As if we needed more reason to fear the replicants, this short film shows that they are just flat out determined and a lot tougher than we originally believed. Where the original Blade Runner became memorable with its use of replicants and their continued struggle against humanity and those that hunted them, the upcoming Blade Runner 2049 is set to spark an all out war between the replicants and the human race. This anime short film, set in 2022, only three years after the original Blade Runner, is a chilling look into the escalating difficulties that have emerged between humans

For those trying to work out just what to expect from Blade Runner 2049, set to bow Friday, Warner Bros. has offered three clues, in the form of short movies inspired by Denis Villeneuve's sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic. They are three projects that fill in the gaps between 2019 (when the original movie takes place) and the year 2049 of the sequel. Black Out 2022, 2036: Nexus Dawn and 2048: Nowhere to Run are less complete narratives as much as puzzles waiting to be unlocked — but what, if anything, can they tell us about the future of a...

"All records on the ground will be erased." Ready for more Blade Runner prequel action? Warner Bros has unveiled the final prequel short film for Blade Runner 2049, this one an anime directed by acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Shinichirō Watanabe (of Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop). Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 takes place between the first and second short films, in the year 2022, telling the story of when an Emp blast knocked out power to cities around the world causing the anti-Replicant movement, which lead to their prohibition, before Niander Wallace eventually brought them back. This short very much reminds me of the Animatrix shorts, specifically "The Second Renaissance" Parts I & II which tell a much bigger story about what is going on in the world. This will definitely get you in the mood for the full movie. Here's the entire prequel short Blade Runner: Black Out 2022 for Blade Runner 2049,...

The last ‘Blade Runner 2049’ prequel short film has arrived, and it’s absolutely beautiful. ‘Blade Runner Black Out 2022‘ is the third and final short to arrive after both the stellar ‘2036: Nexus Dawn‘ and ‘2048: Nowhere to Run’. Although these shorts gave us some insight into Niander Wallace (Jared Leto) and Sapper Morton’s (Dave Bautista) backstories, this third animated short film actually delves into the backstory of the new Nexus 8 Replicants, and the resulting human revolt that happens because of their creation.
The 15-minute film is directed by Shinichiro Watanabe (best known for his work on ‘Cowboy Bebop.’) The prequel short takes place in 2022, three years after the events of the original ‘Blade Runner‘, and chronicles “The Great Blackout of 2022”, and event that seemingly set many of the film’s plot points into motion. Kill the Messenger
Director: Michael Cuesta
Writer: Peter Landesman
Producers: Pamela Abdy, Naomi Despres, Jeremy Renner, Scott Stuber
U.S. Distributor: Focus Features
Cast: Jeremy Renner, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Michael Sheen, Michael K. Williams, Robert Patrick, Ray Liotta, Barry Pepper, Andy Garcia, Paz Vega, Rosemarie DeWitt, Tim Blake Nelson, Oliver Platt, Jena Sims, Lucas Hedges, Richard Schiff, Yul Vazquez
We know him as the director behind indie nuggets such as L.I.E., hotel room splendor of 12 and Holding and more recently, Roadie, so after a mostly low-budget indie filmography Michael Cuesta cross over into bigger budget big leagues is due to a successful stint on Homeland. Kill the Messenger sounds like compelling material, and sports and impressive ensemble cast, and we’re banking that visually it’ll pay dividends with cinematographer Sean Bobbitt who is currently at the top of his game.

It's been nearly three years since alt-metal superstars Sevendust rolled out their critically praised best-selling record Cold Day Memory, which also represented the return of founding guitarist Clint Lowery (who had left the band back in 2004 to form Dark New Day with his brother Corey). The success of that album – and the interim period in which many of the band members pursued side projects – created pretty high expectations for a follow-up, which arrived with their ninth studio release Black Out the Sun. While the tone of the material on this album is a bit darker and more ominous, it's still every bit as much a Sevendust project; a few elements here began life in another form during Cold Day Memory's songwriting sessions, but as a whole the tense, urgent vibe here falls more in line with their groundbreaking 2001 release Animosity. That's one of my personal faves, so it's only natural...

Super Bowl Xlvii was delayed for more than 30 minutes when a power outage occurred after the halftime show — and Beyoncé’s electric performance is not to blame!
A lot happened on Feb. 3: The Baltimore Ravens secured a victory over the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl Xlvii, Beyonce delivered the most epic halftime show ever — oh, and there was a huge power outage that lasted for 34 minutes!
