So, we guess this makes it really official (sad face)? E! News has confirmed that nearly a year and a half after announcing their split, Will Arnett has filed for divorce from Amy Poehler. Arnett filed the papers in Los Angeles Superior Court last week, and is asking the court to award Poehler and him joint physical and legal custody of their two sons Archibald and Abel, according to documents obtained by E! News. The pair revealed that they were separating in September 2012 after nine years of marriage. The Parks and Recreation star and the Arrested Development alum have collaborated on several projects together, including Blades of Glory, Monsters vs. Aliens and Horton Hears a Who!. In 2010, Arnett made a...

It was just last week when it was announced that David Letterman was stepping down from The Late Show after 21 years; now we already have a new host (among other duties) to announce.
Stephen Colbert will not only host The Late Show but will also serve as a writer and executive producer. He was probably a top 3-5 choice of most people who care to talk about these TV news items, so I don’t expect much of an uproar. We shouldn’t expect he will bring the satire and parody that made him famous on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, it’s The Late Show after all, right?
Here’s the boring press release:

With a voice cast that only includes one actress amongst a crew of actors, the animated R-rated comedy Sausage Party was beginning to live up to its name. Kristen Wiig is the only female in a cast that also includes Seth Rogen (who co-wrote the film with This is The End co-director Evan Goldberg), James Franco, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Edward Norton and David Krumholtz. But now Deadline reports Salma Hayek is on board too. The film follows a sausage and his friends, fallen out of a shopping car, who must journey through the supermarket in order get back to their proper aisle before the big sale on the Fourth of July. This won't be Hayek's first rodeo as a voice actress since she also played a feline heroine alongside Antonio Banderas in Puss in Boots. Though Rogen and Goldberg directed their first hit comedy last year, animation is a different animal,...

With major releases like Divergent, Mr. Peabody & Sherman and 300: Rise of An Empire, the box office should see a bit of an uptick this March. Still, without anything on par with The Hunger Games, it's unlikely that March 2014 beats 2012's $943 million record.March 7The first weekend of March features a showdown between long-awaited sequel 300: Rise of an Empire and DreamWorks Animation's Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Both should open over $30 million, though it's likely that Mr. Peabody has the edge in the long run.In March 2007, 300 became a surprise box office sensation: the movie grossed over $210 million in the U.S. and turned director Zack Snyder in to one of Hollywood's hottest big-budget filmmakers. Unfortunately, the movie had a fairly definitive ending, which made it difficult to immediately crank out a sequel.Seven years later, audiences are finally getting that sequel, though box office prospects don't seem nearly as...

Last week we had the pleasure of chatting with film composer Henry Jackman, whose body of work stretches from Monsters vs. Aliens to apocalyptic comedy This is the End. More recently, the musician has completed work on upcoming Marvel movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier – and you can read what he had to say about that highly anticipated film here – but the focus of our chat was his work on Sony Pictures’ BAFTA winning / Oscar nominated Captain Phillips, for which the composer himself was BAFTA nominated.
Jackman goes into detail on why self-discipline was paramount for the project, in addition to scoring epic superhero themes and what happens to music which doesn’t make it into the film.If you haven’t already, you can click here for your chance to win a copy or click here to buy one!

Last summer, This Is The End proved that moviegoers will turn up en masse to see a lot of funny people doing crazy things on-screen, even in projects far out enough to feature cannibal gangs, demonic genitalia, high-speed rapturing and the Backstreet Boys (in under ten minutes of screen time). And so, confirmation that some members of that apoca-comedy’s principal cast, including Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jonah Hill, will be joining forces for another project shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone who took a peek at just how much their last venture picked up at the box-office.
What’s more surprising are the specifics what they’ve planned next. According to TheWrap, Rogen, Franco and Hill will topline a raunchy animated comedy called Sausage Party, alongside Kristen Wiig, Edward Norton, Michael Cera, Nick Kroll and David Krumholtz.

Update: The Nut Job is a Huge success, making more money in its opening weekend than any other indie animated film. So, of course, the companies behind the nutty film will make a sequel! Nothing else is secured, like if director Peter Lepeniotis or any of the stars will be back. When a movie is expected to be a success, usually they have the stars sign a contract promising to come back but with a small film made out of South Korea, I feel pretty certain they did Not make a deal for future films with the film's key voices, Katherine Heigl or Will Arnett.
April 11, 2013 - The Nut Job isn't looking so squirrley anymore. Open Road Films, the folks behind The Host, has picked up the 3D animated film about a squirrel and a rat who plan to steal the nuts from a nut store. It will be in theaters Jan.

After picking up the rights way back in 2011, DreamWorks Animation is finally moving forward with a feature adaptation of Dav Pilkey’s children’s book series Captain Underpants. An initial voice-cast for the project was announced on Tuesday, with many talented comedians in the line-up.
Popular stand-up comic Kevin Hart and up-and-comer Thomas Middleditch (HBO’s upcoming Silicon Valley) will lend their voices to the lead roles of George and Harold, two fourth graders who hypnotize their mean school principal into becoming a selfless superhero named Captain Underpants. Back in 2011, we learned that DreamWorks Animation would bring the popular children's book series Captain Underpants to life on the big screen with Monsters vs. Aliens director Rob Letterman at the helm. Over two years later, we finally have a voice cast assembled for the project. For those who don't know, the film follows a couple of precocious fourth graders named George Beard and Harold Hutchins. Looking to get back at nasty, student-hating principal Mr. Benny Krupp, the boys hypnotize the principal and turn him into Captain Underpants. Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch play the kids, but what about our hero? Ed Helms will be the principal turned undergarment-clad hero, while comedian Nick Kroll will voice the villain, Professor Poopypants. And finally, Jordan Peele (of Comedy Centrals "Key & Peele" will voice a nerdy tattletale named Melvin Sneedly. Not only does he play Surly in The Nut Job, Arnett has also voiced:

Forget your Captain America, your Iron Man, and even (whisper it) your Loki. If DreamWorks Animation has its way, every kid will want to dress up as Captain Underpants. Because… the costume is easier? In any case, the ‘toon studio has recruited a cast to voice the leads, with Ed Helms, Kevin Hart, Nick Kroll, Jordan Peele and Thomas Middleditch all headed for microphones.Word first arrived back in October of 2011 that the studio and Monsters Vs. Aliens director Rob Letterman had finally managed to crack through the rights-protective attitude of creator Dav Pilkey, who opened up the option to his book series – published since 1997 – to an auction. The books revolve around primary school kids Harold Hutchins (Middleditch) and George Beard (Hart), whose hobby is writing and drawing the adventures of their invented superman. Their headmaster Benny Krupp (Helms) hates children, and runs a fascist regime at the boys' elementary school,...

With its based-on-the-director’s-life pedigree and stars Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana, "Infinitely Polar Bear"—horrible title aside—sounds like many Sundance films past and present: a family struggles with mental illness, trying to keep one person whole while also keeping—or failing to keep—the family together. And after writing such good-to-indifferent big Hollywood product like "The Rocker," "Monsters vs. Aliens" and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days," you can hardly fault writer-director Maya Forbes for trying to create something a little more substantive and a little less glib. And yet, even based on her experiences, "Infinitely Polar Bear" is so phony that you can imagine the production budget being made up of three-dollar bills; it treats severe mental illness as a series of quirky, fun-sy tics; the circumstances of its characters are tortuously contrived; and every child character seems not like a real, living child but rather...

One of the dominant forces in North American animation over the past decade has been Dreamworks Studios, with a filmography that includes movies such as Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and Monsters Vs. Aliens. The animation studio scored another hit in 2010 with How To Train Your Dragon, putting into motion another franchise, as they had done with numerous other properties. With a television show already underway, fans of the first film were excited to learn that a sequel was already being developed. Titled How To Train Your Dragon 2, the movie sees Dean DeBlois take on sole screenwriting duties this time around, as well as directing, with Cate Blanchett and Djimon Hounsou joining the returning voice cast that includes Jay Baruchel, Kristen Wiig, and Craig Ferguson. A new trailer for the film has now been released, and can be seen below.
