There is a German saying which translates as, “All bad things come in threes.” It is one Prince Andrew may well be uttering under his breath this weekend, with reports that the disgraced British royal is to the be the subject of yet another feature-length profile piece.
Andrew is already the central subject of two rival dramas, both inspired by his disastrous interview with the BBC’s Newsnight team in 2019, in which he attempted to restore his reputation but succeeded in only making things worse as he reflected without apology on his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. “I was too honourable,” was just one misguided comment that inspired his mother, the now late Queen Elizabeth II, to announce speedily that his royal highness title would no longer be used, and he would no longer be seen on public royal duty.

It’s already been a busy 2024 for Netflix. Out is long time film chief Scott Stuber; in are live sports (sort of), a huge Sundance splash, and 18 Oscar nominations, the most of any individual studio. What does the next 11 months have in store? Answer: a hell of a lot.
Netflix on February 1 released a teaser video for its biggest properties arriving in 2024, including more than 50 new movies and 90 new and returning series. The highlight is “Squid Game 2,” the follow-up season to the South Korean dystopian smash hit that became Netflix’s biggest show of all time.
At the end of Netflix’s mega-tease, we see Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and his new bright-red hair walking through an airport when a mysterious voice on his phone tells him, “You’re going to regret the choice you made.”
“I’m going to find you, no matter what it takes,” he says in return.

Please remember that this doesn’t represent every movie and series currently in development at Netflix. There are a few that we’re not allowed to mention just yet, including a hotly anticipated new series from a writer who has produced some excellent titles for Netflix so far.
There are also plenty of shows and movies that should probably be listed here but won’t be. That’s because of how entwined US and UK projects tend to be, with some more US-produced series like The Witcher also falling into the UK camp...

SonyLIV scored an International Emmy nomination for “Rocket Boys,” for lead actor Jim Sarbh. Netflix won the International Emmy for comedy for “Vir Das: Landing” and “The Railway Men” cracked the streamer’s global non-English TV top 3 in addition to topping the South Asian chart. Locally, Netflix dominated the Filmfare streaming awards with 26 wins including prizes for “Trial by Fire,” “Kohrra” and “Scoop.”

CBC newsmagazine The Fifth Estate has aired its Buffy Sainte-Marie exposé.
The hourlong documentary episode, presented by senior investigative reporter Geoff Leo, alleges that the singer-songwriter — considered the first Indigenous winner of an Academy Award — has been fraudulently posing as Native throughout her 60-year career.
While the specifics about Sainte-Marie’s background varied as they appeared in articles and other materials over the years — The Fifth Estate found news clippings referring to her as Algonquin, Mi’kmaq and Cree — eventually her accepted (and authorized) biography was that she was born in 1941 on Cree land in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan and removed from her birth family and adopted by a white American family, the Sainte-Maries, as part of a government policy known as the Sixties Scoop. Later, as a young adult, she reconnected with the Cree people and was adopted by descendants of Chief Piapot according to Cree ways.

A year ago this week, accusations surfaced in the media that the late Sacheen Littlefeather, best known for representing Marlon Brando on the Oscars stage in protest of the treatment of Native Americans, had fabricated her Native heritage.
Now Buffy Sainte-Marie, considered to be the first Indigenous Oscar winner (for co-writing the pop standard “Up Where We Belong” from 1982’s An Officer and a Gentleman), is facing similar allegations.
On Friday, the CBC newsmagazine The Fifth Estate is expected to air a documentary digging into the singer-songwriter’s roots. The episode description — the second of the 49th season of the Canadian public broadcaster’s long-running series — does not name the “icon” whose Indigenous ancestry is under investigation, but Sainte-Marie has preemptively come forward a day early to defend what she calls “[her] truth as [she] knows it.”

Kapoor Khan has said that her character is inspired in part by Kate Winslet’s role in “Mare of Easttown.” “I love ‘Mare of Easttown’ and when Hansal came to me, I said this is something that I’ve really been dying to do. India’s Hansal Mehta has scored his second successive streaming hit of the year with SonyLIV series “Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story.” This follows his earlier success with Netflix show “Scoop.”
Based on Sanjay Singh’s book “Telgi: A Reporter’s Diary,” “Scam 2003” is written by Kiran Yadnyopavit, Kedar Patankar and Karan Vyas. It follows the story of Abdul Karim Telgi, the mastermind behind a scam printing counterfeit stamp paper in India, which earned $3.8 billion. A stamp paper is a government-issued blank document with headers of varying financial values that are used to validate most business transactions in India.
The show is the second in the “Scam” series after SonyLIV’s “Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story,” also created by Mehta. This time around, Mehta entrusted directing duties to Tushar Hiranandani as he wanted fresh eyes on the material. Mehta was also busy wrapping “Scoop.”

Actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, who plays the love interest of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s transgender character of Harika in crime drama ‘Haddi’, spoke about his role, and said that the basic idea was to communicate the concept of true love between people irrespective of gender.
Directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma, the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anurag Kashyap, and Zeeshan in the lead. Nawaz plays the character of Haddi/Harika, while Zeeshan is seen as Irfan.
Talking to Ians, Zeeshan spoke on the mental and physical toll such characters take on the actors.
“I don’t think there is any such toll on you. Some things of the character remain with you. There is always a give and take. It’s not a very intense but nice and tender character. And we had to achieve that softness. A tenderness should remain in their relationship,” he said.

Sure, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be a looming issue for the royal family as long as they’re at odds. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex aren’t reportedly as much of a “problem” as another British royal, Prince Andrew.

Years after a Newsnight interview resulted in the Duke of York losing patronages, the use of his Hrh title, and his working royal status, Andrew remains an issue for the royal family. King Charles III has no desire for his 63-year-old brother “to come out of the freezer,” an insider told The Times.
“Andrew is more of a long-term problem than Harry and Meghan,” the “palace aide” said. “It feels like more stuff is going to come out on Epstein,...

When Scam 1992 broke into the Indian Ott space three years ago, the web series scene in this country didn’t have much to offer other than Sacred Games or Made in Heaven. Upon its arrival, Hansal Mehta’s biographical epic on the convicted stockbroker Harshad Mehta not only became a rage among the audience, but it also made people take the Indian Ott space seriously. Three years later, its lead star, Pratik Gandhi, a relatively unknown face back then, is a household name who we regularly see in commercials where the now iconic Scam 1992 intro music plays in the background. Hansal Mehta, already a prolific director at the time of the show’s arrival, is on a career-high after delivering the Netflix thriller series Scoop only a few months ago. Considering all that, the second installment of the Scam franchise, titled Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, is possibly the most...

Devo have confirmed that their ongoing world tour will indeed mark their final run of shows together.
Speaking to the Guardian in a new interview, Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh explained the band’s decision to wrap up 50 years of touring as such: “Are you married? Imagine you had four wives and you worked together. It’s tricky being in a band.” Added Gerald Casale, “You’ve got a body of work informed by a whole manifesto and philosophy. Do you let go and move on to the next thing? You want change, otherwise you’re stale, but you don’t want to be contrived.”
Devo recently wrapped up a series of gigs in the UK and Europe. Come November, they’ll embark on a run of west coast shows that includes stops in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, as well as an appearance at Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach.

P!Nk didn’t let severe thunderstorms stop her from playing a concert at Nationals Park in Washington, DC on Monday night. Instead, the singer weathered heavy rain and wind in order to the stage the highly choreographed and acrobatic production — which, at one point, even saw her soar high above the stadium in a harness.
The beginning of the concert was briefly delayed as fans were asked to wait inside of the venue’s concourse until the worst of the storms passed. P!Nk finally took the stage around 9:15 p.m. local time but still managed to run through a full 23-song set that mixed greatest hits, covers of Bob Dylan and Sade, and various aerial stunts. “Singin’ in the rain……. What a glorious feeling,” she wrote in an Instagram post alongside video of her performance. Watch the clip and other fan-captured footage below.
