Does your Apple TV+ membership come and go with new seasons of “Ted Lasso”? [Jeff Foxworthy Voice:] Then you might be a “Show-Chaser.”
Serial churners are so 2023 — 2024 is the year of the show-chaser, according to research firm Antenna. These folks currently may be out hunting baby reindeer. In its first four days of availability, “Baby Reindeer” was viewed 2.6 million times, according to Netflix. The following week, its first full one, the limited series from (and starring) Richard Gadd exploded to 13.3 million views — more than a five-fold increase. That tally nearly doubled the next week to 22 million views.
“Baby Reindeer” is a sensation fueled by word of mouth — and by word on TikTok — the type that could singlehandedly bring Netflix some new subscribers. But these hypothetical members are not very likely to stick around; they’re show-chasers, an (at least) semi-undesirable subset of serial churners.

Travis Kelce is following in the footsteps of Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan by hosting a game show that features celebrities.
With that recent news, Strahan seems ready to assist Kelce in preparing him to host the new game show.
Kelce is reportedly adding that to his accomplishments, which include winning several Super Bowl rings with the Kansas City Chiefs, appearing on Saturday Night Live, and dating Taylor Swift.
After spending his career with just one team, the New York Giants, Strahan moved into various business ventures and television projects.
Those TV gigs include his work as an analyst on Fox NFL Sunday, co-anchor on ABC’s Good Morning America, and host of ABC’s rebooted The $100,000 Pyramid.
With that experience in hosting, he might be able to provide valuable insight to Kelce for his upcoming gig.

Recently, Sister Wives fans started to piece together some clues that point to Kody and Robyn Brown knowing each other sooner than the show discusses. Although they supposedly saw each other in a “chance” encounter, now fans think that wasn’t the case.
Kody And Robyn Brown’s Chance Meeting
As the story goes, Kody and Robyn Brown first met when Robyn was visiting her cousin, Reba. At the time, Reba went to the Brown’s church. Travis Kelce is considering how to gain yards on a new field of play.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end is in discussions to host a celebrity-focused reboot of the long-running game show “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” that would stream via Amazon Prime Video, according to two people familiar with the matter. The deal, if signed, would represent the football great’s latest move toward general entertainment after appearances on “Saturday Night Live,” the reality series “Catching Kelce” and a podcast he hosts with his brother, Jason.
Amazon Prime Video declined to make executives available for comment, and CAA, the agency that represents Kelce, could not be reached for immediate comment. There are some questions, according to the people familiar with discussions, about how much of a commitment Kelce could make to the venture if he continues playing football.

One of the ghostwriter’s most valuable skills is getting their subjects to talk. So, when I gathered L.A.’s most successful ghostwriters at the Formosa Cafe to gossip, they knew all my tricks. In desperation, I went with the most transparent of all reporting techniques — buying them all fruity cocktails.
A reputation for discretion is not only how they get work, but how they avoid getting sued; they sign nondisclosure agreements for every memoir they write. But even if they revealed nothing scandalous about their famous clients — or at least nothing that couldn’t be discovered with a Google search — I learned a lot about the curious craft of ghostwriting and the types of personalities drawn to help famous people tell their life stories. Also, I learned why I am far too egotistical to do their job.

The sharks themselves are the face of Shark Tank, defining the show’s image. Part of the fun is watching them interact with one another on the show through funny exchanges, as well as dramatic arguments. Shark Tank‘s Barbara Corcoran revealed the two fellow sharks that are her personal favorites to interact with.

On the debut episode of Real Time’s 21st Season on Friday, Bill Maher had a lot of lost time to make up for and a lot of low-hanging fruit to grab after weeks of being away.
“We’ve got a new Republican House,” Maher began. “It took them 15 ballots. I think the last time it happened was 1823 or something.”
Then he put an exclamation point on it: “Fifteen ballots to elect Kevin McCarthy.”
By contrast, he noted, “Oscar nominations come out Tuesday. I know Washington likes to look down their nose at Hollywood and I would agree: Awards shows are pointless virtue signaling. But we don’t need 15 ballots to get it done, ok?
“Apparently it looks like they’re saying the big odds-on favorite to win [Best Picture] is this movie — I don’t know if you’ve seen it — Everything Everywhere All At Once,” Maher said before waiting a...

Jimmy Fallon isn’t surprised that it took a prisoner swap with Russia to secure the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner this week. The late night host joked that “Prisoner Swap” is actually a very popular reality show under President Vladimir Putin.
On Thursday, it was announced that Griner would be released and sent home to the States, after almost a year of being detained in Russia. In exchange for her release, the U.S. released Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, known as the “merchant of death.” Bout was serving a 25-year sentence after conspiring to sell weapons meant to be used against Americans.
It was a controversial decision, drawing some backlash from those who worry it wasn’t a fair trade. But, Fallon wasn’t shocked at all, joking that it probably made for good television in Russia.

Mark Burnett has formally resigned from his top leadership role at MGM, a move that comes 10 months after Amazon closed its 8.5 billion acquisition of the studio.
Burnett’s departure from the MGM fold is not a surprise. The producer, known for enduring unscripted hits including CBS’ “Survivor,” NBC’s “The Voice” and ABC’s “Shark Tank,” has not served as a conventional TV executive during his nine years with MGM and was not expected to stick around after the sale.
Moreover, as a significant equity holder in MGM, Burnett profited handsomely from the Amazon deal. In the nine years since he first sold his One Three Media production banner to MGM, Burnett has reaped an estimated 900 million.
In a memo to MGM staffers, Burnett said he intended to pursue new ventures as a producer. He also emphasized that he worked hard to ensure that MGM TV’s roughly 150 staffers were...

It came down to the wire — the Emmys are next month, after all — but NBC and the Television Academy have finally found a host for this year’s ceremony: “Saturday Night Live” star Kenan Thompson.
Thompson, the longest-running cast member in “SNL” history, was named after a lengthy search by NBC, the Academy and Emmys producers Done+Dusted and Reggie Hudlin to find an A-list name that might shake things up. It turns out, the A-lister was in their own backyard. The telecast will air live Sept. 12 on NBC, and stream on Peacock as well.

Also debuting this month is the “Big Mouth” spinoff “Human Resources,” which “pulls back the curtain on the daily lives of the creatures – Hormone Monsters, Depression Kitties, Shame Wizards, and many more – that help humans journey through every aspect of life from puberty to childbirth to the twilight years.”

Jeff Foxworthy is known for his “You might be a redneck if…” jokes. (One payoff: “You run out of beer and call 9-1-1.”) But, says the Georgia native, “I’m more of a storyteller.” He proves it in his first solo act in two decades with Netflix‘s The Good Old Days. Your golden years are not what you expected, which you mine for laughs. Jeff Foxworthy: What sets you up is these commercials: the couple retiring and out on a sailboat. It never happened [for me]! But I wouldn’t trade my 60-year-old mind and soul for my 30-year-old body. (Credit: Courtesy of Netflix) Why did you call this The Good Old Days? My father-in-law was always talking about things being better then. I started listing things — toilets, beds, kitchens — and asking, “How is it now? How was it then?” How did you pick the jokes to put in the special?...

“The Masked Singer” season 6 is making history in more ways than one. There is the introduction of the “Take It Off Buzzer,” which allows the judges to halt the performance if they are convinced they know the name of the famous face inside the mask. And this marks the first time that there is a costume that is a human, albeit an over-sized infant with one tooth.
The Baby is one of the two Wildcards who debuted on the second episode of the super-sized premiere. He replaces Mother Nature (Vivica A. Fox) who was sent packing at the start of the show on September 23. Before Baby sang a note, we thought Jack Black was hidden inside this elaborate costume but changed our mind when we saw him perform. Keep reading for all “The Masked Singer” spoilers, including the answer to the question “Who is Baby”?

We’ve all heard the saying ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” but is it really true? A&e’s new series, What’s It Worth? sets out to answer that question. Hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, the show visits people across the country to find out how much some of their trinkets and heirlooms are worth. Some people have been hanging on to these items because they’ve always been told how valuable they are. In some cases, these items are worth more than anyone could have ever imagined, and in others they’re simply not worth anything at all. Either way, viewers will be

Primetime viewership for A&e Network has halved since the cable channel canceled “Live Pd” last month, bowing to pressure from groups who said the show glorified police. The scrapping of “Live Pd” came days after Paramount Network axed “Cops,” a cancellation that itself came days after George Floyd was killed by then-Minneapolis police office Derek Chauvin. A&e canceled “Live Pd” on June 10. From June 11 through July 19, a time period first looked into and reported on by the Wall Street Journal, A&e’s primetime viewership averaged 498,000 audience members, according to Nielsen. That was down a whopping 49% from the same weeks last year. “When you take one of the top series in cable off the network in the middle of a pandemic and only air mostly non-premiere programming, you’re obviously going to take a temporary hit in the ratings. It’s to be expected, but what has always set...

If someone asked you what recent pro wrestling superstar would probably win a major showbiz award first, your first thought might be Dwayne Johnson, who set aside his career as The Rock to become a movie star, arguably the most successful crossover ever from the WWE. But John Cena could actually beat him to the punch — or the body slam, as the case may be. He’s nominated for Best Game Show at the Daytime Emmys as an executive producer of Nickelodeon’s “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader,” which he also hosts.
A prime time version of “5th Grader” began in 2007 with comedian Jeff Foxworthy as host. It tested adults to see if they could answer questions taken from elementary school textbooks. Eventually the show transitioned to a daytime syndicated format. But it was off the air for several years before it was revived on the kids’ cable channel in 2019 headlined by Cena.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 3, episode 12 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired April 15 on Fox.
“The Masked Singer” took a breather this week, airing a special sing-a-long edition featuring performances by the show’s “Mighty Seven” finalists. That means, at least for this week, that none of the disguised celebrities were unmasked.
