Since 2011, YouTube has been one of Coachella‘s biggest hype guys. Every time the annual desert festival rolls around, YouTube–as Coachella’s exclusive streaming partner through at least 2026–fills its social channels with livestreams of headliner acts, behind-the-scenes interviews with artists, and peeks at what attending content creators are up to.
This year, much of that content was made by one man and his team.
Hunter Ellenbarger was Creative Lead for YouTube’s Instagram account from 2018 to 2022, and in that time grew the account to more than 15 million followers. When he left YouTube in 2022, it was to launch his own creative studio and consultancy, Star Quality–and in April, he and Star Quality’s team of designers, producers, and editors were responsible for 100+ pieces of YouTube x Coachella promotional content.
“I got to come up with the concept and direct the talent,” Ellenbarger tells Tubefilter. “I worked with a...

“In an effort to make things good with you in the future, I’ve got to make things good for me right now,” she continued.

The Ambies are overseen and voted on by the Podcast Academy, a group that was established just a few months before the inaugural Ambies in 2020. The show has added a handful of new categories since then and has kept pace with a podcasting industry that has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years. “You all look so gorgeous which is why you excel in a medium where no one can see you,” said Mattel, a former Streamy Awards co-host, at the start of the 2024 Ambies.

In their recap of the episode, Sasha and Trixie have fun addressing the “unsolicited shade” of this season and how even when Plane Jane calls anyone “sister” feels like subtle shade as well. Sasha gives Jane some defense by admitting that as drag queens they all “just have a crippling desire for people to love us” and Jane is no different. When it came to the reading challenge of her season, Sasha was impressed by Loosey Laduca and Malaysia Babydoll Foxx; this season the standouts for her were Jane and Xunami Muse.

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Trixie Mattel recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s seventh episode, musician and one-time judge of the show Orville Peck makes his “Pit Stop” debut. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, Orville tells Trixie that he’s watched the show since season one and she shares that he acts like a drag queen when they spend time together in their personal life. Orville calls season 5 his favorite of all time because of how classic their “Untucked” episodes were. The two share commentary on large makeup like Dawn‘s considering former contestants like Trixie, Mimi Imfurst and Bianca Del Rio had to explain their “club kid makeup” back then, but now queens like Dawn and the Methyd family just get to exist.

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Trixie Mattel recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s sixth episode, season 12 finalist Crystal Methyd stops by to “welcome the girls to the family” by “judging their awful outfits.” Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, Crystal confirms that she’s rooting for her Missouri sister Q and that after a few episodes she finally gets the “character” of Plane Jane and is hoping for her to get in a physical fight. Crystal likens Jane to her own drag family member Daya Betty, saying she “knows what she’s in there to do,” but admits that she doesn’t like “Burger Finger” and doesn’t have as clear of a point of view with her drag as other girls like Dawn and Plasma.

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Trixie Mattel recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s fifth episode, season 14 queen Maddy Morphosis made her debut on the show and proved why she would be a great future host. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, both Trixie and Maddy gave Q grace for her emotional reaction to being safe yet again because they see her as someone so very close to a win that they can understand the sting of not getting it. When it comes to Plane Jane‘s villain edit, Trixie can appreciate that Jane shouldn’t “punch down” in her comments on Amanda Tori Meating‘s drag, but at the end of the day it’s making good cat fights that we haven’t seen on the show in a while.

When it came to this live, one-take challenge both Kahmora and Trixie think that the pressure of only having one take actually is a benefit for the queens because they have no opportunity to get in their head with their inner saboteur.

In their recap of the episode, Trixie and Brittany liked Geneva Karr‘s entrance look, but were confused over whether her name is intended to be a pun or not and appreciated her pride in being a leg hair artist on the internet. When it came to the divisive Plane Jane, they both lived for her first impression look and think that only someone that looks that good could come in guns blazing. Jimbo — the drag star and designer who won season eight of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars in July — now has full Hollywood representation. The performer has signed with WME and with management firm Producer Entertainment Group (Peg).
Hailing from Victoria, British Columbia, Jimbo first competed in reality TV on Canada’s Drag Race as well as RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World, before joining the cast of Paramount+’s RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. Jimbo’s win marked the first time that an international performer prevailed on the competition show.
