The voices that shaped fighting games (4/4: Celebrity Edition)

by jacobrosales-50526 | created - 11 Aug 2021 | updated - 2 days ago | Public

I've grown to love fighting games, but I've also grown to appreciate the many voice actors that put their best efforts into the voices of these iconic characters. While I have listed lesser-known voice actors, anime voice actors, and higher-budget voice actors, this list will feature voice actors higher than the likes of Steve Blum or Laura Bailey: the celebrity category. Here are some of the few celebrities who have lent their voices to the fighting game genre.

This is the fourth episode & finale of this series.

To paraphrase Japanese professional fighting game player Tokido: "Fighting games are something so great."

(Actor(s) denied entry: Austin St. John, the voice of Jason Lee Scott/Mighty Morphin' Red Ranger in "Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid", won't be added due to being involved in a crypto scam back in 2022.)

(Removals: Tara Strong, the voice of Harley Quinn in the Injustice series, has been removed, due to promoting NFTs, being a supporter of PETA, tweeting Islamophobic remarks during the ongoing Arab-Israeli conflict, et cetera. Justin Roiland, the voice of Rick & Morty in MultiVersus, has been removed for engaging in domestic violence and sexual misconduct. Ronda Rousey, the voice of Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 11, has been removed, due to her poor voice performance as the character and, most of all, her overall divisive online reputation.)

(Side note 1: With the removal of Tara Strong, Phil LaMarr has replaced her as the actor with the most fighting game voice roles on this list, having voiced five characters.)

(Side note 2: May Carl Weathers and Jason David Frank rest in peace…)

(With all four lists created, to say that I'm disappointed in actors like Hellena Taylor, Chuck Huber, Reuben Langdon, and Tara Strong would be an understatement.)

Members of the fighting game community I would like to mention since they don’t have IMDb pages:

Jeremy "Vicious" Lopez (Play-by-play commentator for Street Fighter 6)

Steve "TastySteve" Scott (Play-by-play commentator for Street Fighter 6)
