Is “SNL” new tonight? Yes. NBC’s late night sketch comedy series returns on Saturday night with host Maya Rudolph and musical guest Vampire Weekend. Rudolph was a regular cast member from 2000 to 2007, and this marks her third time as host following her stints in 2012 and 2021. The funnylady also took home a pair of guest star Emmys for “Saturday Night Live” in 2020 and 2021 for her role as Vice President Kamala Harris. In this week’s “SNL” promo video (watch above), Rudolph and Kenan Thompson do their best Dracula impressions in front of Vampire Weekend.
The regular cast members for “Saturday Night Live” Season 49 are, in credits order: Michael Che, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, James Austin Johnson, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Sarah Sherman, Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang. It’s hard to put pop star Billie Eilish in a genre box, as she mixes pop, alternative, and electronic music to create both broody beats and dance tunes. And that versatility is also what makes her music perfect for so many different occasions. Eilish has evolved so much in the near decade since she released her first single, “Ocean Eyes,” and throughout that time, music from Eilish’s different eras has set the tone for all sorts of emotions and moments in TV and film — her songs are fitting for romance, disagreements, reminiscing, and big life changes.
As you prepare for the release of her new album Hit Me Hard and Soft, we have the perfect Billie Eilish playlist for you: a collection of big musical moments from movies and shows.

Bridgerton takes a subgenre called Regency Romance and turns it into a powerful statement. At the same time, it violates all the canons of the genre, and it is the greatest advantage of the modern golden age of serial production: viewers want to see old stories told in new ways, and platforms are willing to pay their best writers any amount of money to realize their wildest ideas.
The showrunner and screenwriter of the series, Chris Van Dusen, made a very important decision: he mixed the two-hundred-year-old costume story with relevant modern issues.
Almost Every Aspect of Bridgerton is Modernized, Except One
The screen world of Bridgerton is not good old England at all, but the modern world, simply transferred to the 19th century. Ladies and gentlemen dance to orchestral versions of Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Maroon 5 songs. The characters communicate with each other in a made-up version of...

AMC Entertainment’s biggest issue right now may be its $4.5 billion debt and the fact that most comes due in 2026. On a conference call post-earning today, CEO Adam Aron addressed it publicly for the first time, assuring investors the giant theater chain has been working with lenders for almost a year to extend the maturities and he’s hopeful they will.
“I can assure everyone listening to this call that the management of this company, which has been pretty smart in how we’ve navigated through the pandemic … is wholly focused on the debt maturities that are due in 2026. This is not something that we will look at next year or the year after.”
The good news, he said, “is that we have lender syndicates who generally like AMC, have worked with us before, and are working with us now, and he’s “hopeful” for an agreement. “It has our highest attention.

Movie theaters can’t sell tickets if they don’t have a lot of new blockbusters to advertise on their marquees. And the actors and writers strikes that ground Hollywood to a standstill in 2023 left studios with fewer movies to release as 2024 got started. As the biggest exhibitor in the world, AMC Theatres certainly felt the lack of franchise movies and tentpole films as the year kicked off, but the company still managed to beat projections with its quarterly earnings. That was partly thanks to the March release of “Dune: Part Two” and “Kung Fu Panda 4,” popular sequels that helped off-set declining admissions in January and February.
Despite the late breaking entry of some must-see movies, revenues at the the theater chain fell to $951.4 million from $954.4 million in the prior-year quarter. However, net losses for the three-month period ending in March narrowed to $163.5 million, or 62 cents per share. That...

If this story were a hard-boiled detective novel, the title might be The Case of the Mysteriously Shrinking Album.
Over the past few weeks, both Beyoncé and Taylor Swift unveiled projects that seemed to include every piece of music they had ever recorded for their respective albums: Cowboy Carter stretched out to 27 tracks, the complete version of The Tortured Poets Department to 31. Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

"Jujutsu Kaisen" is not just a popular anime, it is Guinness World Records' most in-demand anime series in the world, and it's easy to see why. The anime adaptation of Gege Akutami's manga of the same name is full of memorable characters, a great sense of humor, stunning horror-inspired imagery, and some phenomenal action and animation by Studio Mappa. It doesn't hurt that the first season had one of the best opening sequences and theme songs of the past decade, as well as a fantastic and eclectic soundtrack that even takes inspiration from Billie Eilish.
The show takes place in a world of sorcerers and Curses, spirits caused by negative emotions that haunt humanity. The main story follows Yuji, who joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers after he inadvertently becomes the host of the world's most powerful Curse, named Sukuna.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is not what it used to be. Although the statements might be hurtful, there have never been so many delays in a Marvel film before as Mahershala Ali’s upcoming MCU film Blade.
It’s not just about the infinite delays though, it feels as if the MCU has dropped its standards after the events of Avengers: Endgame. With people getting hurt by these Marvel updates, fans are not liking the news of Mahershala Ali’s delayed film!

Marvel And Mahershala Ali’s Blade Gets Delayed… Again
Although it could be taken in a good sense that the MCU doesn’t want to release an unfinished product, the fans are also tired now. With the world having learned not to rush things for a release (*cough* Cyberpunk 2077), the MCU probably wants their films to be actually entertaining for the audience.

On it, her wistful voice and evocative lyrics are at their most heart-wrenching as she processes the loss of one of the closest people in her life to cancer.
For instance, focus track “Who Would I Be” is a soaring anthem that finds her dreaming of a chance to leave her nightmares behind in favor of a happier story. Poignant and relatable, it’s quality music with the most heart.

Taylor Swift is very easily at a career peak right now, at a level that most artists won’t ever come close to. Her popularity has skyrocketed ever since her “Eras” tour, which is the highest grossing tour of all time (and isn’t even over yet). Swift’s 2024 has already been quite busy, starting with two Grammys for “Midnights” in February, including a fourth Album of the Year award, which made her the first artist to win that many AOTYs, an impressive feat considering Swift’s career is not even 20-years-old yet. On top of that, Swift put out another new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” that will likely also compete for a win in that category and others. Now that the album has had some time to marinate in the pop cultural landscape, how do her chances look?

As the 2024 presidential election inches closer, two nonprofit groups favored by pop icons and Hollywood stars are merging to get out the vote.
I Am a Voter has been absorbed by HeadCount. The latter is a field operation that provides voter registration and education at concerts and music festivals, heavily courting young people.
Both organizations identify as nonpartisan, and will now share resources and expertise ahead of November. Collectively, the groups have been utilized or endorsed by Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Alicia Keys, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Aniston and Olivia Rodrigo. Brands have also partnered with each, including the NBA, Major League Baseball, Spotify, Mattel and Liquid Death.
“I am a voter formed in 2018 to unify around a central truth: our democracy works best when we all participate,” said Iaav co-founders Mandana Dayani and Natalie Tran. “We truly believe in the power of culture to inspire others and shape narratives. With...

TikTok and Universal Music Group (Umg) have settled their dispute. The two parties have agreed on a new licensing agreement that will return the latter company’s catalog — including songs from Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Billie Eilish — to TikTok’s music library.
Tracks from Umg artists were muted on TikTok for three months as a result of an ongoing disagreement between the “big three” label and ByteDance’s buzzy video app. In February, Umg insisted that TikTok had to address “three critical issues” before a new deal could be reached. Those sticking points included concerns about AI, TikTok’s lowball offer during negotiations, and the “content adjacency issues” that pop up when music is paired with offensive content.
A new “multi-dimensional” agreement between TikTok and Umg will alleviate those concerns. The new deal prioritizes improved remuneration for Umg’s songwriters and artists while offering promotional opportunities and protections against AI.

Arriving on Prime Video today, "The Idea of You" (read our review) stars Anne Hathaway as Soléne, a 40-year old art gallery curator who finds herself in a surprising, romantic meet-cute with Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), a 24-year old who just so happens to be part of the famous (fictional) boy band called August Moon. But can their blossoming romance survive the hellish landscape of public judgment and media scrutiny that comes with life in the celebrity limelight?
"The Idea of You" (watch the trailer) is based on the best-selling romance novel of the same name by Robinne Lee, which many believe to be inspired by chart-topping singer Harry Styles, once a member of the boy band One Direction, and his well-documented romantic encounters with older women. With a filmmaker like Michael Showalter behind the camera -- who made his feature directorial debut with the romantic comedy satire "The Baxter,...

After a shortened 2022-23 season, Saturday Night Live returned a bit later than usual to kick off its 2023-24 run.
The writers strike affected both the end of last season and the start of season 49; the end of the labor action on Sept. 25 meant a mid-October start for SNL — with former castmember Pete Davidson hosting — rather than the late September or early October premiere the show usually has. (The cast is covered under a different SAG-AFTRA contract than the one actors are currently striking against, so they can perform without crossing picket lines.)
The show’s cast returned intact from last season, with James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman moving up from featured players to repertory players. Chloe Troast joined the cast as a featured player.
Below is The Hollywood Reporter’s updating guide to season 49’s SNL hosts and musical guests.

We can probably expect a few of the top Aoty contenders to make an impact here with their respective singles. For instance, Taylor Swift is ahead in our Aoty odds for “The Tortured Poets Department,” so her lead single “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone is a strong bet for both Roty and Soty. She’s the most nominated songwriter of all time in the latter category with seven citations, but she has yet to win it. Many things weigh on Aza Holmes, the anxious protagonist of Hannah Marks’ Turtles All the Way Down, but none more than the existence of bacteria. Thoughts of these microorganisms — the ease with which they can infiltrate a body and the chances of infection — plague her. She worries about a wound on her left middle finger, a slit in the skin she can’t let heal. Picking at the sore relieves her obsessive thought spirals, but it also activates a new round of worries about contamination, disease and the impossibility of safety.
Aza, played by Isabela Merced (Madame Web) has anxiety and Ocd, conditions that make the already challenging experience of high school even more difficult. Turtles All the Way Down, which Marks (Don’t Make Me Go) adapted from John Green’s novel of the same name, is a mostly moving portrait of how one teenager navigates her mind’s unruly terrain.

Dogwoof has boarded international sales for “Thom Browne: The Man Who Fell to Earth,” the first feature documentary about the fashion designer. Dogwoof will present the film to buyers in Cannes this month.
“Thom Browne: The Man Who Fell to Earth,” a working title, marks Dogwoof’s third collaboration with director Reiner Holzemer and producer Aminata Sambe following 2016’s “Dries,” an intimate portrait of the fashion designer Dries Van Noten, and 2019’s “Martin Margiela: In His Own Words,” about one of the most revolutionary and influential fashion designers of his time.
“Thom Browne: The Man Who Fell to Earth” follows the ascent to fashion stardom of Browne, whose career is based on the unconventional single concept of the tailored gray suit. His fashion line has garnered A-list collaborators and fans on the way such as Michelle Obama, Billie Eilish, Zendaya, Cardi B and David Bowie, who famously wore Browne’s...

Praising the technology as a “highly valuable” tool “when under the control of the artist,” the British musician continued, “I will be engaging my AI twigs later this year to extend my reach and handle my online social media interactions, whilst I continue to focus on my art from the comfort and solace of my studio.”

There is not much that one can do to infuriate a game developer, but one thing that can put the whole studio on the edge is a leak of their upcoming video game. This is something that has been happening frequently in recent times, and Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 3 was no different when it was time for the title’s official announcement.
Watch Dogs 3’s mechanics were leaked a few days before the game’s official announcement

Singer-songwriter Beyonce is set to perform at the upcoming edition of MTV Video Music Awards to mark its 40th anniversary this September.
This is the first time since 2016 when the ‘Cowboy Carter’ hitmaker will grace its stage, reports ‘Mirror.co.uk’.
Back in 2016, she won eight trophies, and performed a 16-minute Lemonade medley.
Even having earned VMA nominations in 2018, 2020 and 2021, the 42-year-old still didn’t grace the show with an appearance and skipped last year to tour with Renaissance.
“Beyonce is a huge get for the VMAs and will be a huge ratings draw,” a source said.
“She is currently figuring out how her appearance will look and whether it will be one song or a tribute similar to her 2014 closing performance when she received the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.”

“I love music,” declares Rickey Minor, and it’s clear that the music director for the past two Academy Awards telecasts means it. The enthusiasm and joy he projects is infectious. He proclaims that he would “play at the opening of an envelope” and that when it comes to work, “I don’t turn down nothin’ but my collar.” He recalls once telling Quincy Jones that he loves working in music so much he would do it for free and Jones telling him, “Don’t say that.” But while he listened to Jones and insists on getting paid for his work these days, plenty of it comes his way. He’s the go-to music director for live awards shows including the Oscars, the Emmys, the Grammys and The Kennedy Center Honors. Why? Minor believes it’s his meticulous preparation. “Notes, notes, notes,” he says. “I’ve always got my legal pad ready to go.

More than 250 artists, including Billie Eilish, Green Day, Sia and Cyndi Lauper, signed a letter Thursday urging the Senate Commerce Committee to support a bill that would reform the ticketing system for live events.
The Fans First Act, which was initially introduced in December by Sens. John Cornyn, Amy Klobuchar, Marsha Blackburn, Peter Welch, Roger Wicker and Ben Ray Lujan, aims to address flaws in the current live event ticketing system. The bill hopes to increase transparency in ticket sales, protect consumers from fake or overpriced tickets, and hold those who engage in illegal ticket sale practices accountable.
“As artists and members of the music community, we rely on touring for our livelihood, and we value music fans above all else,” the letter said in part. “We are joining together to say that the current system is broken: predatory resellers and secondary platforms engage in deceptive ticketing practices to inflate...

Anyone who has tried to secure tickets to a concert in recent years knows that the system is broken. Luckily, many top acts know it is broken, too, and want something done about it.
Over 250 artists, including Billie Eilish, Dave Matthews, Lorde, Sia, Train, Graham Nash, Green Day, Cyndi Lauper, Fall Out Boy, Chappell Roan, Becky G, Béla Fleck, Jason Mraz, Yes, Mgmt, Blue Öyster Cult and many others have lent their names to bills currently put before congress, the Fans First Act and The Ticket Act, which basically pokes holes in the current ticketing system that frequently drives up prices and creates an unfair secondary market. Grammy Award-winner Billie Eilish revealed that her dramatic blonde hair transformation sparked an identity crisis, leaving her feeling like she had “no idea” who she was. In an interview with Rolling Stone, she said: “And then I dyed my hair blonde, and I immediately was like, ‘Oh, I have no idea who I am’.”
The glamorous look aligned with the softer feel of her sophomore album, ‘Happier Than Ever’, but ultimately, it felt like too much of a departure from Eilish’s true self, reports people.com.

Eilish showcased her new icy blonde hair in a March 2021 Instagram video.
