It was this weekend’s second most anticipated finale!
Saturday Night Live closed out its 44th season with fourth-time host Paul Rudd and a near equal ratio of good-to-bad sketches, ranging from a Grace and Frankie rap (which you can watch here) to an Oval Office sing-along.
The Artist Formerly Known as Mike Hannigan (or Bobby Newport, depending on your NBC comedy preference) has always brought his A-game to Studio 8H, and last night was no exception. With that being said, this episode belonged to Leslie Jones. The Weekend Update frequenter discussed the war on women’s reproductive rights, then...

Washington — The American people will hear directly from Special Counsel Robert Mueller about his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. The question is when.
So says Rep. Adam Schiff (D-ca) anyway. On Sunday, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee went on ABC’s This Week and told host George Stephanopoulos that Mueller will eventually testify before Congress about his 22-month probe and the 448-page final report he and his team produced. According to Schiff and other congressional Democrats, the need to hear from Mueller himself about his findings...

Continuing his epic tweetstorm of the last few days, President Donald Trump kept up the pace Sunday with a massive amount of tweeting and retweeting. The focus was mainly his usual themes of immigration and the witch hunt, but he also found time to address an injustice in the sporting world.
At Saturday’s Kentucky Derby, horse Maximum Security was disqualified from his apparent victory after being deemed to have interfered with several horses during the race. Instead, 65-1 long shot Country House took home the win.
President Trump didn’t like the decision. “It was a rough and tumble race on a wet and sloppy track, actually, a beautiful thing to watch. Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur. The best horse did Not win the Kentucky Derby – not even close!”
Perhaps we should take those words to heart. This is a man who...

During a press conference prior to last month’s release of the redacted Mueller report, Attorney General William Barr was asked whether he would permit Special Counsel Robert Mueller to testify before Congress.
“I have no objection to Bob Mueller personally testifying,” he said.
But as many have come to suspect over the past month — and as seems to have been revealed definitively Tuesday night — Barr shares an aversion to the truth with the president who appointed him. It shouldn’t be surprising, then, that he is now trying to prevent,...

Robert Mueller wrote a scathing letter to Attorney General Bill Barr in late March, blasting Barr’s infamous four-page summary to Congress because it did “not fully capture the context, nature, and substance” of the special counsel’s findings. That is the takeaway from a bombshell report published Tuesday evening in the Washington Post.
Mueller’s letter, sent days after Barr’s cursory briefing of March 24th, blamed Barr’s communique for spurring “public confusion about critical aspects of the results of our investigation” into the Trump campaign’s contacts...

Continuing his victory lap in the post-Mueller Report era, President Donald Trump’s tweetstorm today repeated what’s been a days-long message to his Twitter followers: There was no collusion and no obstruction.
Now that the “witch hunt” is over – with some “pretty amazing” conclusions – the Commander-in-Tweet can’t seem to let it go. Perhaps it’s pushback against the rest of the media, who are still pulling at threads in the report, and an attempt to reinforce the concept that it’s time to move on.
One other note in the Saturday tweetstorm so far: the economy is “doing Great,” with jobless claims at a 50-year low. If true, that’s news that both sides of the aisle can be happy about.
The tweetstorm so far:
If @MittRomney spent the same energy fighting Barack Obama as he does fighting Donald Trump, he could have won the race (maybe)! pic.

President Donald Trump resumed his attack on the “Fake News Media” after a brief break to rail on illegal immigration and calling on Mexico and Democrats in Congress to help Republicans “end the horrible, costly and foolish loopholes in our Immigration Laws.”
In an early Sunday morning tweet, Trump revisited earlier news reports that some investigators on Robert Mueller’s team told associates that Attorney General William Barr failed to adequately portray the findings of their inquiry and that they were more troubling that Barr indicated.
“Looks like Bob Mueller’s team of 13 Trump Haters & Angry Democrats are illegally leaking information to the press while the Fake News Media make up their own stories with or without sources – sources no longer matter to our corrupt & dishonest Mainstream Media, they are a Joke!”, Trump tweeted.
So far, it’s been a quiet Twitter Sunday from the Commander-in-Tweet. But that’s unlikely to last.

Other than Special Counsel Robert Mueller, himself, there is probably no one person more familiar with the rationale for charging the president with obstruction of justice than former FBI director James Comey, whose firing directly preceded Mueller’s appointment. It was with some interest then that observers noted Comey’s tweet on Sunday, the day Attorney General William Barr released a four-page letter effectively clearing the president in the nearly two-year Russia probe. It featured the kind of photo that might appear in a calendar of motivational quotes: a lone...

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s relationship with Russia is over. The president is pleased.

In its final episode before Christmas, “SNL” brought back Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump for a cold open sketch parodying “It’s a Wonderful Life,” dubbed “It’s a Wonderful Trump.”
In this version of the story, Baldwin’s Trump feels despondent about the way his presidency is going and wishes that he had never become president. He’s led on this journey by Clarence, played here by “SNL” regular Kenan Thompson.

Alec Baldwin did not return as Donald Trump in this week’s “SNL” cold open, though he did appear in a photo on the wall of Eric Trump’s bedroom. But we did get a celebrity appearance in the cold open, with Robert De Niro showing up once again as special counsel Robert Mueller.
The sketch began with Eric (Alex Moffat) terrified by a bogeyman he thinks is out to get the Trump family, and comforted by Donald Trump Jr (Mikey Day) who read “The Night Before Christmas,” while also trying to reassure him that the whole family probably isn’t going to jail.
The bedtime story reading didn’t go super smoothly, mainly because Eric doesn’t know what any of the words mean — “Indict: There’s no sugar ‘indict’ coke,” Eric said after Don Jr. praised him for actually knowing the word “indict” — and they’re quickly interrupted...

President Trump’s trip to Argentina for the G-20 summit was relatively subdued. He bailed on a press conference “out of respect for the Bush Family.” He refrained from bro-ing out with Vladimir Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman. He dined with Chinese President Xi Jinping. But on Monday morning the president was back in the same time zone as the special counsel’s office, which quickly consumed his thinking. After firing off some tweets about the questionable progress he made with Xi, Trump unloaded on the the Russia investigation.

Donald Trump also accused special counsel Robert Mueller of seeking “lies” from witnesses about Trump, and wet-kissed longtime pal Roger Stone for having the “guts” to say he will not testify about Trump because he has had no contact with him about Russia and would have to make up stuff.

Say this for Donald Trump: He can make a joke as well as he can take one.
Days after calling for decorum in the White House – and with his repeated duckings of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner prompting a no-comedian affair next year – the President of the United States tweeted an insult about Rep. Adam Schiff, calling the Democratic congressman from California “little Adam Schitt.”
Trump’s Sunday morning tweet, in full: “So funny to see little Adam Schitt (D-ca) talking about the fact that Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker was not approved by the Senate, but not mentioning the fact that Bob Mueller (who is highly conflicted) was not approved by the Senate!”
Any remote possibility that the sophomoric jibe was some sort of auto-correct blunder faded in direct proportion to the hours the tweet remained live (24 and counting) on the President of the United States’ official Twitter page.

President Donald Trump started off the Sunday morning Twitter attack quietly, touting his interview appearance with Chris Wallace on Fox. Twice.
The Commander-in-Tweet initially sent out a blast as a heads-up. He later dialed in the time slots for those anxiously awaiting word and not near a handy reference. The segment will air twice today, allowing Twitter Trump followers no excuses for missing the interview.
Later, the President got in a little dig at one of his main Democratic rivals, Adam Schiff, and found time to talk about the “caravan” that is mounting at the border.
Interestingly, Wallace went after the President for his stances on the media.
The “Fox News Sunday” host chided Trump for calling the media “the enemy of the American people.”
“Barack Obama whined about Fox News all the time but he never said we were the enemy of the people,” Wallace said.
Trump wouldn’t back down.
