According to genealogy company Ancestry, Taylor and Emily are sixth cousins, three times removed (via the Today show).
“Swift and Dickinson both descend from a 17th century English immigrant,” Ancestry told the morning show. “Taylor Swift’s ancestors remained in Connecticut for six generations until her part of the family eventually settled in northwestern Pennsylvania, where they married into the Swift family line.”
Funnily enough, Taylor has publicly mentioned Emily before.

By the time Jonathan Frakes directed the recent surprise release crossover episode of "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," the actor was no stranger to stepping behind the camera for the sci-fi franchise. In fact, the actor best known for playing William T. Riker on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" has been directing episodes of "Star Trek" ever since 1990, when he helmed a season three episode of Tng in which Data (Brent Spiner) creates an android "child" called Lal.
In a wide-ranging retrospective with Variety, Frakes looked back on those early directorial efforts, sharing some memories about key episodes of the franchise. When it comes to his directorial debut, though, he mostly remembers realizing just how rowdy he and his costars could be on set. "Our cast, as you probably know, is notoriously rambunctious," Frakes told Variety. "I was, for better or for worse, one of the leaders of that kind of behavior on the set.

Meanwhile, Department Q — from The Crown banner Left Bank Pictures — is an eight-part detective series based on the novels of Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen, with Scott Frank (The Queen’s Gambit) set as lead director.
On the feature front, Netflix also announced Bank of Dave: The Sequel, a follow up to last year’s popular comedy-drama — based on a true story — about a British businessman (played by 007 star Rory Kinnear) who...

As an actor, you can count on George Clooney to deliver the goods -- whether that means flashing that legendary, mischievous smile of his, or buttoning down the charm to play a more conflicted and possibly amoral character. As a director, however, you can never be too sure which Clooney you're going to get. There's the one who gave us the fascinating "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" and the riveting "Good Night, and Good Luck." Then there's the one behind the political thriller "The Ides of March" and the apocalyptic survival drama "The Midnight Sky," both of which have their merits but are hurt by weak stories. Finally, we have the Clooney who helmed stuff like "The Monuments Men" and "Suburbicon," which are baffling misfires given the wealth of talent involved in making them.

Danish helmer Ole Christian Madsen, credited for the HBO series “Banshee” (2013-16) and WWII drama “Flame & Citron” starring Mads Mikkelsen, has taken up the challenge of bringing Adler-Olsen’s suspenseful universe to the silver screens, working from a script by Jakob Weis.

More often than not, true stories are infinitely more interesting and continue to resonate now. In Johannesburg-based filmmaker Charlie Vundla’s “Frontier Mistress,” which he describes as a Western set in 18th century South Africa, the story of a Huguenot refugee and her struggle against an abusive husband and an oppressive, racist regime, continues to reverberate today.
“It’s a timely film that deals with issues of gender and racial equality at a moment where the struggle for both of these has taken on a greater urgency,” Vundla told Variety. “And, yes, while this film does address socio-political issues I don’t want them to overwhelm the film; This will be above all else an exciting narrative that is character-driven and puts the story first,” he asserted.
“Frontier Mistress” participates in the Frontières Co-production Market, organized by the Fantasia International Film Festival in collaboration with Cannes’ Marché du Film.

The release of a Christopher Nolan movie, even one that “underperforms” at the box office like this week’sInterstellar, is by far the most fervently talked about work of art for several news cycles. Ram Gopal Varma is back. Well, as a matter of fact, he was never gone, courtesy three releases in nine months between 2012-2013 (The Attacks Of 26/11, Department, Bhoot Returns). However given his prolific presence in the B-Town, it has been a relatively long break, that of seven months, as he returns with Satya 2. Forewarning that the film is anything but a sequel but just similar to his cult Satya in its spirit, Ramu gets talking. One of the key drivers for audience to st...

Triplett, N.C. — The way Eustace Conway sees it, there's the natural world, as exemplified by his Turtle Island Preserve in the Blue Ridge Mountains. And then there's the "plastic, imitation" world that most other humans inhabit.
But the border between the two has always been porous – uncomfortably so these days.
When Conway – known today as a star of the History Channel reality show "Mountain Men" – bought his first 107 acres in 1987, his vision for Turtle Island was as "a tiny bowl in the earth, intact and natural, surrounded by pavement and highways." People peering inside from nearby ridges would see "a pristine and green example of what the whole world once looked like."
Since leaving his parents' suburban home at 17 and moving into the woods, Conway has been preaching the gospel of sustainable, "primitive" living. But over the past three decades, those notions have clearly evolved.

Mumbai, April 8: Southern actor Rana Daggubati, who made his Bollywood debut with "Dum Maro Dum" in 2011, has no personal style statement and says his personality is "bits and pieces of the films" that he has done.

That 2012 began with an overwrought hyper-melodramatic brutal and tumultuous remake of Agneepath and ended with Yash Chopra’s muted mellow all-heart-no-malice ode to romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan seems indicative of the direction that Bollywood seems headed for. The journey, as we can see, is unpredictable and largely exciting. Looking back, some films of 2012 that fetched hype-star ratings seem bloated and over-eager to please either critics or the masses, but never both. Luckily the films that were truly meritorious did get a place under the swoon.
