Following a limited theatrical release, director Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review Here) was released through the Netflix streaming service back in December, then Rebel Moon: Part Two – The Scargiver (read our review of that one Here) reached the service last month… but we’ve known from early on that these PG-13 versions of the movies wouldn’t be the only versions we’d see. Snyder has also put together extended director’s cut of both films, which will each have around an hour of additional footage. They’re expected to be released through Netflix sometime this summer, possibly in August, and the director’s cut of Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire just got its rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board. It earned an R for brutal bloody violence and gore, sexual content, graphic nudity and language.

Spider-Man 2 villain Doctor Octopus was played by Alfred Molina, who made his debut as Satipo in Harrison Ford’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. Since then, Molina has built a solid portfolio in Hollywood with projects like Boogie Nights, Frida, and The Da Vinci Code. However, his father was not happy that he turned down the high-paying manager position to pursue his dream of acting. Molina was moved to tears as he shared that he hoped his father had lived longer to see his success in the industry.

One of the easiest ways to measure someone’s success is to count all the pop culture references that others make to them. In the case of Stephen King, they would probably hit a three-digit number, considering how many TV shows, movies, and other novel authors have been using King’s plots as an inspiration.
If you are interested to see 10 of the most popular TV shows that referred to King one way or the other, check out the list below.
Lost (2004-2010)
Heavily influenced by King's writing, Lost had no shortage of references and easter eggs to the author within the show. The most obvious are season 3 Juliet's choice of Carrie as a book club entry, and the future version of Jack reading a newspaper clipping with words like "Ted," "the Tower," and "beam" in it, all references to Stephen King's The Dark Tower.
Derry Girls (2018-2022)

Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel Verity is getting the Hollywood treatment.
Amazon MGM Studios is developing an adaptation of the novel, with Eat the Cat’s Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund on board to produce. Hillary Seitz is currently writing the script.
Verity was self-published in 2018 before being acquired by Grand Central Publishing in 2021. It grew into a phenomenon, spending months on The New York Times bestsellers list and selling more than one million copies in 2023 alone.
Verity follows a woman named Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer facing financial ruin who accepts the job of a lifetime…or so she thinks. The woman is hired by the husband of a bestselling thriller author named Verity Crawford to finish the remaining novels in Verity’s book series, as the author is unable to complete them after suffering a mysterious accident. Mads Mikkelsen’s name is synonymous to the greatest movie villains of all time. The Danish actor is notorious for his captivating and terrifying portrayals of unhinged yet sophisticated characters that stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Mikkelsen indulges in heavy topics and hard-to-watch films, but sometimes, a picture can be too much even for him — that’s how he knows it’s brilliant.
Mads Mikkelsen’s Unlikely Movie of Choice
People are always curious what their favorite movie stars’ favorite movies are, and Mads Mikkelsen shared his Top 5 with A.frame. Most of the Hannibal actor’s selections are well-familiar to the American audience: Taxi Driver (1976), Singin' in the Rain (1952), Dekalog (1989), and Apocalypse Now (1979). Okay, Dekalog is also quite niche, but you get the picture.
Yet Mads Mikkelsen’s fifth all-time favorite picture is a criminally overlooked war movie coming straight from the Soviet Union. This 1985 film is...

Enigmatic goth icon Siouxsie Sioux has released her first new recording in nearly a decade — a new cover of Iggy Pop’s “The Passenger,” recorded as a duet with Iggy, for an ice cream commercial.
Siouxsie is of course plenty familiar with “The Passenger,” covering the song in 1987 with Siouxsie and the Banshees. The new version is unlike either the band’s horn-fueled cover, or Iggy Pop’s thrumming punk original; instead, it’s a moody, downtempo ballad that erupts with cinematic and orchestral splendor as Siouxsie and Iggy deliver fittingly dramatic vocal performances.

The opening scenes of director Christian Sparkes’ The King Tide set an ominous tone: a powerful storm takes down the power lines of a small island town as a pregnant woman loses her child while her dementia-suffering mother sits nearby. In the morning, as the town takes stock of the damage and the power is restored, a surprising discovery is found in an overturned boat in the harbour: a baby girl…with the ability to heal.
Writers Albert Shin and William Woods, working from a story by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, treat the story as something of a morality tale mixed with a fable. Following the cold open, the action jumps ahead 10 years at a point when the unnamed island is thriving. The fishing is bountiful, the islanders are self-sufficient and have cut ties with the mainland, and most everyone is happy.

Netflix is one of the top streaming services for a reason. What attracts so many millions of users around the world is the freedom to choose content — Netflix's library may not be endless, but there is never a shortage of viewing options.
In particular, the platform actively offers all kinds of movies and series in the thriller genre, as users enjoy following nail-biting events full of thrills and suspense while waiting for mind-blowing revelations. Some of the most popular projects are the live-action adaptations of thriller king Harlan Coben, including the release earlier this year of Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan and Richard Armitage.
But as the number of thrillers on Netflix has grown over the past few years, it's become increasingly difficult to find a series that doesn't follow typical tropes and clichés and offers something truly original.

Following a limited theatrical release, director Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire (read our review Here) was released through the Netflix streaming service back in December. But he doesn’t intend to wrap this franchise up as a trilogy. In the end, he thinks there could be a total of 4 to 6 Rebel Moon movies!

It’s always fun to discuss horror novels that Aren’T Stephen King. No knock on the monster from Maine, he’s the master of horror novels over the last, oh I don’t know, 50 years, for a reason but its nice to not have the show be solely dedicated to his adapted works. He says knowing that he makes the schedule and decides what books to cover. See you in May, Mr. King! Funnily enough, the man actually loved today’s subject to the degree that he called it one of 2006’s best horror novels, but more on that in a little bit. The Ruins (watch it Here) was one of those hot properties by an author whose previous work was an instant success with critics, fans, and studio executives that put it to celluloid. George MacKay became one Hollywood’s most sought after young actors after his starring role as a sweet-faced solider in Sam Mendes’ Oscar-winning “1917.”
But he’s looking much different in his latest film, “Femme.” He stars in the queer revenge thriller from directors Sam H. Freeman and Ng Choon Ping as a closeted street thug who begins a sexual relationship with Jules (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett), a man he doesn’t realize is the drag queen he once brutally gay-bashed.
For the film, MacKay’s body is ripped and covered in tattoos. His hair is shaved and slicked back. He wears tracksuits and garish gold chains and rings, and his working class accent can be hard to decipher.
It took him about eight weeks of “bulking” to get in shape. Even so, MacKay admits he did a lot of push-ups for scenes where he had to be particularly “big and scary.

Robert and Michelle King's "Evil" is one of the best shows of the streaming era, and one of the best horror TV shows of all time, period (as determined by us). The tale of a team of researchers working for the Catholic Church to investigate supernatural events is a bit like "Law & Order" meets "Hannibal," but with the world-building and expansive story involving demonic conspiracies of the underrated "The Exorcist" TV show. After three wonderful, scary, funny seasons, "Evil" is coming to an end with its fourth and final season, which premieres May 23, 2024, on Paramount+.
The third season of "Evil" ended with the big reveal of Kristen discovering her missing egg (a lingering mystery from all the way back in season 1) has been fertilized ... with Leland's child. When it comes to psychological horror films, few have achieved the chilling impact and critical acclaim of Anthony Hopkins‘ The Silence of the Lambs. With its gripping narrative and spine-tingling atmosphere, the film has rightfully earned its place among the greatest in cinematic history, earning five Oscars and widespread acclaim.

The Enterprise-c has returned! Again!
According to a Variety report about the future of the Star Trek franchise, the upcoming Section 31 movie will feature Kacey Rohl as a “young” Rachel Garrett, presumably before she became the captain of the Enterprise-c. It’s a surprising but exciting turn of events, to be sure, since Garrett has only appeared in a single episode of Star Trek, leaving much of her history yet to be explored. In fact, digging into more of Garrett’s story would be a way to unlock a piece of Star Trek captain lore that’s long been missing despite the Enterprise-c’s introduction over 30 years ago.
Fans first met an older Garrett (Tricia O’Neil) and the Enterprise-c in the season three Star Trek: The Next Generation episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise.” When that episode aired in February 1990, the arrival of the Enterprise-c addressed a question that had lingered since...

Star Trek: Section 31 recently wrapped production, and Variety has the first look at Michelle Yeoh as Philippa Georgiou in the upcoming Paramount+ movie. The sprawling cover story (which is well worth a read) also spills on the surprising return of a character who hasn’t been seen in over thirty years.
The Star Trek: Section 31 first look features Michelle Yeoh as the morally dubious Georgiou having a word with someone with a few cybernetic enhancements. The last we saw of the character was on Star Trek: Discovery when she stepped through a portal to somewhere in the past. The exact timeframe remains unknown, but thanks to the addition of one particular Star Trek character, we may have a much better idea.

When asked about the long journey to Star Trek: Discovery‘s fifth and final season, producer Alex Kurtzman is honest but optimistic. “It’s been an incredible ride for us,” Kurtzman tells Den of Geek when we chat with him at SXSW 2024. “And yeah, it was an incredibly bumpy first year.”
Kurtzman’s referring to the behind-the-scenes difficulties that plagued the show’s first two seasons. Initially developed by Bryan Fuller, who wrote for Deep Space Nine and Voyager before going on to make fan-favorite shows such as Hannibal and American Gods, Discovery ultimately premiered with Gretchen J. Steven Lightfoot Developing ‘Scot Harvath’ Books For Sony Pictures Television Under New Overall Deal
Exclusive: Steven Lightfoot has been tapped to develop a series adaptation of the Scot Harvath books from New York Times bestseller Brad Thor, under a relatively fresh overall deal with Sony Pictures Television that has previously gone unreported, Deadline has learned.
We’re told that the deal for scripted drama development across cable and streaming came together last year, ahead of the WGA strike. As previously reported, Lightfoot is also currently in business with the studio as co-showrunner alongside Oren Uziel of Sony Pictures Television’s untitled Spider-Man Noir series, based on the Marvel comic, for MGM+ and Prime Video.
In addition to scripting the as-yet-untitled Scot Harvath series, Lightfoot is exec producing alongside Thor; the John Wick franchise’s Chad Stahelski and his colleagues Alex Young and Jason Spitz at 87Eleven Entertainment; Shaun Redick & Yvette Yates Redick of Impossible Dream Entertainment; Scott Cross & Sean Cross of Cross Pictures,...

In The Late Great, Primetimer staffers and contributors revisit shows that were cut short, but still cast a long shadow over the TV landscape.
Twenty years ago, a short-lived series from Todd Holland and Bryan Fuller (purveyor of cult hits Pushing Daisies and Hannibal) made its debut on Fox: Wonderfalls.
The quirky hour-long show was unlike anything that was airing on television at the time. Network lineups in 2004 tended to be primarily made up of procedurals, sitcoms, teen soaps, and unscripted programming. A whimsical dramedy about an Ivy League graduate who starts receiving guidance from inanimate toy animals in order to dole out random good deeds may have been considered a little too left of center.

You didn’t really think Halloween Ends would be the end of the Halloween franchise, did you? That movie may have brought an end to one version of Michael Myers, but the filmmakers can always go back to an earlier iteration – or create a whole new one. Last October, we learned that Halloween will continue with a TV series that Miramax is developing with the company they share the rights to the franchise with, Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films. Now Miramax’s Marc Helwig has given Deadline an update on the project, revealing that it’s a “creative reset” that takes the franchise back to the original film, John Carpenter’s 1978 classic.
Helwig said the Halloween TV series is “on a fast track, it’s a big priority for us. We’ve had lots of exciting conversations in recent months with a number of really talented people, and I...

Exclusive: Sony has preemptively closed a deal for film rights to Grady Hendrix’s short story “Ankle Snatcher,” tapping Hendrix to adapt it for the screen, sources tell Deadline. Hendrix is also set to produce alongside Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Tony Shaw, as well as Aperture Entertainment’s Adam Goldworm.
The first short story Hendrix has taken to market, after setting up numerous novels and original screenplays for adaptation, “Ankle Snatcher” was released in September 2023 as part of Amazon Original Stories’ Creature Feature collection comprised of six original stories written by New York Times bestselling authors, the others being Joe Hill, Josh Malerman, Paul Tremblay, Jason Mott, and Chandler Baker.
Hendrix’s story follows Marcus, who grew up believing his father killed his mother — then blamed it on the boogeyman under the bed. Always leave the lights on, his father warned, or the boogeyman will get you.

Remember that time Rob Zombie, The Weinstein Company, and Dimension Films got hopped up enough to make some bad decisions together and decided “Hey, you know Michael Myers? The character whose mystique is in large part because we don’t know where, how, or why his evil exists? We should make a film explaining that it’s all because his family sucked and his house smelled like old bologna!” I’m paraphrasing a little. Well, just a few months beforehand the same choice, to explain and demystify the background of one of horror’s most mysterious monsters was made for Hannibal Lecter as well. We’ve spent February discussing Albert Lewin’s 1945 adaptation of The Portrait of Dorian Gray (listen), the perfectly serviceable remake of Friday the 13th (listen), and Pedro Almodóvar’s controversial 2011 thriller The Skin I Live In (listen). Now we’re wrapping up the month with Neil Jordan’s wacky May/December stalker film, Greta (2018).
In the film, Chloë Grace Moretz plays Frances, a new to New York girl who befriends an older woman, Greta (Isabelle Huppert) after returning her lost purse. While the pair strike up an unlikely friendship, Frances’ roommate Erica (Maika Monroe) finds the relationship unusual.
What Frances doesn’t know is that Greta is more than a sad, lonely old woman. She’s got secrets in a trunk, a syringe full of sedatives, and a penchant for burying her secrets, including private investigator Stephen Rea, in the basement.
Will Frances wind up like all of Greta’s other girls?...

Nearly a year ago, Dreamworks Animation released Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. The sequel to the somewhat successful mostly forgotten movie Puss In Boots. ‘Puss In Boots: The Last Wish’, also known as just Puss In Boots 2, follows Puss as he reaches the last of his nine lives. When gaining knowledge about a wishing star, he goes on an ambitious quest to find the star and wish for more lives. Encountering friends and foes along the way.
Upon its release, existing as a sequel to a spinoff of a popular franchise, the public’s expectations of Puss In Boots: The Last Wish weren’t high at all. When the film was released in America on the eleventh of December, 2022 (then elsewhere in other countries and territories), it surprisingly came with positive reviews. Surprising audiences away with its rich storytelling, great characters, and quite shockingly dark moments, Puss In Boots...

True Detective has to be one of the most brilliant anthology mystery thriller shows ever made. Originally created by Nic Pizzolatto, the HBO series told a dark and haunting tale through the brilliant performances by Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in its first season. The quality of the series took a nosedive in its second season and the third season while better from Season 2 didn’t really match the expectation that the inaugural season of True Detective set. Now, we are in Season 4 titled Night Country and with a new creative force behind the series, the fans are getting exactly what they want. So, if you have already finished the much awaited Season 4 of True Detective and are hoping for a renewal, here are some similar shows you could watch while waiting for the new season.

As attention turns to the Oscars around this time every year, it’s easy to get caught up remembering some of the big winners. One of the most notable champs was The Silence of the Lambs, which took home the “Big Five” awards in 1992: Best Picture, Best Actor (Anthony Hopkins), Best Actress (Jodie Foster), Best Director (Jonathan Demme), and Best Adapted Screenplay (Ted Tally), as well as Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing to round it out.
And despite owning the film rights to works of author Thomas Harris, super-producer Dino De Laurentiis saw none of that windfall, be it Oscar gold or box office riches. How could a savvy Hollywood player, responsible for making some of the most important movies of all time, make such a wild mistake?
It’s all Michael Mann’s fault.

After the big casting reveal of the four main protagonists in The Fantastic Four, fans next await the announcement of the villain actor, with Javier Bardem’s name thrown around recently. Interestingly, Bardem is eyed for the role of Galactus, who will be the central villain in the film, instead of Doctor Doom. However, there’s another actor whom Marvel has previously worked with and who would make the perfect cosmic villain in The Fantastic Four — Mads Mikkelsen.
No Country for Old Men star Javier Bardem is rumored to play Galactus
While Javier Bardem will make for a terrifying villain as he did in No Country for Old Men, Galactus is more of an antagonist than an outright villain, a fitting role for an actor like Mikkelsen. While Galactus is the Devourer of Worlds, he also provides the needed balance against Celestials in the universe.

"Evil," the best horror show on either traditional television or streaming, is coming to an end.
A new press release from Paramount+ lays out the details: The fourth season of the acclaimed horror procedural will premiere in May, and it will wrap up the brilliant, off-kilter, frequently alarming, darkly funny show. While the official statement doesn't come right and say the show was straight-up canceled, the fact that production will soon begin on four "bonus" episodes certainly suggests the series was given the axe, but that the network coughed up the additional cash to let showrunners Robert and Michelle King craft a proper and complete ending for their story. And considering how many loose ends were still left dangling in the breeze in that haunting season 3 finale, they'll need all the episodes they can get to wrap everything up.

Imagine a world where your most beloved television characters could run for president. Sounds like a great idea, right? Now, consider some of those characters actually being in office.
Part of what makes certain television characters so enticing is their flaws, but those flaws could translate badly in positions of power.
Some are hilariously incompetent, while others are downright dangerous and power-hungry. Either way, it's not the best mix.
While it would be hilarious to imagine some of these characters running the United States, some of our top picks are a real horror show when it comes to how they use their power and influence in their own respective universes.

Spike Lee and Denzel Washington are set to re-team for a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 crime thriller High And Low.
Denzel Washington has recently finished up work on Gladiator 2 for Ridley Scott and we know that at some point, he’s set to play Hannibal in Antoine Fuqua’s take on the mighty conqueror – you know, the elephant-riding, Rome-conquering one whose name still rings throughout history.
We don’t yet know when Hannibal will go before cameras but we do now know it won’t be Washington’s next project.
Instead, Washington will be working with another key collaborator: Spike Lee.
The duo are set to make their fifth film together according to The Hollywood Reporter. What’s more, it’s set to be a remake of an Akira Kurosawa movie.
Apple Studios and A24 have joined forces to back the project with A24 putting the film out for theatrical release.

Rebel Moon Part One: A Child of Fire (read our review Here), the first part of director Zack Snyder’s two-part sci-fi epic, has been available to watch on the Netflix streaming service for over a month, and now we’re getting ready for the April 19th release of the follow-up Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver. With its release date just two months away, Rebel Moon Part Two has received its official rating from the Motion Picture Association ratings board: PG-13 for sequences of strong violence, brief strong language and suicide. Also earning a PG-13 rating this week is the Blumhouse horror film Imaginary, which reaches theatres on March 8th. Imaginary got its PG-13 for some violent content, drug material and language.
Neither one of these ratings comes as a surprise. Many Blumhouse movies, from Insidious to Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN, and Night Swim have PG-13 ratings. As for Rebel Moon,...

For a show that only had 39 episodes over three seasons, it’s a bit shocking to hear how passionate people are about “Hannibal.” Even folks who aren’t fans of network TV commend Bryan Fuller’s reimagining of the classic serial killer character from “Silence of the Lambs.” It feels like a show that was just too far ahead of its time, and it got cancelled because of that.

Every few months, someone seems to ask either the show’s creator Bryan Fuller or series star Mads Mikkelsen what’s going on with their hoped-for revival of Hannibal. Eight years have gone by since NBC cancelled the television series, which was inspired by characters in novels by Thomas Harris, after its third season, but Fuller, Mikkelsen, and fellow star Hugh Dancy have always let it be known that they’re hoping to reunite to make a fourth season at a new home. Eight months ago, Mikkelsen said, “It’s all about finding a home for it. Of course, we’re running out of time. We can’t wait twenty years, but in the next couple of years, if somebody finds a home, I think we’re all ready to take it up again.” Now, during an interview with Business Insider, Mikkelsen has given an update, saying there’s still...
