There is nothing good that can come from running into a guy with a big silver plate fused onto his head. Nothing. And if you don't believe me, you need only to flip to your Video On Demand menu and order up ChromeSkull: Laid To Rest 2. That's right, the knock-out film released at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 is now available in the comfort of your home.
The people have spoken and demanded a chance to see this uber-bloody sequel to the popular original, and Image Entertainment responded. Come on, you know we've all got an affinity for shiny things, and with a tag line like "Death Polished," who wouldn't be rushing to their television to check this one out?
Nick Principe returns to portray ChromeSkull and brings Brian Austin Green, Johnathon Schaech, Thomas Dekker and Danielle Harris with him. Check it out!

Forget Jason, Freddy, Michael, and all of the rest. There is only one group out there who knows how to cut deeper than anyone else, the MPAA. Recently Rob Hall's upcoming film ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 went before them, and guess what?!?
They immediately slapped the movie with the dreaded Nc-17 rating. Having already seen the movie, I can tell you as a fact there's no way this wasn't going to happen. Ltr 2 is riddled with some of the most insane bits of violence and kills we've ever seen. Not kidding either. This flick is Nuts, and we love it!
When reached for comment about the rating, director Hall chimed in with the following ...
"I think it's great the MPAA had a problem with almost every kill in the film", says Hall. "If they didn't, we wouldn't have done our jobs correctly. They have a job to do,...

With Screamfest La celebrating its 11th anniversary this fall (the venerated Los Angeles film festival spearheaded by Rachel Belofsky runs October 14-23 in Hollywood, CA), the fest hosted another of its monthly mixers this past Thursday, March 12, and we were there to snap a few photos and chat with the filmmakers in attendance.
On hand for the event (which took place at Hollywood Boulevard’s tequila bar Te’Kila) were FX artist and reality TV star Frank Ippolito (who teased that his short flick ‘Night of the Little Dead’ is slated for a fest debut in the near future), Kiss Before the Slaughter director John Elfers, Hell’s Belles filmmaker Christian Ackerman, producer Drina Durazo and actor Luke Thompson.
Also in attendance were Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 actress Allison Kyler and that flick’s producer Chang Tseng and director (and Almost Human Efx guru) Robert Hall, the latter of whom...

Last year the direct to DVD horror movie Laid To Rest was a surprise hit among horror fans everywhere, and like any successful horror film a sequel is on the way… From the official press release:
In 2009, writer/director Robert Hall (Lightning Bug, Fear Clinic) introduced horror fans to a new face of horror: ChromeSkull, the mysterious and relentless killer who hunts down young women and records their grisly demises, all while donning a iconic silver skull mask and a video camera strapped to his shoulder. And while it may have seemed like ChromeSkull was dead at the end of the first Laid to Rest, every horror fan knows that evil never really dies.
Now Hall and the rest of the team behind the original are getting ready to take their modern slasher franchise to a boiling point. ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 will begin principal photography on November 1st in Los Angeles.

Every year Comic-Con is a beast of a project to keep you guys informed and up-to-date on, and in most cases it requires a small army to do it justice. At this point I'd like to acknowledge the Dread Central soldiers who made it all happen.
Thanks to Paul Nomad, who worked tirelessly to make sure we didn't miss a thing. Thanks to DC co-founders Jon Condit and Kw Low, who worked their fingers to the bone running all over the place. Thanks to Heather...

In his short but sweet reign of terror in the impressive Anchor Bay direct to DVD horror film Laid To Rest, serial killer Chrome Skull rampages through a small town wiping out everyone in his path. While he never catches the elusive, nameless girl he's pursuing, he does something even Terminator and The Persians couldn't do: He terminates 300's Lena Headey!
By the ending, it appeared that ol' Chrome Skull was deader than Disco--broken neck, crushed head, it looked like he slipped off this mortal coil and was wiped out. Of course, Jason, Freddy and Godzilla were all wiped out, too.
The cheerful Chang Tseng (pictured right), who produced Laid with his and Rob Hall's Dry County Films, is happy to report that "Chrome Skull is Not dead! We are doing Laid To Rest #2 and #3, so I guess he did not die after all...We have the treatment and concept for the sequels,...

The thrumming beat is the first thing you notice outside the Alhambra soundstage, as the lights flash like a mad scientist's lab. It grows louder and louder, the bass bringing life to the darkened street, making leaves twitch. As you enter, you see a spiky haired guy in metal gauntlets and futuristic garb, thrashing and gyrating in a room littered with robot parts and helmets.
Since the guy resembles a young Billy Idol, you realize it can only be Spider One, lead singer of the great metal band Powerman 5000. The band uniquely blends powerful songs around sci-fi and horror concepts. The new video is one of the more ambitious tracks on their new album, Somewere On The Other Side Of Nowhere.
He gestures at the carnage around the set.
"The song is called 'Supervillain'," explains Spider. "The video opens on the last punch of an epic battle as the superhero takes out the supervillain.

Taking on a web series may seem like a step back in a director’s career, but not for Robert Hall. He saw the opportunity to do something new and different with “Fear Clinic” and perhaps even change the game in terms of internet-based horror content.
“I know that there’s still a stigma that comes with doing a web series but I want to change that,” explained Hall. “I really feel like with “Fear Clinic” that we’re doing something special. I want this to be unique and for viewers to appreciate the work we’ve put into it just the same as if we were making a movie.”
“Fear Clinic” definitely has all the makings of a big-budget horror film. The series, which was created for FEARnet, boasts an impressive cast which includes genre icons Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris, and Lisa Wilcox.
The series centers around Dr.

“I ultimately wanted to make a movie with my wife and my friends. I know it’s a ‘guy in a mask chasing a girl’ movie, but I wanted to see how good we could make that with nothing. Is it high-concept? Not really. But I hope it’s entertaining, and what I also hope is that people have a tolerance for story and character.”
Writer/director Robert Hall made those comments about Laid To Rest (out on DVD this week from Anchor Bay) in Fangoria #282, which features ChromeSkull, the film’s “guy in a mask,” on the cover. And while yes, Rest is entertaining, and yes, it does have likable characters, its story weaknesses ultimately weigh it down.
The film starts off interestingly enough, with a Girl (whose name is never given and is played by Bobbi Sue Luther, Hall’s wife) waking up in a coffin in a morgue,...
