Never mind the heckles and boos, Sen. Tim Scott insists Donald Trump is gaining popularity! Trump’s critical reception at the Libertarian Convention this weekend isn’t deterring the senator from rosily insisting that while you may have heard jeers, there was a “wave of red hats” in the crowd.
“I saw a wave of red hats at the Libertarian convention,” Scott told CNN’s Dana Bash on State of the Union Sunday. “Donald Trump’s popularity continues to increase.”

The darkness enveloped me, and despite the summer heat outside, the air in the building was cool. I sat in silence, intently focused, anticipating what happened next, but not quite prepared. I tensed up upon seeing the spectral woman directly ahead of me. She silently floated, translucent and seemingly unaware — until at last facing me and lunging with a guttural growl as her face distorted into some horrific entity.
This memory is entirely true; it is a ghost story, but not one that took place in a haunted house. Rather, the setting was a haunted library, projected on screen in a movie theater during one of my many viewings of Ghostbusters.

It’s been less than two years since TV exec Matt Thunell left Netflix to become president of Skydance Television. And in that time, Thunell — who previously ran spectacle and event programming at the streamer — has completed his first major assignment from Skydance boss David Ellison and chief creative officer Dana Goldberg: doubling their TV series output.
Today, Skydance has five series in active production: Amazon’s “Reacher” and “Cross,” Netflix’s “Fubar,” Apple TV+’s’ “Foundation” and “The Big Door Prize,” as well as five new series orders setup across Amazon, Apple TV+ and Netflix, including a comedy, a YA series, an action series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, and a bull rider project led by Tim McGraw.
Skydance Television has also signed a first-look TV deal with filmmakers Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood’s Undisputed Cinema. The partners are about to sell their first series from the producing couple,...

In 2023, Saudi Arabian film agency Film AlUla formed AlUla Creates, a local initiative that provides funding, mentorship and networking opportunities for Saudi filmmakers and fashion designers. And in just one year, AlUla Creates has exploded into a global brand, already hosting 123 international productions in the scenic valleys of AlUla, Saudi Arabia.
“We call it a living museum,” said marketing director at Film AlUla Mahsa Motamedi. “It’s absolutely beautiful.”
As part of the Variety Global Conversations Summit at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Variety‘s Italy and Middle East correspondent Nick Vivarelli sat down with Motamedi, director Maram Taibah and sister filmmakers Raneem and Dana Almohandes to discuss the impact of AlUla Creates on the Saudi Arabian film industry.
Taibah is one of the many young filmmakers who found support from AlUla Creates. After her sister sent her an Instagram ad for the program, she knew immediately she wanted to join.

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said he had been wrong to say, “Lord help us,” if we support Donald Trump in 2016.
Vance said this while discussing his opinion about Trump’s New York hush money trial with CNN host Dana Bash.
Vance was one of many Republicans who visited the hush money trial last week.
“I want to ask about what we saw this past week, and it’s gonna continue this week – the trial in New York – adult film actress Stormy Daniels testified about her allegation of the sexual encounter with Donald Trump,” Bash told the Ohio senator. “Now, after the Access Hollywood tape in 2016, you tweeted: ‘fellow Christians, everyone is watching us. When we apologize for this man, lord help us,'” she added.
Bash reminded him that Vance has “since deleted that tweet” about the former president.
“Do you still feel that way about Donald Trump’s sexual indiscretions?...

Former adult film star Stormy Daniels testified under oath that Donald Trump told her that she “reminded him of his daughter” Ivanka Trump.
On May 7, Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, stated during Trump’s hush money trial in the Manhattan Court that the former president said this to her during their bedroom encounter back in 2006, which the latter has denied ever happened.
“When I opened the bathroom door to come out, Mr. Trump had come into the bedroom,” she recalled. “The intention was pretty clear: someone stripped down to their underwear posing on the bed waiting for you.”
Trump had stared ahead during Daniels’ testimony. “My clothes and shoes were off; I think I still had my bra on,” the former film actress recalled. “We were in missionary position.”
She stated that Trump was not wearing a condom and that the encounter was long.

It was a long night for Tom Brady at his live Netflix comedy roast, as it was for the rest of us watching from home.
Starting with a bloody Oj Simpson jersey and ending with Brady smashing an iPhone on stage, the Netflix live event, “The Greatest Roast of All-Time: Tom Brady,” honored the seven-time Super Bowl champion. The modern-day legend faced his biggest challenge yet: being roasted by comedians and his former NFL teammates.
At times hilarious and at others a bit cringe-worthy, the unedited live event was a lengthy affair that made one truly appreciate the editors of the Comedy Central roasts. Their task was to condense the content into a concise, entertaining 60-minute presentation. Here, bits went on far too long, and former football players had glazed looks in their eyes in the background. The comedians who do this for a living performed incredibly well, while the others…...

ABC News president Kim Godwin is out at the network.
Debra OConnell, president, News Group and Networks at Disney Entertainment, and Godwin shared the news in internal memos sent to staff Sunday night.
Godwin told staff that after reflecting on her tenure, “I have decided to retire from broadcast journalism.”
“Anyone who’s passionate about what we do knows there’s no other business like it, so this was not an easy or quick decision,” Godwin continued. “But after considerable reflection, I’m certain it’s the right one for me as I look to the future and prioritize what’s most important for me and my family.”
In her memo, OConnell said that she would lead ABC News in the interim.

Fans still couldn’t get over the terrible climax episode, My Struggle IV, of the eleventh and final season of The X-Files. While the show was a pop culture phenomenon, the show’s quality descended throughout the final seasons. However, the nail in the coffin was the controversial final episode where Dana Scully and Fox Mulder realized that William was not their child but an experiment. Further to make matters worse, Scully reveals that she is pregnant.

When 9-1-1 co-creator Tim Minear signed up on Twitter (now known as X), he chose a telling handle to denote his legacy as a screenwriter and director: @Cancelledagain. “I was sort of infamous for all of my thundering failures over the years,” explains Minear. “Firefly lasted one season, Terriers one season, The Inside one season, Drive went for six episodes. Everything was canceled, so I just called myself ‘cancelled again,’ which actually worked out for me because these are all beloved little cult shows now.”
With the seventh season of 9-1-1, which he created with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, underway and a milestone 100th episode premiering April 4, Minear now has a big, long-running show on his hands, plus a successful spinoff in 9-1-1: Lone Star, which will debut its fifth season in the fall. So much so that he’s considering a name change if he returns to the social media platform.

This review contains massive episode spoilers.
Right before he blew up the bridge back in his final episode from the flagship series, a fatally-injured Rick Grimes uttered “I found them” before he was thrust into the chaos of the Civic Republic Military and stolen from his children’s lives for years. Three seasons and six jam-packed, spin-off episodes later, Rick has indeed finally found them, and the long journey of a sheriff from Atlanta faced with the end of the world has reached its conclusion.
“The Last Time” kicks off with a beautiful dynamic shot passing over a table filled with the remnants of an intensive planning session and candlelit dinner. Michonne and Rick are romantically enjoying the eve before their bold attack on the Civic Republic Military. Above all, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” has up-held its commitment to being a romance set within the zombie apocalypse.

Warning: The following contains mild spoilers for the Ghostbusters franchise.
Yes, Ghostbusters is a horror movie – gateway horror to be exact. Setting aside the fact that the title literally contains the word “ghost,” a foundational element of the scariest genre, the franchise follows a group of paranormal researchers who battle entities attacking from beyond the grave. After countless rewatches, the classic films and newer sequels may not scare us much anymore, but how many times have we as genre fans asserted that a film does not have to be “scary” to be considered horror?
Genre classification is nebulous and any film that centers on ghosts has a place in the sprawling house of horror. Yes, it’s true that most viewers over the age of thirteen will find more to laugh about than scream while watching a Ghostbusters film, but each entry contains a handful of terrifying moments. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” said Steven Spielberg today. “I am increasingly alarmed that we may be condemned to repeat history–to once again have to fight for the very right to be Jewish,” the Schindler’s List director added at an event Monday celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Spielberg founded Shoah Foundation.
“In the face of brutality and persecution, we have always been a resilient and compassionate people who understand the power of empathy,” Spielberg added to a full USC ballroom, including over 30 Holocaust survivors. “We can rage against the heinous acts committed by the terrorists of October 7th and also decry the killing of innocent women and children in Gaza.”

Receiving USC’s University Medallion at the packed lunch Monday, the Oscar winner’s poignant comments come as friction in the Middle East took another turn.

In 2001 and 2002, Jaroslav Stodola and his wife Dana Stodolová committed a series of violent robberies across the regions of Kutná Hora, Jindřichův Hradec and Svitavy, killing several people along the way. They would go on to give very different accounts of what happened. Petr Hátle’s drama, the first substantial fictional exploration of these events, does not endeavour to preserve that uncertainty, finding rather more to sympathise with in one of the characters than the other, but if one bears in mind that parts of it may be more fiction than fact, it’s an interesting character study, as well as one of the more unusual cinematic portraits of a marriage under stress.
Dana (Lucie Žáčková) and Jarda (Jan Hájek) – as she calls him – are not married when we first meet them. She’s the local beauty in a very small town and other men don’t understand what she’s.

So maybe Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire hasn’t exactly been a worthwhile installment in the ongoing franchise. But it has at least given fans another slice of nostalgia, bringing back the surviving core Ghostbusters, not to mention Janine and that dickless Walter Peck. But there are still a few familiar faces that are sorely missing. So, where were Dana and Louis? Well, it turns out they weren’t really even considered for returns.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Frozen Empire director Gil Kenan partly dodged why both Rick Moranis’ Louis Tully— the one-time possessed neighbor of Sigourney Weaver’s Dana Barrett, was absent. “That would be a Jason Reitman question. That was more of an Afterlife story. We never wrote a role for Louis Tully in Frozen Empire. We’ve got enough characters in this story. I love Tully by the way. I’m a huge Rick Moranis fan. In Hollywood, casting decisions can make or break a movie. Sometimes, the biggest roles almost end up in different hands, which changes the story. Take Ghostbusters, for example, the classic film with the guys chasing ghosts. Well, imagine if Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts were carrying those proton packs! Alongside them, crazy, right?
A still from Ghostbusters (1984)
We all know the Ghostbusters crew, isn’t that so? However, they might have looked totally different. Back in ’84, Ivan Reitman dropped this flick about a ghost-catching scientist in New York City, and it blew up. Fans and critics couldn’t get enough of it. Then, in 1989, a sequel was released, but it did not quite hit the same high notes.
Attempts to make a third Ghostbusters film persevered for quite a while, yet hit a roadblock with Harold Ramis’ passing in 2014. Paul Feig’s 2016 reboot of the franchise featured an all-female team with nods to the originals.

This weekend sees the release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Some will say this is the fourth Ghostbusters film, but of course, we all know it’s actually the fifth, as you have to count Paul Feig’s reboot to a certain extent. While critics have been cool on Gil Kenan’s addition to the franchise, fans seem to really be enjoying the film, which gives the Og Ghostbusters enhanced roles. All this got me thinking: what are the best Ghostbusters films? So, I had to do it – here’s my Ghostbusters Movies Ranked list. I’m sure this will inspire a little debate, so let me know what you think of this list in the comments below – even if you hate it. Note that this list is from worst to best.
Ghostbusters (2016):
Let me be clear: I didn’t hate Paul Feig’s female-led reboot as much as a lot of people did.

Fittingly enough given its subject matter, the Ghostbusters franchise can’t seem to stop haunting audiences no matter how many times it seems like and turns out to be a futile effort. Ghostbusters II is a lazy retread incited by one of the dumbest retcons in movie history, the 2016 reboot was bombarded by misogynistic online harassment before it ever got a proper shot, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife seemed to be under the delusion that the working class schmoes from the original were actually Jedi.
Yet despite all this, the attempts keep being made and Afterlife was enough of a box office success to warrant a follow-up in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire; set to hit theaters this coming weekend. And while the stacked cast of new and returning actors alongside the inspiration from The Real Ghostbusters animated series for its villains do make Frozen Empire feel like more of a substantial leap forward,...

Dana White was not always the CEO and president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He started running boxercise gyms in Boston with Golden Gloves champion Peter Welch. He moved to Las Vegas in the 1990s. In addition to running boxercise gyms, he also began training jiu-jitsu under the tutorship of John Lewis.
When White found out that the owner of the former parent company which owned UFC was interested in selling the company, he convinced Lorenzo Fertitta and his brother to invest in the company. In 2001, the former manager of mixed martial artists Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell became the president of UFC.
White started to build UFC from scratch and made it one of the highest-grossing businesses. Besides playing a major role in shaping the world of mixed martial arts, he is also known for his extravagant lifestyle.

Among all the bad TV show tropes, introducing random characters and asking the audience to care about them has to be one of the worst. Sure, it’s only the second episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, but this show is more of a continuation than a spin-off. It is piggybacking on the eleven seasons of The Walking Dead, where it was a ground rule that you can’t make friends easily. Yet, we see Michonne finding not one but three good people, and it takes about twenty minutes for the four to be inseparable. Of course, things don’t go well for the other three, as you would expect. After all, this is a story that belongs to Michonne and Rick Grimes- not Nat, Aiden, and Bailey.

American professional mixed martial artist Michael Chandler is making headlines for calling out Conor McGregor on the latest episode of WWE Monday Night Raw in Anaheim, California. This is not the first time McGregor has been challenged. New UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria challenged the Irishman during his UFC 298 post-fight interview.
McGregor has not appeared in any fights ever since he suffered a leg injury against Dustin Poirier in 2021 at UFC 264. Michael Chandler had also lost his last fight to Poirier at UFC 281 in 2022. Facing off against each other will give them both a chance to redeem themselves from their defeat to Poirier. Chandler has openly challenged McGregor to a fight.

Conor McGregor is an extremely loved and respected Mma fighter. While some may know him for his upcoming appearance in Jake Gyllenhall’s film, Road House, he has made a name for himself while fighting in the UFC, being a Featherweight and Lightweight Champion.
It is because of how loved and successful he is, that fans are distraught at the recently revealed lineup for the UFC 300.
Conor McGregor
While Dana White announced that McGregor will not be fighting until November this year, fans were hoping to persuade him through their support for the former champ. This, unfortunately, did not end up being the case as the fighters for the Main Event have been announced and McGregor’s name being missing is not a good sign.
