Pitbull’s music video for the single “Jungle,” featured on his newly released Greatest Hits album, is out now—and it’s a visual feast. In the opening scene, artists Abraham Mateo, E-40 and Stereotypes roam an island jungle with a treasure map they believe will lead them to a secret party. The real party, of course, is way offshore on a cruise ship full of beautiful, scantily-clad women flanking all sides of Mr. Worldwide.
The production includes jet skiers breaking waves and models wearing nothing but body paint as they dance, interspersed with images of the rapper’s own vodka brand Voli.

Isabelle Huppert may the world’s best actress for playing strong, complex characters. From her star-making roles with directors Claude Chabrol (“La Cérémonie”) and Michael Haneke (“The Piano Teacher”) to last year’s Oscar nomination for “Elle,” she brings an enigmatic quality and psychological depth. Her incredible breadth is less measured by the variety of roles she’s played, but by the emotional range she brings to each.
“At one end you have the extreme of her suffering, and then you have her icy intellectualism,” said Haneke of Huppert in a 2001 interview. “No other actor can combine the two.” It sounds breathtakingly complex — unless, of course, you’re Isabelle Huppert. For her most recent film, “Mrs. Hyde” — a loose interpretation of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” directed by French critic-turned-director Serge Bozon — she downplayed the duality of the role and said she hardly noticed that she was playing a monster.

"The only thing more terrifying than the Western Front... is what lies beneath it." A trailer has debuted online for a Wwi zombie horror thriller film titled Trench 11. This indie horror has been playing at various genre film festivals the last few months, including Fantasy Filmfest in Germany and Toronto After Dark, but still doesn't have any Us distribution set yet. Trench 11 is about a special biological weapon the Germans developed that turns its victims into deranged killers. The plot follows a group of Allied soldiers stuck deep under ground trying to figure out and stop the spread of this dangerous, deadly disease/weapon. The film stars Rossif Sutherland, Karine Vanasse, Shaun Benson, Charlie Carrick, Ted Atherton, Adam Hurtig, Robert Stadlober, and Luke Humphrey. This looks dark, and gnarly, and very violent. Dig in. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Leo Scherman's Trench 11, direct from...

As a title for this week's episode of The Deuce, "Show and Prove" is a tough one to beat. Within its dirty world of 1971 Times Square, the phrase refers to the NYPD's demand for sex workers to produce paperwork proving they've already been arrested within the past 48 hours. This allows them a reprieve from the current night's "ho patrol" bust – a crime-stopping tactic so familiar that the police and prostitutes all order Chinese takeout and eat it in the precinct house's courtyard together.

As we previously reported, the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! ride at Disneyland's California Adventure is getting a makeover for Halloween. It's called Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark and a new piece of concept art has been revealed showing another creature that Thor, Hulk, and his team will have to battle in Thor: Ragnarok. That creature is Surtur's Dragon, and he looks pretty wicked.
Fenris Wolf and Surtur himself have already made appearances in trailers, but this is the first time we've seen Surtur's Dragon. It's kind of crazy to think that a Dragon is going to be introduced in the McU. It'll be fun to see how the dragon will be utilized in the film.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins. Here’s the official synopsis:

Surtur’s dragon has been unleashed…no thanks to Disneyland’s forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy ride.
The “Monsters After Dark” adventure begins September 15th and continues through until October 31st, hence the nod toward Halloween. But Surtur’s fire-spewing beast will soon be of great importance to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and, in particular, Thor: Ragnarok, as it’s set to feature in Taika Waititi’s galactic threequel come November.
It’s one of two mythical creatures included in Ragnarok – you know, aside from the God of Thunder and Mark Ruffalo’s volatile Hulk – after those who combed through the film’s showcase at San Diego Comic-Con spotted the Incredible Hulk getting to grips with Fenris Wolf. By the looks of things, that brawl takes place on Asgard’s Rainbow Bridge, so there’s a good chance Marvel has reserved that particular clash for Thor: Ragnarok‘s mind-melting climax.

The following essay was produced as part of the 2017 Locarno Critics Academy, a workshop for aspiring film critics that took place during the 70th edition of the Locarno Film Festival.
Two Chinese independent films—Wang Bing’s Golden Leopard-winning “Mrs. Fang” and Xu Bing’s “Dragonfly Eyes”— competed for the Golden Leopard at this year’s Locarno International Film Festival (both played Tiff a few weeks later). Wang and Xu are established names whose works speak to the intersection between cinema and contemporary art. Both of their films belong to the category of experimental/conceptual documentary, and together they provide distinctive windows into contemporary Chinese society. At the same time, the differences between them couldn’t be any greater. They are formal opposites: when handling images of the real, Wang is minimalist, and abstinent, austere, while Xu is maximalist, provocative and melodramatic.

Locarno isn’t just home to a major European film festival. It’s also an ideal place for many Swiss and foreign families to travel in summer and enjoy its hot weather, pleasant cuisine, and serene lake. This makes it a terrific place for contemplating new movies.
Ironically, during the 70th edition of the Locarno Film Festival, many of the films outwardly questioned the value of traditional family life. Many viewers encountered the puzzling contrast of watching subversive movies, leaving the screening rooms, and watching very conventional heterosexual families enjoying their vacations. But this only made the power of these movies stand out.

The Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission Breakout! ride may have just opened at Disneyland's California Adventure this past May, but they are already planning to give it a big Halloween makeover!
The ride is being transformed into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark and it will feature a new storyline that revolves around Rocket Raccoon and Groot. I haven't even been on the ride yet, but I'm familiar with the story. It finds Rocket Raccoon and the rest of the team trapped in The Collector's fortress and the riders assist with a daring escape, which involves some big drops.
Here is some information on how the experience will be changed for Halloween thanks to Disney Parks:
Your adventure picks up moments after the events of the popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! attraction. The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress, but they have accidentally left Groot behind!

The 2017 Locarno Film Festival recently wrapped its 70th edition, where several aspiring film critics participated in the latest edition of the Locarno Critics Academy, an international workshop to educate promising writers in the craft and discipline of contemporary film criticism. This year’s participants will contribute essays on highlights from the festival. Here’s an overview of their backgrounds and interests.
Name: Jaime Grijalba Gómez
Age: 27
Twitter handle: @jaimegrijalba
Home: Santiago de Chile, Chile.
Cinematic area of expertise: Chilean cinema, film festivals, horror cinema
Best movie you’ve seen in 2017: El mar la mar
Favorite book (or piece of writing) about film: Bresson’s “Notes on the Cinematographer”
I’m taking part in the Locarno Critics Academy because… I want to think that criticism today still has a role that goes beyond those interested in film or in making them. It has a role in society, and I want to find it.

For many kids, there's nothing scarier than "back to school" commercials, and with another autumn nearly upon us, the streaming service Shudder has highlighted a set of horror films that are perfect for that time of year when trapper keepers (they're still a thing, right?) and backpacks are in high demand. Also in today's Horror Highlights is another contest from our friends at Comet TV, initial details on the Windy City Horrorama, release info for Bad Exorcists, and the short horror film Lost Soul.
Shudder's "Back to School" Collection: "Pop Quiz: What's a synonym for "hell".? Answer: School - at least for the kids in these tales of homeroom horror. They've got to deal with twisted teachers, ghoulish gym classes and phantom pep rallies, all before lunch. A few hours with these scared students and you'll soon be praying for the bell to ring."

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: Which lesser known network or streaming service deserves more love? Why?
Damian Holbrook (@damianholbrook), TV Guide Magazine
I just wrote about this for TVInsider.com! Recently, I am obsessed with truTV, which has unleashed two of my favorite summer programs: “The Chris Gethard Show” and Andrea Savage’s perfect “I’m Sorry.” The first is the “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” of live late-night talk shows featuring the supremely likable comedian and the second, sort of a “Curb Your Enthusiasm” for suburban marrieds, Finally gives Savage a chance to carry a show after years of scene-stealing support. Originally designed as a true-crime network, the rebranding to comedy (and edgy comedy at that!

Shot on 35mm film and adapted from Marian Churchland’s stirring untitled graphic novella that was a part of the indie comic compilation “Meathaus S.O.S.,” Will Blank’s long-gestating — it was an IndieWire Project of the Day way back in 2015 — new short “Limbo” is a stunner that asks (and perhaps even answers) some big questions with the maximum of elegance and the minimum of time.
Directed by Blank and penned by the director and Richard Kaponas, the film stars “Riverdale” and “Looking” standout Raul Castillo alongside a magical dog (no, really) voiced by Hollywood legend Sam Elliott (currently enjoying a bit of a resurgence thanks to his recent role in “The Hero”). The film has screened at a number of festivals, including Fantasia, Fantastic Fest, and Toronto After Dark, and has even earned some famous fans along the way — including Guillermo del Toro, who billed it as an “excellent short.

[[tmz:video id="0_x12g77na"]] Blac Chyna surrounded herself with all kinds of asses -- it's really the only way to properly judge a twerking contest. BC was at the newly renovated Pool After Dark at Harrah's in Atlantic City over the weekend to rule on important stuff ... like asses shaking. I was 12 years old in 1968. One of my favorite places was the library, in those days the closest library to us was the Tesson Ferry Branch in South St. Louis County. My most prized possession was my library card.
My Mother used to drop me off there on a Saturday or a summer weekday and I would spend the whole day reading. One of those days I pulled a book off the shelf called Hitchcock/Truffaut and sat down to read it. I knew who Alfred Hitchcock was from his television show, and from his monthly Mystery Magazine as well as anthologies that I was reading avidly, Tales That Frightened Even Me, More Tales for the Nervous and, my favorite, Stories to be Read After Dark.
