It's a bit of a mess! Nattie Neidhart is fed up with her parents. The WWE superstar did a good deed by buying her parents a brand new home, but she might be regretting that decision because of their recent behavior. "My dad has a walkie talkie, he's on the community golf cart and he's sitting with this German shepherd dog—It's just bizarre," Nattie shared. "I had a glass of wine and decided to buy my parents a house—why did I do that?" While Nattie has explained her frustrations to her parents, they don't seem to care. "From the sink getting clogged from my dad pouring bacon grease down it and my mom leaving food for alligators at her front...

The Cutler crew has expanded!
Kristin Cavallari introduced fans to the newest member of her family on Wednesday: an adorable dark-haired pup!
The Hills alum took to Instagram to share a photo of the canine with its tongue out and sitting beside its brother, Bane, who holds a red ball in his mouth.
“Added another living thing to the Cutler crew because yes, we have lost our minds. #TrainedKiller #DontMessWithThisCrew,” Cavallari, 30, captioned a photo of the two dogs — they both appear to be a part of the German Shepherd family — sitting side-by-side on the grass.

That’s one lucky dog.
Ben Affleck was photographed in L.A. last Thursday with a new pup, carefully carrying the pooch to a car in photos obtained by ETOnline.
According to a friend of the actor, “He came across a stray dog over a month ago and has since adopted it.” The actor’s four-legged friend appears to be mostly husky, though the friend says, “he’s partially a German shepherd.” No word on a name.

After a life of service to Connecticut’s Middletown Police Department and his family, Hunter the German Shepherd said a final farewell to all of his friends.
“Officer Michael D’Aresta unfortunately has to make the toughest decision any K9 handler dreads,” the police department posted on its Facebook page about the decision to put Hunter down. “K9 Hunter has been ill for that past several days and when tests were conducted they revealed that K9 Hunter has a very aggressive form of liver cancer. They unfortunately recommended that he be euthanized.”
The 10-year-old dog was put to sleep on Friday.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that not only are cats better than dogs, but cat films are better than dog films. Proof of this arrives on Friday with the release of Kedi, an Istanbul-set documentary by the first-time feature director Ceyda Torun. Kedi is named after one of several characterful cats whose daily lives feature in the film. The stories of these cats are fondly and reverently told by human acolytes, and the film is full of the kind of strange, profound moments of wisdom that only occur when staring into an animal’s inscrutable, calm eyes.

Kate Mara stars as Megan Leavey in Gabriella Copperthwaite’s Megan Leavey, a Bleecker Street release.
Megan Leavey is a true story-based drama about young woman whose close bond with a dog changes both of their lives. Although the young woman is a Marine serving in Iraq and the dog is her bomb-sniffing teammate, this really is a touching dog story rather than a war story.
Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s moving but flawed film is based on the true story of Iraq war veteran Megan Leavey and the German Shepherd explosives-detection dog Rex with which she worked. If you are a soft touch for true-story dog tales, this one’s got your number. Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite has previous experience telling a compelling animal story, as the director of Black Fish, the award-winning documentary about captive orcas.

Confession: I'm a dog lover. So take this praise with a grain of salt if you must – but Megan Leavey had me at first bark. Based on a true story (no, really!), this war drama deftly sidesteps the paths that suck you down in sentimental quicksand. Oh, you'll cry all right. But the movie earns your tears.
Kate Mara is raw and riveting in the title role, a marine who ends up in combat in Iraq with Rex, a bomb-sniffing German shepherd in the Military Police K9 unit. Nobody likes Rex.

A true story so pure that it almost grants its teller the permission to be sloppy, Gabriela Cowperthwaite’s “Megan Leavey” is a bit of a mess from the moment it starts, but it’s hard to completely dismiss any movie with a soul this strong, just as it would be hard to dismiss a disobedient puppy so long as its tail keeps wagging. An unlikely mutt that crossbreeds the cuteness of “Must Love Dogs” with the suspense of “The Hurt Locker,” “Megan Leavey” is the kind of movie that writes itself, and often feels as though it has.
Based on the very real, very believable bond between a young marine corporal and the volatile German Shepherd with whom she partners during her tours of duty in Iraq, this broadly engaging drama is gripping when it deals with the details of being a woman on the front lines, and it...

Near the beginning of Megan Leavey, an affectingly unvarnished redemption story, the listless title character is fired from a dead-end job with the words, "You don't really connect with people very well." You could say the same of the obstinate German shepherd with whom she'll eventually forge a deep bond, first in their Marine training and then on the frontlines in Iraq. Beyond the countless lives they save, Megan and Rex save each other.

Fox 61 was there for 14-year-old Reign’s final ride in a police cruiser before the German shepherd was put to sleep on Wednesday evening.
Watch the video in which Detective Rosario Savastra, one half of the partnership of “Rosie & Reign,” drove his beloved K9 partner — who served the West Hartford Police Department for six years before retiring in 2012 — past two dozen saluting police personnel.

Home: Some pets never have one to call their own. We’d like to help change that by introducing you to an adoptable pet every week. Today, meet Clara, a pooch currently available through the Pick Your Paw animal rescue in Shrewsbury, New Jersey.
She’s a combination of breeds — German shepherd/Australian shepherd/Boxer mix — but Clara is 100 percent cute! This pretty 7-month-old girl is already fully house/crate-trained, and knows lots of basics commands like “sit,” “come,” “stay,” and “give.”

While we don’t yet know who received the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, we have learned who got the Palm Dog, the award for a distinguished pup in a movie: A good boy named Bruno, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bruno is one of the stars of Noah Baumbach’s The Meyerowitz Stories, alongside Ben Stiller, an actually impressive Adam Sandler, and Dustin Hoffman. He is also a poodle, whose work, according to jury president and Guardian film critic Peter Bradshaw, “symbolizes the brutal submission to Republican domestic policy,” per THR. The Meyerowitz Stories’ inclusion in competition was controversial because it’s being released by Netflix, but clearly a good dog is a good dog regardless of distribution platform.
Meanwhile, Lupo, a German Shepherd, took home the Grand Jury prize for his work in Ava, and Robert Pattinson, though not a dog, got a “special mention...

Bruno has taken Cannes' most pawstegious prize, the coveted Palm Dog.
The standard poodle was lauded for his work in Noah Baumbach's The Meyerowitz Stories, a pawsitively stunning turn as Dustin Hoffman’s emotionally neglected pooch.
Jury member and Guardian film critic Peter Bradshaw said Bruno’s intense pawformance represents “what some would say symbolizes the brutal submission to Republican domestic policy.” Bruno had long been the frontrunner for the role.
The Grand Jury prize went to Lupo, a German shepherd who made his star turn in the critics' week entry Ava. The film tells the coming-of-age tail of two teens and...

Like many rescue dogs, Gus has a mysterious past.
What sets him apart is that his past came with 45 pounds of extra weight. The mixed breed dog arrived at Kanab, Utah’s Best Friends Animal Society, the nation’s largest no-kill shelter, in July of 2016 from a rescue in Arizona.
The original shelter that took in Gus, who has been described as part beagle, part German shepherd and part “who knows,” found him well-fed but with a host of health problems.

In case you missed it, Jake Owen brought home a new German shepherd pup recently — and he is quite the looker.
Axel — who earned his moniker from Owen’s daughter Pearl, 4 — was just 3 months old when the country singer adopted him, and is fitting into the family (which also includes 6-year-old bulldog Merle) nicely, earning a starring role on Owen’s Instagram account with sweet snapshots and funny videos of him attacking doorstops.
“My daughter loves him,” Owen told People over the weekend at the iHeartCountry Festival in Austin. “She loves to play with him.”

Lasse Hallström’s canine tale is steeped in sentimentality, heavy with nostalgia and full of furry charm – but ultimately banal
“What is the meaning of life? Are we here for a reason?” asks the protagonist pup in the unironically titled A Dog’s Purpose. Dog lover and director Lasse Hallström, who also made My Life As a Dog and Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, follows one canine (voiced by Josh Gad) through its various reincarnations (deaths notwithstanding) and respective owners: a German shepherd police dog, an endearingly sluggish corgi and, in its most adorable iteration, a ginger-eyelashed red retriever named Bailey. Said retriever lands in the scrawny arms of eight-year-old only child Ethan (Bryce Gheisar), the canine companion a welcome distraction from his alcoholic father (Luke Kirby). Teen Ethan and his girlfriend are played by Netflix TV stars Kj Apa (Riverdale’s Archie) and Britt Robertson (Girlboss’s Sophia) respectively,...

Lasse Hallström’s tale of a dog that keeps getting reincarnated is cutesy, creepy and icily manipulative
There are a couple of worrying moments in this sentimental film when a grown man appears to be leaning in to snog a dog. A guy is apparently on the verge of sucking face with a dog. It really does look as if a full-on, with-tongues game of interspecies tonsil hockey with a dog is on the cards. This is a fantasy canino-mance, based on the 2010 bestseller by W Bruce Cameron, and the dog itself keeps getting reincarnated: adorably, heartrendingly, karmically coming back as different dogs in different story segments – retriever, corgi, German shepherd etc – but always with the same cutesy off-camera voice provided by Josh Gad and the decreasingly endearing anthropomorphic gags as he understands utterly what’s going on, but with various canine-naïf exceptions on the subject of the owner’s sex life,...

Kennedy Sartwell and Jake Terry of Warrensburg, Missouri, are geniuses.
The couple recently adopted a precious puppy named Raven and are understandably excited about the new arrival. Instead of posting about the baby dog on Facebook or sending photos to a group chat, the pet parents decided to do something bigger to announce Raven to the world.
Sartwell and Terry, who have been together 5 years, recruited a professional photographer, Kennedy’s mother, Cristy Sartwell of Infinite Smile Photography, to shoot a sex reveal photo series.
Like many sex reveal shoots, this one started with a happy couple and a closed box filled with balloons.

The human-canine bond is a special one. For many, dogs are considered a loyal companion and friend, one that remains by your side for the duration of their natural-born lives. It’s a cross-species relationship that has been explored on the silver screen ten times over, often resulting in tear-jerking moments of drama in the likes of Marley & Me and, to a lesser extent, Will Smith’s apocalyptic vehicle I Am Legend.
One filmmaker that is ready to cast light on that human-canine bond is Gabriela Cowperthwaite (Blackfish), who’s at the helm of true-life drama Megan Leavey. Pegged for a release in June, the wartime pic places Kate Mara (House of Cards, Fantastic Four) in the boots of the titular marine corporal, who’s assigned to the military’s K9 unit. While there, Mara’s lead becomes drawn to Rex, an overly aggressive German Shepherd able to sniff out an Ied with remarkable accuracy.
