Get ready to return to Cousins Beach.

Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty will debut in summer 2025, creator Jenny Han announced during Amazon’s Upfront presentation on Tuesday. While not many details on the third installment were given, Han did also reveal that Season 3 will be expanded to consist of 11 episodes.

Season 2 consisted of eight episodes, while Season 1 boasted just seven episodes.

Production on Season 3 is currently underway. Series stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno joined Han on stage Tuesday to share a bit about how filming is going.

“I’m really excited to see what comes next for all of us in the show itself, especially for Jeremiah and Belly’s final moments in Season 2,” Casalegno said.

Amazon, during its upfront presentation Tuesday in New York, revealed that the third season of its popular take on Jenny Han’s beloved young adult book trilogy will not air until 2025.

Additionally, Amazon revealed that the third season — formally announced last August — will consist of 11 episodes. That’s up from the previously announced 10 and a high for the show after seasons one and two featured seven and eight installments, respectively.

Season three of Summer was greenlit ahead of both the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes last year. Jenna Fischer put her acting skills to the test on the set of 2024’s Mean Girls. The actress revealed this week she filmed the movie with a broken shoulder.

“I shot for one day on Mean Girls, and then I didn’t have to shoot for a month,” Fischer told People. “And in that month I went on a ski trip and I fell on a sidewalk and I broke my shoulder. So I had to shoot the rest of the movie with a very newly broken shoulder.”

An adaptation of the Broadway musical based on the 2004 film, Tina Fey’s latest rendition of the high school comedy surpassed $100 million at the global box office after six weeks of release. It held the top spot at the domestic box office for three consecutive weeks following its Jan. 12 release. “Mean Girls” was originally slated to debut directly on Paramount+, however executives decided on a theatrical release after enthusiastic test screenings.

Taking on the role Lindsay Lohan originated, Angourie Rice stars as Cady Heron, who is forced to navigate high school politics for the first time after moving from Africa to the suburbs of Illinois. She soon encounters and infiltrates the Plastics, the most popular clique in school ruled by queen bee Regina George.

A joke from Mean Girls which Lindsay Lohan pushed back against seems to be missing from at-home versions of the film released last week.

The movie musical version of the film, which began as Tina Fey’s beloved 2004 movie starring Lohan and then went to Broadway before making its way back to the screen this year, became available on digital platforms last week after its theatrical debut in January.

The film, which opened 2024 with a bang at the box office, featured a cameo from Megan Thee Stallion telling Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) that “Y2K fire crotch is back.”

In 2006, a TMZ video made headlines for oil empire heir Brandon Davis’ insulting comments about Lohan, which included him referring to the actress as a “fire crotch.”

The controversial joke is now missing from some versions of the film’s digital release, including an edition rented from Amazon by The Hollywood Reporter.

The oh-so pink movie musical has generated $101.2 million worldwide after six weeks of release, including $71.2 million in North America and $30 million from 31 international territories.

Based on the Broadway adaptation of the 2004 comedy classic, “Mean Girls” was originally commissioned with plans to make a streaming debut directly on Paramount+, but executives opted for a theatrical release after enthusiastic test screenings. The musical film cost just $36 million.

“Mean Girls” held the No. 1 spot at the domestic box office for three consecutive weeks after its release on Jan. 12, as well as earned No. 1 openings in the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and Mexico. The film expanded to Thailand on Feb. 15 and will open in Singapore and India later this month.

It’s a badge of honor for a movie to be made into a stage musical. It’s an even bigger badge of honor for that musical to be adapted back into a movie of its own. But here we are – 20 years after Mean Girls hit theaters and six years after the show hit Broadway, Mean Girls the musical is now a movie.

Paramount’s “Mean Girls,” a musical adaptation and more Gen Z-skewing version of the iconic teen comedy, is coming to the big screen this weekend. It has made $3.25 million at the box office in Thursday previews.

The 2024 film is based on the popular 2018 Broadway musical, which is based on the 2004 comedy, which is based on the 2002 book “Queen Bees and Wannabees.” The new version stars Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, the homeschooled fish out of water originally played by Lindsay Lohan. She joins a new school and befriends The Plastics, the “cool girl” squad played in this reimagining by Renee Rapp, Bebe Wood and Avantika — who take over from Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfriend.

After a late start to its fourth season and behind-the-scenes turmoil, The Drew Barrymore Show has received and early, drama-free renewal for a fifth season on the CBS Stations.
