilers
I liked it, and will watch upcoming episodes. If this entire series is like this, the first episode, perhaps the story lines will be taken from todays news. I enjoyed seeing Michael Chiklis and Jill Hennessy in the lead roles but as I was looking at upcoming episodes there are entirely different actors in each one, I guess that's okay.

A couple things that struck me. When Michael Chiklis was discussing on the stairs with his son what is going on with him he (Chiklis) kept backing up putting his son in a state of aggressiveness and command, no wonder his son was the way he was. In the courtroom the prosecutor wasn't asking questions but was testifying for him, not a single objection.

Accused reminded me of a show that aired in 2011 called Flashpoint. It was also filmed in Canada and had the same grittiness and intensity that this one had.

Enjoyed it and cannot wait for upcoming episodes.

You had me! Until the last 10mins
jhaywood8829 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Know, the show is intense and you are forced to make emotion opinions - which is awesome because you are invested/pulled into the show. AND the twist are perfect - what you expect to happen doesn't happen, people are unpredictable.

Episode 1:1 - 7 Stars - The only reason for the 7 stars is because they failed to connect simple dots.

The show is good. You had me! Until the last 10mins! WHY!!! Why would you do that! You tried to blame the man for something WE ALL KNOW "YOU" District Attorney " COULDN'T PROVE! There were too many questions! The biggest question, how did you know what the father was going to do? ONLY the father knew! Nowhere in the episode the father reveal his attempt to anyone.

Makes you think
Farfallina784 February 2023
The premise of this show chronicles ordinary people in a courtroom introducing the accused. Only we have no idea yet why they are there and what they might have done. Through the episode we learn what events brought them there from the accused's POV. That's what sets this series apart. Episode one is a very topical matter about school shootings...yet it still catches you by surprise. You might think one thing happened, only for the scenario to be completely different.

It was nice seeing Jill Hennessy and Michael Chickless again. In fact each episode so far has interesting guest stars involved in the different cases.

Gripping psycho thriller

Warning: Spoilers
This episode of Accused covers a parents worst nightmare: a psychotic child who can and does become a mass killer. It is done through the eyes of an eventually unsuccessful negligence prosecution brought by an aggressive District Attorney. It is excellently done with some great acting especially Michael Chiklis as Scott Harmon, a successful Chicago neurosurgeon and Jill Hennessy as his wife Lynn. The most brilliantly portrayed and chilling role was of their high school aged son Devin by 17 year old Oakes Fegley of Pete's Dragon and The Goldfinch fame. Great tension and excellent plot development and pace.

Excellent

Much better series than the description led me to believe! One of the standout aspects of "Accused: Scotts Story" is its stellar cast. Each actor delivers a captivating performance of their characters. Every role is played with nuance and conviction.

What truly sets this episode apart is its masterful handling of unexpected plot twists. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the narrative takes a sharp turn, leaving you reeling. Yet, these twists never feel forced or contrived; instead, they seamlessly integrate into the overarching story.

It is also supported by impeccable writing and direction. The pacing is brisk and deliberate, ensuring that the tension never wanes. Each scene builds upon the suspense and leading to a fantastic ending.

Society's Crucification
nightringer-768405 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A father who knows about his son's plan to do mass killing, has the opportunity to kill his son before the dreadful plan took place. He didn't do it because his son wanted to connect emotionally with him. The open public court tried to crucify him for not killing his son. The question is if he did kill his son, the trial would be to crucify him as a bad father. A hypocrite society trying to find scape goat for everything bad by justifying criminal action.

A mother who loved and would do anything for her children, trying to convince her husband to be closer to his son, while the father tried to convince her that his son needed 'special care' for his violent behavior. Yet, after all the mass killing, she stated to her husband that she wished he had killed their son. A hypocrite society trying to avoid responsibility of her actions.

In this day of information freedom, half story is usually ending up with a scape goat, but only the scape goat suffers as the accusers point fingers of blame. Welcome to the ruin of modern society.

PS: I will also be to be blamed as a hypocrite if I read this in the news because of the half story.

Intense interesting father son mind drama.
blanbrn25 January 2024
This episode one "Scott's Story" from season one of "FOX's" "Accused" which first aired on 1-22-23 was one well done and written drama filled story that entertained and twisted. Set in Illinois a prominent brain surgeon Scott Harmon(the good Michael Chiklis from "The Shield") has a good life and loving wife in Lynn(Jill Hennessy) however his youngest son Devin has shown some red flags and warning signs. It's really mind numbing for all in the family as Scott even has a plan to take matters into his own hands and all of this takes a path to a school shooting. However who was really to blame, you the viewer can make the call. Still this episode was a focus and showcase on parents in denial seeking help as it highlighted the life of a troubled teenage boy.

I'm committed
jackie_beales1 February 2023
Well thought out dramatization of the dilemma parents face when their children don't fit the bill.

Mom was heavy in denial. Unfortunately dad not so much. Well thought out series that doesn't insult one's intelligence.it displays parents real hard emotions when it comes to their children's behaviour and how difficult reality is when it comes to a crossroads.

These parents were clearly desperate & willing to do all necessary to help their child.

It's still heart wrenching as there are many folks out there that clearly see the writing on the wall when it comes to their disturbed, troubled kids.

If you seek a happy ending, this is not the place to find it. But it's grounded in hope.

Unfortunately not enough.

So far I'm committed to the concept.

WOW! Too soon?
missesluvjones24 January 2023
My initial reaction is that while I love the concept that the show is exploring: ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances; Scott's story was nearly too real. With all of the recent school shootings (there was even one in Iowa today), this was very hard to watch. I appreciated the angle of not knowing fully of what and who did what until the end of the episode. One thing for sure, is that the show appears to explore the hard topics and so I'm interested to see where it goes. It may be hard to watch for some audiences.

Trigger warnings: mass shooting, suicide, bullying, violence, school shooting.

Gut wrenching
uscmd25 January 2023
The ultimate family dilemma. One son is an scholar, all around great kid. The other, deeply disturbed. Apparently, a sociopath, lacking, the capacity for empathy, and planning school mass casualty event.

Sadly, this is not fiction. However, any parent confronting this, needs to know there are laws for involuntary hospitalization. The laws vary from state to state. In Ca., its as easy as contacting county mental health officials, to do a "danger to self, danger to others assessment." His notebook would be good for a 3 days hospitalization. This can be extended by 14 days x2. If there is still an apparent danger (show the Dr the notebook), the stay can be extended. The process can also be initiated by a lawyer in concert with the Dr.

The show was hard to watch, but necessary. The reason, I decided to approach my review, the way I did, was feeling crushed by so learned an M. D. destroyed, by so dire a family tragedy. The show, summing up, with "the police wouldn't listen or do anything", left me feeling a need to encourage parents in anything close to this, to reach out. Help is out there.

Be a squeaking wheel, until someone hears you.....and gives you help finding a solution.

Ridiculous.
ecastonguay131 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Ridiculous and pointless. I thought this episode might be going somewhere at least interesting. Then, of course, it gets implausible and silly and a political message needs to get thrown in. The actions of the father in the last 10 minutes go against the entire set up of the rest of the show. And the actions of the prosecutor are not only ridiculous, they don't even make sense. So tired of seeing garbage shows with lazy writing like this coming out. I guess they don't care about ratings...if this is the best they can do, I wish them luck. It is even worse that some truly good actors were involved in this garbage.

Cashing in on every parent's worst nightmare
texnetplex4 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Another attempt by the entertainment industry to trigger your worst fears. Seems to be made with the intent to cause people to react by making them paranoid and ready give up some more of their rights in order to feel safer. I know it touched on quite a few of my biggest fears and had me thinking... (Maybe people like that should be arrested before they can do harm. People like that shouldn't be able to buy guns. Angry, developing teenagers like that are a risk to society. You could be driving down the road and some careless troublemaker like that could kill you or a loved one with a rock. How do you determine who is "like that" and who makes those determinations? I guess, if we want to be safe, we should all give up some more rights. Or you could not be manipulated). Seems like everything that gets released nowadays has some sort of motivation. There is no longer anything released for the sake of entertainment.
