Laine plans to steal from the gang of thieves before they discover her true identity. The film co-stars Jim Beaver (“Deadwood”), Izabella Miko (“Coyote Ugly”), Jamie Harris (“Knight of Cups”), Aj Bowen (“The Sacrament”), and Liam Aiken (“Ned Rifle”). With a firm grip on Netflix and ABC, Marvel is now taking their television imprint to FX with "Legion." The project was first announced last fall, with "Fargo" creator Noah Hawley writing and executive producing the series. Now the show has landed some interesting talent for the lead cast. Dan Stevens ("Downton Abbey," "The Guest"), Aubrey Plaza ("Parks & Recreation"), Jean Smart, and Rachel Keller will star in the show that is only described as "the story of a troubled young man." Aren't they all in these comics based shows? Here are the character breakdowns: Read More: Aubrey Plaza Is Capable Of Anything In This Exclusive Clip From Hal Hartley's 'Ned Rifle' David (Dan Stevens) - Diagnosed as schizophrenic at a young age, David is a haunted man, trying to find his way back to sanity, but he's getting tired and is about to give up when he...

Earlier this month, Zac Efron and Adam DeVine landed quite the spectacular companion for their forthcoming comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates set up at 20th Century Fox. Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick took the role of one of the wedding dates that the titular dudes find after placing an ad online. But since there's two hard-partying, immature brothers in the title, they need two dates. And today, Variety brings word on that second date with "Parks & Recreation" star Aubrey Plaza playing one of the two women who Mike and Dave surprisingly find out might get wilder and crazier than they do. Read on! Plaza has started to be more prominent in films recently with roles in Life After Beth, The To-Do List and Ned Rifle, but the big screen projects she takes on are starting to give her some bigger roles. In fact, Mike and Dave Need Wedding...

The Fast and Furious franchise continued to prove its commercial success this weekend, as the latest installment, titled Furious 7, won the weekend box office in its debut. The film, which saw James Wan take over directorial duties from Justin Lin, earned $143.6 million over the weekend, making it the first film of 2015 to have an opening weekend gross of greater than $100 million, and the biggest opening of the year so far, handily beating out previous top spot holder 50 Shades of Grey. The gross also puts Furious 7 as the fourth-highest grossing film of the year already, ahead of Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Furious 7‘s opening left the rest of the box office in its wake, as last week’s winner Home earned $27.4 million this weekend, which was good enough to land it in second place. The Will Ferrell-Kevin Hart comedy Get Hard rounded out the top three with $12.9 million,...

Hal Hartley's trilogy is finally complete with the release of Ned Rifle. Ned Rifle continues the story of an immensely dysfunctional family, Ned (played by Liam Aiken), the son has turned eighteen and is out of witness protection and has revenge on the brain. His goal? To find his father, Henry (played by Thomas Jay Ryan), and kill him. Cinelinx had the chance to discuss the film with Hal Hartley and one of the film's stars, Aubrey Plaza.
The trilogy began with just the addition of the sequel, Hartley wanted to work with Parker Posey again after the first film and while bouncing off a bunch of scripts they just decided to make a film based on her character. "I knew though, I had to make it a trilogy though once I made the sequel," said Hartley and he did just that.

Kelly and Aaron both had the chance to go to SXSW this year and cover it for Cinelinx, here's their top movie recommendations that they had the chance to see and you need to see once they're released.
Kelly's SXSW Top 3
1. The Final Girls
This film took me by surprise, in all honestly I was debating on not going but decided last minute to see it and I am glad I did. I was expecting it to be it a little entertaining because it does have an all star comedy cast including Adam Devine and Thomas Middleditch but i was blown away. With hilarious diagloue and a great meta storyline about modern day teens getting stuck in a 1980's sleep away camp horror, be sure to keep this one on your radar for it's release date. It's one of the most original movie concepts I have seen in a long time,...

It seems as if the 2014 Toronto Film Festival lineup is more or less set. I'm not expecting any major additions after today's announcement and have taken another look at my current list of most likely films I'll be screening while in town, though this is largely based on title and director alone as I have yet to really dig into the titles unfamiliar to me so it's possible a few may find their way into the mix once all is said and done. That said, if you think there are some I'm missing please let me know... don't want to overlook anything. Note, I will be in Toronto from September 3-10 and expect I'll see about 18 movies maximum while I'm there. Right now the full list below is 48 movies not including the four I've already seen (but have yet to review) and the one I don't think I'll even have a chance to see.

I fully expect Xavier Dolan's Mommy to be announced on August 6th so you can go ahead and add that one to my "Must Sees" list below, but as of right now my list of films I consider absolute "musts" sits at 17 movies with another nine I'll make top priority after I schedule those and then another nine that will be dependent on my screening schedule because conflicts due arise meaning any of these may be on or off the table... schedule depending. I'm going to be in Toronto from September 3-10, which means six full screening days, which means seeing 18 films will be pushing it, which also means I'm going to miss a lot of movies I would really like to see... Hell, it might even end up being worth it to skip films with already established release dates -- Foxcatcher, The Judge, Wild, The Drop, Mr. Turner,...

Aubrey Plaza comes back from the dead in a newly-released scene from the comedy Life After Beth.
Director Jeff Baena's movie centres on teenager Zach, whose world is turned upside down when he discovers that his girlfriend (Plaza) has come back from the dead.
Parks and Recreation star Aubrey Plaza joins Hal Hartley's Ned Rifle
The new clip sees Zach confronting Beth's parents (Molly Shannon, John C Reilly) about his theory that his girlfriend was never actually dead in the first place.
His worst fears are ultimately realised when Beth develops a desire to eat other humans.
The movie - which also stars Anna Kendrick, Alia Shawkat and Matthew Gray Gubler - had its premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival.
Life After Beth opens on August 15 in the Us and on October 3 in the UK. Watch a trailer below:...

"Magic in the Moonlight" isn't in theaters just yet, but Woody Allen is already hard at work on his next film, and Parker Posey and Jamie Blackley are the latest performers to join his ever-growing cast of characters. The duo will join Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone in the next "Untitled Woody Allen Project," which is currently shooting in Rhode Island. The film's plot is a mystery for now. As per usual, Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum will produce the film, which will likely be seen sometime in 2015, although no distributor is yet on board. The prolific Posey is perhaps best known for her roles in Christopher Guest's mockumentaries, including "Waiting For Guffman" and "Best in Show." She'll soon be seen in "Ned Rifle," directed by frequent collaborator Hal Hartley. She also appears in the much-maligned "Grace of Monaco," which has yet to be released in the U.S.

The Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff) has fired its awards season opening salvo, announcing a slew of world premieres for the September edition, which will close with Alan Rickman’s A Little Chaos.Scroll down for full list
Not to be outdone by the New York Film Festival, which has staked a claim to the world premieres of Gone Girl and Inherent Vice, and Venice, which will open with Birdman, artistic director Cameron Bailey and his team announced on Tuesday (22) close to 50 galas and special presentations.
Two factors are certain to ratchet up the sense of anticipation heading into September. Most of these titles are without Us distribution and that said, it remains to be seen which films will qualify for a coveted first-weekend slot.
Tiff top brass made it clear earlier this year that any title that sneaks into Telluride will be forced to screen after the first four days of the festival. Tiff runs from...

This morning the first wave of the 2014 Toronto Film Festival lineup was announced and so far it's an impressive list of films including films from Noah Baumbach, Mike Leigh, David Gordon Green, Jason Reitman, Bennett Miller, David Cronenberg, Antoine Fuqua, Edward Zwick, Mikael Roskam, David Dobkin and many others. One surprising detail is there was no announcement of an opening film so along with everything below there is still at least one biggie on the way, and while they say it has nothing to do with their "premiere" mandate, I wouldn't be surprised if it might be Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's Birdman and they're waiting to see if it will be the North American premiere. Then again, could Birdman open both Toronto and Venicec But what else could it bec Maybe David Ayer's Furyc No chance for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar... or is therec Probably the films announced so far...

1. Ted Hope: In honor of Thanksgiving, film producer Ted Hope, who is stepping down as executive director of San Francisco at the end of this year, looks back at the year in independent film and lists the many reasons we should be thankful, including the fact that 2013 was the year that crowdfunding went mainstream, direct distribution is a feasible option and more. Read his reasons to be optimistic here. 2. Kickstarter Rules: It sounded like a good idea at the time… Looking to raise funds for his latest project, "Ned Rifle," Hal Hartley offered up distribution rights as a way around the crowdfunding rules which prohibit offering equity. But soon after he announced the new rewards, Kickstarter notified Hartley that the offer was outside of their rewards guidelines as a form of investment, so the distribution reward had to be eliminated as an option. Read the full story here. 3. Grand...

Please see important update at the bottom of this post. Plenty of tech vendors use Kickstarter as a pre-sale market, so why not filmmakers? In a letter to backers of his film Ned Rifle — reprinted here with permission — director Hal Hartley announces the inclusion of territorial theatrical rights as Kickstarter rewards. Pledge $3,000 and take Hungary. $5,000 gets you Finland. And a cool $9,000 gets you Spanish-speaking Latin America. Of course, these numbers are for theatrical only. Hartley is retaining home video and electronic distribution. But, as he notes in his letter, the asking prices are low, enabling […]...
