Freya Allen feels empathy for the uncomfortable place Liam Hemsworth is in as he takes over the lead role in The Witcher.
Hemsworth was named as the replacement for Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia on The Witcher in October 2022, and there still is some grumbling among the hardcore fans. Cavill’s leave has been murky, with creative differences frequently cited as the reason behind the recasting.
In an interview with Collider, costar Allen, voices her hopes that fans will cut him a break.
“I don’t want to speak for him, but from what I’ve understood, I feel like he’s really wanting to try and bring the heart,” Allen said. “He’s been training. I feel sorry for him, honestly, because, number one, that fan base can be very attack-y, and it’s not an ideal situation to...

Fans of the Netflix fantasy series The Witcher should be filled with glee right now. After all, the world's biggest streaming service has axed a lot of fantasy shows in the last few years, including well-received ones like Shadow & Bone and Warrior Nun.
But The Witcher proved too popular to purge, due in part to the massive star appeal of Henry Cavill as the lead character, monster hunter Geralt of Rivia. And while fans of other fantasy shows are mourning their cancellations, The Witcher has been confirmed for two more seasons.
But its fans are more nervous than excited.
Cavill Out, Hemsworth In
In spite of his leading-man Hollywood cred, Henry Cavill is a self-proclaimed fantasy nerd. He campaigned hard for the role of Geralt and was open about his passion for the story. But creative differences soon caused friction on set, especially as the storyline of The Witcher...

With two episodes still to go, X-Men ’97 has proven to be one of the best entries from Marvel in recent years, mostly thanks to former showrunner Beau DeMayo’s passion for the material. DeMayo, who was abruptly fired from the show prior to its premiere, has been pretty transparent with the fans about his thought process behind this revival of X-Men: The Animated Series.
Taking to his X account, the writer shared a new clip for the series ahead of Episode 9’s release, as DeMayo made his intentions clear about respecting the source material without pushing his vision too far.

There are still many who have not been able to get over the fact that Henry Cavill will no longer be returning to the Dcu as Superman, despite his promising cameo in Black Adam. This is mostly because people truly enjoyed seeing the actor get in character, put on his cape, and come to the aid of those in need, just like a perfect superhero. Many would even agree that Henry Cavill is the embodiment of Superman.
Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel (2013)
Zack Snyder is also of the same opinion as before the release of Man of Steel, he explained how his lead actor was “Superman-ish” in the best way possible. According to the director, Henry Cavill is kind of like Superman in the sense that he’s kind, humble, and naïve, all while asserting just the right amount of dominance needed to let people know to not walk all over you.

Following the comic’s nature, the animated film earned an R-rating upon its release, as Timm wanted to stay truthful to the source material, and Tkj became the first rated R DC Universe Original Animated release.

When it comes to iconic superhero costumes, fans can be very passionate about any changes or updates that are made to their favorite characters’ looks. Recently, James Gunn’s Superman (formerly known as Superman Legacy) officially debuted its official David Corenswet Superman suit early on Monday afternoon.
Taking on Threads, Gunn shared the first look of Superman, who can be seen pulling on his boots while sitting in a chair. It is a rather strange look, though. Moreover, it has been noted that the suit appears a little baggy on Corenswet (especially on shoulders) and does not exactly appear to be the ‘muscle clinging’ type from this perspective. But one thing is sure: We have not seen this kind of linework on other suits before.

Grossing over $2 billion worldwide since its inception in 1968, the Planet of the Apes franchise has turned out to be one of the most successful ones in Hollywood. Based on French author Pierre Boulle’s 1963 novel La Planète des singes, the title has released a total of nine movies, expanding its lore, with a tenth one, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes starring The Witcher actress Freya Allan in a leading role and set some 300 years after the events of the last outing.
A rough outline of all the movies involves humans, intelligent apes, and some sort of conflict. However, the dystopian setting where mankind comes down on its knees to face a brutal twist of fate sets the narrative in different orders for the different iterations. Someone who has just embarked on watching, or one who wishes to refresh their memory of the events of the films, need not watch all nine of them.

History stands as a testament that reboots, spin-offs, or adaptations fail the moment makers decide to give their own twist to the mythos. From The Witcher to Eragon, there have been several series and movies that ended up being ridiculed and sneered by fans and critics. And Amazon’s Rings of Power too can be found among such projects.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
Based on the famous J. R. R. Tolkien books, the series provided its own spin on the tale by being set thousands of years before the events in the books. Needless to say, the series was not as well received. And even Lord of the Rings star, the late Bernard Hill had some deeply insulting words to say about the series.

Some people say they prefer video games to any kind of TV show these days, and it's not hard to see why. Not only do games offer amazing stories and great graphics, but they also draw you in and make you feel like a part of the universe in which the events take place.

Five years ago, the idea of discussing the best video game adaptations ever felt like a largely joyless task. Inevitably, you would have to lower the bar to allow room for movies and shows that you would never otherwise discuss in a positive light. There were a few genuine highlights even back then, but the perception that the majority of video game adaptations were quite bad was both widespread and largely accurate.
The situation has changed in truly remarkable ways in recent years, though. We now regularly receive video game adaptations that aren’t just good according to the standards of that criteria but are rather genuinely great movies and TV shows. Suddenly, there is a genuinely complicated discussion to be had about the best video game adaptation ever.
Before we dive into that topic, though, keep in mind that we’re limiting ourselves to movies and TV shows based on video games.

It didn’t take long for Netflix’s The Witcher to become a fan-favorite TV show, especially thanks to its incredible cast and the source material. The show also resulted in a spin-off film written by Beau DeMayo titled, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The animated film revolves around Geralt’s mentor, Vesemir, and brings his origin story to the screen.

Does your Apple TV+ membership come and go with new seasons of “Ted Lasso”? [Jeff Foxworthy Voice:] Then you might be a “Show-Chaser.”
Serial churners are so 2023 — 2024 is the year of the show-chaser, according to research firm Antenna. These folks currently may be out hunting baby reindeer. In its first four days of availability, “Baby Reindeer” was viewed 2.6 million times, according to Netflix. The following week, its first full one, the limited series from (and starring) Richard Gadd exploded to 13.3 million views — more than a five-fold increase. That tally nearly doubled the next week to 22 million views.
“Baby Reindeer” is a sensation fueled by word of mouth — and by word on TikTok — the type that could singlehandedly bring Netflix some new subscribers. But these hypothetical members are not very likely to stick around; they’re show-chasers, an (at least) semi-undesirable subset of serial churners.

Thor Star Chris Hemsworth Reveals Whether He And Brother Liam Were Competing For God Of Thunder Role
When Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston were cast in Thor, they were largely dismissed as "nobodies." It seems Marvel Studios wanted unknowns, though, as we know of at least a few other names considered for the McU's God of Thunder, including Chris' brother, Liam.
He'd go on to star in The Hunger Games movies, famously dated Miley Cyrus, and is now gearing up to take over from Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in the final two seasons of The Witcher.
Chris, now a major movie star with several franchises to his name, has opened up on both his and Liam's attempts to be cast as Thor, revealing that while they both auditioned, they were never going up against each other simultaneously.
Asked if he was worried about Liam landing the role instead of him, the Avengers: Endgame star responded, "No, 'cause I was told I didn't have the part at that point,...

During the Paris Fan Festival, Taz Skylar, the actor cast to portray Sanji in Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action series, opened up about the initial wave of negative comments he faced on social media following the casting announcement.
During the festival’s Q/A session, Taz recounted his very first exposure to criticism and it was around the time when the One Piece casting news came out. He revealed that his friends informed him that his name was trending on Twitter alongside references to his resemblance to rapper Eminem.
“The best way to get me to do something is tell me I can’t do it,” Skylar stated, revealing that rather than being deterred by the negative feedback, he found motivation in the challenge. “I remember I laughed because I was like, you know what, they have a point. I do kind of look a little bit like Em,” he added.

James Gunn is debunking a conspiracy theory that alleges he already knew about Henry Cavill’s Superman re-casting while he was promoting “The Suicide Squad.” That timeline does not make sense, Gunn suggested in a post on Threads, as he was not in charge of DC Studios in 2021 when “The Suicide Squad” released. It wasn’t until Dec. 2022 that DC Studios announced Gunn and Peter Safran as its new bosses.
Some DC fans were accusing Gunn of lying about his involvement in Cavill’s Superman exit after actor Nathan Fillion was quoted telling Collider that Gunn told him at “The Suicide Squad” premiere party in 2021 that he would be cast as Guy Gardner (aka The Green Lantern) in a new Superman movie.
“We were actually at the premiere party after ‘Suicide Squad’ and he [James Gunn] was in a huge crowd of people,” Fillion was quoted saying. “We saw each other in the crowd,...

Beau DeMayo has worked with various different studios for the multiple projects the writer has been part of. Guillermo Del Toro once went on stage to demand respect for animated projects. For a long time, anything shown visually through an animated medium would automatically be assumed to be targeted towards children. Many of the best and most well-thought projects go under the radar simply because of the medium they are used in.

Misconceptions fly around just as fast as rumors do, from cartoons to anime and animated movies in general, all of these were disregarded not because their stories lacked complexity but because of the medium. DeMayo takes exactly that into consideration, shedding light to another masterpiece: Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

Beau DeMayo’s controversial firing some weeks before the premiere of X-Men ’97 was a huge point of discussion among fans. While various rumors have been circulated, the true reason is unknown. DeMayo had continued talking about the show as the episodes drop weekly and many fans are also loving the narrative he had built for the X-Men team.

Beau DeMayo served as the creator of X-Men ’97 for Marvel Studios. However, DeMayo came into the limelight for the wrong reasons when he was fired from the series shortly before its premiere in March 2024. DeMayo previously worked as a writer on Netflix’s The Witcher, where he wrote two episodes of the fantasy series.

Being the most expensive TV show ever made comes with obvious perks, but it also comes with a lot of expectations. Unfortunately, in the case of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which was released in 2022, those expectations ended up being completely dashed.
While some fans are still hoping and praying that the show will make some changes for its second season and fix all the problems with its character arcs and storytelling, others aren't so positive. Some of the Lord of the Rings fandom is even afraid that the show will be canceled after all the backlash it has received.
But don't let the panic set in just yet. While the reviews of the show speak for themselves, there are plenty of reasons for Prime Video to continue production.
Ring of Power’s Humongous Budget
It's no secret that the show's budget remains one of its most discussed aspects.

As far as superhero films are concerned, the aura of the character is not just in the powers they possess but also in their appearance. The costume, therefore, is a key component that adds to the appeal of these icons from the comic book world. From Marvel’s Spider-Man to DC’s Superman, costume designers in Hollywood have pushed the envelope to bring out the nuances of these characters.

Marvel Studio’s X-Men ’97 has been wreaking havoc across the fandom for its incredible storyline, marvellous characters, nostalgic theme, and adrenaline-packed action. Henry Cavill’s exit from the cast of The Witcher stirred up serious controversy for many different reasons. One of the biggest was due to the show’s constant disloyalty to its source material. Since the actor was a big fan of the books and the games, he couldn’t stand by and watch something he was passionate about, getting trashed.

Hayao Miyazaki’s stories have a lot of themes that one might also find in J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. There is a healthy respect for the environment and a general idea of hope in both their works. The overwhelming praise for Prime Video's Fallout has demonstrated that inspired and absurd video game shows can appeal to modern audiences.
While we're accustomed darker and more serious adaptations, Fallout proves there is room on the schedule for many thematic differences from the gaming world to move to TV. But not all attempts are equal.
Many video game adaptations come across as dark and grim as the show creators try to make their show seem edgy and aggressive, even if the game itself was not.
Sometimes, that backfires on them. But how did that become the prevailing tone in the first place?
We can look at Halo as an example. The Paramount+ series tried to bring a more serious note when all the fans really wanted to see was The Masterchief beat the covenant -- without ever seeing his face. Tying a leading man to the helmet, though, was a giveaway that change was ahead.

The Rings of Power is like a diamond that has been given to cut by not very skilled craftsmen, who have no idea of its true value.
Where the series crew fails, the fans come – Reddit users offered their own ways to improve the criticized show. It is unlikely that these tips will be seen and considered by anyone, but we can dream, right?
1. Fire the Showrunners
If you had a $1 billion project to make, would you put two rookies in charge who had never worked on anything this big? Jeffrey Bezos did just that. John D. Payne and Patrick McKay have no experience making fantasy projects or expensive TV series.
They only have one major film in their portfolio – Star Trek Beyond, which, let's face it, was not very well made and did not do very well at the box office.
So the most obvious, if somewhat cruel, solution...

They only have one major film in their portfolio – Star Trek Beyond, which, let's face it, was not very well made and did not do very well at the box office.
So the most obvious, if somewhat cruel, solution...

For a few hours this evening the London BFI IMAX became sovereign territory of a far distant Kingdom, the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes no less. And onto their concrete shores poured the cast and crew of the latest Apes-fest, the franchise who re-invigoration over a decade ago began a series of films far better than they had any right to be.
We were there to meet them on their London debut, and so present our interviews for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes from the UK Premiere red carpet. Owen Teague (“It”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”) star, Wes Ball returns to direct.

Despite ‘Creature Commandos’ being released first, James Gunn revealed that he considers ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025 as the true start of the Dcu. When the project was first announced we knew nothing about it save that Henry Cavill won’t be reprising his role as Clark Kent and that Gunn is looking for a younger Superman.
He however remained adamant that the movie won’t feature Superman’s origin story since it’s been done to death on-screen, and the live-action adaptations don’t need young Superman once more. He was also clear enough that he is not making a young ‘Superman’ movie, just a ‘Superman’ movie on his private profile on Threads.
Now it seems that somewhere down the line Gunn has changed his mind as the new casting call was released and it seems that they are looking for a young Clark Kent, several of them,...

Although ‘Creature Commandos’ came out first, James Gunn considers ‘Superman,’ slated for a 2025 release, as the true beginning of the Dcu. When the project was initially announced, little was known about it except that Henry Cavill wouldn’t reprise his role as Clark Kent, and Gunn was seeking a younger actor for Superman.
However, Gunn was firm in his stance that the film wouldn’t delve into Superman’s origin story, as it’s been extensively covered on-screen already, and he didn’t want to retread familiar ground. He clarified on his private profile on Threads that he’s not making a movie about a young Superman, but rather a Superman movie.
Now, it appears that Gunn has had a change of heart, as a recent casting call indicates they’re searching for young actors to portray Clark Kent. This suggests the possibility of flashbacks in the movie.
