This Is Us Round Table: How is Randall Like His Mother?
What an emotional episode of This Is Us!

Our TV Fanatics Sarah Little and Jack Ori discuss Randall's trip to learn about his mother on This Is Us Season 5 Episode 6.

Read on to learn what we thought about Laurel's story, how Randall is like his mother, and what our vote is for the most emotional part of the hour!

Was Randall's trip to learn about Laurel's life as emotional for you as back in Season 1 when he made the trip to learn about William right before William's death?

Sarah: Both episodes, in my opinion, are perfect hours of TV.

They were equally emotional and heartbreaking, and they added missing pieces to Randall's character.

But as heavy as the hour was, by the end of it, it was almost like a weight was lifted off our shoulders because Randall's quest to unravel his history is complete.

So, yes, it was emotional,

GLAAD: TV's LGBTQ Representation Dipped Amid Pandemic, Because Too Few Shows Do Too Much of the Work

GLAAD: TV's LGBTQ Representation Dipped Amid Pandemic, Because Too Few Shows Do Too Much of the Work
GLAAD’s “Where We Are on TV” report this year notes that the number of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender and queer characters has slightly decreased — due in part to how the pandemic sidelined many of the shows that reliably represent the LGBTQ community.

All told, the inclusion of LGBTQ series regular characters on primetime scripted broadcast series, for example, dropped from 10.2 to 9.1 percent. But once the shows that ran into production delays during the pandemic and (thus aren’t included in the study’s June 2020-May 2021 timetable) return, “we expect to see real growth,” says GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis.

TV Ratings: NBC’s ‘This Is Us’ and Fox’s ‘The Resident’ Lead Tuesday Night
A new, sixth episode of NBC’s syrupy romantic family drama, “This Is Us,” led Tuesday night’s primetime fast affiliate ratings both in total viewers and in the key, adults ages 18-49 demographic, proving that TV watchers in the U.S. are craving comfort, sappiness and tear-inducing plotlines in a not-so uplifting time. The 9 p.m. telecast of the episode, titled “Birth Mother,” drew in a 0.9 rating in the key demo and 5.31 million viewers, improving upon last week’s total 5.2 million viewers and showing substantial boosts after its unimpressive fifth season debut ratings in October.

Runnerup in the Nielsen+Live Same Day ratings for Tuesday was the season four return of cynical medical drama “The Resident” on Fox, which pulled a 0.6 rating in the key 18-49 demo, and 3.77 million viewers at 8 p.m. Notably, the premiere was down about 28.6% in the key demo and down roughly 7% in total viewers
