Christian Bables in I Love You, Beksman
Why does a simple thing like falling in love create so much confusion for some people? Perci Intalan's I Love You, Beksman, which opened the 2023 Queer East film festival in London, tells the story of a flamboyantly attired hairdresser and make-up artist who shocks his big queer family by coming out as straight after he falls for a beauty queen. As he tries to win her heart, he comes under pressure from her family to change the way he lives and presents himself, not realising that that was what got her attention in the first place. This lively, high spirited comedy takes on some serious issues but does so in a way which almost anybody can find enjoyable. Perci agreed to answer some questions about this for Eye For Film, as well as talking about another film at the festival, About Us But Not About Us,...

Who will use the fantasy suite? Who wins? Here’s what goes down in the ‘Listen to Your Heart’ finale
After just five weeks, a cheating accusation, the most dramatic couple swap of all time, and the most awkward non-reciprocal “I love you” of all time, “The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart” will wrap up its first season and crown its inaugural singing lovebirds on Monday.
The final three — Rudi and Matt, Bri and Chris, and Jamie and Trevor — head to Nashville, where they’re informed of the existence of the fantasy suite. “The news is devastating to one, welcomed by another and declined by the other duo,” ABC teases.
Each couple will perform two songs for the judges, Taye Diggs, Rita Wilson, Jewel, and Bachelor Nation’s Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick. Some of the artists they’ll cover are the Righteous Brothers, Dan + Shay, Ed Sheeran and Bob Dylan.
So who will win? Stop reading now if you don’t want to know.
Last chance.
All right.

In the pantheon of Bad Responses to “I Love You,” Matt Ranaudo‘s is definitely in the top tier. After Rudi Gutierrez confessed that she was falling for him on Monday’s “The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart,” Matt replied with, “You’re very courageous for speaking your truth, and I appreciate you doing that, so…” before trailing off. Awk. Ward. And he knows it.
“That’s the worst thing. I literally could have said anything else that it would’ve been better,” Matt told “Access Hollywood” with a laugh in a joint interview with Rudi (watch above).
“I hate you for that forever,” Rudi joked. “I hate you.”
“I hate myself for that!” he replied. “I could’ve said anything. I’m the worst. I’m sorry. Rudi, I’m so sorry.”
As Matt explains, it wasn’t that he didn’t feel the same way or didn’t like her,...

No matter what happens in the remaining two episodes of “The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart,” it’ll be hard to top the insanity of Episode 4 that saw two couples depart and not even in their original pairings.
After a temporary couple swap for dates, Julia and Brandon informed Sheridan and Savannah that they had feelings for each other, causing their Og partners to walk (though Brandon was his wishy-washy self and said he preferred Savannah to Julia). Julia and Brandon’s union was short-lived, however, as their lackluster rendition of Pat Benatar‘s “We Belong” proved that they do not belong to the light or the thunder or together. The judges, Toni Braxton, Andy Grammer, and “The Bachelorette’s” Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo, were unimpressed — Braxton felt “tension” between them; Rachel called it a “karaoke performance.” They were axed, and Julia and cried that she was “done with Brandon,...

Something about watching celebrities fangirl over other celebrities is so endearing, and one of the latest A-listers to do that is Kristen Bell. On Friday, the 39-year-old actress shared a series of videos of herself freaking out over meeting Lin-Manuel Miranda. The two attended San Diego's Comic-Con and were at a gathering when Kristen first spotted Lin-Manuel from afar. While the Veronica Mars star was indoors, she watched the Mary Poppins Returns actor chat with some friends outside.
"Look," Kristen said pointing to Lin-Manuel before letting out a silent scream. The actor took notice of his admirer and tried to speak to her from a distance. "He's talking to me, and I can't hear him!" Kristen said, before heading outside for a proper introduction. They finally united with a sweet hug and bright smiles. "Hi, hi," Kristen said when Lin-Manuel greeted her.

I Love You, Now Die tells the infamous story of Conrad Roy, Michelle Carter and their love affair that led to text-assisted suicide.
When I was 16, I acquired two important firsts: my first girlfriend and my first cell phone. The two entities were basically inseparable in my mind. Even though my girlfriend lived in the same town as I did and attended the same school, I would wager that 80% of our conversations existed via text messaging on my silver Motorola.
We were always in contact, texting messages that contained deeply philosophical (or so I thought) musings on our shared love and also the most inane bullshit imaginable. My mom once had to have an intervention with me as our shared cell phone plan was reaching an astronomical cost. I toned down the incessant texting as best I could, but in the end, my mom just had to...

There are lavish Emmy campaigns with elaborate Fyc spaces, panels and food for TV Academy voters in addition to custom-made mailers. And then there are shows with little on no Emmy budgets, forcing their producers to get creative. That is the case with Comedy Central’s Corporate and the team from Funny or Die, who had a similar idea this year, using other series’ Emmy screeners to promote their shows.
Over at Funny Or Die, they used all the Fyc mailers they had received during the campaign to create Diy ads for Billy On the Street; Brockmire; Gay Of Thrones; I Love You, America with Sarah Silverman; No Activity; and American Vandal.
The folks at Comedy Central’s Corporate also thought of a way to help people rid of the ton of screeners they have piling up in their homes or offices — by setting up three pop-up recycling stations throughout Los Angeles.

It’s June — meaning school’s out and summer is in full force. What better way to celebrate than to binge some of Netflix’s new releases? Yell “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore” out your window as you watch “Network.” Be wary of modern technology as you consume the new season of “Black Mirror” … on a streaming service. And make sure to stay off your neighbor’s lawn after watching Clint Eastwood’s “Gran Torino.”
A few superhero movies are also flying to Netflix this month. Titled Rio, Eu Te Amo, or Rio, I Love You, the anthology features works from directors such as Fernando Meirelles, Paolo Sorrentino, José Padilha, and John Turturro, with performances from Emily Mortimer, Vincent Cassel, Jason Isaacs, and Harvey Keitel. Nachrichten aus Berlin! That's “news from Berlin” to you English. But although it's from Berlin, it's about Rio de Janeiro, which is confusing. In the works for a few years now, Turturro will direct Paradis in a segment for the Rio installment, with other stars recruited for the feature including Harvey Keitel, Emily Mortimer, Vincent Cassel, Jason Isaacs, Wagner Moura, and Rodrigo Santoro. Directors include Fernando Meirelles, Jose Padilha, Paolo Sorrentino, Guillermo Arriaga, and Nadine Labaki,...
