Update: Donald Trump offered a fusillade of unfounded claims and falsehoods in his interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, who seems to have gone into the sit down with a strategy to challenge the former president on certain topics and move on at other moments.
“Why did you have this very sensitive national security defense documents, like the war plans for a strike on Iran?” Baier asked, referring to a central claim by federal prosecutors in last week’s indictment.
Trump responded, “So like every other president, I take things out, and in my case I took it out pretty much in a hurry but people packed it up and we left. I had clothing in there. I had all sorts of personal items, and they are much, much stuff.” He then went on to bashing his former attorney general William Barr, insisting that he fired him “because he didn...

Adam McKay is taking aim at the “mad evil” of Exxon in a new spoof short film speaking out on climate change.
The “Don’t Look Up” director produced “A Love Letter to Exxon from Darth Vader,” helmed by Alice Park. “A long time ago, in our own galaxy, ExxonMobil knew that their product would destroy our planet,” the synopsis reads. “But instead of warning the public, they lied about the climate crisis so they could make trillions in profits. That’s mad evil. The type of evil that someone like Darth Vader respects. It’s sort of like the (very real) friendship medal that Vladimir Putin gave former Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson for helping expand Russian oil and gas production and fuel their war machine.”

There is one thing to be said for Seneca — On the Creation of Earthquakes, which has its world premiere in Berlin this week. It may be the first major film set in ancient Rome in a couple of decades. But those who are hoping for a vivid adventure like Gladiator or Spartacus or even a campy hoot like Quo Vadis will be sorely disappointed by this bizarre effort to create a historical fantasia. John Malkovich has a rare starring role and acquits himself solidly enough. But it is harder to understand what motivated director Robert Schwentke, who has some successful films to his credit (The Time Traveler’s Wife, Red, the Divergent series) but adds no luster to his resume with this head-scratcher.
Schwentke was born in Germany but has made most of his films in Hollywood. This German-financed effort was filmed primarily in Morocco and showcases a cast from all over the world,...

You can still see the faint outline of Trump’s name on the facade of Washington, D.C.’s Old Post Office, which from the year of the former president’s election to this May was home to the Trump International Hotel. Sitting just down the street from the White House, it was the location where, according to accounting documents obtained by the House Oversight Committee, foreign dignitaries and governments paid upwards of $10,000 a night to stay while Trump was in office.

The book has got mixed reviews from the US media, but the New York Times has almost trashed the book in a critical review.
Jared Kushner, married to the Trump’s favourite daughter Ivanka Trump, distances himself from the events of January 6, 2021, when a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol to try to stop Congress’ Electoral College vote count of the 2020 election results sealing Trump’s defeat.
Kushner wrote that he was flying back to Washington, D.C., from Saudi Arabia when he got a call from attorney Eric Herschman saying rioters had stormed the Capitol. But Kushner’s assessment of the riot, which led to multiple deaths and scores of injuries, is that the White House could not have known there would be violence that day.

Freshly acquitted of impeachment charges, President Trump has circled back around to complaining about the Mueller investigation. Last week it was what he deemed a too-harsh sentencing recommendation for former adviser Roger Stone, as well as the Justice Department’s decision not to prosecute former FBI Director Andrew McCabe. This week he’s broadened his attacks to include everyone involved in the special counsel’s investigation. They all need to be investigated, Trump has telegraphed to his tens of millions of Twitter followers.

Mick Mulvaney, President Trump’s acting chief of staff, said the quiet part out loud last week regarding the administration’s dealings with Ukraine.
“We do that all the time with foreign policy,” he told reporters after one pointed he’d just admitted to a quid pro quo when he explained the U.S. delivering military aid was contingent on investigations relevant to Trump’s political agenda. After the press conference concluded, Mulvaney attempted to walk back the comments by flatly denying he’d said what everyone heard (and recorded) him say flatly hours earlier.

“It is called ‘fair and balanced,’ Mr. President,” Cavuto added, “yet it is fair to say you are not a fan when the balance includes stuff you don’t like to hear or facts you don’t like to have questioned. You are only human, I get that. Who likes to be corrected? But you are the president. It comes with the job — just like checking what you say and do comes with my job.

No one wanted President Trump to pulled the United States out of the Iran nuclear deal. The agreement signed by President Obama held that Iran would get rid its nuclear fuel in exchange for the U.S. waiving the sanctions that had crippled the nation’s economy. Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York hammered President Donald Trump’s former fixer on Friday, recommending that Michael Cohen get a “substantial term of imprisonment.”
Minutes later, Special Counsel Robert Mueller filed a separate memo on Cohen, in which specific jail time is not recommended. The Mueller memo recommended Cohen’s sentence should reflect that he lied to investigators but also take into consideration his eventual cooperation. Although he wasn’t specific as to what would exonerate him, it’s likely he was referring to the Cohen situation.

At&T is looking to bolster its presence in Washington, hiring Margaret Peterlin — who was an aide for former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson — as senior vice president, global external and public affairs.
Peterlin served as Tillerson’s chief of staff during his rocky tenure as President Trump’s Secretary of State. She will report to David McAtee, At&T’s general counsel.
“This is a new position as McAtee organizes his team to match the needs of a modern media company, particularly with WarnerMedia’s global reach,” said an At&T spokesperson. “Peterlin brings both private-sector and government leadership experience to At&T and is a welcomed addition to the E&La team.”

Former State Department chief of staff Margaret Peterlin has been hired by At&T in a newly created external and public affairs executive post.
Peterlin will have the title Senior Vice President-Global External and Public Affairs, reporting to David McAtee, At&T’s general counsel. She had been a key lieutenant to Rex Tillerson during the former Secretary of State’s rocky year in the cabinet.
The hire is part of a revamp of the company’s formidable lobbying operation following the embarrassing disclosure that it had paid Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s scandal-plagued former attorney, as a consultant. Word about Cohen’s hiring got out at the worst possible time for the company, during the climax of the high-stakes trial of a government antitrust lawsuit over its acquisition of Time Warner. CEO Randall Stephenson’s reaction came swiftly.

Tina Fey, who confessed to joining Saturday Night Live as a writer 20 years ago (in case you were feeling young), returned to host the finale to the show’s 43rd season. (Watch select clips below.)
The night didn’t prove to be a comedic peak for the show, which has had its ups and downs this year. Despite a valiant effort from returning host Tina Fey, Saturday Night Live‘s 43rd season went out with (mostly) a whimper.

Dem Sen. Cory Booker pressed wannabe Secretary of State Mike Pompeo as to whether he would break from President Donald Trump in his position about freedom of the press.
“This administration’s treatment of the press has been adversarial, let’s say, at the least,” Booker said.
“That’s a generous way of putting it,” Booker admitted, clarifying, it more accurately should be described as “vicious.”
Taking the hearing down Memory Lane, Booker reminded Pompeo it started on Trump’s first day in office when he attacked the media for its accurate reporting on his inauguration crowd size. Trump has called the press the enemy of the people, Booker said. Trump’s ‘Fake News’ tirades have “become almost a meme of sort in our country” as well as “around the planet where we have journalists imprisoned at a pretty significant rate that is at an historic high.”

“SNL” continues to fire away at American politics and culture in Season 43, with no shortage of ammunition coming from Donald Trump and the rest of the White House staff.
This week marks the return of “Saturday Night Live” after a three-week break, with “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman hosting the episode, and Cardi B serving as musical guest.
Former “SNL” alumnus Bill Hader hosted the last new episode of “SNL” before the break, with indie rock band Arcade Fire filling the role of musical guest. The episode also featured guest appearances by John Goodman as former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, and “SNL” alumnus Fred Armisen, playing “Fire and Fury” author Michael Wolff.

Prior to Hader, “This is Us” actor Sterling K. Brown hosted, fresh off his Prime-Time Emmy win for his turn on the hit show and a role in “Black Panther,” with singer-songwriter James Bay as musical guest. Before that, basketball great Charles Barkley served as host, with musical guest Migos. That episode also saw Alec Baldwin reprising his role as Trump, which is only the second time in 2018 he’s played the role.
Natalie Portman played host for the first “SNL” episode to air following the hiatus for the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, with musical guest Dua Lipa, on Feb. 3. Before Portman’s episode, which was her second turn as host, it had been a while since she was on the show — her last hosting turn was in 2006, and made a cameo on the show in 2012.
Portman’s episode marked the first time in 2018 that Alec Baldwin reprised his role as Donald Trump. He appeared in the episode’s cold open, in which Trump called into a parody version of Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” a show the real president seems to watch pretty consistently.

Riffing on a gag from her 2006 hosting turn, Portman also took part in a “Star Wars”-infused rap in her latest episode.
Before Portman’s episode, another host returned to the show after a long hiatus — “SNL” alumnus Will Ferrell, who left the show way back in 2002. His Jan. 27 episode marked Ferrell’s fourth turn as host for the show in the last 16 years, and his first return to lead the show since 2012. Singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton took on the role of musical guest, ahead of his appearance Sunday playing at 2018 Grammy Awards.

Before that, basketball great Charles Barkley served as host, with musical guest Migos. That episode also saw Alec Baldwin reprising his role as Trump, which is only the second time in 2018 he’s played the role.

“Keep politicians off ‘DWTS’!” That’s what a whopping 48% of fans said when we asked if fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson should join a future season of ABC’s reality TV show “Dancing with the Stars.” However, the results of our poll weren’t unanimous, as 37% voted “Yes — he’d make for great TV!” The other 15% were non-committal, saying “Let me think about it.” Do You think Tillerson should be cast on “DWTS”? Sound off down in the comments section.
President Donald Trump fired Tillerson on Tuesday via tweet, simultaneously announcing that Tillerson’s replacement would be CIA Director Mike Pompeo. Any other presidential firing would be yuuuge news, but America has become desensitized to members of the Trump team leaving following a long line of ousters like economic director Gary Cohn, communications director Hope Hicks, Trump aide Rob Porter, FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, chief strategist Steve Bannon,...

Each episode of Saturday Night Live is its own beast, complete with its own rhythms. There's zero predictability about what will unfold, which is precisely of the point of its inherent architecture. On paper, having Bill Hader return to Studio 8H to host should have been a slam dunk. Instead, what unfolded was a curiously stilted affair in which actual live content seemed few and far between.
For someone who used to dominate the show when on, Hader often faded into the background this week. Part of that had to...

Saturday Night Live truly stepped up its game for Bill Hader’s comeback, delivering what was arguably one of the best episodes of the season — if not the best.
The fan favorite’s return to Studio 8H marked his second hosting stint since departing the sketch comedy series in 2013 — though he did return last summer to play Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci during Weekend Update: Summer Edition. He reprised that role during Saturday’s cold open, which also featured John Goodman and Fred Armisen. It was one of a handful of characters he brought back, including Weekend Update city correspondent Stefon.

The #MeToo movement made it to Canada in an “SNL” sketch that found host Bill Hader as the extremely polite “Canadian Harvey Weinstein.” Hader plays fictional Canadian movie producer Thomas Logan, responsible for such hits in Canada as “Y’Don’t Say,” “It Happened at Tim Hortons,” and “Dave: The Dave Thomas Story, Starring Dave Foley.” “Yeah, I’ve heard all these accusations against me, and I’m here to say, it’s all true,” Hader’s Logan says in an interview on CBC News Hour. “Definitely abused my power.” Also Read: 'SNL': John Goodman's Rex Tillerson Lashes Out Over Being Fired, Yells 'Trump Is a Moron' “Can you...

Ann Coulter is screwing with us, maybe, because it's hard to believe some of the comments she made to our photog are for real. We got the always unapologetic Coulter Saturday leaving Nate N' Al's Deli in Bev Hills, and she not only defended the firing of Andrew McCabe just days before his pension fully vested, she said she would have screwed with him and given him the boot just hours before he would have been home free.

NBC’s Late Night host Seth Meyers noted Rex Tillerson, who President Donald Trump fired-by-Twitter on Tuesday, was not a great Secretary of State, having the energy of a 14-year-old bloodhound on his third mint julep. But, Meyers told Trump, “if you’re going to fire cabinet secretaries for being bad at their jobs, let me refer you to [Education Secretary] Betsy DeVos’s appearance on 60 Minutes. Another Tuesday means another high profile exit from Donald Trump’s White House — this time it was Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who was fired via tweet Tuesday morning. With that being the big news of the day and the continuation of the unprecedented turnover rate in the Trump administration, Trevor Noah spent a large chunk of Tuesday’s opening segment of “The Daily Show” cracking jokes about it. “President Trump has fired Secretary of State and human grumpy cat Rex Tillerson. Tuesday had two major political items everyone had to care about: Trump firing his secretary of state and the special congressional election in Pennsylvania. With those election results still in limbo late into Tuesday night, that meant Rex Tillerson was the clear-cut topic of conversation for late-night hosts on Tuesday. When President Trump visited Utah on Monday, he subtly undermined Mitt Romney in the latest chapter of their tortured relationship.
The pool reporters traveling with Trump asked him if he was encouraging Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch, also on the trip, to run for reelection. “Yes,” Trump responded.
There has been buzz that former Massachusetts governor would run for Hatch’s Senate seat if the 83 year old decides to retire after his seventh term. Citing five unnamed sources, The Atlantic reported recently that “Senator Orrin Hatch has privately told allies in Utah that he is planning to retire at the end of his term next year,...

Saturday Night Livetook aim at President Donald Trump yet again over the weekend in a cold open lampooning all the recent controversies, scandals and feuds he's gotten in over the last two weeks.
Alec Baldwin once again reprised his well-trodden Trump impression for rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and delivered what was essentially a rapid-fire run-down of references to current events.
From his very public arguments with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Republican senator Bob Corker, to his hilariously terrible pronunciation of "Puerto Rico," Baldwin's Trump mocked nearly every headline in recent weeks – including Vice President Mike Pence's recent departure from an Indianapolis Colts game.
Earlier this week, Pence left an NFL game between the Colts and the San Francisco 49ers after seeing some players take a knee during the national anthem. Trump later tweeted that the vice president did so at his request.
