Pussy Riot have released a new song, “Hangerz,” with the help of Vic Mensa and Junglepussy. The politically themed track was written before the band staged a sold-out live benefit show in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 11th to protest the anti-abortion legislation and centers on reproductive freedom for all women.
“Don’t like abortions? Don’t make it,” Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova said in a statement. “Don’t tell me what to do, my body is nobody’s business. It’s a universal basic right of every human — to...

Troye Sivan, Charli Xcx and Pussy Riot were among the artists taking the stage in Los Angeles on Thursday night at the first-ever Go West Fest, which coincided with the first weekend of Pride Month and served as an unofficial kick off to L.A. Pride. The Live Nation-produced event — named after the 1979 Village People song about finding a utopia that’s free from discrimination — brought together an almost-entirely Lgbtq lineup, who performed before a near-capacity crowd at the Wiltern Theatre. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales went to advocacy organization GLAAD.

A member of the punk anarchists Pussy Riot is reportedly in grave condition from what appears to be poisoning.
Russian news reports claim Pyotr Verzilov has been in emergency care since late Tuesday. The reports by Ekho Moskvy radio and news portal Meduza said Verzilov has lost his eyesight and ability to speak, according to fellow member Veronika Nikulshina.
Both Verzilov and Nikulshina, along with two other activists, served 15-day jail sentences for disrupting July’s World Cup final in Moscow by running onto the pitch in the middle of play.

They first came to public attention in 2012 from a staged performance in Russian’s Cathedral of Christ the Savior church, which some considered sacrilegious. Russian punk group Pussy Riot released a new song and video, “Track About Good Cop,” in the wake of their pitch invasion protest at Sunday’s World Cup final in Moscow.
The song moves between shimmering euro-pop and abrasive bursts of dance-punk. The lyrics seem to allude to the statement Pussy Riot shared after the pitch invasion, in which they spoke about the difference between the fair and just “heavenly policeman” and the oppressive “earthly policeman.”

Four members of Russian punk protest collective Pussy Riot have been sentenced to 15 days in jail for barging onto the playing field at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow during Sunday’s World Cup final.
The four protesters had run onto the field during the 52nd minute of the France vs. Croatia match wearing old-fashioned police uniforms. They were quickly tackled to the ground and dragged off by FIFA stewards, though one of the protesters still managed to snag a double high-five from French player Kylian Mbappé.
In a statement posted to their Twitter account, Pussy Riot wrote that the disruption was meant to protest the detention of political prisoners, including Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov. On Tuesday, Sentsov entered the 65th day of a hunger strike in a high-security prison camp where he is being detained on what several human rights organizations say are trumped-up terrorism charges.

Four members of the Russian punk activist and rock group Pussy Riot have been jailed for 15 days for their World Cup Final pitch invasion.
The quartet were accused of contravening the rules for spectators at sporting events and wearing police uniforms illegally. They were also banned from attending sports events for three years.
Pussy Riot said its action was a protest against human rights abuses in Russia. The incident came during the second half of the Croatia v France final, which the latter went on to win 4-2.
The group has a history of high-profile protests against Russian President Vladimir Putin. Three of its members were jailed in 2012 for an anti-Putin song performed in a Moscow cathedral.
The group detailed the sentences and their prison conditions in a series of tweets.

Four members from the punk rock band Pussy Riot were jailed Sunday and charged with crimes after storming the field during the World Cup Final match between France and Croatia.
Nika Nikulshina, Olga Kurachyova, Olga Pakhtusova and Pyotr Verzilov are accused of violating spectator rules and illegally wearing police uniforms, per the BBC. The misdemeanor offenses carry pretty low fines — maybe $200 combined — but their night in jail didn’t sound too homey, per the group’s official Twitter account:

The 2018 edition of the Eaux Claires festival, the four year-old, artsy two-day fest curated by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and The National’s Aaron Dessner (pictured), came with a unique, potentially exciting concept for anyone tired of the same played-out fest tropes: no lineup would be announced until festival-goers took to the field in Eaau Claires, Wisconsin. In interviews and on social media, the organizers promised that the audience would not be disappointed. Coming on the heels of last year’s fest, which featured an extraordinarily diverse lineup with arena-sized acts including Chance the Rapper and Paul Simon, as well as cultier faves like Wilco and John Prine and a palpable inter-artist energy, it was quite the guarantee.
Sadly, it over-promised and under-delivered. Though Eaux Claires IV was full of one-off musical collaborations and unique sets, the lack of any true large-scale surprises on the lineup gave the whole...

"Revolution or media noise?" Cleopatra Entertainment has released a new trailer for a documentary about the controversial, radical rock band Pussy Riot, titled Act & Punishment. The film profiles their activist careers, by following them closely since they were released from prison in 2012. It examines "their evolution from mere political activists through their formation of a punk rock band destined to bring their message of revolution to the masses and beyond." Pussy Riot is also launching a tour in the Us in 2018 right after this doc premieres on VOD, and it's all tied together to help bring more attention to these badass ladies. The film stars actual Pussy Riot members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina, and Yekaterina Samutsevich. This looks like a wild, bold look at how much noise they made and the importance of troublemakers today. Here's the official Us trailer for Yevgeni Mitta's documentary Act & Punishment, direct from YouTube:...

Pussy Riot has been fighting for what they believe in since 2011, protesting against Russian President Vladimir Putin and advocating for women’s and Lgbt rights, among other topics. The feminist punk rock group continues to send messages to the masses and their latest video, “Make America Great Again,” takes a dig at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“Because You decide elections and if we get together, we could blow this shit up, take action and reverse this erosion of rights. Because f**k it,” reads the video’s caption.
Directed by Jonas Akerlund, the video stars Nadya Tolokno and envisions a world in which Trump wins the upcoming election. The clip begins with footage of the business mogul at rallies and people fighting, it then shows the singer being dragged into a police station where she’s branded as an “outsider” and “fat pig.”

Weezer gave a bombastic live rendition of their latest anthem "I Love the USA" on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Wednesday.
The alternative rock band released "I Love the USA" over the summer in honor of Nasa's Juno spacecraft, which successfully entered Jupiter's orbit on July 4th, five years after its launch. The track is a fitting red, white and blue-blooded ballad and on The Late Late Show, Rivers Cuomo pounded away at a piano and belted his patriotic salvo, while the rest Weezer surrounded him. The unfolding scandal surrounding the financing of The Wolf of Wall Street — which allegedly links corruption and money laundering at the highest levels of the Malaysian government to the company behind the hit film starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a flamboyant criminal broker — is getting the documentary treatment. Mike Lerner, the Oscar-nominated British producer behind Hell and Back Again, The Square and Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, is producing the doc, which purports to connect the dots between Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak, a sovereign wealth fund set up to spur economic development, notorious celebrity-strewn parties in Cannes and

"The Notorious Mr. Bout," the latest doc from co-directors Tony Gerber ("Full Battle Rattle") and Maxim Pozdorovkin ("Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer") delves into the life of a famous Russian arms dealer. Aside from terrific archival footage the film also takes a long look at the way Bout's case was handled and if it was done so fairly. Also whether or not that matters when everyone knows you're a bad, bad man.

You may know the co-directors of The Notorious Mr. Bout for their prior individual projects, the likes include Maxim Pozdorovkin’s co-directed project HBO alongside Mike Lerner, Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, and Tony Gerber’s acclaimed collaboration with Jesse Moss, Full Battle Rattle, but together Pozdorovkin and Gerber have created a surprisingly funny depiction of international crime by profiling famed arms dealer and novice documentarian, Viktor Bout.

Banksy's next project is taking over Tropicana, an abandoned outdoor swimming pool in Weston-Super-Mare, a seaside town in North Somerset, England. The mysterious artist transformed the space into an exhibition styled as an amusement park called Dismaland. “I loved the Tropicana as a kid, so getting to throw these doors open again is a real honour," Banksy said through the town council. The exhibition's website keeps it cheekier. "Are you looking for an alternative to the sugar-coated tedium of the average family day out? Or just somewhere a lot cheaper?" The exhibition, which runs from August 22 to September 27, brings together local and international artists, including Damien Hirst, and features musical acts like Pussy Riot and Massive Attack. Here's a look at the most ironic place on Earth:And here's the site map, so you can get around while you're stoned:...

House of Cards, Season 3, Episodes 7-13
Premiered on Friday, February 27th on Netflix Instant
Although the Underwood couple, in all their conniving glory, are one of the main appeals of House of Cards, season three presents a slow but forceful tear between Frank and Claire that drives the plot into new territory. With Frank resorting to old, but now ineffectual, methods of coercion by putting his foot down until he gets his way, he finds himself weakened under Claire’s unwavering high heel. Restless and tired of her husband’s ways and her seemingly permanent position at his side, she ends the season with the exciting and unexpected decision to leave him. In spite of the fact that Frank and Claire seem to be an unbreakable duo hellbent on complete power, there are several moments throughout the latter half of season three that seem to suggest that Claire wants to surpass her husband’s position,...

Everyone talked about her character's expansion in season 2, but to me Claire felt just as hidden as she was in season 1, bar Chapter 17. The writers must have started planning this season after Robin Wright won the Golden Globe. Claire is actually relevant to the plot in season 3, and Wright has equal screentime to Kevin Spacey. I love it! KylieistBoi: Just watched the first 4 episodes, it is going really well so far. My favorite one is the Russian centered episode, with Pussy Riot.

This is the show I have been waiting for all season (which has only been two episodes but feels like much longer, perhaps because of the interminable recovery of Doug Stamper). Events that actually move the plot forward! Weird sexual power plays! Political struggles that feel high-stakes and violent and terrifying! The Underwoods weathering the schemes of other, inevitably lesser forces, and emerging victorious! Claire Playing Beer Pong! But let’s begin at the beginning. Russian President Petrov is visiting the United States as protests against him rage outside the White House. Pussy Riot will be in attendance; they have a list of issues they want the presidents to discuss, but Frank doesn’t even read it. “Just tell them I did it,” he says. Frank is such a pure political animal: It’s fascinating to watch how he goes from completely ignoring/humoring Pussy Riot, when their agenda is at odds with his own,...
