Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez hit up the Great White Way on Tuesday, to see one very special star: Bruce Springsteen.
The couple, who have been going hot and heavy since starting their relationship in February, stopped by The Boss’ critically acclaimed solo show Springsteen on Broadway and met him backstage afterwards for some dressing room photos.
“Baby we were Born to Run…” Lopez, 48, captioned a photo on Instagram, quoting one of Springsteen’s most popular show. “#theboss #when1plus1equals3 #brucespringsteen.’

The Roots recruited Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda on Tuesday's Tonight Show to freestyle in the vein of his smash Broadway musical. During the show's recurring segment "Freestylin' with the Roots," host Jimmy Fallon challenges Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter to improvise in a particular style.

It’s hard not to worry a little about Bruce Springsteen. He revealed in his memoir last year that he’s battled depression on and off for decades. And in recent photos (if you’re the kind of fan who notices such things), he looks, well, haunted. Is it just the state-of-the-world despair that’s going around these days? Or something darker?
Springsteen on Broadway, his extraordinary new stage production, won’t set your mind at ease. Dressed all in black, the showman known for exuberant stadium marathons delivers a two-hour performance — part storytelling, part singing — almost entirely without cracking a smile.

Even the most "serious" and "grounded" superhero movies ultimately offer a warm bath of escapism – but not the fatalistic new twilight-of-Wolverine movie Logan, which feels more like having three metal claws puncture your cranium. This film is many things: the most daring mainstream superhero movie ever; a sharp dystopian vision of a post-Trump future America; a showcase for many, many decapitations and impalements, some of them perpetrated by an 11-year-old girl with a metal skeleton; everything Zack Snyder's Watchmen could have been, had it not been directed by Zack Snyder.

Chicago – The term “throwback” is bantered about with such regularity these days that it loses its meaning. An authentic throwback, however, is the eclectic pop culture store “Shake, Rattle & Read,” which closes its doors at the end of business Saturday, May 21st, 2016. The outlet, an Uptown neighborhood mainstay, has been owned by the same family for 50 years. Current owner Ric Addy is ready to say goodbye to all that.
Ric Addy is a throwback retail hustler, riding the shock wave of the changes to the Uptown neighborhood since taking over the store from his sister in 1986. He began in the record store business, when the wax platter was the music delivery system of choice. After gaining experience from Rose Records downtown, and the Record Exchange in Evanston (Illinois, north of Chicago), he decided to take over the “Book Box” location his sister had run since 1966. For the last 30 years, through...

Bruce Springsteen clearly isn’t the Boss of geography. The singer, who’s currently on The River Tour 2016, posted the show’s set list to his Twitter account on Wednesday, revealing a 34-song set that included such chestnuts as “Hungry Heart,” “Thunder Road,...

About 10 months after Michael Moore's 2004 documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11, hit theaters, the filmmaker travelled up to the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, to check out a Bob Dylan concert. "We were about five rows from the stage," says Moore. "I guess he saw me from the stage, and as we were leaving, the road manager came out and said, 'Bob wants to meet you.' It was really quite the moment."

I bought it for myself, but this was my Christmas present, arriving in the mail from England on Christmas Eve: a fifteen-cd set containing five epic Springsteen concerts from the legendary Darkness on the Edge of Town tour. When the Cleveland deejay who emceed the show for Wmms-fm introduced the band by saying, "Round for round, pound for pound, there ain’t no finer band around," he wasn't just rhyming, he was telling the truth.
Why, you ask, did this set come from England? Well, it's an unauthorized collection of bootlegs, but in Europe, radio recordings are public domain, so this is actually a legal release.
The word went out through the fan network I ordered it on Amazon U.K. before the release date. Perhaps Bruce doesn't get a penny out of this, but I've seen it suggested that writers' royalties would still have to be paid. Either way,...

Columbia
On August 25th 1975, Bruce Springsteen’s third album Born To Run was finally released. A labour of love which took 14 months, two studios and innumerable sessions to make, it was the most important release of Springsteen’s career.
His first two albums – Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. and The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle – were both critically acclaimed, but they failed to sell enough to satisfy Springsteen’s label.
It was clear that, having been introduced to them by the same man who signed Bob Dylan, Columbia expected big things from 25 year old from New Jersey, and to say Born To Run was make or break for Springsteen would be a huge understatement. The pressure was really on him and has backing band, The E Street Band.
“We were ready to be booted from the label. Bruce felt everything was on the line,” recalled keyboard player Roy Bittan.

Just as Billy Joel was the only man who could have possibly closed out the Nassau Coliseum earlier this week, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band were the only act that could have played during the final minutes of Jon Stewart's last Daily Show. "This is by request of the man himself," Springsteen said before launching into the 1999 tune, "Land of Hope and Dreams." "Thanks for everything, Jon. We wish you happy and safe travels."

All through the run-up to Jon Stewart's final "Daily Show" last night, fans were treated to clips of Stewart's greatest hits and best running gags, be it his disdain for Arby's or his impression of Mitch McConnell by way of Cecil Turtle from "Looney Tunes." Stewart opened Wednesday night's penultimate episode by looking at the notion of Stewart's "Daily Show" as a savage "destroyer of worlds," by replaying some of his harshest attacks on Isis, the banks that got us into the financial crisis, and Fox News. Each look back concluded with news footage proving that not only had Stewart not successfully ruined any of his foes, but that they were all more powerful than before. "The world is demonstrably worse than when I started!" he vented. "Have I caused this?!?!?" It was an appropriate, and probably necessary, note to hit. For all that Stewart has been rightly celebrated...

You'd have been forgiven, in the opening minutes of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" Monday night, for forgetting the host's looming departure. As Stewart launched into an extended riff on "the Koch primary"—"Finally, a democratic system that removes the corrosive connection between election and voters"—the sole clue was a smattering of jeers amid the boisterous applause, a few loyalists protesting Stewart's decision to move on from the "Tds" anchor desk. They, we, wanted more, and Stewart the showman couldn't resist. He granted our wish and then some. By the time he arrived, 55 minutes into tonight's broadcast, at his own moment of zen—fellow Jersey boy Bruce Springsteen's performance of "Land of Hope and Dreams" and "Born to Run"—there was nary a dry eye in the house. Stewart offered a virtuosic summation of his tenure: his deep, deep, deep bench of correspondents; video cameos by his most frequent political targets; a.

Bruce Springsteen's got some great genes! The singer's 23-year-old daughter Jessica Rae Springsteen was spotted soaking up the sun while on vacation with her famous papa in the South of France on Friday. The brunette beauty looked stunning in a floral two piece swimsuit as she hit the beach with a pal and the "Born in the U.S.A." musician. Bruce and his wife Patti Scialfa share one daughter Jessica, and two sons, Evan Springsteen, 24, and Sam Springsteen, 21. Check out this pic Patti shared of the couple's three children last year -- they're a good-looking bunch: The two E Street Band members said "I do" in 1991, after Springsteen split from his first wife, model Julianne Phillips, in 1989. While Jess hasn't followed in her famous parents footsteps, she has led a successful Equestrian career and represented the United States during the Show Jumping World Cup and the 2012 Fei Nations Cup. Clearly,...

Born To Run
The opening track is one of the most important on the record; it’s the song that sets the tone for the rest of the album. It grabs the listeners attention, making them listen on, intrigued by what could follow next. It sets up what the flow of an album is going to be like.
What’s is the band’s intention, their purpose with the album? The opening track answers that question. A good opening track sets up an album well, making the message clear of what the band wants the listener to think when listening to the album. But, there are those opening tracks that change music and set their albums apart from the rest of the pack.
A truly classic opening track captures a snapshot in music history; it defines its legacy straight from the word go. In one song, it makes the listener...
