Beyond surrealism; the inexpressible, most underrated Buñuel Tie with "Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie" (1972) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068361/)

5. Zazie in the Metro (1960)

Director: Louis Malle | Stars: Catherine Demongeot, Philippe Noiret, Hubert Deschamps, Carla Marlier

Votes: 6,757

In my opinion, the good part of the "Nouvelle Vague" starts and ends here. This movie is so different from any other French new-wave movies, that it hardly fits in the category; hence I could say I don't really like "nouvelle vague" movies in general, but i just love this one. As the protagonist would say: "Nouvelle vague mon c...!"

Votes: 339,663 | Gross: $5.54M

This is a romance... between me and the movie. The right adjective here is: enchanting. And I've used that like 3 times in my life=)

I could almost swap my favorite movies list for his filmography... So The Birds is here to represent ALL of Hitchcock; this title in part. is much more than a "thriller" so as Hitch was much more than "The Master of Suspense"... Guess someone else noticed that?

8. L'Atalante (1934)

One of the few great movies of the XXI century. The steadycam is the real dream machine.

The only documentary in my list is Hell on Earth. The only documentary I will never, NEVER see again, and possibly the most important ever shot. Just watch it, if you dare... and think about it.

Director: Lawrence Kasdan | Stars: William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Richard Crenna, Ted Danson

Votes: 40,162 | Gross: $24.06M

This movie should be an "hommage" to the noir cinema; to me it is the finest piece of it. Dreamlike, elegant and... just Hot!

A man faces a trial for murder. The court is biased because of his personal qualities.

Director: Luchino Visconti | Stars: Marcello Mastroianni, Anna Karina, Bernard Blier, Alfred Adam

Votes: 3,102

A "minor" Visconti happens to be the title of one of my favourite books ever; from the novel by Albert Camus, a VERY underrated movie with Marcello Mastroianni as the perfect "stranger".

Votes: 467,125 | Gross: $13.78M

I know why I like this "horror flick" so much; I don't know if that's the same reason why so many people like it... But, who cares? I just like it!

A great movie about the little people, and a new star in the universe of animation from Ghibli Studio

It has been described as both a nature documentary and a "fairy tale" look at the story of young girl and her friendship with a fox.

Director: Luc Jacquet | Stars: Bertille Noël-Bruneau, Isabelle Carré, Thomas Laliberté, Camille Lambert

Votes: 4,371

It has been described as both a nature documentary and a "fairy tale"; this movie can make you think of how "nature" is close to the kingdom of "fairy tales"... and that we should live right there

87 Metascore

A documentary on insect life in meadows and ponds.

An examination of the possible consequences of a certain event.

Votes: 2,797

"The Fabulous World of Jules Verne" in one of the best Zeman's "woodcut" movie

Not Rated | 118 min | Documentary, History

Mythology and belief in society today, presenting uncommon perspectives of common cultural issues.

Director: Peter Joseph | Stars: Chogyam Trungpa, Jordan Maxwell, George Carlin, Bill Hicks

Votes: 50,375

This one could be the greatest movie ever; but it's just an audio-visual bunch of "inconvenient truths" that nobody would ever put in a "real movie", so... Zeitgeist is the greatest bunch of "inconvenient truths" ever, too bad it will never be a "real movie".
