Jennifer Lawrence R-Rated Comedy ‘No Hard Feelings’ Lands at Sony Pictures

Jennifer Lawrence R-Rated Comedy ‘No Hard Feelings’ Lands at Sony Pictures
Sony Pictures has acquired “No Hard Feelings,” an R-rated comedy package with Jennifer Lawrence attached to star.

Along with Lawrence, the film will be directed by Gene Stupnitsky, a writer and co-executive producer on NBC’s “The Office.” “No Hard Feelings” will be Stupnitsky’s follow-up to the 2019 coming-of-age ensemble comedy “Good Boys,” his feature-length directorial debut. Stupnitsky also serves as co-writer on “No Hard Feelings,” alongside John Phillips.

No Hard Feelings” is set in Montauk, NY, a hamlet on the east end of Long Island. The package is billed as an R-rated comedy in the vein of the 1983 Tom Cruise film “Risky Business” and the 2011 Cameron Diaz vehicle “Bad Teacher,” which Stupnitsky served as an executive producer and writer on.

Sony Pictures reportedly fended off some competition from other streamers and major studios in its pursuit of the project, including interest from Stupnitsky’s “Good Boys” distributor Universal Pictures.

Sony Pictures Wins ‘No Hard Feelings,’ R-Rated Comedy Vehicle For Jennifer Lawrence; Gene Stupnitsky Directing His Script

Sony Pictures Wins ‘No Hard Feelings,’ R-Rated Comedy Vehicle For Jennifer Lawrence; Gene Stupnitsky Directing His Script
Exclusive: Sony Pictures is closing a deal for No Hard Feelings, an edgy comic vehicle for Jennifer Lawrence that will be directed by Gene Stupnitsky. Sony prevailed in stiff competition.

Script was written by Stupnitsky, whose credits range from The Office to Bad Teacher and Good Boys. He wrote the script with John Phillips. This is an R-rated comedy very much in that spirit, a raucous comedy in the vein of Bad Teacher and There’s Something About Mary.

Sony won the deal for a sizeable sum and its zeal to provide a theatrical release for the comedy. Producers include Alex Saks, Marc Provissiero, Naomi Odenkirk, Lawrence and Justine Polsky.

Unclear where the picture factors into the dance card of Lawrence, who has several films vying for her next slot. They include the Paolo Sorrentino-directed film about the late Hollywood super agent Sue Mengers for Apple, and the Adam McKay

Ozy Media Is Not Shutting Down After All, CEO Carlos Watson Says

Ozy Media Is Not Shutting Down After All, CEO Carlos Watson Says
The board of Ozy Media, the media and entertainment company accused of deceiving investors and advertisers, has had a change of heart and will not be shutting its doors, CEO Carlos Watson said Monday.

“We are going to open for business,” Watson said in an appearance on NBC News’ “Today” show. “This is our Lazarus moment, if you will.”

The about-face comes after New York-based Ozy announced Friday, Oct. 1, that it would wind down the business, following a series of damaging reports about the company falsifying audience metrics and the revelation that its COO impersonated a YouTube executive on a call with prospective investor Goldman Sachs. Ozy’s questionable practices were first reported by the New York Times on Sept. 26, leading to an avalanche of other disclosures including allegations of a toxic workplace culture.

Over the weekend, Watson said, the company spoke with advertising partners, readers and viewers, and investors

‘LuLaRich’ Breaks Down the Fall of a Women’s Clothing Giant: TV Review
The forensic breakdown of corporate greed may be the defining artwork of this historical moment.

From the dueling Fyre Festival documentaries of 2019 to the multiple filmed and written explorations of overweening founders like Adam Neumann (WeWork) and Elizabeth Holmes (Theranos), there’s a sort of giddy weightlessness in watching the mighty brought low, and seeing the plebes who worked for them elevated, for a moment, to star-witness status. At a moment in which inequality seems more pronounced, and more top-of-mind, than ever in Americans’ lifetimes, there’s potential for real analysis of the chaos of the global economy in each of these stories — but what people are tuning in for is the carnage.

So it is with “LuLaRich,” a new Amazon Prime Video series that makes a worthy addition to its genre. It serves up both a sense of what multilevel marketing does to those who participate in it and
