When a recent magazine all about YouTubers was unleashed, it was met with genuine confusion by anyone over the age of 25 who doesn't have kids. If you didn't already know, vlogging is a big deal.
Take Alfie Deyes, who is the boyfriend of fellow vlogger Zoe Sugg aka Zoella, the UK's highest-profile blogger whose novel was the fastest-selling debut ever last year. When the two appear together in one video, it's the YouTube equivalent of Adele duetting with Beyoncé. They're getting their own Madame Tussauds waxworks and even formed part of Band Aid 30, for crying out loud.
He's become one of the most popular stars among children and young adults for his PointlessBlog channel, a series which sees him chat about his life and do fun challenges. Nicola Sturgeon thinks that the BBC should make shows for a mass audience.
The First Minister of Scotland made the comments during this year's Edinburgh International TV Festival earlier today (August 27).
Armando Iannucci passionately defends the BBC: 'Dismantling it is mad and British public won't be bullshitted'
Speaking at the event, Sturgeon said: "It is important to have a strong and independent BBC. Its services are valued by viewers. And so we want charter renewal to improve the BBC rather than diminish it."
The politician went on to say: "The BBC should continue to provide mass-audience programming.
"If the BBC does nothing except find niches that aren't served by commercial broadcasters, it risks losing the widespread popular support on which all of its wider programming rests."
Sturgeon also argued that a new BBC Scotland TV channel should be introduced to deliver a "wider and richer" variety of content for Scottish viewers.

Considering that every little thing that Kate Middleton does makes international headlines, you'd think she would be the most popular member of the British royal family. However, a new poll conducted by Newsweek revealed that she's not the top pick for British adults - in fact, she's not even in the top three! The survey found that Prince Harry is the most popular member of the British royal family, with 20 percent of respondents listing him as their top choice. He was followed by Queen Elizabeth II, who got 17 percent of the vote, and then Prince William, who was named the top pick by 10 percent of respondents. The Duchess of Cambridge came in fourth place with only nine percent of the vote. (It should be said that the most popular response was "I don't have a favorite member of the royal family," which got 32 percent of the vote.) The newest poll...

"Lost" and "Lord of the Rings" star Dominic Monaghan participated in a livestream today along with director Henry Hobson to talk about his participation in 2K Games' web series promoting "The Bureau: Xcom Declassified," offering some details on 50's-style cool, battling the elements in thin shoes, and choosing the bottle over the gun (you'll get it if you've seen the web series).
Interesting note: the first short, "The Burn Room," was only supposed to be that: a standalone short promoting the upcoming shooter. However, fan response was so strong that 2K Games opted to expand it into a web series. Series director Henry Hobson says that when he took on the project, he wanted to expand on the story of Kevin, the unfortunate boy on the bike scene in "The Burn Room," leading to the short "Orbit and the Asteroids," and what would later become part of the story's overarching "Pima Incident.

London, Dec 18: Three quarters of British women have said that a figure with a small waist balanced by larger breasts and hips is the ideal figure, a new survey has revealed.
They said that rather than wanting to emulate the stick thin figures of Kate Moss, most of them would prefer to have the figures of curvier celebrities like Kelly Brook, Holly Willoughby, Beyonce and Kate Winslet.
The survey, undertaken on behalf of Debenhams, found that most women were less concerned with becoming a model size eight or ten and instead wanted a figure that "goes in and out."
Almost a fifth of respondents said that they wanted a body with defined muscles, like Olympian Jessica Ennis, or Victoria Pendleton.
Just six percent.

Who would dare to diss the duchess? Jessica Ennis, if you believe the British tabloids. The heptathlon Olympic great was presented with an award by Kate Middleton at the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year Awards on Sunday, and she didn't accept the pregnant princess's extended hand. In a clip from the show, Kate, 30, and Jessica, 26, are both seen smiling and chatting with each other on the stage. After Prince William's wife hands the athlete her heavy-looking trophy, she can be seen attempting a handshake. Jessica, however, doesn't reciprocate Kate's kind gesture, and the ravishing royal plays it cool. The mum-to-be keeps smiling, then gracefully lowers her hand. If you...

Kate Middleton looked like she was feeling much better during her first public appearance since being hospitalized for hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness. She presented awards at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and if her pregnancy was making her feel under the weather, she showed no signs of it.
Wearing a green Alexander McQueen dress, Middleton looked stunning. It seems as though bed rest has done her well, and it's reported that Middleton's appearance at the show wasn't decided until the last minute. She presented the Lifetime Achievement awards with David Beckham to athletes like Lord Seb Coe, Jessica Ennis and Bradley Wiggins.
If you had hoped Middleton would use the public podium to speak out about the death of receptionist Jacintha Saldanha, you're out of luck. Middleton didn't publicly speak during the show, though she did talk to the awards recipients. This appearance comes...
