Walter (George Payne) and Marsha (Michelle Maren) are the classic American married couple. Walter has a good job and Marsha is your perfect housewife. The pair believe in monogamy. I say that, but the couple have a sort of sexual awakening. One day, Walter has a bit of fun with a local hooker (Sharon Mitchell) and whilst he’s at it – Marsha finds herself seduced by Joe (Eric Edwards) – their Meter man. As this is going on, their friends Andy (Joey Silvera) and his wife Louise (Sharon Kane) are the complete opposite. The couple are both openly promiscuous and have their own fun when they can. One night – after some drinks in Andy and Louise’s apartment – the two couples decide to sit...

The Simpsons made its debut way back in 1989 and though it’s viewed as a wholesome, family-oriented show by many, 27 seasons and almost 600 episodes in the show has had more than its fair share of controversy.
George Bush Sr. took offence back in the early ‘90s, and several American conservative groups have called out the show’s ‘radical’ handling of everything from religion to same-sex marriage. It doesn’t end on The Simpsons’ home turf either: over its history it’s also managed to offend Brazil, Australia, South Korea and, strangely enough, even its own creator Matt Groening.
But then, despite its pre-watershed spot, it’s never been a show to shy away from satire and that’s one of the reasons The Simpsons is simultaneously such a well-respected, long-running show and a source of chagrin.
These are the Simpsons episodes that generated the most outrage, from a regrettable...

Everything you’ve heard about porn is true, more or less. Most of the men really do enter the industry in order to have sex with large numbers of women, who in turn are attracted by the money and the glamour.
The horror stories from the 80s and 90s are mostly true, too. While rumours spread that several high-profile performers had contracted AIDS, their colleagues were blowing their money on nose candy. All kinds of unscrupulous people were attracted to the industry, and bounced cheques, threats and violence were not unheard of.
Whether as a reaction to the industry’s decline in the face of piracy and free online content or because of closer scrutiny, the adult movie business in the 21st century has begun cleaning up its act. The practices of yesteryear are no longer tolerated, though many performers feel the emphasis on health and safety has gone too far.

Directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman
Written by Andy Bellin
USA, 2013
In Billy Wilder’s excellent 1951 drama Ace in the Hole, which is a classic showcase of media manipulation, ambitious city-slicker reporter Chuck Tatum (played by an enthusiastic Kirk Douglas) finds himself stuck in Albuquerque, New Mexico with hopes to find that one big story that will jettison him to the big-leagues again. Tatum lucks out when he is informed about a man trapped in a cave-in and uses this opportunity to break big. When Tatum’s photographer asks why this will make a big story, Tatum responds that it’s a “human interest” subject and that if you can get readers to sympathize with the narrative then you have the reader’s attention. But, he also elaborates that a human interest story has to focus on one person; if you focus on others involved with the story,...

Ben Bradlee movies: From 'All the President's Men' to 'Born Yesterday' (photo: Jason Robards as 'The Washington Post' executive editor Ben Bradlee in 'All the President's Men') Former Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee aka Benjamin C. Bradlee, best known for his key role in the Watergate scandal that destroyed the Richard Nixon presidency, and who was later played by Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Jason Robards in Alan J. Pakula's film version of All the President's Men, died of "natural causes" last October 21, 2014, at his home in Washington, D.C. Bradlee, who had been suffering from Alzheimer's disease, was 93. The Washington Post of the 21st century may look increasingly like a more pedantic version of the Rupert Murdoch-owned tabloid New York Post, but things weren't always like that. Back in the days when the American media — at least some of the time — actually bothered reporting news...

Where feature filmmakers head into a project with a script and a plan, the path for documentarians is unpredictable. They follow real subjects and real issues often in real time — and sometimes for years at a time — and piece everything together as the footage comes along. Sometimes, things fall apart or the subject has to change, such as it with Alex Gibney’s The Armstrong Lie (2013). Though different skill sets go into the distinct film forms, some documentary filmmakers choose to transition to narrative features and vice versa, such as Spike Lee, whose next release will be a documentary titled Go Brasil Go!.
Rob Epstein and Jeff Friedman have made the jump from documentaries to feature films and have said that they intend on continuing to make both types of film. Epstein and Friedman won an Oscar for their first co-directed documentary, Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt...

You can't sit with us! Mean Girls turns 10 - 22 most fetch moments
Amanda Seyfried has played iconic roles in her career, from Cosette in Les Misérables to Linda Lovelace in Lovelace, but to a generation she will always be known as Karen Smith.
Alongside fellow Plastics Regina George (Rachel McAdams) and Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert), Seyfried nabbed most of the best lines in the movie - but which is her favourite?
When we were sitting down with Seyfried to talk about her latest movie A Million Ways to Die in the West, we just had to ask, and while we were chatting we also quizzed her on the possibility of a Mean Girls sequel.
"God she's so dumb," Seyfried told us of Karen. "So blissfully ignorant. It's so fun to play that."

The A Million Ways to Die in the West actress poses in various states of undress for the magazine, rocking floral lingerie and red leather cowboy boots. Seyfried, of course, is no stranger to showing off her sultry side—remember when played adult film star Linda Lovelace in 2013's star-studded indie Lovelace? Or when she kissed Megan Fox in 2009's heavily publicized but little seen Jennifer's Body? "We kissed really well together," Seyfried says of Fox. "We have similar kissing styles! Vinegar Syndrome has released another "Peekarama" double feature of hardcore retro porn from the 1970s. In the amusingly garish packaging, it promises both features are "Full Color, Widescreen" as though the productions were directed by John Ford. First up is Deep Roots, which has to be the only attempt to mingle Alex Haley's landmark bestseller and TV mini-series with the peculiar oral talents of Linda Lovelace. Such creative marketing has long been a mainstay of the porn business which always incorporated the latest social phenomenons into grind house productions. Remember On Golden Blonde and Romancing the Bone? Deep Roots presents top-liner Jesse Chacan as Billy, a beefy, good-looking Native American guy who is bored with life on the reservation. He inherits a house in L.A. and decides to move there. The opening sequences actually boast some real production values and some relatively impressive camerawork as...

‘Nymphomaniac’ Tops the Copious Sex on Screen at Sundance 2014 Getting it on never feels as honest as in the fringe films that play the fest. By Matt Patches Without Hollywood looming over their decisions and censoring in the name of chastity, independent filmmakers have a blank canvas to explore any topic, including the entire spectrum of sexuality. This makes the Sundance Film Festival a no holds barred arena of the raunchy and romantic — getting it on never feels as honest as in the fringe films that play the fest. Sundance 2013 hit new heights in the sex department, offering Joseph Gordon-Levitt's porn addiction dramedy, Daniel Radcliffe's gay sex scene, a biopic of Linda Lovelace, and a documentary on bondage, just to name a few. 2014 was a little more tempered, though eventually met the bar set by last year thanks to the last minute addition of the much-buzzed Nymphomaniac. Let’s not mince words here. American Hustle, more than anything, was a foray into the many and varied ways into which Amy Adams‘ cleavage could be exposed. From spangly dresses with plunging necklines to the more humble wrap around dress, Adams’ greatest assets were consistently and brazenly on display. Not that anyone is complaining.
Now that we have the benefit of hindsight, we can finally appreciate how special ’70s cleavage truly was. For whatever reason, the ’70s were the era in which cleavage really shined. Forget the shoulder-padded ’80s or the Baywatch baboon’ ’90s — the era of T&A was truly the ’70s (which is weird because “8″ seems to denote boob more than “7″). From buxom babes like Brigitte Bardot to the most ultimate in Bond vixens, from the original Linda Lovelace and Charlie’s Angels, the ’70s is where the boob truly prospered.

It seems James Franco is now the hardest-working man in show-business -- if you look back at his 2013, that is.
Franco's multi-tasking started to seem like a Joaquin Phoenix-style put-on a couple years ago; not only was he writing, directing, and starring in various films, but he was also, it seemed, studying for graduate degrees at several universities at once. But then, it became apparent that he really was spreading himself too thin when he practically fell asleep onstage while co-hosting the 2011 Oscars. He took a lot of flak for that, but he hardly seems to have lessened his pace.
Indeed, the Oscar jokes ceased once Franco returned to the good graces of moviegoers with the 2013 smash "Oz the Great and Powerful."
According to IMDb, Franco worked on some 49 film and TV projects in 2013, and while many of those were just guest spots on talk shows, that still means that,...

Amanda Seyfried, arguably best known for her wide-eyed performances in films such as Mean Girls andMama Mia!, is perhaps not who you might expect to be cast as Linda Lovelace in a serious and confrontational film about spousal abuse. Defying expectations, however, is usually a good thing.
Lovelace is a different film to what you might expect based on its poster campaign, which seems to suggest a frothy, saucy take on the subject matter and you might be forgiven for viewing the film in this way for its first half. So here we are in Christmas week, most of the usual streaming companies have done well for you so that you won’t be too bored post turkey when you have to tolerate the family. As much as we all might mock James Franco for his seemingly never-ending work flow of wackiness – movies, television, dunder-headed adaptations of classic novels, soap operas, books, art installations, screaming about shit, and so on and so forth – the multi-hyphenate certainly seems to be interested in mixing things up in a big way. He also appears to have a hefty interest in classic Hollywood and offbeat stories from that era (this is, after all, a guy who directed a biopic on Sal Mineo), so why not give him a meaty role in an era-appropriate film that he can excel it, if only because he’s done it before? Variety reports that director David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) is now on board to direct Warner Bros.’ long-gestating biopic about Hugh Hefner, Playboy founder, raconteur, and major man about town. While Dobkin seems like a bit of a strange fit – he also directed The Change-Up – the director has recently taken...

★★★☆☆In 1972, Linda Lovelace shot to stardom as a sexually frustrated woman with an oral clitoris in the controversial porno Deep Throat (1972). The first mainstream pornographic film of its kind went on to become a phenomenal success and garnered international interest in its lead actress. Lovelace went on to write three autobiographies claiming that her role in the film was liberating and empowering, but her fourth book revealed the shocking truth of physical and mental abuse that happened behind the scenes. Jeffrey Friedman and Robert Epstein's co-directed biopic Lovelace (2013) thus tells the story from both sides.

When Idris Elba signed on to play Nelson Mandela in the new film Mandela: The Long Walk To Freedom, he not only had to play one of the most recognizable men in history without it seeming like an impression, but he also had to capture the vitality of the man in his youth. Nelson Mandela isn’t just a peace maker or a former rebel. As seen we see in Mandela: The Long Walk To Freedom, he was also a ladies man.
And so, Elba joins a long list of hot actorss like Nicole Kidman, Amanda Seyfried and Ashton Kutcher who have had to either turn down (or turn up) their looks to match the hotness of the historic heroes and legendary celebs they’ve been hired to play.
“People like to see ‘lookie-like’ films,” Elba told us on the Mandela: The Long Walk To Freedom red carpet.

Morocco is set to get an injection of international glamour, as THR just announced that Sharon Stone and Juliette Binoche will be honored at the Marrakech International Film Festival, receiving career tributes when it kicks off at the end of the month. This comes off the heels of a great year on screen for the actresses, with Stone garnering praise for her intense role as porn star Linda Lovelace's mother in "Lovelace" and Binoche as French artist Camille Claudel in "Camille Claudel, 1915." Japanese director Hirokazu Kor-eda and Argentine director Fernando Solanas will also be honored at the festival, which runs from November 29 to December 7. Now in its 13th year, the Marrakech International Film Festival has grown in size and star power, with Martin Scorsese, Marion Cotillard and Patricia Clarkson having already been announced as jury members of this year's edition. Other attendees set to be at the festival include Noomi Rapace,...

Something oddly wonderful happened in early ’70s Hollywood the likes of which was never glimpsed again. No, I’m not referring to Elliott Gould’s emergence as a leading man and international sex symbol. Instead I’m talking about a situation where two studios with similar projects decided to combine forces instead of racing to complete competing movies. 20th Century Fox had the rights to Frank Robinson’s and Thomas Scortia’s novel “The Glass Inferno,” and WB had the rights to Richard Stern’s “The Tower.” Both books were disaster tales about a devastating high-rise fire, so the studios combined their efforts resulting in 1974′s The Towering Inferno. It was an immense success. Similar scenarios have happened many times since with competing projects bearing a remarkable resemblance to each other in plot or subject, but none of them have ended in that same congenial way. Either one film drops out of the running (think Linda Lovelace biopic...

It could have turned lead actress Linda Lovelace (played by Amanda Seyfried) into a star. In Lovelace we see her rise into the porn industry and her quick escape from it. But, what’s more, the film delves into her troubled relationship with husband Chuck (Peter Sarsgaard).

“Intolerance”
“Intolerance” would be a massive, amazing undertaking in 2013. Can you even put in perspective what it was like 100 years ago? Arguably one of the most important and influential silent films ever made, “Intolerance” runs almost three hours and covers centuries of storytelling. It’s a fascinating film both in the history of cinema and the way it addressed cultural concerns of the time. Cohen Media Group continues to expertly restore and highlight great films. They’re quickly rising the ranks of the most important Blu-ray studios working today.

Moviefone's DVD of the Week:
"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"
What's It About? The first installment of Peter Jackson's three-part adaptation of the beloved J.R.R. Tolken novel, "The Hobbit," follows an epic quest to retain a treasure. Martin Freeman stars as the titular Bilbo Baggins hobbit (the younger version of Ian Holm's Bilbo), who travels with a pack of dwarves to reclaim their stolen treasure from the vicious dragon Smaug.
Why We're In: While Jackson's "The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey" is in no way as grand or as incredible as his "Lord of the Rings" films, it is still a fun and worthy visualization of the book.
Moviefone's Top Blu-ray of the Week:
"James Dean: The Ultimate Collector's Edition"
What's It About? This collection features the three films that spanned the iconic actor's short career. In Elia Kazan's 1955 "East of Eden," Dean plays Cal,...

VOD is all the rage right now, and for good reason (check out our November list). But while it's gratifying to know that you can watch pretty much anything with the simple click of a button, there's something comforting about tearing into a DVD/Blu-ray case and popping the disc into your player. That, and not even a VOD film in HD, can rival the clarity a Blu-ray disc offers. To keep you up to date with the current goings-on in the home video marketplace, here are the new releases worth your time and money. "Lovelace" "Lovelace," starring Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone and Adam Brody, tells the story of porn star-turned feminist activist Linda Boreman (Seyfried). Longing to escape her conservative Catholic upbringing, Linda falls into the arms of her hustler husband Chuck Traynor who exploits and abuses her as she transitions from porn star sensation Linda Lovelace to an anti-pornography feminist activist.

The life of Linda Lovelace, one of the most controversial figures of early ’70s pop culture received a dramatization earlier this year in the period biopic Lovelace. Ms Lovelace was of course the star of Deep Throat in 1972, the most popular and influential porn film not only of that decade, but of all time. Deep Throat remains the tawdry film which — by introducing hardcore sex into the mainstream — ushered in the infinitely more explicit internet porn that is now only a keyboard click away. Completed in less than a week, with all interior shots filmed in the same cheap Florida hotel room, the 61-minute Deep Throat cost just $30,000 to make but earned an estimated $600 million — making it the most lucrative film ever made. Was Lovelace a victim of drug abuse and prostitution, a slave to Chuck Traynor, her controlling, mean-tempered husband, or was she a willing participant in the adult film industry?...

Amanda Seyfried is adult film icon Linda Lovelace in Lovelace.
Amanda Seyfried (In Time) and Peter Sarsgaard (Green Lantern) star in a 2013 film drama about the iconic Seventies adult film star Linda Lovelace in the drama Lovelace.
In 1972—before the internet, before the adult film explosion—Deep Throat was a phenomenon: the first scripted adult theatrical feature film, featuring a story, some jokes, and an unknown and unlikely star, Linda Lovelace (Seyfried). Escaping a strict religious family, Linda discovered freedom and the high-life when she fell for and married charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor (Sarsgaard). As Linda Lovelace, she became an international sensation—less centerfold fantasy than a charming girl-next-door with an impressive capacity for fellatio. After struggling to break free from Traynor whose endless abuse nearly killed her, Linda made it her life’s mission to fight violence against women.

This week we have a copy of Lovelace on DVD to give out to one lucky reader, courtesy of our friends at Anchor Bay Home Entertainment.
The film tells the story of famous porn star Linda Lovelace (Amanda Seyfried), who starred in the most successful porno of all time (Deep Throat) but was used and abused by the industry and her boyfriend before standing up to take control of her life.
While our own Jonathan Lack’s review concluded with only two out of five stars for the film, he was a big fan of Seyfried’s acting, calling it “possibly her best performance to date.”
To enter our contest for your chance to win a copy of the DVD, simply Like us on Facebook and then Re-Tweet our contest message. A winner will be chosen on October 30th.

• Amanda Seyfried on Lovelace: 'I can't judge porn'
• Russell Crowe's Noah gets into hot water
Amanda Seyfried will star opposite Russell Crowe in a new relationship drama from The Pursuit of Happyness director Gabriele Muccino, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Fathers and Daughters sees the Mamma Mia! actor as a young woman pondering the travails of her current relationship as she also recalls the time she spent with her father, a famous author, 25 years earlier. Crowe secured a deal to play the novelist earlier this week.
Seyfried, 27, recently starred in Lovelace, a biopic of the troubled porn star Linda Lovelace, and as Cosette in the Oscar-winning musical Les Misérables. She is due to take a lead role in Seth MacFarlane's spoof western A Million Ways to Die in the West, and...

After playing Linda Lovelace, there’s not much that makes Amanda Seyfried flinch. And yesterday (September 24) the “Big Love” babe had to go without trousers as she filmed her new project.
Seyfried pranced around in her underwear on the set of “While We’re Young” in New York City, and given the fall temperatures it was likely a chilly endeavor.
However, Amanda had the support of director Noah Baumbach and nearby costars Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, and Adam Driver, so it was all good.
Per the synopsis, “While We’re Young” is about “an uptight documentary filmmaker and his wife as they find their lives loosened up a bit after befriending a free-spirited younger couple.”...

The new biopic of porn star Linda Lovelace shows just how far we've come from the days of I Love Lucy

• Video: Amanda Seyfried on Lovelace
Casablanca used a flashing lighthouse, To Catch a Thief set off bursting fireworks, Gone with the Wind featured a disappearance behind an emphatically slammed door. What's going on off screen? Sex, of course.
Now we are less constricted. The era of Whitehouse-type sensibilities is long past. But as the new Lovelace film brings the controversy that surrounded Deep Throat – the film that made Linda Lovelace's name – to the screen, we're reminded that this was not always the case. What about all those films that operated under a censorship code or were bound by prevailing moral standards to be less explicit? How did they manage to do sex … without showing sex?

Amanda Seyfried earnestly attempts an honest portrayal of Linda Boreman, but the Deep Throat actor remains a mystery
• Reel history on Fair Game
• Reel history on The Enigma of Kasper Hauser
• Reel history on Land of the Pharaohs
Directors: Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman
Entertainment grade: B+
History grade: C+
Linda Boreman, credited as Linda Lovelace, was the star of 1972 porn film Deep Throat. Later in life, she became a prominent figure in the anti-pornography movement.
Structure
Lovelace is a film in two parts. In the first, a young, naive and compliant Linda (Amanda Seyfried) falls in love with shady Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard), stars in Deep Throat and achieves fame in a whirl of kitschy 70s glamour. Then the film flips back to the beginning and starts filling in the nasty bits it left out the first time round. This is a clever way to handle Boreman's own take on events.

Taking her pooch out for some early morning exercise, Amanda Seyfried and Finn walked in West Hollywood on Tuesday (August 27).
The "Les Misérables" star dressed down in a white v-neck T-shirt and gray drawstring pants as she wrangled her excited fluffy brown dog.
Though the 27-year-old actress gained lots of attention for starring as pornographic actress Linda Lovelace in the biopic "Lovelace," Finn is starting to share the spotlight.
Late last month, the Australian shepherd joined his lovely master on "The Late Show with David Letterman" where he obediently balanced a hamburger on his head.

Washington, August 27: Famous adult movie star Linda Lovelace was apparently forced by her then husband Chuck Traynor, into making porn movies.
Hustler Magazine publisher Larry Flynt, who claims to have known Lovelace and Traynor, told CNN that she was just being used every step of the way.
Flynt asserted that the 'Deep Throat' star wasn't in the situation where she would wake up every morning and think that she couldn't wait to get to work.
Flynt believes that Traynor prostituted Lovelace and was quite controlling of her, adding that is the reason why he refers to Traynor as a pimp.

Why did two of radical feminism's biggest names decide to advise the makers of the new movie about the late porn star Linda Lovelace?
Seeing the names of two of radical feminism's most famous activists pop out in the closing credits of Lovelace might have surprised filmgoers over the weekend. The biopic about the star of the notorious 1972 porn film Deep Throat came with help from Catharine MacKinnon, a lawyer and anti-pornography campaigner, and Gloria Steinem, founder of Ms magazine.
The pair met Linda "Lovelace" Marchiano just before she released her (third) memoir, Ordeal, in 1980. In it, she wrote of being abused, pimped and raped by her then husband Chuck Traynor who reportedly forced her to make Deep Throat at gunpoint. The three of them worked as anti-porn campaigners for the next two decades and MacKinnon became Linda's lawyer. MacKinnon has represented Linda's children and estate since the actor-turned-activist died...

Sharon Stone, who famously uncrossed and recrossed her sexy legs in the 1992 hit movie "Basic Instinct," has some advice for younger actresses: don't be afraid to get naked.
The '80s sex symbol said she can't understand actresses who sign on for lovemaking scenes only to make certain their bodies are buried in the duvet.
The 55-year-old mother of three told WENN: “I feel that it’s so disappointing in films when you see the comforter taped to someone’s chest. It takes you out of the scene and doesn’t protect you from something within the scene.
"My 'Lovelace' co-star Peter Sarsgaard said, 'When I'm in bed with someone and I get up to go to the bathroom, I don't take the comforter with me'," she added.
Opening this month, "Lovelace" details the life of porn star Linda Lovelace. Stone plays Linda's mother, while Sarsgaard plays Linda's abusive husband.

A Cate with destiny
Oscar races are hard to read, especially in August when nobody's yet had a good look at the runners. However, I can't imagine a hotter favourite than Cate Blanchett, who is magnificent as the lead character in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine. Hers is one of the finest performances in Allen's entire oeuvre, certainly the most powerful female one since Gena Rowlands in the rather forgotten Another Woman.
Blanchett's Jasmine is a bundle of desperation, denial and drugs, a wealthy woman sheltering at her sister's flat in San Francisco, brought low by her husband's financial misdemeanours. The story of Linda Lovelace and Deep Throat feels as dodgy as its subject matter
For a brief, demented period in the early 1970s, hardcore pornography became fashionable among America's professional middle classes, and was predicted to be the next big thing in popular culture. The central exhibit for this claim was Deep Throat, and its star, the 22-year-old Linda Lovelace, playing a young woman dedicated to fellatio after discovering that her clitoris was in her throat, became an icon. The movie's title entered the language via Watergate, and Lovelace became the subject of a thousand jokes (eg How did Linda Lovelace's grandmother die? She went down on the Titanic).
This dubious, dislikable film starring Amanda Seyfried as Lovelace has it both ways by telling her story as a raunchy Rashomon. First there's the romantic tale of her liberation by Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard), proprietor of a Florida "titty...

Los Angeles, Aug 25: Actor Adam Brody had credited actress Amanda Seyfried for getting him the role of porn star Harry Reems in "Lovelace".
The 33-year-old portrays the character in the biopic of X-rated actress Linda Lovelace, played by Seyfried. He believes his "Jennifer's Body" co-star must have recommended him to the movie's producers.
"I loved working with her in 'Lovelace'. We were both in 'Jennifer's Body' in 2009 as well. I think it was probably down to her that I got this job," contactmusic.com quoted Brody as saying.
Brody, who is dating Leighton Meester, shot to fame as Seth Cohen in Us teen drama series.

A biopic of infamous porn star Linda Lovelace, whose 1972 film Deep Throat, showcasing her unique 'talents', helped bring the porn industry to main stream attention, Lovelace stars Amanda Seyfried in the title role, charting her life in the industry, as well as her later life as an anti-porn activist, with the most focus being put on her ill fated marriage with the abusive Chuck Traynor (Peter Sarsgaard), who, declaring himself her manager, controlled every aspect of her life. Directed by Rob Epstein and Jerry Friedman, Lovelace perfectly captures the look and the feel of the Seventies, and with the focus being put on Linda's marriage, it has found the great hook to tell a powerful and interesting story. The film is basically a two hander, with Seyfried and Sarsgaard giving it their all in their roles. Seyfried perfectly captures the slowly eroding innocence of the character, and is thoroughly convincing...

(Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, 2013, Us) Amanda Seyfried, Peter Sarsgaard, Sharon Stone, Hank Azaria, Chloë Sevigny, Adam Brody. 93 mins
Kitsch 70s larks are averted thanks to the determination of directors Epstein and Friedman (who made the Allen Ginsberg film Howl) to tell the story of porn star Linda Lovelace in all its grimness and complexity. Seyfried is the victimised performer, who later claimed her appearance in the 1972 phenomenon Deep Throat amounted to filmed rape; the strong supporting cast represents a Who's Who of Us indie character actors.
Elysium (15)
(Neill Blomkamp, 2013, Us) Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Alice Braga. 109 mins
Smart dystopian sci-fi for the Occupy Wall Street generation, with Damon as an ex-crook who breaks into the privileged off-world colony of Elysium to...
