For us 90s kids, Dick Tracy was an interesting monster of a movie. It seemed to take a lot of cues from Tim Burton’s Batman, which was released the previous summer, but it definitely had a distinct voice of its own. Dick Tracy was another classic pulp adaptation of an urban enforcer that had very dynamic visuals and an over-the-top rogues gallery. It even sported a score by Danny Elfman, which would have his signature atmospheric sound. The movie would introduce a generation of young audiences to the 1930’s film noir/ detective movie genre. Additionally, the movie brought back Warren Beatty after a three-year absence when his last film, 1987’s Ishtar, was a big flop. Having a star like Beatty in a big-budget franchise like this was an enormous asset for the re-budding intellectual property. And the star power wouldn’t even stop there.

Los Angeles Lakers power forward Anthony Davis was drafted with the first overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft by the then-New Orleans Hornets. In 2019, he was traded to the Lakers and has played for the team ever since. But despite being a member of one of the most well-known and storied franchises in basketball, the athlete is pretty private about his personal life and the woman he’s married to.
Here’s what we know about Anthony Davis’ wife Marlen Polonco Davis.

Updated with additional ads: This year’s Super Bowl shaped up as — let us all hope — a one-of-a-kind experience. But the seventh career championship for Tom Brady, who led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a win over the Kansas City Chiefs (last year’s champs), had plenty of familiar elements for viewers in this unfamiliar moment.
The title game capped an NFL season that survived the pandemic but saw its sense of spectacle shrink. Many viewers, of course, tune into the Super Bowl mostly for the ads, and they were rewarded with a healthy amount of razzle-dazzle. An array of A-list stars were marshaled by brands, with more talent freed up during 2020 as film and TV shoots got interrupted by the Covid-19 surge.
A high degree of uncertainty faced marketers, with large viewing parties out the window and a host of viewer sensitivities coming off a nerve-shredding year. Mainstays such...

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to recognize Kobe Bryant's role in inspiring the team's special season by incorporating his memory into the design of their championship rings. The Lakers played their first game of the NBA's 2020-2021 season on Tuesday, Dec. 22, and prior to tipoff, the members received their rings to signify winning the title in October. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are the highest-profile athletes currently on the squad. Jeweler Jason Arasheben told ESPN that his design for the hardware pays tribute to the late Lakers icon by including a black mamba snake surrounding the uniform number for each player. New York, Dec 22 (Ians) The 2020-21 NBA season will begin with a blockbuster opening-night doubleheader with the Golden State Warriors visiting the Brooklyn Nets and defending champions Los Angeles Lakers taking on the intracity rival LA Clippers.
The opening night on Tuesday will see NBA MVPs Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and LeBron James and two-time NBA Finals Mvp Kawhi Leonard in action. It will also mark the return of Curry, Durant and Kyrie Irving as the trio look primed to put on a spectacle on Day 1.
Durant's first game in 18 months (excluding the preseason) -- and first as a Net -- comes against the team with whom he won two NBA championships and two NBA Finals Mvp awards.
"Every drill that I've done, I've been going as hard as I could. I've been in the league for 14 years. Even if I didn't have an Achilles', I probably wouldn't be 100 per cent.

In a move aimed squarely at another Los Angeles Lakers great, LeBron James has signed a two-year, $85 million contract extension to stay with the team.
The signing sends a strong signal to free agent Anthony Davis that the 35-year-old James will be around to help defend their NBA title for at least the next two years. Davis is a free agent and, while expected to return to the Lakers, is taking his time and mulling his options.
James and Davis teamed to bring the Lakers their first NBA title since the 2009-10, beating the Miami Heat in October at the Orlando NBA bubble. James was named the Finals Mvp and became the fourth player to win at least one championship with three different teams.

Orlando, Oct 5 (Ians) After Game 2 of the ongoing NBA Finals, Jimmy Butler had said "It's not over". He made sure he lived up to his statement in Game 3 as Miami Heat beat LA Lakers 115-104 in Game 3. Butler recorded a 40-point triple double to keep Heat alive in the series at 2-1.
With Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo unavailable for the Game 3, Butler lived upto his superstar billing to become the third player in league history to record such a stat line in the Finals, and the first to do so in a win. Butler became only the third player after Jerry West and LeBron James to record a 40-point triple-double in NBA Finals history. He is also the first player since Shaquille O'Neal in 2002 to score 40 points without attempting a 3-pointer, as per an NBA release.
"We won. I could care less about a triple-double. We play this game to win.

As the purple and gold confetti fell, LeBron James sat emotionless on the hardwood during the Western Conference Finals trophy ceremony. James seemed unbothered by the fact the Lakers had made their first finals berth since Kobe Bryant led the Lakers to their last championship in 2010.
“Right now, it don’t mean sh*t unless I get it done,” James told ESPN after the Lakers’ Game 5 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. “I got to get it done.”
This also marks James’ first finals appearance with the Los Angeles squad. James’ first year with the Lakers was met with some criticism after the team failed to make the playoffs for the ninth straight year. But, after All-Star Anthony Davis joined during the last off-season, the Lakers were poised to make a serious run for the championship.

The NBA returned on Thursday night to bumper TV ratings for TNT.
A thrilling showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers drew 3.4 million total viewers, more than doubling the network’s average viewership for a regular season telecast. To put that number into perspective, that represents the eighth most-watched game of the NBA season so far and the least-watched of the Lakers and Clippers’ four match ups in the 2019/20 season to date. However, it is also worth mentioning that the opening night game was exclusive to TNT, whereas the audience for Thursday night’s encounter was diluted slightly by the fact it aired on multiple affiliate networks across the country.
The two L.A. teams’ Christmas game drew a whopping 9 million total viewers for ABC and ESPN. Last night’s game was TNT’s second most watched of the season, behind the first Lakers-Clippers game of the season from Oct.

‘This American Life’ Wins First Pulitzer Prize For Audio, Along With Los Angeles Times And Vice News
Public radio’s This American Life won the first Pulitzer Prize for audio reporting, for an episode they did in partnership with the category’s two other winners, the Los Angeles Times and Vice News.
The episode, The Out Crowd, was recognized for “revelatory, intimate journalism that illuminates the personal impact of the Trump Administration’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy.” The Pulitzers recognized Molly O’Toole, immigration and security reporter in the Times’ Washington bureau, and Emily Green, a journalist based in Mexico City.
In the drama category, the Pulitzer committee recognized A Strange Loop by Michael R. Jackson. The musical “tracks the creative process of an artist transforming issues of identity, race, and sexuality that once pushed him to the margins of the cultural mainstream into a meditation on universal human fears and insecurities,” the judges wrote.

Many contemporary albums arrive with less than a week’s notice, but Jhene Aiko started to roll-out her new full-length, Chilombo, months ago. She released four different tracks to stoke anticipation, only to find that when the album finally came out March 6, a brand new song immediately supplanted the lead singles as a fan-favorite. “B.S.”, a casually vengeful back-and-forth with another R&b singer, H.E.R., quickly became Aiko’s highest-charting track.
Collaborations like this one seem to account for more and more of R&b’s big hits recently.

Even when your parents are Beyoncé and Jay-Z, it's still possible to get starstruck. On Sunday afternoon, Blue Ivy and Jay-Z had a father-daughter day out at the Lakers vs. Clippers game in Los Angeles, and it included a sweet introduction to superstar LeBron James. After the game, LeBron went up to his pal where they dabbed each other up, and Blue had a special request for LeBron - she wanted an autographed ball! He promised her that by the time she got home from school on Monday, she would have the ball. Can LeBron send one my way as well?
Blue met players like Anthony Davis and JaVale McGee, but she was totally starstruck meeting LeBron. After attending the Super Bowl with her famous parents last month, it's clear that Blue is a sports fan and we absolutely love that for her. We also love her jean jacket that reads "Blue Is My Name.

There's no Christmas without Santa Claus and during the NBA's Christmas Day games, Kevin Hart played the part. On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center and sitting courtside was the comedian, his wife Eniko Parrish, and his kids. While sitting that close definitely has its benefits - like the absolute best view of the game - there's also the risk of being trampled by the action, and Kevin witnessed that firsthand.
Right before the buzzer went off at halftime, Lakers star Anthony Davis fired off a three-point shot and although he missed it, he landed right on Kevin's lap. We're guessing he was asking Santa Kevin for a win for Christmas because LeBron James immediately ran over and hopped on his lap too. Watch the hilarious clip and see how fans reacted to the viral moment ahead.

Space Jam 2 has had a long road to production. The movie has already had a few hiccups along the way, but it looks like the LeBron James production has hit another snag. The director of the film, Terence Nance, has exited the film and according to Deadline, he’s been replaced with Malcolm D. Lee.
According to the report, Nance ended up stepping away because the studio and producers had different takes on the creative vision for the film.
